Politics / Osinbajo Delivers And Tinubu Is The Next President! by MikoB: 8:48am On Feb 26, 2023
Adamu and lawan went to every campaign ground with tinubu but lost their polling units but Osinbajo that is fondly called judas did not attend any campaign but won his polling unit and state, so who is the hypocrite here?Anyway congratulations to Asiwaju Tinubu, you fought a good fight, I know you might have learnt one or two lessons in your quest to become the president, especially lately, that should prompt you to perform very well without any descrimination, because after four years you will still have to come to the masses for another mandate. Thank you

Politics / Re: Does Obi Stand A Chance? A Simple Unbiased Analysis by MikoB: 6:21pm On Feb 21, 2023
Aboki99:
Peter Obi's supporters are cock-a-hoop about what they see as the highest chance of their hero winning Nigeria's presidency next Saturday.

Are their optimism and excitement factually/statistically justified?

Let's do the arithmetic.

PO's strongholds are the SE and the SS, two zones with the least number of votes!. Granted that PO can scavenge some votes in the SW, but it's crystal clear that Tinubu will carry the day in SW eventually.

In the north, the Obidients rely on pockets of votes from northern xtians. But are these enough? Not at all. Since 1999, the northern xtians have never voted along the same line as the Muslim core North. For example they have never voted for Buhari. Yet, in 2014 and 2019 Buhari was able to win signifying the political insignificance of this voting bloc to a candidate that can garner votes in the core north and other parts (Tinubu?). Similarly, PMB was able to win elections without the votes of the SE and SS in both 2014 and 2019, which also trivializes the importance of these two Obi's main strongholds in determining the ultimate presidential winner.

So, for Obi to win the presidential election, he would, as a matter of necessity, need votes from Muslim voters in the north. But does he look set to get it? The truthful but bitter answer for Obidients to accept is No with a capital N. Problem is, the Obidients want to market Obi in the day as a pan-Nigerian candidate but brandish the news of Obi's endorsement by popular pastors/Churches whose altars Obi has turned to campaign platforms. This, rightly so, confuses the average northern Muslim voter and makes them pause to ask some legitimate questions[ Imagine Buhari going to the mosques to campaigns in 2014 or even 2019, what with the reaction be like from voters in say the SE?)

Not even the votes in Plateau and Benue, two states Obidients have also placed high, convoluted hope on can do anything to offset the bloc northern muslim votes. Here, the Obidients will conveniently bring up the issue of Kwankwaso who, as they argue passionately, will magically divide these votes for them to conquer and win the race. In making this highfalutin assumptions, the Obidients forget two crucial facts: 1) the muslim northern voters are never known, throughout Nigeria's political history, to cultivate the habit of wasting their votes. The average northern voter might not have gone to school but they're the most sophisticated; 2) Despite pulling some intimidating crowds in a couple of states esp in the nroth, the truth is Kano is Kwankwaso's main sphere of influence. Even there, I can't bet a penny that he'll win a simple majority for reasons adumbrated above.

Now, my only concern is what the reaction of the Obidients will be when the bubble of their alternative reality finally bursts. I hope they'll peacefully pick up the pieces, lick their wounds, move on and say "better luck next time".

Personally, I do not see any credible candidate worthy of my votes among the current pack of wolfs, but I know for sure that this 2023 election is a contest between Tinubu and Atiku. Yet, while I know this for a fact, I also have to admit that the outcome of this contest is highly unpredictable. Tinubu has 22 APC governors behind his back, huge war chest, media control and so on. Atiku has the support of some powerful members of PMB's kitchen cabinet, considerable war chest, and some current public angst to latch onto.

If you press me hard to rate the chances of the major contenders, I'll come up with something like these:
1. Tinubu 35%
2. Atiku 34
3. Obi 20%
4. Kwankwaso 9%

May God choose the best candidate for us.

Your analysis is very much on point, keep it up!

Atiku has realised the policy the yeye cabal designed to stop Tinubu has boomeranged, so he is trying to change the narrative to suit his ambition, since the northern apc governors have began to tell voters that Tinubu will not discard the old notes in their possession if elected and is working, Buhari and his people should just forget it, it is too late to stop Tinubu by now, he had the opportunity to stop him during the primary but he failed.

I just dey laffff because Buhari is just damn stupid! it's obvious Tinubu has never been his choice, but why did Buhari allow him to emerge still baffles me, he was so aloofed during the primary and did not support someone like Osinbajo that has been loyal to him from time, is it now that he wants to stop Tinubu? I can bet it that is either Tinubu emerges as the president or the country will likely go down in aches with Atiku, because it's going to be tough for a fulani to replace another Fulani, this film will be long, I swear.....

The hausa fulanis in the villa, only think of their selfish interests, they had the opportunity to back a sound mind like Osinbajo in the primary but instead they opted for either Jonathan or Ahmed lawan and Tinubu ruggedity destroyed them, I will only blame Buhari for not proactive and weak if not why would some parasites be making decisions that are critical for the nation, anyway it is too late already, Tinubu is going to win and he will deal with many of them.

MikoB long time no see, Osibanjo's input won't add much to Tinubu's victory or defeat, the only thing that can save Tinubu is if the north decides to vote him. If the emirs, imams and northerner governors decide to work for him he will win the election but for now the emirs and imams have been telling their people to vote for Atiku even Daura's younger brother who is an imam and the emir of Daura told them to vote Atiku. Yesterday's Osun's tribunal verdict will still affect 'Emilokan General' negatively especially in SW

I am not saying Osinbajo support for Tinubu will bring more votes to Tinubu or not, I said that base on many people insinuation that Osinbajo is not in support of Emilokan that prompted the statement , anyway I have never left Nairaland, I just didn't Contribute much because on my stand that until one or two months before I will be visible again. As for the northerners that are campaigning for Atiku I dont see any difference because Atiku is their brother but the Governors have many things at stake, that is why Emilokan might edge it out, but it will be very close especially when Obi is going to eat deep into pdp chunk of votes from the south.

I think Emilokan General! might win it slightly, if the northern Governors work genuinely for him, if not, Atiku will be the winner. I did not give Emilokan any chance of winning immediately after the primary, but I reconsidered my stand after he choosed Muslim Muslim Ticket, I think that was the masterstroke from him. I am an un repentant Osinbajo supporter but as things are now, even Osinbajo is silently working for Emilokan and before the election everybody will see the support from the VP.

Politics / Muslim Muslim Ticket Is the game changer! by MikoB: 12:29pm On Jan 14, 2023
It is less than two months to Nigeria General election and as promised by my humble self last year, that I will make my own opinion known when it is few months to the election, I guess there is no other better time than now, as some people here already know that I am an unrepentant supporter of Osinbajo, but as it is, the VP is not on the ballot. My final prediction is that Tinubu will win the election, my first prediction was that Atiku will win sometime after the party primaries , but Tinubu changed the game by choosing a Muslim as running mate, that was the the joker brothers and sisters, the core North people see religion before culture and to them this time around, it makes them feel proud that the number 1 and 2 in the country will be from the same religion as them, this surely will make Tinubu eat deeply into the core North West and North East, I am not saying he will win with landslide there, but he will do very well and can even edge it out, he will win South West with landslide and also likely going to win in the North Central and with money and apc structure he will like ly get his 25% in the South South and South east.

Politics / Osinbajo, APC And The Question Of Integrity by MikoB: 2:02pm On Sep 12, 2022
Osinbajo, APC And The Question Of Integrity

Three months after the All Progressives Congress (APC) Special Convention and Presidential Primary, and a few weeks to the start of political campaign for the 2023 presidential elections, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, is still being talked about like he won the contest to become the APC party’s flagbearer.

The reasons are obvious. VP Osinbajo is still Nigeria’s Vice President and number two, and a force to be reckoned with in the APC. His critics and antagonists say this in hushed tone, but the facts in front of them tell them pointedly that the Osinbajo factor is vital in winning the presidential elections for the APC in 2023.

Osinbajo may not have won the APC primary in June 2022, but he won the hearts of more Nigerians across party lines. One was as a result of his deftly delivered speech, which some have described as one of the best – if not the best – speech ever by a presidential aspirant of any political party in Nigeria.

Despite him not eventually winning the slot to become the APC’s flagbearer, many still believe that he was the best presidential aspirant, across party lines. Let’s not forget that there were 21 other aspirants who lost the primary. But Osinbajo still remains the most popular, not just by virtue of his position as VP, but largely also by the sheer force of his personality as the epitome of exemplary public service and leadership. He has become the benchmark that other major politicians aspire to in terms of performance and persona.

No wonder some of Osinbajo’s antagonists and critics are now pushing the narrative that the Vice President was bent on leaving the APC immediately after the primaries. But it seems they have run out of options and lost every argument in their quest to taint the VP and give party faithful reasons to doubt his loyalty. But you simply cannot put a star down. It shines despite the night.

As a matter of fact, because of Osinbajo’s star quality and nationwide acceptability, insiders have said that the VP had received offers to leave the APC and become the presidential candidate on other political platforms. But Osinbajo’s quest to become president was borne out of passion and patriotism, not by greed, personal ambition or selfish aggrandisement. Osinbajo’s decision to run for president was solely borne out of his desire to give the best in service to the fatherland as its number one.

Weeks after the APC presidential primary, there were news reports speculating that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) led by Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, had offered Osinbajo their presidential candidate ticket. The kite of a possible Osinbajo/Kwankwaso ticket for NNPP in 2023 gained some traction even though it was later debunked by some people in Osinbajo’s camp.

Although the Osinbajo camp denied the rumours, it was a pointer to the star power of the starboy of the APC and the President Muhammadu Buhari led government.

Elections seasons in Nigeria is rife with politicians decamping to opposition political parties when it is clear that their ambitions would not be realized in their current home party. For instance, current Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, decamped twice when his presidential ambition went bust. In February 2014, Atiku decamped from PDP to APC; and then in December 2017, he went back to PDP, the platform which he contested for and lost the presidential elections to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. He’s back again to contest under the PDP for 2023 elections.

Also, once considered one of the top contenders for the PDP party’s presidential ticket prior to its convention, current Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi dumped the PDP few weeks before its primary in May this year when it was obvious that he was not going to be picked ahead of Atiku Abubakar or Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike. Recall that Obi was Atiku’s VP candidate when the latter contested for the presidency under the PDP in 2019.

Away from presidential candidates. The likes of Senator Dino Melaye and former minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, among others, who seem to have made decamping to opposing political parties a favourite past time? A whole book can be written about notable politicians who dumped their political parties for the opposition when they lost the chance to further their personal political ambition there.

But that’s not who Osinbajo is. He is an “Omoluabi”. A man of exemplary character, a man of honour and integrity. If the Vice President was not a man of integrity, he would have chosen to become a carpetbagger like many other politicians in this clime are wont to do after they lose their chance with the party to contest an election and pursue their personal political ambition.

Osinbajo remains a loyal party man and a firm believer in the New Nigeria project. He is not driven by personal ambition, but by a desire to serve and give the best in service to the country.

It must also be emphasized that Osinbajo was an integral part of those who wrote the APC party manifesto in 2013 and his personal quest for progressive politics, which the party represents, remains firm.

Not only that, it is stating the obvious that switching political parties simply because of a personal ambition was not a thing for the VP to consider. His desire to always give his best for the good of the country goes beyond becoming a presidential flagbearer of the ruling party.

A few days after the APC presidential primary, the VP, while addressing supporters at his campaign office, stated that he will support the winner and flagbearer of the APC for the 2023 presidential elections, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The Vice President also noted that despite the result of the APC Presidential Primary, “the dream of a new country remains alive. “Our movement for a new Nigeria must remain strong and firm. And we will do everything to keep our movement strong and solid.”

Osinbajo also stated that he will adhere to the political process of his party, the APC. “I want you to know in your hearts that we are democrats when we participate in a contest and the results are announced. No matter what those results may be, we abide by them because there is only one process for democrats, whether that process is good or bad, there is only one, and we have gone through that process.” The VP added that he remains “committed to that dream of a new Nigeria.

Since the APC Primaries in June, the man fondly called The Prof has continued from where he stopped, carrying out his duties passionately and patriotically, as the vice president of Nigeria. It is almost like Osinbajo’s critics and opponents are at sea and totally miffed by how this man continues serving despite losing a major primary and despite all the brickbats thrown at him before and after the APC primaries. I have an answer for them: Integrity and desire for service to God and country.

There is a saying that if you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything. Osinbajo stands for integrity, trustworthiness, dependability, patriotism, honesty, and all the attributes that make great national leaders. These exemplary principles have governed the VP’s personal life and life in public service.

That he did not win the APC presidential primaries is not going to change the embodiment of who he is. Whether in the office of a citizen, pastor, professor or Vice President, Osinbajo remains the same, a man of integrity. No amount of criticism can change that in a lifetime.

In November 2021, during the APC Youth Conference in Abuja, VP Osinbajo gave a rousing speech, where he famously said, “whatever the situation, we move!”

Despite all the jabs from his antagonists, VP Osinbajo is moving, onto greater height, continuing his dedicated service as Nigeria’s vice president. He may not have won the APC Presidential Primary, but he has since become a symbol of a national movement, for a Nigeria that we all truly desire and yearn for.

We move!

That is why I said, it depends on how the judge interpret it, dont forget that the election has already commenced before Tambuwal mounted the podium the second time.

Actually it is against the convention rules that a contestant should mount the podium twice after his or her opening remark, this was exactly what Tambuwal did,he made his opening remark and he also came back again to ask his delegates to vote Atiku,to make matter worst he mounted the podium the second time when election has officially commenced, but where technicalities will come in is that, how would wike differentiate the number of delegates that voted Atiku that were meant to vote Tambuwal in the first place? The best that can happen with this case is for the Judge to annul the convention in totality, since the actors did not follow the lay down rules.

The problem with the ambition of Obi is not even Tinubu, Obi's problem is the core northerners, those guys are rigid and not civilised, they consider religion before any other thing and they also have the huge block vote to deliver,I am sure they are going to share their votes between Tinubu and Atiku. Any candidate that can win four of these states Kano, katsina, kaduna, Borno, Bauchi and Yobe will likely win the presidency as long as he can perform averagely well in other regions, so for the people shouting Obi, the question is, which of these states can Obi win?

Buhari really dissapointed the masses that had hope on him in 2015,he has succeeded in destroying the present nigeria and also he is about to destroy the future of Nigeria, by staying aloof to the political happenings around him, it would have been a 100% failure for his regime if not for Osinbajo, Fashola and Amaechi, and those ones performed in their respective duties not because of Buhari supervision but just because they are brilliant people that even in the mixte of mediocrity there natural brilliance will still show. Buhari went to aso rock to take care of his health and himself he does not even care about his wife and children talkless of other citizens, he only cares about himself, its quite unfortunate and this his aloof attitude has really destroyed the nation now.
