I usually do not advise mixing old and new batteries especially when the old batteries are more than six months and of different model or manufacturer.

@All, what are the norms for solar panels? Can they be mixed, new and old, different size watts, model and/or manufacturers?

I have few 12/24V BLS and 48V BLS.
Please let me know your system voltage.

I have a battery bank of 96 volts (8 of 12v/200ah VRLA battery connected in series, 12v x 8 = 96v).

BLS-84/86-Multi is recommended for my system. Do you have one?

Judging from the state of my batteries, I am thinking along the line of battery replacement. Sealed or maintenance free, which is the best for performance and durability?

My 12v 200ah Saturn batteries are dying after just one year. Eight of them that initially carry and supply energy for approximately 15hrs hardly last about 4hrs. How can the I revive them, if possible. How can I get a battery life saver?

The Commercial Youth Farmers Cooperative in Abuja. has being officially setup, we meet twice in a month. Monthly membership fee is N5000 which we pay to Bank of Agriculture, we are already seeking for support from the bank. Have a few acres of cassava farm in Kogi.
World Bank has agreed to partner with us. Also another organization has lent us 2 hectares in Kuje which we intend to use for livestocks.
we are inspecting 20 hectares of land this weekend after Goshen along Keffi.
It is so wonderful to see how youths are taking their destiny in their hands, creating wealth and jobs.
You can still join us. Next meeting is Sept 27, 12 noon.

What is your definition of "youth" in this regard?

Does the N5000 monthly membership fee go to lease or ownership of the farmland?

Is the farm collectively/undividedly owned and managed or does a member mind his/her potion?

Is membership still open?

@MiCasa beware of that thing, don't say you were not warned. unless you have money to throw around. I i'm saying this out of experience

What thing are you referring to? If it is about the I-Panda (Zodore) I-P-MSC-96v/30A Charge Controller, could you be more explicit about your experience for the interest knowledge of this forum at large. Information is liberating as it educates the mind and is the engine that moves this forum. To know is to have the power to enhance and advance.

Hi Unionised and DUNKA
We don't discus prices on this thread because of some reasons.
One reason is that this thread is actually a DIY forum and not a market place. We only post our work here to inspire and encourage people in renewable energy. Also we share some of our experiences as part of our humanitarian services to help ppl who want to install solar by themselves to learn.

As for inspiration, you and the selfless GeorgeD1 among others have left miles, rivers and cleared fields of it and have created a bunch of wannabes through your contributions to this forum. Thanks and expect me on what's App.

@c0ogumo:
Wow! Very educational in CC, I am enlightened. "You live, you learn" and have learned how to size CC amp. Thanks. I am interested in getting one of your Arrestors but want to secure the panels and CC first.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by MiCasa: 1:28pm On Oct 23, 2014
@JUO:
The I-Panda MPPT CC that I refer to is the I-P-MSC-96V/30A series pictured below. Sorry that the link I attached previously opens in Chinese. However, try www.wipanda.com, go to Product, then MPPT Charge Controller and click on the 96v 30A.

@George_D
Pls, how can I get couple of Battery Life Saver, like the one you have and a lightning/surge protector. I think the BLS should work on a 96v system like mine.
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by MiCasa: 3:54pm On Oct 22, 2014
Thank you all for the answers to my questions. With your help I will celebrate independence from Phcn and noisy gas guzzling gen.

@c0ogumo:
Considering that the inverter is 96v, what size, type of Mppt Charge Controller do I need to complement my system? [i]Its very rare to find a 96V MPPT charge controller except for chinese CC. You would need 96V 30A MPPT Charge Controller.

Why the 30A MPPT and not higher or lower charging amp. Please enlighten on that. While searching the net, I came across this smart (their claim) MPPT Charge Controller. http://www.wipanda.com/EN/productdetail.aspx?piid=306. I would appreciate it if I could get forum members opinions on it.

@Richmon74:
Thanks for the correction on my 19200wh battery bank. The listed price for Sunmodule 275w at solarlanelstore.com is $297 and not $279, my mistake. That is FOB their warehouse and does not, of course, include shipping to Nigeria. You recommended 14 to 18 x275w but I want to start with half, that is 9 and add-on later. I didn't know that you sell Solarworld panels. If I cannot get the 275w from you for your "world's best price", at what price can I get the 265w?
Satellite TV Technology / Re: Solar Energy, A Complement To FTA by MiCasa: 11:55am On Oct 17, 2014
Mr. Newbie here. I have read so much from this forum that I consider it my solar-reference-library, albeit I learned a lot especially from the likes of George_D, Richmon74 and others, there are some that I am still confused about. Without wanting to clog the progressive wheel of this forum too much, I need help with a little dilemma that is bugging me.

I have had (almost a year now) Su-Kam 5kva/96v pure sine wave inverter with charging current of 10A to a Saturn battery bank of eight (cool 12v200ah connected in series.

While I always wanted hybrid renewable energy with solar array the cost of PV has kept me at bay. Solarpanelstore.com has SolarWorld Sunmodule 275w at $279 (N46,872) plus shipping and that has gotten me seriously thinking to add solar panels to my system.

My concern/confusion are as follows:

1. Are there other sources of lower priced quality solar panels?

2. How many of the 275w panels (if that’s the best I can get) do I need for my 19,200ah battery bank?

3. How many panels do I connect in a string of series or parallel?

4. Considering that the inverter is 96v, what size, type of Mppt Charge Controller do I need to complement my system?

Much appreciated.

Win or loose, SOK has to go. Team Nigeria (I don't know about the Super-E stuff) is running around the pitch like headless chicken, no cohesion, no plan and above all no team or individual exhibition of understanding of the game. WTF is going on We need a fresh crop, a re-introduction to soccer. We can definitely do better than these shameful exhibition of Mikel Obi kind of plays in the current CAF games. Good bye Keshi.
