Romance / Important Questions To Ask Before Accepting A Proposal by mckayne: 3:12am On Oct 20, 2014
After dating your significant other for a while, the two of you may be talking about a future together. It sounds wonderful, and you anticipate the day where the two of you will get married. So when he pops the question, you’re excited and emotional. This is what you’ve been waiting for! However, there are a few things you should ask your partner before you accept the proposal.

“Are you sure this is what you want?”

You would think that a lot of thought goes into the big question before it’s asked, but sometimes, it’s asked on impulse or unclear thinking. Your relationship could be going very well, and engagement (then marriage) seems like the most obvious next step. However, some people have drastically different reasons for getting married.

Your partner’s response can give you insight as to what they’re really thinking. There’s no “right answer” necessarily, but there are certainly a few wrong ones. One of those answers is out of obligation. You don’t want to marry someone because they feel that they have to. This will certainly build resentment over time. Hesitation is also something to take heed of. And if you have any reservations, you should take that into account as well.
Some of what goes into this question includes the lifestyle you two envision. Are you in agreement about children? Are you both supportive of each other’s goals? Are they going to take the vows “for richer or for poorer, through sickness and through health, until death do us part” seriously? Or do you think when thick and thin comes into play, your marriage may not weather the storm?

“Are you ready for change?”

I once heard or read that women get married expecting to change a man, and men get married expecting their wife will never change. Some couples get married because things are going good at the moment they’re dating. The honeymoon phase eventually ends. Married life is different from dating life. Change is inevitable in a long term relationship, but you can’t make someone change. Are you and your significant other ready for that?

Marriage is something to take seriously, as it’s meant to be a lifelong commitment. These questions are not the only ones; you and your significant other have a lot to discuss before you get married. Discussing financial expectations, religious and spiritual beliefs, and work goals are very important. And, you have some questions you should ask yourself too. These questions aren’t meant to ruin the magical moment, but they’re meant to give you a more realistic look if marriage between you two is the right decision.

TV/Movies / Missing Episodes Of "Doctor Who" From 1960s Found In A Cupboard In Nigeria by mckayne: 3:24am On Oct 11, 2013
Nine long-lost episodes of Doctor Who which have not been seen since the 1960s have been recovered after they were tracked down to a store room in Nigeria, gathering dust.

The discovery will cause much excitement for devotees of the long-running series, for which there are dozens of missing episodes dating back to its early years

The previously lost nine shows were among 11 traced to a television relay station and the find brings back to life an entire six-episode story, while another is almost complete.

The newly found programmes - which introduce the character of Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, better known to audiences as The Brigadier - will be available on iTunes from today and will later come out on DVD.

Phillip Morris, the director of Television International Enterprises Archive, unearthed the programmes by looking up the records of overseas shipments of tapes made by the BBC.

The stories, The Enemy Of The World (1967) and The Web Of Fear (1968) and both starring Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor, have now been remastered by BBC Worldwide, the corporation's commercial arm.

Mr Morris said: 'I remember wiping the dust off the masking tape on the canisters and my heart missed a beat as I saw the words Doctor Who. When I read the story code, I realised I'd found something pretty special.'

Only one episode of The Enemy Of The World - which featured Deborah Watling as companion Victoria and Frazer Hines, later to find fame in Emmerdale as Jamie - had remained in the archives, so the addition of programmes one, two, four, five and six have completed the story.

Fiona Eastwood, director of consumer products, BBC Worldwide, said: 'We are thrilled with the recent discovery of The Web Of Fear and The Enemy Of The World and we're very happy to be launching re-mastered versions of these treasured episodes to fans as we celebrate the 50th year of Doctor Who.'

The BBC still had the first edition in the Web Of Fear story, and the new finds mean only number three is missing. The tale introduced Nicholas Courtney as Lethbridge-Stewart, who began with the rank of Colonel but later became Brigadier.

The missing episode has been recreated using 37 still images which were available and the original audio which survived.

Many programmes from the era, along with many classic shows, disappeared as a result of efforts to save space. There are still 27 Doctor Who stories which have not been recovered or for which episodes are missing.

In total, 97 episodes are still unaccounted for.

One episode from both The Enemy of the World and The Web of Fear were shown at a special BBC event in London yesterday.

Episode one of The Enemy of the World is said to be akin to an early James Bond film, with armed villains, a foreign villain and a scene featuring an exploding helicopter.

The Web of fear meanwhile sees the Doctor locked in battle with the Great Intelligence in the tunnels of the London Underground.

The BBC was even accused of secretly filming at an Underground station at the time as its sets were deemed so realistic.

Guests at yesterday's screening included the actors who played Troughton's Tardis companions, Frazer Hines and Deborah Watling.

The show celebrates its half-century on November 23.

There are still 27 Doctor Who stories which have not been recovered or for which episodes are missing.

Travel / 'Prince' Yilkyes Bal Behind UK Migration Scam' by mckayne: 6:08am On Oct 08, 2013
A Nigerian prince ran a huge illegal immigration racket in the UK, a court was told yesterday.

Dr Yilkyes Bala, 54, was accused of using a complex web of security companies to mask a ‘systematic attack’ on Britain’s borders over eight years.

The African royal allegedly used dozens of refugee passports passed to him by a corrupt Home Office official to give fellow Nigerians new identities.

He then employed them and gave them references so they could ‘hit the jackpot’ and obtain a National Insurance number, giving them full rights of citizenship.

Bala even conspired with others to give his second wife and his brother false identities so they could join him at his home in South-East London, the jury heard.

He is on trial with six others – including his wife and ex-wife.

Simon Farrell QC, prosecuting, told Canterbury Crown Court the case was a ‘systematic attack against our immigration laws which took place over many years’.

‘In various ways all these defendants were involved in assisting individuals who had no right to be in the UK to live and work here,’ he added.

‘A corrupt Home Office official, since convicted of misconduct in a public office, assisted by providing hundreds of improperly issued refugee passports.’

Bala referred to himself as ‘His Royal Highness Prince Yilkyes Bala Tonglele PhD State Crown Prince’, the jury heard.

The court was told he runs the Armour Group of companies, which supplies private security guards.

It is linked to other firms including ABC Guarding Ltd, which became Mayfair and Knightsbridge Guarding Ltd in 2006.

Other defendants had senior roles, such as heads of finance and operations.

Mr Farrell said they ‘must have known that these people [illegal immigrants] were changing their identities’, adding: ‘Armour Group wrote references so they could get National Insurance numbers … This is quite sophisticated.

‘What happens is you get one of these passports and then you get a National Insurance number, then you really hit the jackpot … because you can live and work and be here at will.’

The headquarters of Armour Group, in Woolwich, south-east London, received 81 illicit refugee passports, the court heard.

After Bala was arrested, he attempted to blame the property’s receptionist for orchestrating the scam, Mr Farrell said.

The documents are meant for those claiming asylum in Britain, often fleeing religious or political persecution.

But the Home Office worker was illicitly applying for them in the name of non-existent relatives of real refugees.

She then passed them to Bala and other defendants who are accused of using them to help illegal immigrants stay in the UK.

All seven defendants deny conspiracy to breach immigration law between February 2003 and June 2011 and other immigration offences.

Politics / Concerning Tinted Vehicle Glass – All You Need To Know By CSP Frank Mba by mckayne: 3:01am On Apr 05, 2013
In Nigeria at the moment, the decision by the Police High Command to ensure a strict enforcement of the relevant laws prohibiting unauthorized use of tinted glasses on our roads is predicated on the need to effectively tackle contemporary security challenges in the land and ultimately serve the common good of all Nigerians. Intelligence reports and empirical statistics at the disposal of the Police Force indicate that majority of crimes relating to terrorism, suicide bombing, kidnapping, gun-running, human trafficking, armed robbery and other related offences are committed with the use of vehicles with tinted glasses. Perpetrators of these heinous crimes hide under the cover of tinted glasses to ply their nefarious trade. It has therefore become a matter of urgent national security importance that indiscriminate use of vehicles with tinted glasses be checked in accordance with our laws.

The good news however is that the Law authorizes the appropriate authority (in this case the IGP) to issue tinted permits to Nigerians on health and security grounds if they are so qualified. Persons desirous of obtaining tinted glass authorization are advised to follow the following steps:

(a) Write a formal application to the IGP for the use of factory tinted glass, stating the reason for use, bearing in mind that approval of such application is predicated on health or security reasons only.

(b) Applications should be accompanied with the following:

(i) Photocopies of all relevant particulars of the vehicle.

(ii) Photograph of the vehicle.

(iii) Profile of the applicant with relevant background information.

(iv) Passport size photograph of the owner of the vehicle.

(v) Any other supporting document/information that may help to justify the request.

The Police authority conscious of the fact that some unscrupulous Police Officers may take advantage of the new regime of enforcement to engage in the harassment and extortion of helpless motorists, has issued strong warnings to all Policemen charged with the responsibility of enforcing the law to ensure that they act within the confines of the enabling laws and the Police Code of Conduct at all times. Command Commissioners of Police have been charged to ensure strict supervision of men deployed for these duties while the IGP Monitoring Units have been empowered to arrest and bring to book any officer found acting in a manner inconsistent with his or her oath of office. Police Officers are also warned to desist from harassing Nigerians who have already obtained valid tinted glass permits, as provided by the extant laws.

Finally, the Inspector-General of Police calls for the support, understanding and cooperation of all Nigerians, including corporate citizens as the Force embarks on a strict enforcement of the tinted glass laws.

Politics / Ihejirika: Terrorists Smuggled Explosives Into Lagos In Fuel Tankers by mckayne: 2:21am On Apr 05, 2013
Two weeks after the plot to bomb about 16 landmarks in Lagos was uncovered and 14 culprits arrested, new information has shown that the suspected terrorists had smuggled in the said explosives and the detonators in empty fuel tankers.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Azubike Ihejirika, who made this disclosure yesterday at the second day of the interactive session on Military-Media Relations in Nigeria, held in Lagos, said the plot was nipped in the bud through intelligence reports.

This is just as the guest speaker, Editor-in-Chief/Chairman of THISDAY Newspapers, Mr. Nduka Obaigbena, called on the military to revamp, restructure and properly fund its intelligence unit for optimal result in curbing the activities of the terrorist groups.

Obaigbena made the statement following the destructive activities of the terrorist group, which has made life unbearable for Nigerians.

Ihejirika said: “The new information at our disposal revealed that these suspected terrorists had smuggled in the large quantity of explosives into Lagos in empty fuel tankers.”

THISDAY further gathered that the terrorists had chosen that route to avoid suspicion, thereby blending with other tanker drivers on the roads to beat security checkpoints.

While admitting that terrorism all over the world cannot be won without the cooperation of the media, Ihejirika urged the Fourth Estate to always balance their reports before dissemination.

He maintained that the army hierarchy would continue to seek the attention of the media in propagating its activities, stressing that the relationship was a symbiotic one that would galvanise into a better Nigeria.

He refuted claims that the army had declared war on Nigerians, stating that its target was against some elements and groups who have chosen to declare war against Nigerians through their unscrupulous actions.

He added that when this happens, the army has no choice than to fight against such insurgents using all elements of war to protect the sovereignty of the country.
On discipline, he flayed the practice by military men who still disobey traffic laws, noting that henceforth any officer caught disobeying existing laws would be dealt with according to the laws.

He said: “Discipline must be maintained, but the task of doing that is enormous. We don’t want to hear again that any soldier broke any traffic laws. We are greatly disturbed when an officer is involved in a traffic offence. We shall not take it lightly again.”

Obaigbena, who spoke on the topic “Enhancing Effective Relationship Between the Military and the Media in a Democratic Dispensation”, said there was need for improved relations between the media and the military.

He said: “You don't need money to engage the media. The only money you need is to pay your officers and men. When last did you brief the media in a proper televised manner? In your briefing, you must separate yourself from your political masters.

“You need an improved relationship with the media to be able to work efficiently. One of such ways is to have quarterly briefings with the media leadership as well as groom a corps of specialised defence reporters who are grounded in the beat.”

He refuted claims that about 90 per cent of defence stories in the media were false, adding that no grounded reporter would set out to carry false news thereby misleading the public.

He said: “The problem is that when situations arise, the military spokesman is often scared to react and then the reporter goes ahead with the story without the angle from the military.

“During the recent navy helicopter crash, rumours were flying up and down and we couldn't reach the spokesperson. So I called the Chief of Naval Staff (CNS) who directed the spokesperson to react and a major source of misinformation was averted.
“You have to be more open. It’s a new world where we have the new media. You can be a part of it and reach out to the public and in that way build trust between the military and the society. Let us forget the past and build a new future.”

He however admitted that there is a capacity problem with the crop of reporters of the day, which he blamed on poor standards of education and low standards of things in the country.

He also called on the army to take into consideration retired personnel who are still strong enough to serve as a reservist corps.

“Retired personnel are often reservists whose knowledge can be called upon. They can be used in policy research and intelligence gathering,” Obaigbena admonished.
He further observed that considering the population of the country, an army of less than 200,000 officers and men is not good enough to serve a nation of 167 million people, and that a lot needed to be done to fight terrorism in the country.

“No matter how good you are as an army, you are not above the people. You are a reflection of the society you serve. Therefore, you must tell your own story and build the confidence and trust of the population.

“The workings of the army should be technologically driven. Do you have drones to gather intelligence, do you have the wherewithal, equipment and trained personnel?

"Are you part of your communities? In this regard, the army should understand the culture and religion of the people in those communities to be able to deal with the enemy within.

“What we need now is a new Nigerian Army that earns the trust and respect of the Nigerian people in order to effectively deal with our internal security challenges,” he said.

NYSC / Fake NYSC Orientation Camp Surfaces In Nasarawa, 62 Fake Corps Members by mckayne: 4:12am On Apr 04, 2013
NIGERIA Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nasarawa State command, on Monday, arrested 62 fake corps members at another fake National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp at Tammah village, in Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

The Nigerian Tribune gathered that the fake orientation camp was to operate for just one day, in which all the fake corps members would take their photographs with both the NYSC vested crest and other kits and were likely to be issued fake certificates forthwith for future references.

Parading the suspects, 44 females and 18 males, the state commandant, Mr Andekin Amos Musa, said the arrest was made possible through the routine surveillance of members of the state command, adding that four drivers, who convened them to the village and one of the photographers assigned for the illicit job, were also arrested.

According to him: “The suspected fake corps members were arrested at the outskirt of Nasarawa town near the Government Secondary School and investigations are still on, as they will be charged to court immediately after investigations. Our investigations thus far revealed that one Mr Chinedu, was the coordinator and director of the fake camp.

“Further investigations revealed that the suspected fake corps members paid money ranging from N120,000 to N200,000 before they were admitted to the camp. “I want to warn parents and guardians to monitor their children and wards very closely, so as to curb their excesses,” he added.

In an interview with newsmen, some of the suspects, who were alleged to be running evening classes at the University of Jos, Jos, Plateau State capital, lamented that they were lured into it, saying, “we were not aware it is fake due to our desperation to get job after the education, because without the NYSC certificate, we may not get a job in the future.”

It will be recalled that the command had paraded fake corps members, who were arrested at two different fake camps in preparations for induction and orientation in the outskirt of the state, recently.

Politics / JTF Destroys Terrorists' Armoury, Arrests Four In Kano by mckayne: 8:02am On Mar 29, 2013
Operatives of the Joint Military Task Force (JTF) in Kano State yesterday arrested four terrorists, including an improvised explosive devices (IEDs) specialist during two separate raids in Kano metropolis.

The JTF operatives also stormed a residence at Gaida Ajawa along Kano western by pass used as an armoury by the terrorists and uncovered six AK-47 riffles, 15 hands held IEDs, 189 rounds of ammunition.

According to a statement made available to journalists by the JTF revealed that items recovered included 11 bags of fertilizer, 200 empty containers of assorted beverage drinks, wires and other materials for making IEDs.

The statement signed by the JTF spokesman, Captain Ikedichi Iweha, revealed that other items recovered from the suspects were one FN riffle, one general purpose machine gun (GPMG), one SMG riffle, one pump action riffle and one PPK pistol magazine, two smoke guns, 43 rounds of 5.56mm SMG ammunition, two containers of liquid chemical substances and eight rounds of 9mm ammunition for PKK pistol.

The statement revealed that: “Earlier this afternoon, the IEDs manufacturing specialist for the terrorists network in Kano was also arrested at a farm centre.

“You may have observed that there has been a rise in recent times of activities of terrorists in the state.

“This may not be unconnected with the influx of terrorists fleeing from Maiduguri, Damaturu, Potiskum and other havens of terrorists as a result of pressure being mounted on them by the JTF operatives in these areas.”
The JTF also decried the fact that the terrorists secured accommodation easily in Panshekara, Ja’en, Mariri, Farawa, Hotoro, Sharada and other outskirts areas in the state despite appeals to property owners to desist from renting their properties to terrorists.

“JTF in Kano will not allow the state to be a haven for terrorists. These having fallen on deaf ears, we would go a step further in not only destroying any property which is found to accommodate terrorists but will also arrest the owners of such properties, treating them as accomplices even if they do not reside in the said properties,” the statement added.

The JTF further warned terrorists that it would unleash its full weight and might on any terror network anywhere they are traced within Kano and its environs, assuring them that they will not rest on its oars in ensuring the safety of the good people of the state and their interests.

Religion / Steps To Obtaining Supernatural Breakthrough In Prayer by mckayne: 7:32am On Mar 25, 2013
So many of us spend so much time wondering why our prayers have no efficacy. kevin shorter advices four basic ingredients required for an effective prayer life. Prayers that move mountains

1. We Need Faith to Have Supernatural Breakthrough in Prayer

If you have faith as small as a mustard seed… (Matthew 17:20).

We develop faith through are personal time with God. Learn more about Him through reading the Bible. Be encouraged by stories like Joshua asking for the sun to stand still. God is the same yesterday, today, He can do it again. Learn more about God through your personal prayers. Ask God things in prayer and wait for how He answers you. This communication with God will grow your faith.

We develop faith through taking risks. We need to step out of the boat and see if we sink. We need to place our feet in the roaring river to see if God stops its flow. Faith is demonstrated by doing things that show belief in God over things that you see. You will never see miracles through your prayer if you are too afraid to take risks in what you pray.

2. Holiness Will Lead You to Take Risks in Prayer

Without holiness no one will see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

Holiness does not mean you never sin. Holiness is primarily being set apart. This will include making choices that are different than the world. It includes a healthy fear of God that will keep you from sin. However, holiness primarily is a commitment of the heart to follow God above all else. This will include choosing to obey God’s leading to pray for someone even if you are afraid they will mock you or afraid that God will not come through. What do we love more, God or our comfort?

3. Thankfulness Will Move God’s Spirit Toward Breakthrough

Give thanks in all circumstances (1 Thessalonians 5:17-19).

Thanksgiving is the oil that enables God’s Spirit to greater functionality through your life. Thanksgiving reveals what you are focusing on. Doubt and fear focus on the circumstances of life. Thanksgiving realizes that every good thing comes for our Father. Thanksgiving also is an act of faith in the prayer promises of Jesus — the One who promised is faithful to complete it.

|
4. Community Will Increase Your Faith in the Supernatural

That you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith (Romans 1:12).

Your faith is strengthened by others with faith. This is why God sent Mary to stay with Elizabeth during the early stages of her pregnancy with Jesus. God was doing a new thing, and He was protecting Mary by having her be with someone who was also experiencing God’s miracles.

Health / LATEST CANCER INFORMATION - From Johns Hopkins by mckayne: 5:10pm On Feb 27, 2013
AFTER YEARS OF TELLING PEOPLE CHEMOTHERAPY IS THE ONLY WAY TO TRY AND ELIMINATE CANCER, JOHNS HOPKINS IS FINALLY STARTING TO TELL YOU THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE WAY …

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to more than 10 times in a person's lifetime.

3. When the person's immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has multiple nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing diet and including supplements will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastro-intestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7. Radiation while destroying cancer cells also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to STARVE the cancer cells by not feeding it with foods it needs to multiple.

What cancer cells feed on:

a. Sugar is a cancer-feeder. By cutting off sugar it cuts off one important food supply to the cancer cells. Note: Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in colour. Better alternative is Bragg's aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells will starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little chicken rather than beef or pork. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruits help put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to cellular levels within 15 minutes t o nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells.

To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C).

e. Avoid coffee, tea, and chocolate, which have high caffeine. Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer-fighting properties. Water--best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines will become putrified and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body's killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Flor-ssence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body's own killer cells to destroy cancer cells. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body's normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor.

Anger, unforgiving and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

Career / Re: Total Oil And Gas Workers by mckayne: 3:37am On Feb 18, 2013
debosky:

I was talking about generalist O&G courses by many lower quality universities in the UK designed to attract people using the label of 'oil and gas', not those in other countries. The MASc in Canada may be a good course if the course content gives you skills necessary to compete for jobs in the industry.

It depends on the specific case (what school and the curriculum) for the particular institution you are talking about. Do you have a particular school in mind?

Your comment looks more specific and gives more room for comfort. Kindly see a write-up on the course below:

"The program will provide the latest technical knowledge on upstream, production, and downstream aspects of oil and gas engineering. The program will also address serious issues faced by the oil and gas industries, such as sustainable development, environmental protection, risk, reliability and safety. In addition, the program will cover drilling engineering, phase behavior of petroleum fluid, production engineering, compact process equipment design, offshore environmental operations, and natural gas engineering. Debosky,

What would you say about an MASc in oil & Gas in Canada. You made a comment earlier about it being a "generalist course used to lure unsuspecting students".
Would you be kind enough to elaborate why this is and why you would advice against one studying such a course.

Thanks

Dear Almighty Sir,

I don’t know what time it is in your area so I’ll simply say good day Sir. I’m very grateful for making me experience 2013 and I’m sorry for all my sins in 2012.

I would have promised not to sin in 2013 but I don’t want to lie because you already know my future. Please help me be a better and more successful person this year. Also protect and bless my family, friends and fans.

I hereby present some personal issues before you:
1. Will Nigeria be better this year or ever? If no I seek your approval to go and take up citizenship somewhere else but if yes be fast before they empty our treasury and our oil wells run dry.

2. Please help us with the exchange rate. Help de Naira catch up with the dollar.

3. Have you relocated Hell to Nigeria? If no, what are Boko Haram and Kidnappers doing here?

4. Do we allow GEJ do another term? If no please do something before we ‘Occupy Everywhere’.

5. Adjust the brain of our youths so that their savings will end up in bank accounts not boutiques and night clubs.

6. There are more diseases now than brands of condom available. What do we do? Urgent answer required.

7. Please is your son coming soon? We have forgotten the meaning of true love since the last time he came.

8. Please I need your BB pin if possible, I want to send you pictures and links of what pastors and government officials are doing with our money. I guess you already know.
On behalf of my wife and children I say thank you.

Yours Faithfully

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Big Legacy Of Roman Abramovich For Chelsea by mckayne: 5:48am On Jan 09, 2013
ROMAN ABRAMOVICH has safeguarded Chelsea's future with an astonishing £500million trust fund.

The Russian billionaire has ensured that for 10 years after his death there will be £50m available for transfers and wages each year.

It is a move designed to keep Chelsea at the forefront of world football even if Abramovich is not there.

And it also gives Chelsea a safety net to prevent the club from going bust if anything happened to the owner.

Abramovich put the plans in place when he first bought Chelsea from Ken Bates, but has regularly updated the terms of the trust fund to keep pace with the club's spending.

The news will come as a major relief to Chelsea fans concerned that, without Abramovich's fortune, the club would lose ground on the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Abramovich has transferred some of the trust fund into shares, but the vast percentage will be available in cash to spend on players and wages.

The Russian has ring-fenced the club's assets to ensure he leaves an astonishing legacy.

Religion / Paradox Of Our Time - Life's True Story by mckayne: 4:47pm On Dec 21, 2012
The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways ,but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We've learned how to make a living, but not a life. We've added years to life not life to years. We've been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We've done larger things, but not better things.

We've cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We've conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We've learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete...

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn't cost a cent.

Remember, to say, 'I love you' to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

If you don't share this with anyone....Who cares?-George Carlin

Religion / Bishop Oyedepo's Winners' Chapel Accused Of Exploiting British Worshippers by mckayne: 1:39am On Oct 21, 2012
A church run by a controversial multi-millionaire African preacher has been accused of ‘cynical exploitation’ after its British branch received £16.7 million in donations from followers who were told that God would give them riches in return.

Followers are ferried in double-decker shuttle buses to the church, handed slips inviting them to make debit card payments, and are even told obeying the ministry’s teachings will make them immune from illness.

Today’s Mail on Sunday revelations about the Winners’ Chapel movement have prompted the Charity Commission to review the charitable status of the church – one of the fastest-growing in the UK.

Winners’ Chapel is part of a worldwide empire of evangelical ministries run by Nigeria’s wealthiest preacher David Oyedepo, who has an estimated £93 million fortune, a fleet of private jets and a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Revelations about the Winners¿ Chapel movement have prompted the Charity Commission to review the charitable status of the church ¿ one of the fastest-growing in the UK.

Plenty to smile about; Preacher David Oyedepo of the Winners Chapel movement aboard one of his private jets. He also owns a Rolls Royce Phantom

Dubbed ‘The Pastorpreneur’, he was accused earlier this year of slapping the face of a young woman he said was a witch. The assault case was struck out but is being appealed.

Branches of the church have sprung up in major UK cities in a huge recruitment drive centred on Mr Oyedepo’s ‘prosperity gospel’. This claims that congregants who make regular donations and pay tithes – a ten per cent levy on their income – will be rewarded financially by God.

Followers are urged to target vulnerable people such as the lonely, the sick, the homeless and the suicidal as potential candidates for conversion.

Last night, Labour MP Paul Flynn said Winners’ Chapel was cynically exploiting supporters. ‘They [Winners’ Chapel] are making clearly spurious claims and it seems to be a cynical exploitation of the gullible,’ he said.

Referring to the slapping incident, Mr Flynn added: ‘What is also alarming is the reported violence and the lack of respect for the status of women. It’s taking us back to a previous age of ignorance and prejudice that we all thought the church had escaped.’

This newspaper’s investigation can further disclose:

Congregants are handed a payment slip requesting payments using cheque, cash or debit card when they enter London’s Winners’ Chapel.

Donations to the ministry in England almost doubled from £2.21 million to £4.37 million between 2006 and 2010.

Mr Oyedepo’s superchurch in Nigeria received £794,000 or 73 per cent of the charitable donations paid out by the British Winners’ Chapel between 2007 and 2010. This was despite claims in Africa that he is enriching himself at the expense of his devotees.

The registered charity has spent £6.81 million on evangelism and ‘praise, worship and fellowship’.

The church’s ‘Joseph Squad’ preaches in British prisons and has a weekly broadcast named ‘Liberation Hour’ on satellite and cable TV here.

In the past three years, Winners’ Chapel churches have been established in Liverpool, Birmingham, Leeds and Bradford, adding to those in London, Manchester, Dublin and Glasgow.

An undercover Mail on Sunday reporter attended Sunday services at Winners’ Chapel’s ‘London HQ’ in Dartford, Kent, which attracts 1,000 congregants – chiefly African and Caribbean immigrants. It is run like ‘a business conference’ by Mr Oyedepo’s son, David Oyedepo Jnr. Packed buses deliver singing worshippers from South-East London, Essex and Kent to the huge auditorium.

The reporter saw a payment slip being given to every person entering the church encouraging them to donate money by cheque or cash or to fill in a form with their debit card details. The slip said tithes should be paid separately using a ‘Kingdom Investment Booklet’ and the reporter was informed that payments could also be made by phone. A pastor told the worshippers: ‘You shall be financially promoted after this service in Jesus’s name if you are ready to honour the Lord therefore with all your givings, your tithes, your offerings, your Kingdom investment, your sacrifices.’

Congregants were told to fill in their slips and hold them above their heads while the donations were blessed.

One of the fleet: A jet belonging to Mr Oyedepo - he has at least two that he bought with his huge fortune

The service was interspersed with testimonies. ‘I received a bill from the bank that I didn’t understand, so I prayed,’ said one congregant. ‘A few days later, the bank wrote to apologise for their mistake – Hallelujah!’ ‘Hallelujah,’ the audience shouted back.

Congregants were told they could gain favour by persuading others to follow Mr Oyedepo’s teachings. His son said: ‘Look around you. Someone is sick and already wishing he or she were dead, that is a fruit ripe to harvest. Someone is confounded and considering suicide as an option, that is another fruit that is ripe to harvest.

‘Someone else is lonely and wondering if there is any future for him, that is another fruit ripe to harvest.

‘Also there are many men and women, young and old that are homeless, these are fruits ripe to harvest.’

The reporter was taken, with 20 other new recruits, to a room where preachers gave sermons claiming acceptance of the Lord would prevent them ever being ill or suffering misfortune.

The Mail on Sunday has seen video footage of Mr Oyedepo striking a woman across the face and condemning her to hell after she said she was a ‘witch for Jesus’. He attacked her in a Winners’ Chapel superchurch, believed to be in Nigeria, in front of worshippers. A separate video shows him saying: ‘I slapped a witch here last year!’

In May, he was sued for £800,000 over the alleged assault. The case was struck out – a decision which is now reported to have been appealed.

The Winners’ Chapel movement, also known as the Living Faith Church, has hundreds of churches in Nigeria and across Africa, the Middle East, the UK and the US.

Mr Oyedepo has received fierce criticism in Africa. One Nigerian journalist accused him of ‘leading a growing list of pastorpreneurs – church founders exploiting the passion and emotion that Christianity commands to feather their nests’.

Marriage: Seen here with his wife Faith, Mr Oyedepo has a son who runs services at the chapel's London headquarters

Catholic Cardinal Anthony Okogie criticised such preachers for placing materialism above Jesus’s message. He reportedly said: ‘They have been skinning the flock, taking out of the milk of the flock.’

Among Mr Oyedepo’s fleet of aircraft are said to be a Gulfstream 1 and Gulfstream 4 private jets. It is also claimed he and his wife, Faith, travel in expensive Jeeps flanked by convoys of siren-blaring vehicles. He is the senior pastor of Faith Tabernacle, a 50,000-seat auditorium in Lagos reputed to be the largest church in the world, and runs a publishing company that distributes books carrying his message across the world.

His other business interests span manufacturing, petrol stations, bakeries, water purification factories, recruitment, a university, restaurants, supermarkets and real estate. The latest addition is a commercial airline named Dominion Airlines.

A Charity Commission spokesman said: ‘The Charity Commission is currently assessing what, if any, regulatory role there is to play with regard to the complaints made against the World Mission Agency. It is important to clarify that this does not constitute an investigation at this stage.’

Winners’ Chapel administrator Tunde Disu declined to comment.

Romance / Cheating Doctor Who Arranged To Marry Two Women Just One Month Apart Killed Hims by mckayne: 7:16pm On Oct 06, 2012
Cheating doctor who arranged to marry two women just one month apart killed himself when his double life was exposed

A cheating Nigerian-born GP who led a double life with two women for seven years and promised to marry both of them one month apart hanged himself when his secret was exposed, an inquest heard.
Dr Festus Ojagbemi, 49, known as ‘Wally’, who had a surgery in Strood, Kent, lived with long-term partner Jackie Hammond in the week and lover Bamidele Ayeni on weekends - for seven years.
He fathered a child with Miss Ayeni - a popular Nigerian singer known as Dele Achiever - and said he would wed them both, while racking up thousands of pounds worth of debt taking them on holidays.

But when the secret was discovered by Miss Hammond he stabbed himself twice in the chest at his surgery, St Mary’s Medical Centre, the inquest was told. But he survived that attempt on his life.

While recovering in hospital he told police and both women he was attacked by a stranger. But he eventually confessed the truth to officers - only to take his own life four days later on February 12.
Miss Hammond later found him at the detached house they shared in Hempstead, Kent. A note signed with his nickname was on the TV cabinet near where he was found in the conservatory.
The cost of leading the double life emerged after his death, the inquest in Maidstone, Kent, heard. Miss Hammond said a credit card firm phoned after he died, claiming he owed them £10,000.
She said: ‘I started phoning and everyone told me how much he owed them. By the time we got to the 10th or 11th, the bill was huge. We just couldn’t get our heads around it.
‘I work, I get paid, so we don’t talk about finances. If we go on holiday he would be the one that pays.’
The couple had planned their wedding for this May after almost 20 years together.
Miss Hammond said he killed himself because he felt guilty after the double life was uncovered, adding: ‘He just wanted me to notice he was hurting because of what he had done to me.’
Miss Ayeni did not appear at the inquest but the hearing was told of evidence she gave to police. She claimed Dr Ojagbemi proposed last October and that they were planning a wedding in April.
They had a child, he rented a flat for them, visited on weekends and they would talk six or seven times a day, she said.
Miss Ayeni, who sings Juju and pop music, said she knew about the other partner, but he told her he ‘did not love her any more’. She told officers: ‘I would call him “baby” because he was my baby. I would also call him my "husband".

‘He’s intelligent, loving, caring, he buys me lots of things. Why would he do this to himself? Wally told me not to give anyone the news that we were getting married in April because everyone would go on about it.’
'He’s intelligent, loving, caring, he buys me lots of things. Why would he do this to himself?'
Bamidele Ayeni
The court heard how the doctor, who also had two other children to two other women, had been off sick from work since December 2011, suffering from high blood pressure and vertigo.
The inquest was also told he had called Miss Ayeni on the day he died to tell her he loved her - and even discussed a wedding photographer with Miss Hammond on the morning he killed himself.
Recording a verdict of suicide, assistant deputy coroner Gail Elliman, said: ‘I am satisfied Dr Ojagbemi took his own life. I won’t go into any speculation about the reasons for doing so.’
