ChelseaArmy:
Good day Nairalanders. Scammers are calling my sister by trying to scam her. The first day they call her they said to her that they are fcmb customer care. They call her full name they even reveal her BVN number to her. They ask for her date of birth and her ATM card number which she refused to give them.
They are now unto her Facebook account. Each day She received password reset code from Her facebook account. they try to hack the account by all means just to get some vital information that may lead to open her bank account. They call her with the following numbers 07038614148 and 09163391006 pls help us report them to the highest authority. Thank you

First, setup 2Factor authentication on all her social media apps. The next they call, let her be open to them. She should let them know that she knows their game and that their conversation is on record for possible investigation by law enforcement.

Education / Re: Third Class Graduate With No Direction by micomails(m): 11:30am On Sep 30, 2021
Dizzyish:
Please I need advice, any advice.
I graduated with a 3rd class in Chemistry from three years ago (I only blame myself for that) and after I finished my NYSC a year ago I just plunged into a depressive state in regards to my mistake (my education) and my future (career) sometimes breaking down in tears when I think of things I've taken for granted in my life.

I started working on myself a few months ago and I've made some progress I proud of but every now and then it's easy to be overwhelmed with self doubt.
I made a cv without work experience along with a cover letter a few days ago and applied for a few entry level jobs like graduate intern, sales, restaurant supervisor etc via jobberman and the companies email but I'm not too sure I'll be getting any calls from them.
I didn't come here to get sympathy just an honest advice or opinion on what to do.

Can I do a pgd in chemical engineering or just chemistry or pursue a business or computer/tech course, are there jobs I can get with my degree maybe to get skills and work experience?
I deeply appreciate any advice. Thank you.

Bros bros, giving up is not an option and depression is only for those want to give up. F-the world.
Go learn a trade. With little or no cash, you can learn truck driving. Just meet the right people. Get your papers right and move to Europe where truck driving will earn you far better than your first class counterparts in Nigeria.

Do not factor giving up.

Jobs/Vacancies / Re: I Need Your Help: My Employer Is Owing Me And He Doesn't Want To Pay Me. by micomails(m): 4:33pm On May 06, 2021
4teenblaq:
Good day to you all.

Last year, I started working for this man in his bet store..

I worked for four months.. during the 2nd month he paid me my first salary.. after that we went on to the 3rd month, I asked for my second salary, he started giving me excuses on how his shop rent is due and needed to pay it first, that I should wait and give him some time he would pay. I said okay.

Fourth month reached, nothing was happening, at the end of the fourth month. I stopped work, I ask him to pay me the rest salary before I continue..

This man keep posting me till now.

He just handed the shop to his brother to start managing, I met his brother, his brother told me he would pay me.. later I called the brother, the brother was like "I talked to my brother, he said he will be the one to pay you"

I feel he is trying hard not to pay me.

I called the oga, he keep busying my call until he blocked it..
I wanted to use the police but no money for police matter..

The manager has be threatening to arrest me if I try to take anything from the shop..

Please I need you help, how can I have the money back?

Die the idea of taking something from his shop as it will quickly turn the tables against you.

Him refusing to pay is criminal but you have to handle it thr legal way.
I understand you fear that the policw may requiew ligistics from you before coming to your aid, but you can work around this easily. First approach a police station. Let us start from there

Crime / Re: I Was Scammed Of 58k On Instagram by micomails(m): 10:08am On Apr 04, 2021
kriss27:
Please help me people, I was scammed by this _elite_mobile._ page on Instagram, now they have blocked me and changed the name of the page. Only God knows how many people that have fallen victim! They claim to sell mobile phones at affordable price, mostly iPhones that had minor hardware problems. They posted this iPhone 8plus with a cracked screen, that everything else works perfectly at the price of 53k. I showed interest, I asked where their shop is, they said 35 Ademola Adetokunbo Wuse zone 2 Abuja while I am Lagos. They said they do delivery nationwide, and insisted on pay before delivery, the page has almost 6k followers on Instagram. I thought it was a genuine business that their was nothing to fear for. They said delivery fee is 3k through fedex that it will take two days.

They sent this account number to me 2177034352 Ejomo Happy, a Zenith bank account, I did the transfer on Monday evening, they said I should be expecting the delivery after two days excluding Monday. When it was two days, I didn’t receive anything, I inquired about the delivery they blocked me on both WhatsApp and Instagram. Here is their WhatsApp number 09039250111. How can I get my hard earned money back ?please good people of naira land. The sh!t hurts badly! I took this risk cause I needed phone and felt I have gotten a good deal! I even borrowed money to add to the one I have

With 53k plus shipping fees you could have gotten yourself a very good Tecno or Infinix phone which will serve you quite good.

On your loss, try to find out from an insider if the account number they offered you is tied to a POS. If it is, chances are the POS operator never even knew about the deal. He just felt some random dude transfered to him for withdraw.

As for the WhatsApp number, it could also be someone else's number they tricked using phishing techniques. So taking action on it could proove worthless.

You can still block the account using courts with the evidence you tendered above. Pray the court for an order for the bank to release details of the account ranging from bvn, phone, email, photograph, bvn associated accounts etc. Block all the accounts. You cab achieve this with a lawyer.

Always assume that you are dealing with a fraud whenever you are on the web until proven otherwise.

Look for the tiniest red flags and point them out. Once the cheat notices you know his game, he walks.

Never ever let anyone guilt-trip you on the internet, ever!

Shalom bro.
Romance / Re: Who Else Has Noticed These Lazy Whatsapp Scammers? (PICTURES) by micomails(m): 4:20pm On Apr 02, 2021
Xenry:
I don't know if I am the only one seeing this, but it's stupid and useless at the same time.
The new scamming format now is using Facebook or whatsapp to advertise some whatsapp platform or group where they claim to double people's money in less than 45 minutes, like seriously? Who would even believe this?
I even contacted one(just for the fun) and asked him hows it's done, he said that they would invest the money you paid in Bitcoin, which will triple in around 45 minutes, then then would give you double and take the remaining balance. I then called him video call and he started to decline the call, I told him that only scammers don't show their face, and he quickly blocked me.
I contacted another one, and after some chats, I asked him why won't they just double their money instead of looking who to double his money, he told me he wasn't forcing me to I invest in their business, and he then blocked me after I told him that I would report him as a scammer.
What's even annoying me now is that it's all over my facebook timeline now. Some even hacked my facebook friend's account to advertise their useless doubling money business.
Have you guys also noticed this money doubling scammers?

They will never pick the video call because they know how far. The WhatsApp number they are chatting you with is not their own. First they use phishing tactics to gain control of any WhatsApp line then they open shop from there.
There is a high probability that the account number he sent you is not his own. They mostly use POS account numbers for such transactions so when you take action, it will only affect the unsuspecting POS merchant.
Law enforcement do not have what it takes to fight these petty folks. Just remain street smart for now.

Crime / Re: How To Recover Your Money From A Scammer by micomails(m): 2:05pm On Mar 19, 2021
OKOATA:
Good day guys, I transferred 41k to a lady for some goods she sells online and this one just stopped picking or replying text after and it's been 2 weeks now. I have all screenshots and evidences of the transaction and the goods I was to get, she used an Opay as her bank account. I went to Opay main branch at Agidingbi, Lagos and reported that her account be closed and these once were telling me they can't and need to protect their client. I emailed central bank and I was told to get a ticket report from the main bank of the scammer which is Opay but those fools won't do anything. I went to Twitter, even mailed EFCC and nothing to show for it. Can anyone help out here.
Thanks

Get a court order that will force OPay to release her details to you. The details will include her fu names, banking details, address etc. You can now legit track her down. If you are not familia with the process, just get a lawyer.

Online transfers has no geo-location. It's the internet. I can get a court order for you right here in the north and have the bank act on it immediately.

please help, someone stole my Dad's ATM, withdrew cash and did other POS transactions, how do we trace this person

I've never tried this. POS is tied to a merchant account so tracing him will be a bit difficult. However, you could try the option of forcing the bank to release the CCTV footage of ATM withdrawal to you via a court order. But how did the person get to know the ATM PIN? I hope its not family?
Crime / Re: How To Retrieve Your Money After You Have Been Scammed by micomails(m): 9:03am On Jan 12, 2020
I've recovered money from fraudsters for victims on a few occasions. It takes some level of perseverance though. The bank cannot freeze an account merely on your words or documented evidence as this would make people to maliciously block accounts of their percieved enemies.
First, approach a court and pray for three things;
a). a court order asking the bank to release the BVN of the account and all other account numbers associated with the BVN.
b). a court order ordering the freezing of all accounts associated with the BVN.
c). an order transfering the said amount back to your account.
Then if you desire to claim damages, continue with a suit.

At one of the insatnce, the scammer called the victim requesting for her to send her account number so he could refund whatever he took from her for us to vacate the orders . I asked for tripple of what he took as out-of-court settlement. The fowl sha bargained but we maintained our stand.
las las, the idiot paid.
Some of them use account numbers of innocent 3rd partied but I don't care either. Ignorance its not an excuse in the court of law. You don't give a complete stranger your account for transactions.

Crime / Nhis Dishonours Remitta Proof Of Payment by micomails(m): 7:37am On Apr 09, 2019
I paid for addition of dependents for two different NHIS enrollees using the remitta platform and was issued remitta reciepts for their separate payments. On getting to NHIS office Yola, the staff there refused to honour the reciepts, rather they generated another remitta RRR code for the same payment before they could be honoured. The staff at Yola said that there has been a change in policy where by the enrollee can no longer generate an RRR on his own and present proof of payment afterwards. They insisted that the NHIS staff is solely responsible for RRR generation.
This calls for a few questions;
1. What will happen to the money already paid into the government account through remitta?
2. One of the aims of remitta as a payment platform is to automate government revenue payments inline with the cashless policy of the CBN, so why will NHIS insist on generating and issuing RRR so that an enrollee will have to go to the banking hall with cash before payments can be made which negates the principle of cashless policy?
3. Remitta also tries to minimize human intervention in payment process which curbs corrupt practices, so why would the NHIS now have a policy that ensures that payment can only be done after visiting NHIS office?

I will like the NHIS authority to look into this issue and possibly reverse the policy to enable enrollees make payment without having to come to NHIS office.
However, if it happens that the policy cannot be reversed, then the payment window for addition of dependent should be removed from Remitta so that the general public will not fall victim to this same cricumstance.

lalasticlala mynd44 and other mods, please push this to the appropriate section.
Thanks
