Saboteurs may be turning their attention to the US in a bid to cause oil supply disruptions. A leak was reported on an american offshore installation over the weekend. If there are more incidents like this in the region, sabotage cannot be ruled out. www.platts.com/latest-news/oil/houston/brutus-platform-crude-oil-leak-sees-shell-shut-26443541 |

ExLaidback: That book is too "American" to some extent. I had to skip a lot of pages that didn't catch my interest. Anyway, its a nice book to read. Lots of great insight. |

Can you imagine that dividend yields of about 10% could not stimulate the market the way budget passing and subsidy removal have done. Incredible! We learn everyday. 2 Likes |

A clear difference is that GEJ's subsidy removal was a proactive move while PMB's own is a reactive move. Nigerians got it badly wrong when they opposed the full deregulation that was initially proposed. That was the moment when Nigeria's economy would have taken a new and revolutionary turn. By now, we would have had more functional private refineries running in-country thereby creating jobs, reduce fuel imports, increase GDP, reduce capital flight and many more. 1 Like |

thenationonlineng.net/cbn-insists-wont-devalue-naira/ The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) said yesterday that those campaigning for further devaluation of the naira, or speculating it has already devalued the local currency should have rethink. There were speculations that the CBN would devalue the naira, as a last resort to ongoing economic crisis and will come immediately after raising fuel prices. But CBN’s Acting Director, Corporate Communications, Isaac Okoroafor, dismissed speculations that the naira was already devalued further, saying the speculations are unfounded. Speaking yesterday with The Nation, the apex bank’s spokesman said the regulator will not, and has not devalued the naira. “Naira has not been devalued. The naira devaluation rumour is untrue,” he said. But amidst devaluation uncertainties and shortages of forex, most foreign investors remain cautious about entering the Nigerian market whilst currency and reinvestment risks linger. Analysts at FBNQuest, the investment arm of First Bank of Nigeria Holdings Plc, said a devaluation as a last resort is on its way although the CBN has stiffened its defense of its exchange-rate policy. “We see devaluation under duress and a year-end interbank rate of N230,” it said. |

Joysmart: I think FG will deny the devaluation rumour very soon. What I infer from available info is that the exchange rate for certain imports such as petroleum products will be fixed at a different inter bank rate while the official rate will remain for selected categories of goods and services. This means there will be different rates for different products. 1 Like |

Godisfaithful: Yes o. The current movement in Tiger brands is a typical example. It is a well orchestrated move by someone with enough liquidity to keep the positive momentum going. There is nothing fundamental or technical about it. It is similar to what Otedola has done with FO. Just enjoy the ride! 2 Likes |

New lessons I have learnt and proven this period. 1. The price of a stock depends on the direction of liquidity. 2. Most people tend to follow the trend and are more likely to pay a price that another person has been bold enough to pay! 3. With the right amount of money, and the right timing, you can determine the destiny of ANY stock. I repeat, ANY stock! Cash truly is king. 4. You do not necessarily need to spend too much to set a direction for a stock! 7 Likes |

Crude heading north due to supply concerns from Nigeria and Canada. Unfortunately, Nigeria is not benefiting much from this rally due to the "avengers" and whoever's interest they represent. |

Raider76: I tell you! That is the thing with this market. While you are busy contemplating, the stock takes off right before your eyes and you are wondering why you didn't just push that BUY button the previous day! I spent the whole Thursday contemplating whether to load more FO at 190 or not, next thing I knew, it was swept off! I took the courage to load Transcorp as it went off on Friday. Now I'm watching. I just discovered another coded stock today which I am investigating. Once it pans out fine, I will not look back! |

Raider76: Only very good news can push it to that level. Lets watch and see. |
