I was misguided and so even before my F I-20 got to me, I made a request from the school to send me my sevis number and school code throughh the advice of someone. So after the payments, I applied for visa and the interview dates showed 4th January 2024 whereas my start date is August 15, the same person asked me to apply for emergency visa without telling me that I would need to upload my sevis receipt and i20 which by the way I haven't gotten them. So I filled the emergency request page and uploaded only my admission letter, till date no response. Right now I'm confused because I just learnt that it's the f i20 that I was supposed to attach. Pls what do I do now

I THINK you should "Get your i20 from school, together with SEVIS confirmation & visa appointment. Try emailing or calling the embassy and see how it goes."

Otherwise, repost your situation and wait for advice from the elders in the house.

Good day guys, my I-20 just arrived two days ago and with the news that there isn't interview date this year anymore... what can I do?
which news? Bro, just keep searching for dates, pick any available one and request from emergency appointment if you fall within 60days to resumption.

Good fellow Nairalander
Please I need your help I am currently studying in Germany doing my second bachelor but I want to quit and start a master degree in USA cuz of the language and even after my studying I determine to move to English speaking country but I think I should move now cuz I can’t see myself starting again in USA after getting German PR.

In short can anyone list some cheap school which I can apply to in USA….

Thanks

I really think Germany is a good location. You could get your Bachelors & Masters there and move to USA for PhD. But if you like the USA better & would like to move now, still fine.

What I don't understand is why you think anyone will list cheap schools for you to apply to...you didn't even post any course to start with!

There's more than 200 pages of this current thread. Go through it, you'll see a lot of schools. Use google to start your search.

Finally, ask specific questions if you have to but don't expect to be spoon fed.

Best wishes.

Good day, I was denied Student Visa today and am still wondering what I did wrong.

First she asked me why the school, what I have been doing since I finished school, my age and if am married next thing she just stopped when I told her my Sponsor is our family friend and explained our family ties but she gave me the blue paper.
Its quite obvious that the sponsor is the reason for the denial. Family friend is really a long shot. Feel free to drop a better transcript with your full profile for others to advice.

I really don't understand how someone will come here, gain so much info, reach out to people here and those schooling in different US schools for guidance and assistance, get massive help only to get admission/visa approval, and start hiding their courses, schools and whatever!
Cos if you can share your profile before applying & gaining admission, why can't you post your profile afterwards to inspire and give hope to others?

E no just make sense!!!

FYI: USA is accepting a whole lot of people now, so whether you share or not, you'll see a fellow Nigerian in that your school & department o!

Tilll we all win!!

Omotomi05:
Good afternoon house

Please I want to ask, when mailing schools for assistantship and funding, does it have a format to follow and if yes please what are the necessary things to include in the mail.
Also, is it advisable to use the same SOP for 3 different schools but the same course?

Please your input will be well appreciated.

let me try to answer you:
1. I believe most schools offer assistantships to the BEST pool of applicants who sent in EARLY applications. Regardless, you can always email them requesting info regarding funding &scholarships. They may even issue an assistantship form for you to fill. All in all, just send in a STRONG EARLY Application.

2. Yes you can use same SOP for multiple applications as long as it's same course and level of study. But be sure to edit some critical parts like name of school, research areas and Professors for every new application. Asides that, you're good.

I hope this helps.

This is tricky, if you haven't received asst'ship yet and they have already requested for POF, it maybe that they aren't considering you for assistanship despite admission. For example, when I was emailed to show proof of fund, I emailed back that I already had scholarship and then got a reply that it has not been approved by graduate school and hence cannot be used for POF. Took me about a week to email my department, graduate school and international office to clear things out. My i20 bears my GA/tuiton waiver. I think if you're positive about receiving it then don't rush to send BS, cos that is what your i20 will bear but if you can well afford it while hoping to get asstship in future, go for it.

Good day guys.

Please i'd like to know if uploading of financial documents can ruin ones chances of getting assistantship.

First, No standardized test. You are going for an IT Msc degree with no standardized test. The VOs have seen lots of candidates and know what they are looking out for in students o. Don't go saying standardized test was not a requirement for Msc in IT

Your "why cwu" is too shallow and really lack specifics. You can do better on this

"What will this course do for you?" "A lot. IT will improve me technically, analytically and advance my computational prowess, making me more valuable in increasing demand of professionals with not just vocational but also technological skills in Nigeria. I'll be better equipped to work with high profile and multinational companies like eunisell, indorama etc while making plans to setup a technologically driven enterprise in the long run.
Brother, you need to tell the VO how this course will do all this for you. You need to talk with specifics. All this "improve you technically, analytically and advance your computational prowess, making you more valuable in increasing demand of professionals with not just vocational but also technological skills" would not cut it o. Talk with specific examples

Then you applied to only one school. People have gotten visa with only one school admission, but please don't go telling the VO that you were lucky to get a conditional admission. It would destroy your whole profile.

Finally, why are you switching from polymer engineering to IT. You should be prepared for that "hell" of a question

Lemme stop here as your interview is tomorrow to avoid killing your confidence but you really can do better than this

All this is just from my point of view o, I no be VO
and i don't have a say on the outcome of your interview.

I wish you Goodluck and get your visa
Wow... Thanks a lot... I appreciate.

I can't think of a more selfless platform than nairaland. I had to speed read a good number of threads before I could truly understand the energy y'all putting up here...
To the GURUs and other contributors, God bless y'all immensely.
I have learnt a lot and truly understood the power of TOEFL, GRE, GMAT and high CGPA (I had a 4.03/five though) in regards to funding/scholarships/GAs.

Since June, I've actually been on a lone wolf shit, doing the whole process myself and with help from a friend there, plus I wrote/called the school wella. Discovering nairaland wowed me.
Well, I'm currently going for masters in information technology @ Concordia university Wisconsin (no TOEFL or GRE required). With a B. Eng. Degree.
My Interview is loading come 01/18...
Although I now know a lot of things I could have done better(OPTION WISE), I'd still hope for the best at current interview and leave the rest to God.

So far I have seen the need to work on :
Why CUW
why MS IT
what will the course do for you
What's the rship to your first degree
And what I'll do when I return.

As I write... I'm seriously tensed while trying to figure out better answers to them.
I'll try to churn out a likely transcript for your individual perusal ASAP.
Bless.
