Family / Re: So I Am Getting A Divorce... How Do I Adjust? by mkakin(m): 9:37am On Jan 08, 2022 |
Dear OP, Life would not be exactly the same again... but trust me - life can be better after divorce. You need to make up your mind you are going to be a better woman and mother after the divorce. That's the first thing - your mind! So, you need to be intentional. Secondly, check your finances. How well were you doing with your finances during marriage? Do you make your own money? You must find a way to make your own money - and to increase it. Thirdly, do not be unreasonably hard during the divorce proceedings. Prepare your mind to take the benefits you can take and just leave the rest. How? There is something called 'Maintenance' in divorce. There is another concept called Custody. Do not out of anger refuse any offer that would help you. The issue of maintenance is dependent on who has custody of the children. Did your husband ask the court for custody? If yes, it is not likely the court would grant custody of three children under 10 years to a man, except the man proves to the court that you are not 'responsible enough' So, we can safely assume you will be granted custody of the children. Get as much money as possible for the maintenance of the children from the man. And dont let it be lumpsum.Let it be monthly, quarterly or yearly. As your husband become richer, it can be increased Make sure the man undertakes to be responsible for the 'education of the children of the marriage'. Once you do this, a heavy load is lifted from your shoulders. I repeat, don't walk away from offers/benefits - out of anger or bitterness Also, don't try to keep the children away from their father. It would make the whole thing easier for you. If he wants to see them, allow him. It would make it easier for him to release money for their welfare. On what people would say - don't give a damn! You would be better for it. Take care of yourself and your children. If you need to relocate, don't be ashamed to beg him to help you with the rent. I repeat, prepare to take care of your children and yourself. People will see it. And it would shut their mouths. And don't forget to leave your heart open. Love may still come your way. Peace! 3 Likes |

Scam Alert!!! He's a fraud. He doesn't know anything about tracking. He just gives same phone numbers, ( as the thief's number) and different locations to everybody that contacts him. Real name: Victor Gabriel Alachi . He uses Access bank. P.S. I read his denial now, and I smiled. He was on the road when he did the video call. He doesn't know anything about tracking. He is a fraud. 5 Likes 1 Share

Politics / Re: Malami Lacks Unilateral Power To Amend Lawyers’ Professional Conduct – Akpata by mkakin(m): 6:43am On Sep 14, 2020 |
The 2007 amendment followed due process as same was duly approved by the General Council of the Bar. This is not the case with this 2020 purported amendment. 1 Like |

NNBA working faster than we ever imagined It was Professor C.K Allen in 'Aspects of Justice' that posited thus Mad men have occupied thrones and have done mad things but it is a familiar lesson of history that a law which is itself ungovernable can no longer endure. For the law however wicked or unkind shall be cast into the furnace That unilateral amendment would surely be cast into the furnace of history. |
Career / Re: Is The Legal Profession As Lucrative As It Used To Be? by mkakin(m): 1:04pm On Jul 18, 2020 |
The legal profession is still very lucrative. What has happened is that most fresh law graduates/lawyers (and graduates generally) leave school without preparing for the outside world. Many of them didn't know that the outside world is not about books and grades alone. Simply put: Schools no longer prepare/equip students for the reality of life. Students too, most times, do not bother to equip themselves. So if you leave school with your knowledge of books alone. You have yourself to blame! Legal practice is very wide. And I repeat, very wide! But the eyes of the average fresh lawyer is opened mainly to litigation/corporate practice. This should not be! You can practice law in a wide number of ways. But first, you must have passion for it. Many people now study law without that passion. The passion they have is only for the expected money/salary. Find a way to merge your passion with your degree. Law permeates every facet of life. So, if you love music, creative arts, etc, find a way to study law as it affects those areas. Gbam! You will enjoy it. And you will earn a living. As a fresh lawyer, do not focus so much on salary. You can be your own boss as soon as possible....and make your own money. But first, you must make sure you know what you are doing. That woman on your street who needs a small help with a letter to her landlord is your starting point!!! Treat her well. Be professional with her. She will recommend you to someone with higher economic value than herself. It will surprise you. That your friend who wants to start an electronic sales outlet, keep in touch with him! You don't go about complaining everywhere you are!!!. A lawyer is a problem solver. For as long as there are problems in this world, there are jobs for lawyers - whether young or old. You earn money by solving problems and adding value to people's lives. I can tell you, PERSPECTIVE is important. There are opportunities to add value to lives, opportunities to solve problems. That's what should be your focus. That's where your real fee will come. Not your salary. Mind you, if you are not well grounded, take the pain for a period of time, learn, learn well, learn fast. Studying law is one of the best decisions I have made in life Open your eyes well. There is money in legal practice! 24 Likes 2 Shares |

Did you notice this: Vii. during the period of Biafra troops presence in your territory, all political measures, statements or decrees shall be subject to the approval in writting, by myself or on my authority. (Viii) Should our troops arrive and liberate Lagos, the Government of the Republic of Biafra reserves the right to appoint an administrator for that territory. Such an Administrator will remain in office until a merger of that territory with Yorubaland is effected and Biafran troops withdrawn. That was a Greek gift. Another subjugation in-waiting! 3 Likes 1 Share |
Politics / Re: Malami: "I Deliberately Referred To Abacha Loot As "Abacha's Assets" by mkakin(m): 1:02am On May 07, 2020 |
This is inconsistent. The phrase should then be either 'Abacha loot' or "FGN Asset" It cannot be 'Abacha Asset' because it no longer belongs to Abacha, and the seal of legitimacy has the imprint of NIGERIA on it, not ABACHA. 2 Likes |
Politics / Enahoro's Presidential Pardon- BUHARI'S ERROR (1966 Instrument Of Pardon In Pi) by mkakin(m): 11:23am On Apr 12, 2020 |
Pa Anthony Enahoro was already pardoned as far back as 12th August 1966 by Gowon administration. What type of Presidential Pardon has our current president granted again? It is now clear that the people surrounding the current president are not the best set of people to rule this country. A blind man must not be allowed to lead a set of blind men. Something that was of common knowledge, and still they allowed the President to go ahead and make this huge error Or has the Buhari government found Pa Enahoro guilty of another offence after his death? May God save Nigeria.

Politics / Re: FG To Pardon Orji Kalu, Dariye, Nyame. Ignores El-Zakzaky - Sahara Reporters by mkakin(m): 11:21am On Apr 11, 2020 |
It says 'serving at least three years'.... This brings Kalu in. He is serving more than three years. That 'at least' is fundamental. And He will be 60 years in a couple of days. El-zakzaky does not qualify for pardon. Pardon is meant for convicted persons. He has not been convicted. The government can only withdraw the charges against him. And he would be free. iammo: |

They should not plead guilty. Let it be a full blown trial. Then, the deficiencies and the loopholes will become apparent. It is not a straight forward case. .I hope they have competent attorneys. |

Politics / On Funke Akindele's Conviction by mkakin(m): 5:11pm On Apr 07, 2020 |
On Funke Akindele's Conviction - The conviction and sentence ought to be appealed against - Mr Gbadamosi should be careful Just a few points: The recent media-hyped arraignment, conviction and sentence of Funke Akindele and her husband ought to be revisited on appeal. I hope they both have plan to appeal, at least for the sake of having the records cleared. Else, they would forever be regarded as EX-CONVICTS And consequently, there are some endorsements and roles that would never come her way again. Starting from the charge sheet, several issues are apparent. The validity of the 2020 regulation should be questioned. Section 53 of the Public Health Law should be examined The doctrine of covering the field will still come in It is also clear that the sentence against the her and her husband is excessive. The relevant punishment section for that charge is Section 58 of the Public Health Law. Section 58 of the Public Health Law provides as follows: “For any contravention of the provisions of this Law or any Regulation made under this Law for which no other penalty is provided, the offender commits an offence and is liable on conviction to a fine of One Hundred Thousand Naira (N100,000.00) or to any non-custodial sentence and if a corporate body, to a fine of Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N500,000.00).” The law provides for N100,000 fine or non-custodial sentence, not both!! They were however given both fine and non-custodial sentence. This is contrary to the provision of the law. It was just a media trial. And they were the pawns in a bigger game of chess. For Mr Gbadamosi, the new bride of Lagos PDP, be careful. 2023 is in issue. They are coming for you!! |

It's a pity. I have been in that situation before... as the person to distribute, you just stay aside jejely. During the distribution of UN relief materials for Camerounian refugees in Cross River State. Even, the presence of policemen did not deter them. Hunger has a greater driving force. |
Celebrities / Re: Funke Akindele, Husband Found Guilty, To Serve 14 Days Community Service by mkakin(m): 12:14pm On Apr 07, 2020 |
The conviction cannot stand on appeal. I just hope that Funke Akindele and her husband appeal that decision. If they refuse or neglect to appeal it, they would forever be EX-CONVICTS, and there are endorsements Funke Akindele would never get again in her career. It is a totally flawed proceeding. The lawyer involved did not try at all. |
