Most of these things are not true and the true ones mostly applies to the western world.

Rather, go read "48 laws of power" if you haven't yet.

I don't expect much from them.

I'm sure I'm not the only person with that view. My own is that our own star boy - Osimhen - must not be disgraced.

Bro i also have the same view with you so you are not the only person.

People should just expect less from them to avoid disappointment but still praise them if they do well.

Remember to expect less.

Nairaland / General / Re: 2024 Is The Year Of Nairaland's Resurgence by MindOnMatters00(m): 6:18am On Jan 02
mrjojo:
Nairaland is a 2 billion naira worth at the minimum of venture if seun decides to take it seriously

Seun still runs this as a side project from his "cubicle" in sango-ota .

Knowing Seun to be an introvert who doesn't like the spot light or want to be popular just as myself, if I were him

I will

Run Nairaland as a business' by

1. Opening a physical office space in Lagos, Abuja, Sango-ota as HQ

2. Employ a CEO to run it while I continue to serve as founder and CTO

3. Employ a full team of enginneers, UX front end designers, marketers

Phase 1
Manage

1. Front page should be very current with update as it happens, ( I see a news/even on instablog and see it days after on the frontpage), alot of people only visit the front page, so it must be regularly updated and of high quality

2. limit posting to some section for new accounts, like have some way you rank accounts, new account should have a 3 month sandbox restriction.

3. make it impossible to register multiple account from thesame device,

4. Use text verification and real email ( no temp mails) for registration

5. Moderation : Each section should have atleast 2 mod and very active section 3 with 1 supermod.

6. Tribalism and hate speech should attract ban, device ban, email ban ,phone number banif possible an IP ban after two warnings

Phase 2

Build

Implement new feature,

One of the allure of Nairaland is it simplistic UI and fast loading time

That doesn't need to change but it can be better,

1. Add Night mode, this will switch the background to black which is easy on the eyes at night, users can toggle on off

2. Add a bit of self moderation by adding a dislike button (when a comment has so many disikes, a moderator manually access if it should be hidden, users can still view the comment if clicked

3. An email system should be designed, communication stays on nairaland instead of third part email (all nairaland user get a user@nairaland.com email after 6 months of active usage provided the haven't been banned more than thrice,.

4. Build a robust ad management system, from creation, funding , moderation,

5.make it easy to share, the share button can be linked to whatsapp, fb, tiktok, IG, so when someone click on share they can also share outside the platform
a short url like naira.land(a business savvy person will buy this domain and sell it to Seun when he wakes up for 10m)will also make sharing easy

6. native ios/app with great push feature

7. Add some other Africa countries section based on data and traffic from those countries

maybe more later if I think of more but these will increase traffic(currently <30million Monthly according to similarweb ) by atleast 30% within 9.5 month

How can i contact you? I will need ideas similar to this on a big project of mine

Leaving the charts for sometime, and resuming later on is ideal. It's never too late. Will be glad to have you on board.

I didn't completely leave though and sorry i made a mistake earlier, i would be going to 5 years in the markets including crypto and a little idea of stocks.

I still got some ideas in me plus my strategy still in the brain but i will need to remodel it and then do lots of training and backtesting but i have been studying too so i didn't actually completely leave the markets but only paused trading.

1. Great success needs PATIENCE.

First and foremost, we all expect to make a million dollars per month through trading.

The earlier you realize the years of study it takes to become profitable, the better you can approach it, and set realistic expectations.

I have been in the financial market for close to 4 years but paused for some months now.

I hope to resume January next year and i believe its not too late to pick up again.

As long as the CBN wants to keep the interest rates below the inflation rate, the Naira will continue to lose its value. That is the blunt truth.

My worry is that government can reverse this policy overnight and greatly increase interest rates which will mop up excess money in circulation and the Naira will strongly appreciate in value.

I remember at a time, in 2017, the black market rate was around 520 to a dollar or so. That one was a product of the devaluation of the Naira to 310 from 199 or so. It also coincided with the introduction of another official forex window with exchange rates that were market reflective.

Within a short period, it started appreciating until it got to 365 or thereabout and stayed there until 2020.

So, lookout for when the CBN increases interest rates. Even if there is a massive inflow of forex which strengthens the Naira but the CBN does not increase interest rates, then know the exchange rate will collapse again.

Bro there are many secrets to why the naira will keep falling and this is not one of them.

The above you just explained is just a surface issue for Nigerians to see.

The more you look and the less you see.
