Alright.. Thanks a lot for the information.
God bless you sir.

A ship officer is not sponsored by any state, it is difficult to nominate ship officer occupation. For Barrister or Solicitor, you will have to be called to the bar in Australia before you can be given a positive assessment for migration purpose. If you want to nominate the legal profession, you will assess with Law Society of any of the States. You will be given the courses you need to do to meet up with Australian law and legal system. When you complete the course, you will be called to the bar in that state and can now apply for PR.

Thank you so much for your reply sir.

He's a third officer on a merchant navy vessel. He's been working for over 5years and I've been working for 3years plus. I had a long study and research on the issue. I found out I could be the PA if I register as a foreign lawyer and pay the prescribed fees before applying for the PR. I would like to go for a PhD once I get the PR, I don't know if this is possible but if it is, I would be glad.
What do you think about this sir?

What is your husband's qualification?

Ship officer is not on the list and ship master is only sponsored by Northern Territory on 489 visa. NT application is a slow and long one.

What does he do on the cargo vessel? What qualification is he working with on the cargo vessel?

Cheers.

Hello house, please I have a question. I went through the skilled list on sub class 189. I'm a barrister so my occupation is there, although I don't have a solid work experience.
My hubby is to be the PA. He's a ship officer on a cargo vessel but what we saw on the sub class list is ship master.
Are we still eligible? How do we go about this please?
Thanks for your response.

Yes. Thank you so much. I saw it and I also saw that of my husband; meaning we're eligible to apply..

Thanks again..

I think Barristers are listed on the occupation list for Sub class 189 visas.

We are in the same shoes right now. I'm a lawyer too. I hope to do my PhD when I settle in. But I checked the skills list, nothing related to what we do. My hubby is the one applying anyway but I also want to know if maritime will get him good points. He works on a vessel as a ship's officer.

Good evening, good people. For a lawyer considering the Aussie PR route, which skill assessment body is best for me? Thanks.

Hello people, please this is my first post. Kindly treat my ignorance with love.
My hubby and I want to apply for PR in Aussie. He's currently working on a cargo vessel as an officer. I'm a lawyer. I'm also on my masters programme. We have 2 kids.

My questions:
1. Are we eligible?
2. If yes, how do we go about this?
3. Considering the size of the family, how much is expected to cover the cost of it all?
4.How much do we need to show?

Thanks guys!
