I will still write more on my opinion about men and my problem with Alpha males. I will then introduce myself and talk about my job before going into my adventures. For now, I will discuss the types of prostitutes and some terminologies used in this business of mine.

Types of prostitutes

We, the ladies and few men in this business of mine are referred to by several names. Prostitute, olosho, call girl, runs girls and asewo are the commonest names. Some even call us “commercial sex worker”. Who is a commercial sex worker? Definitely not me. I am die-hard science student. Those names I mentioned look like synonyms to an outsider. To we insiders, they are actually different and I will explain them now. There are four major categories of prostitutes. I will arrange the first three in hierarchical order, from the cheapest to the most expensive. Then I will add the last one.


1.Asewo

Asewo refers to any girl that stays in a brothel and sometimes, guest house (lodge) and hotels. Asewos are the lowest category of prostitutes and the reason is not far-fetched. A good majority of them are already spent. They are the ones who have made a career out of prostitution. These ones have been in the job since the time Buhari was head of state and they are still there now that he is president. They would have been retired if they had applied for the civil service at the time they got into the job.

These mamas are chain smokers with dual coloured stretch marks, poorly bleached skins, pot bellies and excessive make up. They drink big stout when they make enough money but go for the regular green bottle on a normal day. Most claim to be widows but I am not sure of that. These old mamas should not be underestimated. They usually have children (many in universities and good secondary schools) who they cater for with asewo money. Some also have businesses (usually hair salons and make up stores) that they manage by the side.

This is not to say that you cannot find pretty, young girls in brothels. The problem with pretty young girls is that most do not stay long enough. They come, LovePeddler and one, two or three months later, they are gone. Few are students schooling in other states and living with their parents in the a neighboring state. Majority are SSCE holders who have learned hairdressing, tailoring and whatever and are in the business to raise capitals to set themselves up.

Many lose their vision at this point. The sudden influx of money they have never seen before startles them. They soon find themselves buying clothes, shoes, creams, phones and other things they do not need. Many also become alcoholics and druggists. The result is that they stay longer than they planned to. Remember that I mentioned that they leave after 1-3 months? They do not necessary leave the business. They just change location to another brothel and continue where they stopped. That continues until they regain their common sense.

2. Olosho

Oloshos are the second category of prostitutes. They are usually found hanging around hotels, lodges and clubs. They are usually inside by day but hang outside by the roadside at night. I know that I mentioned that asewos also stay in hotels and lodges. I will explain the difference between the asewos and oloshos that stay in hotels and lodges after explaining oloshos.

I started off as an olosho. I used to hang around a lodge somewhere in Obalende during those days and frequented nightclubs on the island or around Ikeja and Opebi at night. I never stood by the roadside. I always sat inside the clubs until one dude chats me up. This is where I realized how scummy men could be. Most of the men that chatted me up never chatted me with me as a hoe. They looked very responsible and are usually going the girlfriend route until I hint them that I am into the business. They immediately adjust and start talking price. If you met your current boyfriend or girlfriend in a club, I suggest you start reconsidering.

Oloshos are classier and more expensive than asewos. Older women can still be found among oloshos but they are the minority. They always stand by the roadside and never enter the club. Most are also younger than the mamas in the brothels. Many should be due for retirement in fifteen to five years if they had joined the civil service when the started the work.

The joy of working as an olosho is that you go to work whenever you want to. You do not have a commitment like asewos who need to pay rent, security, police, cleaner and several other dues every week even if they did not work. The downside of working as an olosho is that you will have good and bad days. There are days you get clients and there are days you do not. Some stupid boys have even mastered the art of patrolling the streets very early in the morning around 3 looking for starved oloshos that never got a client. They offer peanuts for the remaining few hours of the morning and the olosho usually accepts.


Difference between a olosho and an asewo that work in hotels and lodges

The difference between asewos and oloshos could quickly become blurred especially when dealing with asewos that work in lodges and small hotels. It is very necessary to differentiate between asewos and oloshos in the case of lodges and hotels because it is directly proportional to their pricing. Olosho costs more than asewo.

If the lodge or hotel is of a small class (usually crowded with unkempt clients smoking like it’s no-man’s business) and the majority of the ladies qualify as women and not girls, the ladies are asewos. If the lodge or hotel is neat, organized and of a higher class, with majority of the ladies being younger and fresher and the clients looking neat and fresh, the lady is a olosho.

It sometimes happens that a lodge or hotel is neither high class nor low class, leading the lady caught up in the middle. Do not fret. Once there is a higher number of older women there, the ladies are asewos. If there is a higher number of younger women, they are oloshos. This rule also applies when dealing with “glorified brothels” where they ladies do not have rooms but have to pay for rooms when they want to service each customer. I call them glorified brothels because only the ladies and their clients use the rooms. A man cannot bring another woman (asewo, olosho, girlfriend or another man’s wife) there because they will not accept. I started from one of these glorified brothels.

My Opinion on Men

One thing I have noticed is that a man’s confidence is directly proportional to his pockets. A broke, handsome guy is usually “humbler” than a rich, ugly guy. A rich, handsome guy is the proudest of the mix and the ugly poor guy is the humblest.
