Wait! I though MAGA means

Make America Great Again. I still don’t get how this is a racist post! And both black and white supports trump. And they all wear the hat with MAGA written on it. So? Still don’t get it.

AfonjaBoston:

This is a racist dog-whistle. She/he may lack empathy but profiling her based off some hat as a hateful person is all shades wrong.

No humor here.

I come in peace✌️✌️

This thread was the “bam” a couple of years ago. Mothers who needs information, advise, encouragement, support, guidance come here for that. But what do we have now?: hatred, bitterness, judgement, bullying, negative words, lack of empathy etc.

People are scared to ask questions for fear of people’s response. People hide under keypad to bully people. As for me, all those claiming American citizens to bully people here are cowards!!! Show your citizenship letter and then we can talk. When you see the way they type their English, their choice of words, their spellings, you will know that they are those That came from other countries that got stuck in the US after their visiting visa expired and they did arranged marriage. If this is not correct, post your evidence here make we see. If not, please keep your evil comments to yourselves! Nobody asked you.

The world is in disarray and America is doing a terrible job right now. It’s so sad that a once great country is now tearing itself down. America is now seen as a laughing stock by the other world leaders! So sad!. Maybe instead of attacking people here, take a day or 2 to fast and pray for “your country” to be great again.

Everywhere is tough. Living in this world itself is tough! People ask questions without providing background info. That does not mean people have to assume or conclude! Besides, your “talk” does not count. Even if they collect her children, are they your children?

SmartKitty:

Hmmm, teenagers, students, young adults ... then why the tourist mother is asking about accommodation? Pay and accommodate your kids. Why do you think they are entitled to American government help? It's their mother, poor, disabled and an American citizen who can't support her children? If kids are minors, they can be taken by Social Services if the mother / parents are not making the effort to provide them. Do you think just because you came to give a birth here, you will get a free life for yourself as a mother?
Some people just don't want to hear the truth. America is tough, it's not what you see in the movies.

Why dont you ask more questions before spewing out ****. Children could be teenagers Or young adults who got admission into the university. Does social services take them too‍♀️‍♀️ Biko chill!!!!

SmartKitty:

Do it and your children will go to the shelter without you if you tell you can't support them. You, as a foreigner, will be deported back to your country fast and lose your children forever. No accommodation or any help for foreigners. If you insist, you get the accommodation in Immigration jail and you will be send back to your country, your own country should provide any help for you. Nowadays even the legal residents are afraid to apply for any government help because later they are denied the citizenship.

BTW, if you as a tourist overstay your visa and intend to live in US, be sure to have enough money to provide your children good life and to send them to school. If the authorities or neighbors see not suitable living conditions, your children will be taken by Social Services, you can't claim them back because you are NOT a legal resident, you say 1 word, jail and deportation, now with new rules it's fast, deportation express.

Hello everyone.my two year old has a cyst growth on her neck, and the hospital said it must be removed by surgery. Now the thing is I don’t to risk operating on my daughter in Nigeria. She was born in the US.but my visa was refused cos of the 14k discount WEST HOUSTON HOSPITAL gave me. I called severally then to refund but they declined. And I was told by the visa officer to pay back the discount before reapplying. Now I want to apply again. But I’m a bit confused on what to do? Since I couldn’t pay back the discount what are the possibilities of getting the visa?

Sis, your baby’s life is very important ooo. Only a living baby uses a US passport. I don’t know where you live in Nigeria but look for a good doctor to check it for you. Scans and xrays can be done to check how serious it is. Don’t even hold your breath on American visa and pls keep your 14k dollars. There are no guarantees that they will renew even after paying. Do your own research and get doctors to recommend hospitals in UK, Dubai or Canada for you. Get in touch with them and make sure your daughter get the best healthcare. With all the noise about the developed countries’ healthcare and doctors, coronavirus is flogging them ooo. US alone has abt 100k death last time I checked. They will not even see your daughter as a priority now. God will heal your daughter in Jesus name. But delay can be dangerous.

Better. Because US international borders are closed (some special few exceptions, mostly for citizens).

Obviously from the way you sound, you “just got to America”. That’s why you keep talking the way you are. Like you have been told, many people on this forum are either in America, UK or even Canada. We all listen to the news.

Don’t peddle fake news here

Well, that is the quote I got too. I went to missionary journey with B1/B2 so I might not be able to tell you a yes or no. But just ensure that you have more than the 15k dollars of CS as proof of funds. All the VO wants to see is that you have enough money to take care of both yourself and the bill. Because giving birth in the US is expensive. 10k dollars is 3.6million naira already. That can build a house or start a business.

It is true that cost can easily escalate when it comes to child birth. I am a witness to that.

Although I used Wyckoff initially but I ended up at Long Island Jewish Medical Center (LIJ), Katz women. They are more expensive than Wyckoff. I paid 21k dollars for CS.

FabioPeter:

Thanks a lot, it helped. I got a cost estimate of 9,500 for VD and 15,000 for CS(non negotiable and no discount) Cost covers doctor, epidural, Pediatrician and 2 days hospital stay. They insist I make an appointment over the phone to get a confirmation letter.

I made the call and got a physician assigned, forwarded my details but I am yet to get a confirmation letter, guess it may take a few days.

Will 9,500 be ok with VO?

Doing all these on behalf of DW, right now I am really feeling the phrase “we are pregnant” cheesy

Thanks a lot.

Making donations The truth is if you donate even 50k dollars. If they will not give someone, they will not.

Their system has been gamed for a long time. They are hurting and they are lashing out. We have a target on our back - Nigeria.

My advise, keep your money. I don’t know about others, but making money in Nigeria is not easy. I can’t come and spend it on something that is not sure. That will be double jeopardy. Because if after lying back or donating, they deny you, it can lead to deppression oooo. if you must travel, get elsewhere. Do your research- there are many opportunities out there.

My 5 naira.

Bluefin:

I think something you can do is to make a donation to the hospital for the equivalent of the amount you were discounted. Most US hospitals have a link on the website for donations. After you do the donation they will send you a donation statement. Perhaps you can try to use this to remedy the situation. You can then explain at the embassy that at the time you were given the discounts you did not know that it would be an issue but o remedy the situation you have made a donation and show them the evidence

Guy,

Take a chill pill.

TWoods:

There is a reason a public charge question is clearly listed on the i-485, to prevent situations like this. You can rail all you want. We pay taxes to help the poor, the disabled and those unable to work. We do not pay taxes so calculating immigrants can try to scam the system... if he has insurance and and job, he is not here on a humanitarian visa, simply trying to avoid out of pocket costs by offloading that on the unsuspecting public. If every immigrant treated the public till with such disdain, it would have ceased to exist. There is a reason we all emigrated from Nigeria... I’d like to not end up in Nigeria a second time.

Hello all,

Please for those that have landed in Alberta and returned back after a few weeks (soft landing). Were you able to apply for health card, what are the requirements?

Do I have to have an invoice or bank statement that has an Alberta address?

Can I mail my completed application from Nigeria to the health office after leaving?

I read somewhere that you must apply for health card within 3 months

But call the airline to be on the safe side.

Okay here we go!

IELTS - 1st Feb 2018 (L8.5 R9 W6.5 S7), ordered for a remark and it came out as L8.5 R9 W7 S7.5 - I used the Cambridge books shared on this forum. Wifey did not write

ECA - 25th July 2018 (I missed ITA on this day cos ECA came out around 2:30pm). Wifey's ECA was very fast though.

ITA - 8th August 2018

AOR. - 25th September 2018

Biometric Request - 24th October, Completed 29th October

Medical Passes - 2nd Nov. 2018

PPR - 5:58am 15th January 2019

Story in Full

I was never a fan of leaving Nigeria until October 2014, when I just relocated to Abuja. I was in one of my paddy's house and heard him discussing with his aunt about FSWP. I picked interest suddenly and then joined him nah so we start. We were mis-informed then that we would have to get a Canadian Immigration lawyer to be able to scale through. So we employed Abrams & krochak and started paying those guys oh. We spent about 1.3m individually and nothing came out of it. Our ECA came out after about 6 months with ICAS Canada. When Abrams started asking for money payment, I just jejely told my fried that I quit, cos for about a year, we were busy completing one single form oh, we will fill it and he will send it back that we have to re-fill. This went on for like 4 times so I got tired and decided to let it go.

Fast forwarded to 2016, I started thinking about leaving this country again and was introduced to the US study VISA thread. I started following the thread, and by April 2016, I had registered to write GRE for PhD study in the US. The result came out but was not enough to get me an admission with funding, a total of 297 (V:150, Q147 & AW: 4.0). At this time I was advised from the forum to write TOEFL (another test of English I had been running away from) as that would boost my chances of getting funding. I wrote and scored 97, but then, it got me admission in 2 schools but no funding. I quit again as I had no means of raising fund to study for PhD degree.

But in January 2017, My new year resolution was to ensure I do everything humanly possible to relocate from this Naija. then I started following this thread but only during my most free periods, so I was not really concentrating. It then made the whole process look too tough for me to complete, though I was not scared of IELTS any longer since I had written TOEFL already. But I could not start.

Then the next month I stumbled on the Canadian Study VISA thread as I was already stylishly eyeing Canadian Schools. I applied to UAlberta, UofT, and two other schools, In short, I got MBA admission into Rotman's Business School but yet no funding.

Then by October 2017, I told wifey I was not interested anymore and came back to this thread oh, she tried convincing me to stick to one plan as it wasn't good the way I have been jumping from one to another without seeing it through. By that time some of the people I was reading their post had gotten COPR and I was still yet to start. I then started with ECA, and the rest was history

ITA
I missed the draw of July 25th Because my ECA report came in that same morning and I was on my way to Lagos from Abuja by road, Nah so network fail me oh. e pain me die as I missed ITA just with 12 mins

POF - Family of 4; I used 100% Gift Deed and also supported it with my Pension Certificate. I fixed the fund for two months and had to roll over three times, the last one being just last Friday and the confirmation mail came in just 20mins before the PPR mail grin I also submitted my six months salary account statements even though shingbain no dey inside. buhahahahahaha

LETTER OF EXPERIENCE
I got letters from my last employer only and didn't bother to include the current employer since I had only spend barely two months at that time. I also did and LOE to explain this part. the LOE also covered name issue on wifey and first son's passport, together with their 'same and one person' affidavit.

Medicals - (My greatest challenge even though I knew many people scaled through this) I had ADR for additional test due to my HBV status and that delayed a bit until 2nd November before I could pass medicals. The request came actually before AOR cos our medicals was upfront at Consultants Practice, but was not ready until after Biometric request as because I was using one very meticulous Gastro from Lagos Island General Hospital.

This is the end of my Story ooooh cool

Oya, Prof Ralph, come and give me my 10/10....I cannot coman go an kee myself

But before I leave, I wish to sincerely appreciate everyone on this thread especially @Newmum, Chai... That lady unknowingly did a lot for me on this journey. At a time, I was only interested in whatever she writes cos they were always addressing my issues directly then. May God in his infinite mercies continue to bless her and everyone on this journey, both the landed seniors, newly approved and the Jambites among us.

We will all have a a reason to laugh last by the special grace of God. I am happy today because God has crowned all my long time effort and it has finally ENDED IN PRAISE. cheesy

Once again I thank God and I am thanking everyone here.

PEACE!!!

So that means some hospitals have been flagged then.

Maybe these hospitals go back to collect the discount from the government and that is why they are being flagged

priscai:
We had same issue yesterday my husband was turned down cos of discount on itemized bill, I had my baby the first oakbend and second west houston, the Vo said they dont have problem with oakbend not withstanding the itemised bill shows same discount like the one we got from west Houston but the west Houston discount was on red flag.
Meanwhile I was so upset yesterday that I put a call to the hospital for suggestion and reason of denial linked with using west Houston, we as well send them a long e mail, it wasnt funny at all all.
They lady said they got a lot of calls these days on that they are working on it, meanwhile they have a new letter which addresses this purpose and if they be any reason of doubt the embassy should give them a call.

I am yet to get this letter for them as she promised sending it today.
I advice u give them a call too so they can put your request in line with others as we await their response.

Hello all,

With the resent scrutiny caused by Trump, is it still ok to say “because of dual citizenship” when asked by CPB why you want to give birth in the US.

Am sure it will keep pissing them off. What do you all think or advise

Thank God for His favour for your wife. This kind of story helps to prepare other women going on their missionary journey. I also agree that it wise to at least have a hospital with a reasonable fee because they are scrutinizing that too now. Going from the thread, low hospital bills bring a lot of questions.

It is well. We shall all scale through.

bayolaws123:
Hello Everyone,
How are you doing?
I've been a frequent reader on this site and i've been hoping to share our testimony once go through the process.

My wife flew delta to Newyork on 19/11/2018, Her final destination is Chicago (Local flight).
I didn't want her to fly to Chicago directly because of the attitude of most of the cbp officers , plus we had an experience last year together there that wasn't funny ( for the1st time in my 5 trips to the US, we were drilled and treated as though we had committed a crime coming to the US, the story long abeg.. Thank God we were not denied entry)

To the story

(Please Hold every relevant documents, The CHANGE OF INTENT Letter and importantly, GOD's FAVOR was what helped her gain entry .
New york that used to be a breeze, Trump has filled the head of some cbp officers with hate and discrimination even tho its not yet a law passed, some are acting like it is a crime)

CBPOfficer 1: hello, when was your last time in the USA and how long did you stay?
Me: last year and for I stayed for 3 weeks
CBPOfficer 1: do you have family in the USA
Me: yes my Aunt ( and I state where she stays)
CBPOfficer 1: do you work
Me: yes I do ( I tell him my job)
CBPOfficer 1: how long will you be staying in the us
Me: 14 weeks
CBPOfficer 1: 14 weeks? Why so long
Me: because I’m here to have my baby and I’m currently 29weeks pregnant
CBPOfficer 1: how much cash do you have
Me: $9500 in cash and $4000 on my card

He then asks me to scan my prints then signals another official to take me to secondary inspection.

At secondary inspection CBPOfficer 2 calls my name then starts to exclaim “what am I seeing? Tell me this is a mistake “
You want to have your baby here?
This is wrong! People just feel they have a right to come give birth in America. This is why the laws have to be changed! Are you trying to say there are no doctors in Nigeria? People have been giving birth since time past. You ain’t the first to pull this scam madam and it has to stop.
He ranted to his colleagues.

CBPOfficer 2: how many kids do you have?
Me: this is my first
CBPOfficer 2: I don’t believe you. Anyways how much cash do you have with you, I tell him. He then takes me into an inner office to count the cash.
CBPOfficer 2: this is still wrong, you went to request for a visa at the embassy and we gave it to you, now you turn to use it to have a baby here.
Me: I used the visa for the requested purpose and when I planned to have my baby, I sent a mail to the us consulate in Lagos stating my change of intent.
CBPOfficer 2: I don’t believe you indicated the purpose, else they wouldn’t have let you.
Me: I did and I have proof of the email thread. I gave it to him

Another officer asks me what me and husband’s job were. He also asked if I was using a midwife. I said No I was using a hospital and I stated the hospital.
CBPOfficer 2 then tells me to go have a sit while he deliberates on what to do

After a while he calls me again clearly upset that he had to but having nothing to deny me with, he stamps me in and says he knows that I’ll come back again to have another baby but I should be prepared that whenever I try to come to the us or renew my visa, Im going to face questions so I should ensure to have full proof of all payments made.
I said thank you and left with my visa. Whole interrogation took about an hour

Please be prepared, be confident ( if i was packing i won;t have been able to defend myself) and just know God got you. I kept declaring God;s will for me ar egood and not evil Jer 29vs11 and i kept calling the name of Jesus.

That's our testimony.
Hope it blessed someone and sheds light on important aspects for preparation. Also when applying for visa, your hospital figures need to be above 8000, just something i found out from the recent refusals)

Apart from wyckoff height hospital, is there any other hospital that you can recommend in NY (brooklyn).

Any doctor's contact that i can reach out to? Reached out to a couple of doctors but they have not responded. If i can get a doctor's contact in brooklyn that someone has used before. I will be grateful.

I am heading to Newyork. You?

Mandydaisy:

I don't think it should be a problem if you are getting in before it expires. If you are due in Feb. I don't think changing your return to same Feb is feasible as baby needs to be a few weeks before you depart.
I'd say leave your ticket as it is and you'll be stamped in for the normal 6 months. Just make sure all other docs are in order.

I plan leaving late Dec as well n due in Feb. Where u heading?
