You can say that to your deluded self.
Islaam has nothing to do with their actions.
Stop being an emotional layabout!

I will never attribute the dastard action of Rev King (google it)to christianity.

You keep saying this but what is seen all over the world is different except in those countries or regions where western education has been deepened, adherents of other faiths are in the majority, or the government is really committed to punishing such perpetrators. It may not shock anyone to know that those who perpetrated this act may go unpunished at the end of the day.

I asked because you said that you saw it on whatsapp how she was insulting Mohammed. Contrarily, what has been reported is that she was killed for attributing her exam success to Jesus Christ. These are conflicting reports, none for which the killing of the innocent girl was justified.

You are right about the constitution and the rights of all citizens, especially those who are not adherents of the moslem faith. That is why I mentioned- trial in a court of competent jurisdiction, to protect the innocent by all legal means.

However, are you aware that even before the advent of shariah law in the north, people have been killed based on mere accusations? As such accusations are accompanied by jungle justice that removes any chance of the accused getting justice, hence my insistence on fair trials for any accusation whatsoever.

So the target here is to shape the people’s view away from jungle justice to embracing fair trials as a way of addressing their grievances if applicable.

Unfortunately, the issue is not easily a black and white situation citing the constitution. It is very complicated because religion is involved.

Even, the west that introduced to us their brand of civilization, continue to find ways to cooperate with the Arab world, Communist China etc in spite of their very different ways of life, laws and culture.

Shalom!

I got your points.

Even Tinubu sees nothing wrong with killing someone because of blasphemy. Yoruba Muslims may not have the courage to do same, but deep down, they are happy when their northern brothers do. That's why Tinubu can say Yoruba and North are one grin

You should thank God that Christianity began in Nigeria through the SW and that Chief Awolowo encouraged free education. Otherwise, may be the SW would have been similar to the North in this act of barbarism with the kinds of MURIC Akintola and his co-travellers.

Yes, Nigeria is a secular state with conventional courts and laws that have the penal code embedded.

However, years of conflicts have thought us that people allover the world are different with differing laws, customs and religious practices, that may include: from the seemingly sublime to the outrageously barbaric. Overtime some of those laws and practices have evolved, though some faster than the others. Some countries still behead offenders while others who did so in the past have stopped.

And while we may not be able to change all the laws and practices at once, we must at least ensure fairness by subjecting all accusations to judicial trials.

Sokoto and other Northern states appear to practice shariah law, which means blasphemy will likely be an offense. But a competent court would have insisted on proof, which would give the accused the right to a proper defense.

Then the case would have been properly heard to determine whether she really committed any offense or someone just simply set her up, as have reportedly happened in the past.

Personally, I think jungle justice of any sort is injustice, even if it seems okay to the community or mob.

This was the basis of my comment.

As long as you claim to have one Nigeria, Nigeria constitution is supreme to any sharia or customary laws. The constitution guarantees freedom of religion and does not bow to anything called blasphemy. If you want a country where the sharia law is supreme, then you will have to dissolve the country. Besides, sharia law cannot apply to people of other faiths.

Nna mehnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

I think we should abolish religion in Nigeria and anyone seen worshipping in any mosques or churches should be arrested.

Religion has done more harm than good in Nigeria because people, religion brought boko-haram, we have religion yet there are still news of ritual killings here and there, religion brought the thirst for money and envy because the so called men of God no longer attends the burial of the poor.....(A priest refused to offer mass for a dead member simply because he was owing the church.)

Religion is a cancer to Africa because this is not our way of life.

Leave the church out of it. This kind of barbarism will continue to trend in the North as long as nobody is apprehended and punished for it. Can you sincerely tell us where Christians have ever killed and burnt anyone in the history of Nigeria for blaspheming Jesus Christ or Yahweh? And are you saying this act is the first of its kind in the North?

There is no single Igbo coward on Earth. There has never been. Any coward you see bearing Igbo name is definitely a bastard. I went to Catholic primary and secondary schools, so 70% of my classmates are Igbos, 20% Niger Deltans and 10% Yorubas. Almajaris never ever go to school. So, I know whom Igbos are. No single coward in the history of Igbos

There's no tribe without a coward, otherwise the word, 'coward', will not exist in the english language. The earlier you learn to be humble, the better. If a child gets to the house of fear, he will fear. Fear is natural for all mankind. A man that has never feared something in his life since birth is very rear.

I'm sure you know that the Abiola saga and the need to compensate the ill done to the South West informed the emergence of Obasanjo in that primaries in a party that Ekwueme almost single handedly founded.

If Nigeria stakeholders could rally round the South West to assuage their ill feelings and heal their wounds. Can't we also rally round the South East to give us a sense of belonging and justice?

Then produce your own "Abiola" first and then let that scenario of 1998 be replayed in the exact manner.

Your definition of equity is not in accordance with the dictionary of the English language and you had better stopped this lie and grandstanding. Have Ibos ever stepped than for Yorubas in a presidential election primary? If you are asking for favour, it's a different thing and you have to plead for it not claiming any equity. If the demand is not coming from the point of pride, then one Umeh who once said that it's wrong to give the speakership to the South West will not be asking the same South West people to concede the position of the president for his people. Sorry, that's a big insult from him. Rather, you should advocate for the restructuring of the country.

Do you in all honesty think that Obasanjo stood any chance if that contest was left for him and Ekwueme?

Why not? OBJ was once a president and the first military head of state to hand over to a civilian government in Nigeria, even when the fellow he handed over to was not from his tribe. I doubt if you know the honour that the singular act of handing over to a civilian government brought to OBJ globally. On the contrary, Ekwueme was never a president either before or after the 1998 presidential primaries. Whether OBJ had the chance of winning or not, Ekwueme contested with him. If the maxim, one good turn deserves another, is correct, then how are you so sure OBJ wouldn't have won the primary?

The contest should be left for South Easterners just like that of 1998/9 in line with equity and justice.

Did Ekwueme step down for Obasanjo or contest with him in the primary? So, equity to you is to demand with pride from a people what you can never give those people? So that you can continue to boast of having a "manipulating sense" pass them right? That's an insult. There's no equity in arrogance and sense of manipulation.

No contest was left alone for the SW in 1999 if you are not being untruthful to yourself. AD was a party formed in the West by the Yorubas the same way APGA was formed by the Ibos in the East. AD only formed alliance with APP at the presidential level and APGA is not being stopped from doing same. For PDP, a primary election was conducted before OBJ won. Besides, have you gotten an "MKO" like the SW got before 1999 elections?

You'd better chosen the path of humility to gain the heart of the Yorubas by doing what you're supposed to do rather than this flagrant display of arrogance and blackmail. Humility and Pride are like Light and Darkness.

If the contest was left for only Obasanjo and Late Ekwueme, Obasanjo would have received the greatest defeat of his life.

So, how many candidates contested with OBJ then? Can we now have the contest left alone for an "Obasanjo" and an "Ekwueme" so that that Obasanjo can receive the greatest defeat of his life?

we do not consider the Yorubas as a threat. We only demand that in the demand for rotation, equity must be of top most priority.

Can you define equity?

From what you are saying, no Yoruba should contest the primaries but should step down for the Ibos. Have the Ibos ever stepped down for a Yoruba man in such a manner before?

APGA is like the AD of 1998 and no Yoruba is stopping Ibo from contesting on the platform of APGA. PDP is still there, I doubt if any Yoruba has come out to contest the primary election in PDP even though Ekwueme contested in the primary with OBJ back then. Even in APC, where the Ibos appear to be late comers, no Yoruba is stopping Ibos from contesting.

Equity is do to others what you would that they do to you. If you cannot step down for the Yorubas in a primary election, then asking them to step down for you is as good as saying they are FOOLISH, WEAK, and LAZY as some of you have always taunted them.

Isn't this the same Umeh that said in 2011 that it was a sin to give the Speakership position to the S/W:

I love the assertive nature of Igbo leaders nowadays. Ask for the both tickets to go South East, as it went to the south west in 1999. They are clearly getting the message that I have been passing.

If the SW cannot allow equity to reign but think they can continue to look for ways to insult Ndigbo and reap politically from anti-Igbo sentiments, then let the presidency remain in the north. SW will not be president in 2023, they've taken their turn already.

Simple and clear.

Are you simply being scared of contesting with the people you consider as being lazy, weak, and slimmy? Do you think if the country breaks today or is restructured the SW will suffer? Pride goes before destruction.

You cannot come to the SW, be allowed to make money and live peacefully only to rise up and declare that their ancestral home is a no-man's land, even when you have not become the president.

How are they sure you will not initiate a law to take over their land when eventually you become the president after the manner of the Decree 34 of 1966?

If you ain't being stupid, why didn't you ask OBJ in 1998/9 to go to AD to contest or you weren't born then?

Exactly. Ibo candidates are allowed to context in the primaries the way other candidates contested with OBJ then. APGA can form an alliance with another party like SDP or PDP for another Ibo candidate to contest the way AD formed an alliance with APP at the presidential level at that time that led to the candidacy of Olu Falae. Weak, lazy, slimmy Yorubas, as they are often taunted, cannot be a threat to the MIGHTY and GREAT Ibos.
