Politics / Boko Haram Set To Release Leah Sharibu ―IGP Confirms by MercciLee: 5:39pm On Mar 25, 2018 |
Ibrahim Idris, inspector-general of police (IGP), says Boko Haram insurgents are set to release Leah Sharibu, an abducted Dapchi schoolgirl. Sharibu is the only girl in captivity out of the 110 students abducted on February 19. She was held back because of her refusal to convert from Christianity to Islam. While speaking with reporters on Saturday in Maiduguri, Borno state, the IGP said the insurgents will release Sharibu in no time. He said: “I would have gone to Dapchi today, but by the time I fly in with a helicopter and police escort, they (terrorists) may think I’m trying to break the arrangement.” News of the imminent release of Sharibu has thrown residents of Dapchi into a joyous celebration. Ivanka Trump didn’t vote for father and 9 other things you didn’t know A resident who spoke with journalists said: “We are very happy about this development, but for now we are waiting patiently to receive Leah Sharibu.” Meanwhile, Kachalla Bukar, secretary of the association of parents of Dapchi missing school girls, said, “some residents have run out of Dapchi for fear of the unknown by the time the insurgents bring Leah Sharibu back”. Health / See Why Your Farts Smell So Bad And How To Prevent It by MercciLee: 3:43pm On Mar 18, 2018 |
Passing farts, especially very smelly farts, can be an embarrassing problem. Fortunately, for anyone who experiences smelly gas, there are steps that can be taken to reduce the problem. In most cases, it is natural and healthy for a person to experience intestinal gas. An average person will pass gas multiple times per day. It is not uncommon for farts to be either smelly or produce no odour at all. Both are typically considered normal. What can lead to smelly gas? What symptoms could occur alongside it? What are the treatment options that are available? Causes and other symptoms Smelly flatulence may be caused by high fibre in food, constipation, and bacteria. Causes of smelly flatulence can range from harmless to potentially severe. It may not always be easy to identify what is behind smelly flatulence due to the number of potential causes. Many reasons for smelly flatulence centre on food or medication. However, some causes may indicate an underlying health condition. The following are some of the more common causes of smelly flatulence: intolerance to food, high fibre in food, medications, constipation, bacteria or infections, colon cancer and intolerance to food Typical conditions that can cause smelly flatulence include lactose and gluten intolerances. In both of these conditions, the body’s inability to break down lactose or gluten causes smelly gas to build up and eventually be released. Other people may have food intolerance due to a disease such as celiac disease. Celiac disease is an auto-immune disease that causes injuries to the digestive tract. People with celiac disease have difficulty digesting gluten, which is found in wheat products. ICYMI: Pastor’s wife slumps, dies during praise session in church A person with celiac disease may also experience: weight loss, bloating, diarrhoea and fatigue. If a person suspects food allergies or intolerances, they should see a doctor to test for these conditions. This will help find the exact cause and allow the person to avoid foods that contain the offending ingredient. Food high in fibre Foods high in fibre, such as broccoli, may cause flatulence to be smelly. High-fibre foods are difficult to digest. Although very good for people’s overall health and well-being, these slow-digesting foods break down or ferment in the digestive tract. The fermentation process produces odorous gas. In some cases, foods higher in fibre have a distinctive odour. The natural odour of these foods can also cause flatulence to be smelly. Some foods that may cause odours include: cabbage, broccoli, asparagus and garlic High-fibre foods often also contain more sulphur than other types. This can cause the makeup of a person’s fart to change to include more sulphur, which has a distinct odour and will cause the person to produce smellier gas. Politics / Boko Haram: I Responded Better Than Jonathan, Says Buhari by MercciLee: 5:48pm On Mar 14, 2018 |
President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration’s response to the abduction of secondary school students is better when compared to that of the previous government. While Boko Haram insurgents kidnapped 110 students of Government Girls’ Science and Technical College, Dapchi, Yobe state on February 19, 2018, the group abducted 274 students from Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, Borno state, on April 14, 2014. Former President Goodluck Jonathan was accused of not responding to the Chibok incident on time because he felt it was the antics of the opposition. Speaking during a townhall meeting in Damaturu, Yobe state capital on Wednesday, Buhari said his government acted immediately it learnt of the kidnap at Dapchi. He also spoke about how some Chibok schoolgirls and other captives were released due to the efforts of his government. “The federal government’s response to the unfortunate abduction of the schoolgirls is a clear departure from the insensitivity of the past administration which looked the other way while the Chibok girls were taken away in 2014 and held in captivity for over three years,” he said. “Due to our commitment, over 100 Chibok girls have been rescued and reunited with their families, sent back to school and empowered with requisite skills. “You may recall that recently, our negotiation efforts led to the release of abducted University of Maiduguri lecturers, some women police personnel, students and even an NYSC member. “We, therefore, have no doubt that the Dapchi girls will be rescued or released. I can reassure parents, Nigerians and the International Community that we will do all that is within our power to make sure that the girls are brought back safely to their families.” SOURCE: https://streetnetngr.com/boko-haram-i-responded-better-than-jonathan-says-buhari/

Business / Nigeria’s Inflation Index Drops Slightly by MercciLee: 1:41pm On Mar 14, 2018 |
Annual inflation in Nigeria stood at 14.33 per cent in February, slowing for the 13th month in a row. It is driven by a decline in the pace of food price increases, the statistics office said on Wednesday. The food price index showed inflation at 17.59 per cent in February, compared with 18.92 per cent in January. Core inflation was 15.13 per cent last month. NBS head Yemi Kale said in January he expects inflation to fall faster this year compared with 2017, but that spending ahead of 2019 presidential elections could stoke prices. Food price inflation has remained in high double digits over the last year. Kale has said the country is in a harvest period and output is increasing, which would help lower food prices, but household consumption remains fragile after the 2016 recession. A stand-off that has affected Nigeria’s ability to set interest rates may also be coming to an end, with the possibility of a rate-setting meeting as early as next Tuesday. Nigeria’s upper house of parliament has said it will start screening new members of the Central Bank’s interest rate committee after it held up some of President Muhammadu Buhari’s nominees in a political spat. The bank has kept its main interest rate at 14 per cent for over a year now as it battles inflation and seeks to attract foreign investors to support the naira currency. Nigerians are happy over the development as reflected in tweets on Wednesday. SEGUN @SegunAndrews said: “It’s been 13 months after Nigeria recorded her first disinflation, this was after several months of the persistent rise in the inflation rates. Today, the country recorded 13th consecutive drop in the economic index.” “Nigeria is doing well in taming inflation as data shows 14.33 pct,” Oludare Mayowa said. Proshare Nigeria advised that the policymakers and economic managers in the country need to pay urgent attention to the declining trend in the PMI in order to nip it in the bud. Politics / 2019: Buhari Hints At Contesting, Says He May Return To Benue For Campaign by MercciLee: 8:17am On Mar 14, 2018 |
President Muhammadu Buhari says he might return to Benue state to campaign, ahead of the 2019 presidential election. Buhari, who was in the state as part of his tour to troubled spots across the country, was reacting to a “shopping list” by some stakeholders. “When coming back on the campaign, if coming back on the campaign, I may promise,” Femi Adesina, his spokesman, quoted him as saying. He enjoined the people of Benue to pray for the economy to improve, saying he would not make any promises during the visit. He also appealed to leaders of various groups in the state to convince their constituents that the federal government is doing its best to end the recurring attacks by armed herdsmen in various parts of the country. Commending the efforts of Audu Ogbeh, minister of agriculture, who is an indigene of Benue and “a great asset in my government,” Buhari said his administration would continue to empower farmers with loans by the Central Bank of Nigeria. He added that the agricultural policy of his administration has led to 90 percent reduction in rice importation. Although Buhari is yet to say if he will be seeking re-election in the office or not, his campaign offices have been inaugurated in some parts of the country. Rotimi Amaechi, minister of transportation, has reportedly been appointed the director-general of his presidential campaign ahead of the 2019 elections. Foreign Affairs / Ugandan MP Asks Men To Beat Their Wives, Faces Backlash by MercciLee: 6:44pm On Mar 12, 2018 |
A Ugandan MP has been told to apologise to victims of domestic violence after saying men should “beat” their wives. Onesimus Twinamasiko said on Ugandan television channel NTV “as a man, you need to discipline your wife. “You need to touch her a bit, you tackle her, beat her somehow to really streamline her.” His words have met with strong criticism from social media users, with one leading women’s rights group in Uganda saying he should seek therapy. “Mr Twinamasiko should make a public apology to all women who have experienced violence,” Diana Kagere of the Center for Domestic Violence Prevention (CEDOVIP). “He should do the honourable thing and withdraw that statement. It’s really a shock that a member of parliament would justify violence in any way. This is about crime.” More than one in five women aged 15-49 have experienced domestic or s3xual violence in Uganda, according to a government report published last year. Social media users were quick to react to a short clip circulating online, originally shared by an NTV journalist: While some people backed Mr Twinamasiko’s comments, many others used the hashtag #OnesmusTwinamasikoMustResign: In an interview with BBC Focus on Africa, Mr Twinamasiko attempted to clarify his comments with reference to his own marriage, saying: READ FULL ON https://streetnetngr.com/ugandan-mp-asks-men-to-beat-their-wives-faces-backlash/

Sports / Jack Wilshere On Verge Of Arsenal Exit As Milan Plot Move by MercciLee: 1:02pm On Mar 12, 2018 |
The Express newspaper has reported that AC Milan are plotting a move for Arsenal and England midfielder Jack Wilshere. Wilshere’s contract runs out in the summer and is no closer to agreeing on a new deal, with both parties refusing to budge on a suggested 25 per cent pay cut. Arsenal want to reduce Wilshere’s current salary of £120,000, but Wilshere is not prepared to accept the £90,000 on offer. That has put Milan on red alert, as well as fellow Serie A sides Juventus and Sampdoria who are also keen on the England international. The 26-year-old impressed in the Europa League first-leg tie between Arsenal and Milan. Wilshere made a glittering start in Arsenal jersey before going a run of chronic injuries that nearly ruined his football career. After having recovered from the injuries, the English international has been finding his feet again at the Emirates and has since featured frequently for Arsene Wenger including 2-2 Chelsea draw where he scored an opener. Arsenal have struggled in midfield till they signed Granit Xhaka who has adapted to the English league, offering the physical presence in the centre of the park. This perhaps makes Wilshere’s fate with the Gunners quite unclear. SOURCE: https://streetnetngr.com/jack-wilshere-on-verge-of-arsenal-exit-as-milan-plot-move/

Business / Oil Price Closes In To $70 by MercciLee: 12:41pm On Mar 12, 2018 |
Oil markets climbed on Monday on the back of a drop in the number of United States rigs drilling for more production and as the United States economy continued to create jobs, which industry hopes will drive higher fuel demand. Brent sweet crude was at 65.70 dollars per barrel, up 21 cents, or 0.3 per cent, from their previous close. “A falling rig count and the strong employment data may have helped support prices,” said William O’Loughlin, investment analyst at Rivkin Securities. The US economy added the biggest number of jobs in more than 1-1/2 years in February, with non-farm payrolls jumping by 313,000 jobs last month, the Labor Department said on Friday. In oil markets, U.S. energy companies last week cut oil rigs for the first time in almost two months RIG-OL-USA-BHI, with drillers cutting back four rigs, to 796, Baker Hughes (GE.N) energy services firm said on Friday. Health / 11 Ways To Get Rid Of Yellow Colouration In Your Teeth by MercciLee: 4:27pm On Mar 11, 2018 |
First of all the facts on yellow teeth as provided by MedicalNewsToday: *As the enamel on teeth wears, the yellowish dentin underneath starts to show through. *An easy way of reducing discoloration of the teeth is to brush them frequently. *As people age, their teeth will naturally become slightly discoloured. 11 ways to get rid of yellow teeth Here are 11 ways that may help to get rid of yellow teeth at home. These are an alternative to teeth whitening options that a dentist may offer. 1. Brushing frequently There are various teeth whitening options that can be tried at home or offered by dentists. This is most important after consuming food or drink that may discolor the teeth, such as: Here are some tooth brushing, best practice tips: *brush two to three times a day *brush for 2 to 3 minutes at a time *be sure to brush every surface of each tooth *make circular motions when brushing *avoid brushing the gums or brush them very gently *be sure to reach the teeth at the back of the mouth 2. Whitening toothpaste Whitening toothpaste may help reduce yellowing of the teeth and improve whiteness. These products contain stronger ingredients than standard toothpaste, helping to remove tough food stains. Whitening toothpaste does not contain bleach but may contain a small amount of carbamide peroxide or hydrogen peroxide. These chemicals help to lighten tooth color. According to a 2014 study, whitening toothpaste typically lightens tooth color by one or two shades. 3. Tray-based tooth whiteners Some dentists offer tray-based tooth whitening, but home versions are also available over-the-counter. Tray-based tooth whiteners can lighten the teeth by one or two shades. This tooth whitening method involves wearing a fitted tray over the teeth. The tray contains a bleaching gel and is worn for 2 to 4 hours a day or overnight. It is important to look for products that contain 10 percent carbamide peroxide. These are recommended as safe by the American Dental Association (ADA). 4. Whitening strips Whitening strips deliver a thin layer of peroxide gel on plastic strips. These are shaped to fit onto the surface of the teeth. There is a range of whitening strip products available online and instructions for them vary. Most suggest they should be applied twice a day for 30 minutes. Strips can lighten the teeth by one or two shades. That said, a 2016 study notes there is no evidence whitening strips are any more effective than 10 percent carbamide peroxide gel. The use of carbamide peroxide gel is the ADA recommended method. Foreign Affairs / China President Xi Jinping To Remain In Office Till Death by MercciLee: 3:43pm On Mar 11, 2018 |
China’s parliament on Sunday almost unanimously passed a series of constitutional amendments, including one that removes presidential term limits, allowing President Xi Jinping to remain in office indefinitely. The announcement of the vote, witnessed by reporters in the Great Hall of the People, passed with two “no” votes and three abstentions among almost 3,000 delegates. China’s ruling Communist Party proposed the amendment last month and there was never any doubt it would pass as parliament is packed with loyal party members who would not have opposed the proposal. In the run-up to the vote, critics on social media attacked the move and drew parallels to North Korea or suggested a Mao Zedong-type cult of personality was forming. But the government quickly mounted a propaganda push, blocking some articles and publishing pieces praising the party. The party loyalists who attend the annual session of parliament have said the decision is popular with ordinary Chinese people and asserted that China was lucky to have a leader of President Xi’s caliber. Xi began his second five-year term as party chief in October and at the end of the week will be formally appointed by parliament. The limit of two five-year presidential terms was written into China’s constitution after Mao’s death in 1976 by Deng Xiaoping, who recognized the dangers of one-man rule and the cult of personality and instead espoused collective leadership. The government has said lifting the term limits is about protecting the authority of the party with Xi at its centre. The party’s official People’s Daily has said this does not mean life-long terms, NAN said. The party gave Xi the title of “core” leader in 2016, a significant strengthening of his position at the time. While the presidency is important, Xi’s positions as head of the party and head of the military are considered more important, and these titles are always given first by state media. With the passage of the amendment, now none of the posts have formal term limits. The amendments also include inserting Xi’s political theory into the constitution, something that was already done for the party constitution in October, and clauses to give a legal framework to a new super anti-corruption department. Health / Here’s What Losing An Hour Sleep Does To Your Body by MercciLee: 6:49pm On Mar 10, 2018 |
The start of Daylight Saving Time, when the clocks spring forward by an hour, is among the most hated days of the year. Aside from the obvious reason — losing an hour of sleep — research has shown that the time change, which this year falls on March 11, may contribute to everything from lost productivity to a heightened risk of heart attack and stroke. How can resetting your clocks do all that? TIME asked Dr Cathy Goldstein, an assistant professor of neurology at the University of Michigan School of Medicine Sleep Disorders Center, what really happens to your body when you lose an hour of sleep for Daylight Saving Time. Your circadian rhythm is thrown off Daylight Saving Time’s true impact goes beyond losing an hour of sleep, Goldstein says. Your circadian rhythm, an internal clock that “exists so that wakefulness is promoted during the day, and sleep is promoted at night,” Goldstein says, is also affected. Thanks to circadian rhythms, the body begins secreting melatonin, a sleep-promoting hormone, around 9 p.m., with levels dropping way off by the next morning. Light exposure can moderate your circadian rhythm a bit, but the body more or less relies on consistent sleep and wakefulness cues — so when they’re altered, even by an hour, your sleep gets misaligned. “You take somebody who’s very sleepy when they get up at 6 a.m., and then they get up at 6 a.m. during Daylight Saving Time, and for them, that’s physiologically 5 a.m.,” Goldstein says. “That’s a big problem because you’re waking up at a time when the circadian system is not yet promoting alertness. It’s still pushing for that sleepiness.” Plus, you may lose sleep on both ends of your cycle, since your normal bedtime will feel earlier, potentially making it harder to fall asleep in the first place. Even worse, DST happens on a weekend, when many people stay up later and sleep in. Because of the cumulative effects, you lose more like two or three hours of sleep, and it could take up to a week to get back on a normal schedule, Goldstein says. Sports / Pundit Godwin Odiko’s MD 30 Predictions As Liverpool Take Form To United by MercciLee: 9:00am On Mar 10, 2018 |
Manchester United and Liverpool will get this round of Premier League matches under way with a bang on Saturday as they prepare to collide at Old Trafford. So who will come out on top in the Premier League Match Day 30 fixtures? Read on to find out… MANUTD V LIVERPOOL United showed great character to come from two goals down to win 3-2 at Crystal Palace on Monday night. But against Liverpool, it would be suicidal to start in such a dreadful manner. It’s going to be a very tough match for both sides undoubtedly. And to put that in perspective, the last four meetings between this two have ended in a draw. I think Mourinho will try to sit deep and hit Liverpool on the break again, like he did in the first leg of this clash at Anfield. But I really fear for United’s defence, and I think they will find it difficult to curtail the firing power of the Reds; especially the in-form Mohamed Salah. That’s why I would love to see Eric Bailly start this game ahead of Chris Smalling. That said, United have been struggling since they signed Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal. And it’s becoming obvious United had no need for the Chilean forward after all. Will be interesting to see how José Mourinho set up his attack in this one. However, I see this game ending in stalemate – as Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s body language against Porto on Tuesday showed their minds are fixated on this game. MY PREDICTION... Politics / Ben Bruce Slams Buhari For Offering To Help Ghana Fight Corruption by MercciLee: 4:56pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
Ben Murray-Bruce, senator representing Bayelsa east constituency, says President Muhammadu Buhari made himself a laughing stock by promising to fight corruption in another nation, while the social vice is increasing in Nigeria. Buhari, who was in Ghana on Tuesday to mark the country’s 61st independence anniversary, was quoted to have said he would help the west-African country fight corruption. ‘‘Your Excellency can be assured that you have a good partner in me as I look forward to any form of collaboration between Nigeria and Ghana in tackling the menace of endemic corruption,” Buhari reportedly told President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana. Reacting to Buhari’s promise, Bruce made reference to Transparency International’s report that corruption is getting worse in Nigeria. In a tweet, Bruce told Buhari that charity begins at home, while urging him to lead by example by fighting corruption, “not opposition”. “Rather than promise to help Ghana fight corruption, show by example that you are fighting corruption, and not opposition in Nigeria,” Bruce said. “If corruption is increasing in your nation, you make yourself a laughing stock if you promise to fight it in another nation. Charity begins at home.” “The major challenge facing President Buhari’s anti-corruption war is that for almost three years, it has been delivering activity instead of delivering results. “They have been making noise instead of making news. They‘ve been practising propaganda instead of setting proper agenda.” SOURCE: https://streetnetngr.com/you-made-yourself-a-laughing-stock-by-promising-to-fight-corruption-in-ghana-ben-bruce-slams-buhari/

Food / Coca-cola To Roll Out First Alcoholic Drink by MercciLee: 4:12pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
Coca-Cola is planning to produce an alcoholic drink for the first time in the company’s 125-year history – with an alcopop-style product in Japan. It is keen to cash in on the country’s growing taste for Chu-Hi – canned sparkling flavoured drinks given a kick with a local spirit called shochu. The product is typically between three percent and eight percent alcohol by volume. A senior Coke executive in Japan said the move was a “modest experiment for a specific slice of our market”. “We haven’t experimented in the low alcohol category before, but it’s an example of how we continue to explore opportunities outside our core areas,” said Jorge Garduno, Coca-Cola’s Japan president. It was unlikely the drink would be sold outside of Japan, he suggested Chu-Hi – an abbreviation for shochu highball – has been marketed as an alternative to beer, proving especially popular with female drinkers. Japan’s big drinks firms including Kirin, Suntory and Asahi all have varieties of the drink, and continue to experiment with flavours. The most popular flavours are strong citrus ones such as grapefruit or lemon, but the drink can also be made with other fruit flavours like grape, apple and peach. As younger consumers become more health conscious, Coca-Cola has been diversifying from fizzy drinks, including buying water and tea brands. But last November, Wells Fargo analyst Bonnie Herzog speculated that Coca-Cola might move into alcohol, as it looked to “premium segments such as adult craft beverages”. The phrase alcopop typically refers to sweet but alcoholic drinks, and in 1990s UK brands such as Hooch, Reef, Smirnoff Ice and Bacardi Breezer became hugely popular. But they were controversial, raising concerns that they encouraged young people to drink alcohol in large quantities because they were so easy to consume. Politics / Governor Obiano Sacks 18 Commissioners by MercciLee: 3:50pm On Mar 07, 2018 |

Jobs/Vacancies / 4 Ways To Dress For Interview In 2018 by MercciLee: 1:43pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
How you present yourself during an interview can have just as much impact on your success as the achievements on your resume, and showing up dressed inappropriately is an easy way to get off on the wrong foot. In today’s more casual and creative business world, a traditional suit and tie or high-heels and a skirt may no longer be the standard interview uniform for every industry. But according to bestselling management author and CNBC contributor Suzy Welch, that doesn’t mean you can take a relaxed approach to your interview wardrobe. “The burden is on you to pick appropriate attire for wherever your job search takes you,” she tells CNBC Make It. “Don’t worry — the workplaces of today may be less strict about attire, but there are still guidelines.” Welch offers these four rules for dressing for interview success: 1. Do your homework Before going on an interview, Welch recommends getting a clear idea of the environment you’ll be walking into, and that includes the attire of its current employees. She suggests asking someone you know about the dress code at the company or doing a Google image search for pictures of what professionals wear at that organization or in that industry. “I know a Stanford grad who sat in the parking lot the day before his interview at a Seattle startup to check out what the employees were wearing,” she says. “He really wanted the job — and he got it.” 2. Don’t worry about being overdressed After you’ve done your research on a company’s dress code, Welch says it’s time to take it up a notch. First impressions are powerful, and your interviewers will likely expect you to be dressed a bit more formally than usual for your first meeting with an employer. Health / You’re Paying Us Too Much! Doctors Protest Salary Increase In Canada by MercciLee: 1:23pm On Mar 07, 2018 |
n Canada, more than 500 doctors and residents, as well as over 150 medical students, have signed a public letter protesting their own pay raises. “We, Quebec doctors who believe in a strong public system, oppose the recent salary increases negotiated by our medical federations,” the letter says. The group say they are offended that they would receive raises when nurses and patients are struggling. “These increases are all the more shocking because our nurses, clerks and other professionals face very difficult working conditions, while our patients live with the lack of access to required services because of the drastic cuts in recent years and the centralization of power in the Ministry of Health,” reads the letter, which was published February 25. Nairaland / General / My Major Regret In Life ―obasanjo Speaks Out by MercciLee: 4:40pm On Mar 05, 2018 |
A former President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Monday, revealed one of the major regrets in his life. The two-time Nigerian leader who is marking his 81st birthday said the early death of his parents and their failure to enjoy the fruits of the sacrifice they made while raising him continues to make him sad. He made the disclosure at a ceremony to mark his birthday at Marque Events Centre located within the premises of Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta. Mr. Obasanjo said he wished his parents lived long to witness his success in life. “One thing I always miss and remember is that my parents left this world too early. The sacrifice they made, they did not wait to see the results. How I wish they had waited to see and eat fruits of their labour,’ Mr. Obasanjo said. The former president, however, said he draws consolation from the Yoruba belief that the dead always look behind to see happenings after them on earth. With that belief, he said he was sure his late parents would still be happy in their graves even now. “But going by what Yoruba believe and say, that the dead always watch over their beloved ones and see happenings around them, I am convinced that my parents are happy in their graves, as they watch over me,” he said. On his birthday, Mr. Obasanjo said he would continue to appreciate, praise adore and worship God, just as he admitted that all those who worked and are still working with him are loyal. He expressed his appreciation to his aides and workers. Mr. Obasanjo said his success would not be without their commitment and loyalty. He advised people to serve humanity, noting that it is when humanity is served that one can serve God. He said he did not believe that God has created a bad situation for Nigeria, or in any particular country in Africa. “We must be able to serve humanity, if we can’t serve humanity, we can’t serve God. I do not believe God had created a bad situation for Nigeria or any particular country in Africa. If things are not going right, we must blame ourselves,” he said. The former president urged Nigerians to take seriously governance and moral values among other things to get things right in the country. Science/Technology / Scientist Predicts When World War 3 Will Begin by MercciLee: 6:55am On Mar 05, 2018 |
It has been 70 years since the last world war, and for decades some believed that we’d entered an era of peace, and such bloodshed wouldn’t be repeated. But is that actually true? Computer scientist Aaron Clauset of the University of Colorado has used statistics to analyse 95 wars in the period 1823 to 2003 – to see if we really are in a unique, new period of peace. Futurism reports that what Clauset found is that we’re not in a unique period of peace – in fact, for the current period to be remarkable, it would need to continue for 100-140 years. Clauset says, ‘These results imply that the current peace may be substantially more fragile than proponents believe, ‘In a purely statistical accounting sense, the long peace has simply balanced the books relative to the great violence.’ Clauset says that the danger of a very large war remains ‘constant’. Clauset also analysed the probability of a war, big enough to end civilisation. While he suggests that this may be ‘unknowable’, he estimates that such a war might happen anywhere between 383 to 11,489 years from now: the median estimate is 1,339 years. Clauset says, ‘The prospect of a civilization-ending conflict in the next 13 centuries is sobering.’ SOURCE: https://streetnetngr.com/scientist-predicts-world-war-3-will-begin/
