Unfortunately I have no resource to ship internally in Nigeria currently. At least in a way to guarantee quality of delivery.

I suppose you ship to Lagos from the states. Can I get someone to pick up from Lagos. If yes, how do we go about the transaction.

I'll have these available in Ibadan starting next Friday http://sales.kuluso.com/shop/diagnostic-tool/obdii-bluetooth-scan-tool/

It requires an Android phone. Once you but a scanner, from any source, record those codes down, then clear the codes and drive you car and wait to see what codes come back.

You can search online for OBD2 code translations. Or you can post it on here and good folks can help you decipher.

@ CityNG, I'm interested in the bluetooth scanner. I'd appreciate if you can ship one down to kaduna for me. Let me know what it takes. Thanks

Where's your location? You can order from konga, jumia, amazon, ebay or aliexpress. You can get units from cityNG or nissparts.

Yes,I intend ordering online. I reside in kaduna. However, the ones I found on konga range between 6k and 60k. I definitely won't go for a pricey one.what brand can one use for basic troubleshooting. Thanks

I appreciate your modesty.
I asked about getting a low priced obdII scanner. Can you point me in the right direction.
The guys here(kd) charge 5k per scan and many of them don't even understand the codes. Thanks

I wish I was auto savvy like you (mike), siena and ikenna but I think our forum can lean heavily on the few of you guys who have the know-how. As the rest of us get to know more, we should be willing and ready to share. I want to see a day when our forum will be 200 pages long and rich with information. When folks won't be scared of touching the Lexus. The benz myth has been busted. We can do same. Sorry for the late response
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by mdenigma(m): 12:25pm On Feb 17, 2015
Good day my people. Hope our 'Lexuses' have been performing.
I 'm of the opinion that our forum can be more robust. I've been on the Benz forum for some time and their team spirit is inspiring. They make you want to get a benz. Guys, let's make ours more involving and helpful.
Lastly, what low priced but efficient obdii scanner can I get for my 08es 350. I found some on konga ranging from 4k to 60k.
God help us all

The sbs costs N125 k to fix secondly it has a counter 300,000 thousand times brake press. You need to buy a c3 scanner to avoid wrong diagnosis finally the car is v8 and you need to service with mobil one always thats like N16k. The air shocks on my S430 cost me N25 k for the right front and N15k for the right back. The airpump on my car is weak so i need to change it but a friend told me to fill the pump piston with some filler that will cost N2k. The cost of running my benz is ok i service once in six months luxury is super very fast i drive 230kmph with ac on some times . I do laser alignment and wheel balancing once i travel say 10 00km or more (bad roads) that costs me N4k in all. But pls stay with your lexus or add money and get 2008 E class.

Hmmm. So its gonna be lexus till I'm buoyant enough to foot the kind of bills I'm seeing here. Truth be told, on a good stretch of asphalt I've been able to give many a benz a run for their money. Definitely my next whip is gonna be an E class. Till then I remain a diligent student. Thanks guys

I want to assume you don't stay in lagos they are tons of E500 and E550 on the road and I would advice you get anything from the 2006 E class cos Benz stopped using the SBC and back to ABS the SBC can be very expensive to fix when it goes bad. Truly if you want more power coming from the ES 350 you have to step up to the E500 cos the V6 in that Lexus ES350 is pretty powerful. The E500 doesn't ride on the normal spring suspension it rides on the Airmatic Shocks i.e Air Shocks so you would be gliding over bad roads and won't even notice but the luxury comes at a price it's also an expensive fix if they go bad. So get ready.

Many thanks bro. You're right. I don't stay in Lagos. You rightly guessed my concerns. How reliable are the air shocks. How much do they go for. can they be replaced with springs when they go bad. How about the electricals, does the wire harness go bad like it does in some models. How reliable is the the V8. Lastly, can u suggest any less expensive to maintain but agile Benz. Ive gotten used to the luxury Lexus offers ; grin

Good evn merc enthusiasts. I've developed keen interest in this brand.I'm in the process of trading in my 08 lexus es 350 for an 03 benz e500. I want more power but not at the expense of peace of mind. Lexus has been faithful but I'm being attracted to this brand. I rarely see E500's on Naija roads. Guys your sound counsel is all I need.thanks

Heed to this ill advice at your lexus peril.

I quite agree with you. what do you advice I do about the sound?
I'm not a technical person but I'm quick to learn. Could you explain what dangers there are if one uses total quartz 5000 in a lexus?
Is the high mileage an indicator for a switch to heavier oils?
Thanks
Car Talk / Re: Club-Lexus by mdenigma(m): 8:44pm On Jan 13, 2015
Hello house. I'll appreciate your advice on this matter. I use the rrecommended sae 5w30 oil on my 08 es350 which has covered about 140k miles. I change oil and filter as the manual prescribes. Recently I noticed this clanking sound whenever I turn on the car after sitting in the sun for long. It doesn't happen in the morning. My mech says its because the oil is too light and it dries off the timing chain resulting in the said noise. He suggests I start using total quartz 5000 which is thicker and cheaper. The ride drives silky smooth other than this issue.
Health / Re: Bathing With Sponges & Without Sponges. by mdenigma(m): 1:41pm On Nov 24, 2014
Here are facts that you might find useful.
Using a sponge especially the coarse ones is not a healthy practice. Your skin has a lot of protective cells which get washed off as you scrub leaving your body prone to disease causing germs.
Soap and water is just ok for healthy skin.

Medicated soaps are also not recommended as they destroy this protective cells on the skin

Most people store their sponges in sponge dishes. This practice allows germs to multiply quickly in the moist environment.
Always dry your sponge.
Change your sponge after 3 months same way you should change your toothbrush.
Your skin is the largest organ of your body. Treat it with care

Car Talk / Re: Toyota Camry 2007 V6 SE Flaring On 3rd Gear When Engine Is Not Warm by mdenigma(m): 3:03pm On Oct 30, 2014
Here's what I found from other lexus es350 users on clublexus.com. The transmission flare can be resolved by running your transmission through all the gears before moving every morning. It takes about 10 seconds. With the engine running shift through P to R,N,D then 4,5,6 then return to P.I assume your transmission is Manumatic. I've tried it for 3 days and it works.

if I may ask. would a scan reveal anything (trouble codes) even if the CEL isn't on?
I was of the impression that if I don't get a CEL I don't need a scan.
Kindly enlighten me on this
Car Talk / Re: Toyota Camry 2007 V6 SE Flaring On 3rd Gear When Engine Is Not Warm by mdenigma(m): 4:20pm On Oct 24, 2014
I noticed this too on my 2008 lexus es350. It only happens in the mornings before the engine warms up where the rpm goes between 3500 and 4000 before it engages the 3rd and 4th gears. That's a flare. if your engine is same as mine ( 3.5l v6 2gr-fe matched with a 6 speed transmission) then its a common issue. I found out on clublexus.com that this problem is common to this particular transmission. No known cause or fix but its not usually catastrophic. kindly share any additional info you get with us

Isn't she lovely?
Car Talk / Re: What Car Should A Young Man Get? by mdenigma(m): 2:10pm On Sep 21, 2014
I also faced the same dilemma when I was ready for a car. Here's how I arrived @ a decision.
I didn't want a 'common' brand such as the camry and accord.
I also didn't want unecessary attention from relatives and colleagues who would think you've hit the jackpot cos u drive a benz or a 'jeep'
Maintenance and reliability is also key
I also needed decent power (so a 4 cylinder was out of d mix)
I went online 2 narrow my options
Finally I visited the dealer for a test drive
I settled for a 2008 lexus es350
I'm very pleased with my choice
Luxury,power,class, reliablity and distinction.
I'll recommend the 2010 edition where some exterior and interior upgrades were made
Cheers

What's master warning light? Never heard about that before. Pls take a picture of the instrument cluster gauges when the car is on and running and the fault lights showing.
As for the AFS sensors , is your car using air suspension?

If you want to get the sensors, check online and purchase in www.ebay.com or lexus.sewellparts.com if you have the means or check ladipo in Lagos.

The master warning light is a red triangle that flashes during a system malfunction. My es 350 doesn't have the airs. I'm as green as they come regarding online transactions. How can u help a brother out if I need 2 source for parts? I reside in kaduna, Nigeria.
How are pictures uploaded here?still learning

Do you have a check engine light on?
If not, then the impact on the wheel must had damaged or mis-aligned the VSC wheel sensor.
As for the AFS, maybe the impact had moved a critical component in the Automatic Frontight System. To check if your AFS still operates, in a dark straight area while at stop, turn on the head lamp, then turn on the ignition if the Headlamp swivel and re-aligns themselves, they are still operational but if they don't, it might be the AFS sensor, potentiometer or any ASSY that's got issues. But then you need to scan the car.

Go thru this thread for more info www.justanswer.com/lexus/2a7m4-afs-light-flashing-dash-light-go-periodically.html

The Check engine light is not on. The check vsc light came on with the master warning light. I didn't notice any sensors while the wheel was being worked on(I may be wrong). I've just parked the car cos I don't wanna do more damage.
I'll get it scanned as you've suggested. Are these sensors(AFS and vsc) readily available?
Where can I get them?
This club rocks. Thanks

Hello house. My 08 es350 was hit by another motorist on the rear passenger side. The impact was more on the wheel. The mech changed the shock and arms on dat side.
Problems: since then check VSC keeps flashing on my dash
AFS off also keeps flashing even though I've pushed the button under the dashboard
Are these serious problems?
How do I solve them?
Please help

If you are a dealer in this brands or know anyone who does please help. Thank you.

If its sealed, leave it at that, you don't wish to bear pains from mechanics in Nigeria. However, check/download your maintenance schedule booklet/guide and see when its due for change but still refer to your owner's manual for specific type of ATF.

Check the service stickers and booklets to find out if yours has been serviced and what mileage it was serviced.
I was glad to see my RX330 was comprehensively serviced by lexus of watertown prior to shipment. The ATF, engine oil, Diff oil, coolant, and the serpentine belt was changed by them and I saw it in their service.

The service manual says 'periodic checks and replacement of the transmission fluid are not required'. The car was maintained by Sewell Lexus of Fort Worth, Texas from purchase until it was auctioned @ 160k miles. There was no transmission service during that period. What kind of preventive maintenance can I carry out on the transmission? I discovered online that some sealed transmissions begin to fail from 120k miles.
Thanks lomomike. You've been very helpful

Check konga.com

Roger that.
I discovered the transmission is sealed so one can't check to know if its due for a change. It shifts seamlessly in motion but I don't wanna take chances since I got it @ 160k miles. Any thoughts on how to go about this will be appreciated.

I'm glad you know the specified oil. If you stay within Nigeria, you can check online and order it if you're in Europe, Asia or the Americas, then you can easily get the oil. Once again, you're welcome.

I stay within Nigeria, Kaduna to be precise. Not used to online purchases. What alternatives do I have?

I know the recommended oil for your engine. But I'd advice you to read your car owners manual to get information on the recommended oil for your lexus. If you can't find out, lemme know.

Thanks for your response. I was beginning to think I'm in the wrong section. I checked online and found most dealerships recommend sae 5w20 or 5w30. I don't knw how available and affordable these oils are where I reside. What are the cons of using total quartz 7000? I have other enquiries to make but I guess we'll take them piecemeal.
