Nairaland news that a large container ship Bert in Onne generates a lot of comments that that would help descongest Lagos. How?

I don't understand how decongested Lagos will make South East grow when growing Abuja, Rivers, Oyo, Ogun and Kano have no negative impact on Lagos.

The sky is wide enough for birds to fly without disturbing each other.

South Easterners should work on their states without negative interest against others
The question should be, "why do yorubas desperately want Igbos to leave Lagos"?

And I need you and christistruth02 to answer this question.

Politics / Re: I understand your pains, new dawn very near - Tinubu to Nigerians by Mbanda(m): 2:48am On Aug 08
adenigga:

President Bola Tinubu has appealed to Nigerians to be patient with his administration, assuring that the country is about to enter a new dawn.

Tinubu made this appeal on Wednesday, acknowledging the hardship Nigerians are going through as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

He also admitted that an avoidable lag between subsidy removal, and his good and helpful plans compounded Nigerians’ pains.

“Fellow Nigerians, this period may be hard on us and there’s no doubt that it is tough on us but I urge you all to look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture. All our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work. Sadly, there was an avoidable lag between subsidy removal and these plans coming fully online,” he said.

The president assured that the measures his government has taken would get the country out of the lingering economic crisis, urging Nigerians to have faith in his administration.

“I plead with you, please, have faith in our ability to deliver and in our concern for your well-being. We will get out of this turbulence and due to the measures we have taken, Nigeria will be better equipped and able to take advantage of the future that awaits her.

“For example, we shall fulfil our promise to make education more affordable to all and provide loans to higher education students who may need them. No Nigerian students will have to abandon the higher education system because of lack of money.

“Our commitment is to promote the greatest good for the greatest number of our people. On principle, we shall never falter, I assure you, my fellow countrymen and women, that we are exiting the darkness to enter a new and glorious dawn. Now, I must get back to work to make this vision come true,” he added

This marks the second time the President would address Nigerians amid the lingering tension in some parts of the country.

BREAKING!!! "Have Faith In Us" - Tinubu Speaks to Nigerians Again as Protests Continue| #Politicsnigeria

President Bola Tinubu has again urged Nigerians to remain calm and patient as his administration works to address the country’s economic challenges.

The President’s plea comes as protests continue to rock several states across the country.

Among other demands, the protesters are demanding the resumption of subsidy of fuel, which was removed by Tinubu on May 29, 2023, following his swearing-in as president.

In an official video released by the State House on Wednesday, August 7, 2024, President Tinubu acknowledged the difficulties faced by Nigerians, admitting that the transition has been tougher than expected.

He attributed the hardship to an “avoidable lag” between the subsidy removal and the implementation of his administration’s plans.

However, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his policies would ultimately yield positive results.

He said, “Fellow Nigerians, this period may be hard on us and there’s no doubt that it is tough on us but I urge you all to look beyond the present temporary pains and aim at the larger picture. All our good and helpful plans are in the works. More importantly, I know that they will work. Sadly, there was an avoidable lag between subsidy removal and these plans coming fully on line.”

“I plead with you, please, have faith in our ability to deliver and in our concern for your well-being. We will get out of this turbulence and due to the measures we have taken, Nigeria will be better equipped and able to take advantage of the future that awaits her.

“For example, we shall fulfill our promise to make education more affordable to all and provide loans to higher education students who may need them. No Nigerian students will have to abandon higher education system because of lack of money.

On principle, we shall never falter, I assure you, my fellow countrymen and women, that we are exiting the darkness to enter a new and glorious dawn. Now, I must get back to work in order to make this vision come true.”

This is the second time President Tinubu has addressed the nation amid the ongoing protests and unrest. He previously addressed the nation in a national broadcast on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

But as usual , igbos will pretend not to know why?
Until you people learn to be accountable for your actions, you won't get along with others .
Is it Nnamdi Kanu that made awolowo and adekunle to plan the total annihilation of Igbos from 1967-1970?

Is it also Nnamdi Kanu that made the Oba of Lagos threaten Igbos with lagoon?
You people should stop lying for once haba!

Politics / Re: The Simple Explanation Of Russian Flags In The North by Mbanda(m): 6:50am On Aug 06
DeepSight:
I see a lot of people failing to understand why Russian flags are popping up in the current protests. Its really very simple and nothing new and requires no sponsorship or interference from Russia or anywhere else. It is exactly what has been seen all over the Sahel (and the North is part of the Sahel) whenever there have been movements against Government. It also appears in other places and the reason is organic.

Most of these protests are caused by intense hardship created by strict policies which are insisted on by Western institutions such as the IMF. Those institutions are also agents in funding and supporting governments or politicians. Their logic is extremely simple -

1. We give you money, and so you need a lot of money to pay us back. Take that money from your people by removing subsidies. That way we can do business better since your cash flow will be better. Mind you, this cash flow is strictly to pay us with all our interests on the easy.

2. At the same time your Foreign Exchange regime must be free market - do not control it at all. That way, we can devalue your currency and make you pay more of your currency for less of our dollars - making it ever harder for you to pay us and ensuring that you incur interest for ever.

3. You must increase taxes at every level to raise more money for us.

These policies are not new. They have been marketed to African leaders everywhere.

This is exactly what has happened in Kenya, Ethiopia, Uganda and now Nigeria, and even others. Every where these policies have been implemented the result has been mass starvation and have ALWAYS led to protests and riots.

So many people, particularly in the Sahel (where the Francophone countries were tired of French economic manipulation) understand that these policies are from the West and that they are targetted at making poor people ever poorer.

For this reason, they simply automatically support the natural enemy of the West and that is Russia. And that, my friends is the simple reason you see Russian flags in these kinds of protests. Its a rebellion against the West. It never fails to pop up.

You should also understand that the speed with which Tinubu removed subsidies and floated the naira is simply his obedience to the West. At that time he was also going to be used fast by the West against Niger Republic, but water pass garri. All of these things, are just commands he was receiving from his masters. And it is the sole reason many other things behind the scenes are happening.

It is the sole reason many times, power changes hands, and it is he who does the bidding of the west that wins.

This is what is happening, so I just wish to explain to people who think there is a Russian conspiracy or funding of Russian flags. No need. It is organic.
And after all these evil deeds, helinues and his cohorts want us to leave tinibu and face our governors.

Yeye dey smell.

My observations about those who are still insisting on the continuation of the protest is they are people who are doing so badly in life and have neglected their responsibilities.

They were the most vocal before the protests and some of them travelled from their five plots to Lagos and Abuja hoping they could fuel a destruction in Lagos

They instigated the violation of court orders restricting protests to certain venues based on the capacity of the police to contain violence

Even when violence broke in some parts of the North, they never spoke against the destructive behavior but encouraged it in their posts

And now that the Lagos protest was called off, they are unhappy. Meanwhile their known faces never participated in any of the protests but stayed on X stoking the fire with their comments
Oboy Igbos are a very strong people o!

So, Igbos has the power to instigate the violation of court orders restricting protests in certain venues, in a far away land🤣🤣🤣 and this is something no Yoruba person (dead or alive) can do in Igbo land🤣🤣🤣
