Politics / Re: Why Does A Country Needs To Borrow When She Can Easily Print More? by medoski(m): 11:51am On Dec 02, 2010 |
I will try to make my language as soft and as accessible as possible. these facts are important: The amount of cash money in circulation is a very small percentage of the amount 0f money people actually take to banks to deposit, that means in a situation of mass withdrawal, the banking system cannot meet cash demand. secondly, there are parametres that actually determines the amount of money to be pumped into circulation. before the oil boom in Nigeria, it use to be the activities of the Agricultural Marketing Board, now it crude oil sales that determines the amount of money in circulation. Also, if we go back to the history of the introduction of paper money, we found out that all the circulating papers used as a means of exchange in old England were all backed by either a gold deposit with goldsmith or some other valuables, before the government of England hijacked the transaction from the Goldsmith. This means that when printint papers to circulate as cash, the nation should be able to redeem the cash in gold or some other valuables. Usually the stock exchange market is a barometre that measures the economic activities in a country. but unfortunately in Nigeria 80% of transactions are informal i e not through the bank. so we find it very difficult to get statistics to make projections I wil make subsequent cotributions . thanks |

Romance / Re: Couples/lovers Sharing Passwords With Each Other: Advantage & Disadvantage by medoski(m): 5:23pm On Nov 05, 2010 |
I am a network/computer security advisor and we dont advise people to share password with their spouse. Here are some password formation rules: 1. Always use a passworded screen saver. 2. Avoid giving your password away. If unavoidable. once the purpose has been served, change it immediately. 3. As a system administrator you are expected to send a monthly or quarterly broadcast to all users to change their passwords 4. As a system admin create a strict policy to only accept strong passwords 5. Users are not allowed to share passwords 6. When typing your password don’t be shy to tell the people around you to look the other way, including people you have given your heart to( you can give him/her your heart but not you password) 7. Never make hard copies of your passwords 8. At the friendly or unfriendly termination of the job of the system administrator or any member of the helpdesk in your organization, all users are expected to change there passwords 9. Never use your login name as your password 10. Never capitalize or double your user name as your password 11. Never use your first or middle name as your password 12. Never use your boy friend/girl friend name as a password 13. Never use your plate number, date of birth or telephone number 14. Never use a password of all digit or letters 15. Never use passwords shorter than six letters 16. Mix capital, small letters and punctuations example 2b%ornot2b? is a good password, or take two lines of a song you like and take the first letters of the words for your password. 17. Never click remember my password on your system 18. Use password that can be quickly typed 19. Use passwords you can easily remember 20. When answering password security questions online always give out wrong answers, for instance : what is your mother’s maiden name ? – answer could be 2+3B 21. What is your favourite color? – Answer could be Ikeja so that people close to you cannot make educated guesses and reset your password 22. Use lengthy smart passwords 23. Use non dictionary passwords 24. Configure password- aging feature 25. Never share your passwords with your girlfriend/wife, You can give them password to your heart but not any other password. visit www.lulu.com/spotlight/onlysose for more |
Politics / Re: What Is Your Opinion On Capitalism? by medoski(m): 6:02pm On Nov 04, 2010 |
Sorry i didnt follow all through the posts. But Socialism is the opposite of capitalism while communism is the final stage of socialism. The major creticism of The Communist Manifesto written by Marx and Angel is the failure of details of the mechanism of power transition, and the encouragement of laziness. The theory of social cycle stratified a society into four psychological units- warriors, Intellectuals, Aquisitors and Labourers. Capitalism is in the Acquisition stage. As a trained econnomist, I actually dont see anything wrong with capitalism except that capitalism couldnt contain luxury. that is why moderation comes in in form of mixed economy. Though in practice communism is a failed ideology. |
Literature / Re: Dele Momodu Presents Write The Future Competition- N5million For Grabs by medoski(m): 5:16pm On Nov 03, 2010 |
Big shame! Dele Momodu has no strategy, or political plan, and he runs for presidency. This is a guise to steal other peoples ideas, research and hard work, and then pass it as his own. Interesting. what is bad in stealing someon e idea that will make things work in Nigeria. The Economist magazine and Shell has patnered in the past to organise essay competition to brin g out ideas that will make things work in the real world. |
Webmasters / Re: Must One Be Good In Mathematics To Be A Programmer by medoski(m): 5:12pm On Nov 01, 2010 |
Donpuzo is making a lot of sense Lets go to the field now, I know a lot of successful programmers out there that are not exactly good in mathematics. Complex application development is a team work, when developing an application that has a mathematical undertone you can consult mathematical gurus. |

Programming / Re: Web Vs Software Development by medoski(m): 3:45pm On Sep 23, 2010 |
Javalove have spoken our mind It is like this;functions makes up commands, and commands makes up programs and programs finally makes up software. Therefore, if you have a degree in software engineering which emcompasses web application development you should be conversant with some programming skills like Java, VB, C/C++, HTML, Perl etc. Learn Java, its cool. Java was introduced in 1995, and .NET is Microsoft's response to the Java phenomenon. Microsoft has jumped headlong into the mobile code fray with their .NET framework, as .NET architecture has much in common with Java. One major difference is a smaller emphasis on multiplatform support. However, Java introduced the world to mobile code and modern network-centric software design. Java is also another good object oriented programming that is platform independent. Java is an extremely powerful full -featured object oriented language which is platform independent i.e It can be written in Windows and run Unix. Just about any business application can be written in Java which includes: database applications, games applications, web based applications, mobile applications, server-side applications etc, but, I am afraid to say this –Java is very difficult to learn. Java is free and can be downloaded from: http://java.sun .com http://www.java.com The various flavors of Java technology are: J2SE- Corel Desktop J2EE- Enterprise/Server J2ME- Mobil/Wireless Java Card Java Web Service visit www.lulu.com/spotlight/onlysose |
