Celebrities / Justin Bieber's Replies A Fan Who Called Him A Douche by Mcjerry001(m): 7:02am On May 11, 2016
Earlier, Justin Bieber went on a rant saying he was done taking photos with fans because they never say hi to him or see him as a human rather they only want to take photos with him which makes him feel like a zoo animal. Well, a fan @Braekess thought it was inappropriate for Justin to make that kind of decision because according to the fan, taking photos comes with being a celebrity. He told Justin to get over himself and stop being a douche. Justin Bieber replied him with a mature response. He wrote...

Braekess you are so right btw your Instagram name is fire. Years ago it was impossible to even take a picture at anytime not everyone was accessible to a camera now everyone has a camera phone and Now it's just a different thing. If you think setting boundaries is being a douche I'm the biggest douche around but I think it's smart and will be the only way I last. I wanna enjoy life and not be a slave to the world and their demands of what they think I need to do!! I love the fact that I am able to make people happy but cmon if you truly were in my position you would understand how tiring it is ( boo hoo Justin get over it) I'm going to keep making decisions I feel are fit for my growth and no human being will make me feel bad for it.

Celebrities / See Photos Of The Newly Crowned Miss Machakos County 2016 by Mcjerry001(m): 3:00pm On May 10, 2016
– Miss Machakos County 2016 went down at the Machakos peoples park on the night of Saturday, May 7

– The newly crowned Miss Machakos county has been attacked after winning a contest in Kamba-land despite hailing from a different ethnicity

A 21-year-old Karen Nkatha Muriithi beat 11 other contestants to win the hotly contested,Miss Machakos pageant. The pageant was held over the weekend and saw among others , the Machakos governor’s wife who crowned the winner.

TUKO.co.ke has learnt that the judges had a hard time deciding the overall winner from the top three. The overall winner, Muriithi has come under attack on social media for the simple reason that she is not Kamba.

Ann Mbula and Tabitha Kimeu were the first and second runners up respectively. The two who did not clinch the win had been vouched to win and were the favorite of the majority. The judges on the other hand, had a different idea.

The winner was crowned by Lilian Ng’ang’a who also handed to the winner, a cheque of KSh 100,000. Ann Mbula and Tabitha Kimeu won KSh 50,000 and KSh 25,000 respectively.

The winner will be flying the Machakos flag at the county and National level. A fact that seems to have raised dust especially with the thought that she is not Kamba.

All Miss counties in Kenya belong to a particular ethnicity dictated by the population of the particular county. Say for example, Miss Nyamira county will be from the Abagusii while Miss Tharaka Nithi will be as expected, from the Ameru community.

“I really never saw this coming. I congratulate all the rest as I celebrate this win,”Muriithi said after winning as quoted by the Standard. I know the challenge has been bestowed upon me to carry the flag high for Machakos County as we look forward to the national competition. I will not let Machakos down,”

Politics / Saraki Was Worth N4 Billion Before Becoming Governor by Mcjerry001(m): 2:35pm On May 10, 2016
– Michael Wetkas claimed Saraki was worth four billion naira before he became a governor

– This came up at the code of conduct tribunal against the Senate president

– Saraki’s lawyer said he was very rich before he became governor

Michael Wetkas, the principal witness and detective of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday, May 10, revealed that Bukola Saraki, the Senate president was worth four billion naira before his emergence as the governor of Kwara state.

He said this during his cross examination at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
He also disclosed the worth of the 16 vehicles that were declared which was over N200 million.

They include a Mercedes valued at N16 million, Mercedes S, 500 valued at N20 million, Mercedes, 500 at six million, Mercedes b 220, valued at N2 million and a Ferari 456, GT, valued at 25 million,
Others include Peugeot 406 valued at 2.9 billion another mercedes at N9 million, Mercedez e320 valued at N11 million, Mercedez 2 500 valued at N45 million, Mercedez s: 500 valued at N30 million, Lexus Jeep bullet proof, valued at N30 million, Lincoln Navigator bullet proof valued at N25 million.

The witness also said Saraki has some shares with the African Petroleum worth N3.6 million.

Paul Erokoro, one of the counsel to Saraki said:“You realised that the defendant was required to declare his assets, those of wife and children below age of 18? What do you see in the (asset declaration form) form?”

Wetkas answered that the cash amount of N1.1 million is in the name of his sons, Tosin Saraki and Seni Saraki

“Yes. I can see N1.5bn in the defendant’s account. And in the defendant’s wife account, N1.5m in Ecobank,”he said.

However Erokoro said that the court is trying to bring down the defendant meanwhile he has more money than the government.

“You are trying to say he took money from government meanwhile, the defendant has more money than the government.”

On hearing this, Rotimi Jacobs, the lead counsel to the federal government said Erokoro’s comment was irrelevant to the court.

Erokoro replied that Jacobs was acting out for the press.

“Some of the things you were mentioning has nothing to do with the case. You are trying to scandalise the defendant. You are only doing this for the press,”said Erokoro.

This statement made the audience applaud Erokoro.

At the time of filing this report, the witness is still being cross examined.
Saraki has been charged to court since September 22, 2015 over 16 counts of corruption bordered on corruption.

Business / Nigeria Oil Output Hits 22-year Low On Renewed Unrest by Mcjerry001(m): 2:20pm On May 10, 2016
Nigeria’s oil output has slumped to a 22-year low, figures showed on Tuesday, because of pipeline sabotage and increasing unrest that has seen major companies evacuate staff.

Data compiled by Bloomberg indicated that output in Africa’s biggest oil producer has fallen below 1.7 million barrels per day (bpd) for the first time since 1994.

Rebels seeking a fairer share of revenue for locals in the oil-rich southern delta are increasingly targeting facilities, posing a fresh security challenge for President Muhammadu Buhari.

The attacks have sparked fears of a repeat of violence and kidnappings that plagued the region in the 2000s and saw Nigeria’s output cut by a third, slashing government revenue.

It also risks hitting crude supplies at a time when Nigeria’s oil-dependent economy is facing a slump because of the fall in global prices.

Fresh queues at petrol stations around the country restarted this week, following speculation the government was to withdraw fuel subsidies that keep prices low at the pump.

– Rebel attacks –

Last week, rebels from the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) group claimed responsibility for an attack on the Okan offshore facility operated by US oil major Chevron.

The company said on Saturday some 35,000 bpd of crude was lost, although some estimates have put the loss higher.
At the weekend, Anglo-Dutch giant Shell evacuated most of its staff from its Eja production facility near the Bonga field.

Local media said 98 personnel were airlifted to safety by helicopter, leaving a skeleton staff protected by the military. Shell’s Nigerian subsidiary did not confirm the operation.

But it said in a statement it was continuing to monitor the security situation and was “taking all possible steps to ensure the safety of staff and contractors”.

Dirk Steffen, of the Denmark-based Risk Intelligence consultancy firm, told AFP the evacuation was a “precautionary” step because of threats from the NDA.
Steffen, the head of maritime security for the firm, said the NDA issued new threats on May 5 after claiming responsibility for the Chevron attacks.

“This time they specifically name the facilities they would be targeting… I assume this is also what prompted Shell to take precautionary measures,” he wrote in an email.

In February, Shell declared “force majeure” after an attack on a pipeline feeding the Forcados terminal, which typically exports about 200,000 barrels a day. It is expected to resume in June.

– Driving factors –

Consultants BMI Research said the renewed unrest in the key region was “a worrying development as it demonstrates the increasing sphere of assets that are under risk”.

“Shell’s much larger Bonga field sits next door to the Eja facility and often exports over 200,000 bpd, highlighting much greater production risks than were previously anticipated.”

BMI said production disruption in the delta has historically been onshore and was a major factor driving Shell’s divestment of onshore assets and switch in focus to offshore blocks.

“The most recent attacks offshore are a new safety concern for those companies which once again find themselves vulnerable to supply disruptions,” it added.

The renewed violence comes after Buhari — facing Islamist militants Boko Haram in the northeast — began a crackdown on endemic corruption in the sector and rampant oil theft.

The government has also said it would wind up an amnesty programme, which was introduced in 2009 and saw thousands of rebels swap violence for monthly training and education stipends.
The upsurge in attacks since January has also been linked to multi-million-dollar corruption charges brought against Government Ekpemupolo, a former rebel leader nicknamed Tompolo.

He is accused of defrauding the government of some $225 million. The NDA is thought to contain his supporters although he has denied any links to the group.
