Autos / Tata Nano To Hit Dealer Networks In February 2009 by mobileshub(m): 11:02am On Feb 23, 2009
The much talked about and delayed Tata Nano, in the ‘base’ and ‘fully loaded’ versions is ready to hit dealer networks by February end, this year. Tata Motors plans to throw an additional $435 million for the production of Tata Nano to nail down the production timeline.

Tata Motors would be doubling its investments for the project. The company is strongly supported by the government which is allowing it to buy land in eight yearly installments, beginning post production.

Tata Cars  India is anticipating the existing plants to produce about 7000 vehicles by the end of March. The production is likely to be scaled up to 80,000 over the next year. The automaker is hopeful of achieving the previously set target of 150,000 Tata Nano cars if the new factory opens in the first quarter of 2010-2011.

The protests in West Bengal delayed the previous launch of Tata Nano which was slated for October 2008.The new plant in Sanand in Gujarat will roll out the much awaited Nano shortly.

Autos / Mahindra Xylo In India by mobileshub(m): 7:57am On Feb 23, 2009
Mahindra & Mahindra, the utility market leader has recently launched its multi-purpose vehicle Xylo. The Xylo is the first in a series of new products that the company has lined up till 2010.

The other two launches that the carmaker plans by yearend are a mass-market light-cargo product like the Tata Ace. In 2010, the company plans to roll out its global SUV product. The company plans to organize its export thrust with the launches.

While the Xylo is positioned between the Bolero and Scorpio SUVs, the global SUV product will be positioned above the Scorpio, though it will be more mass market than the Ford Endeavour or Honda CRV price category.

It is to be mentioned here that all the three products have been designed to target both the domestic market as well as exports. Xylo, for instance, comes with a 2.5-litre CRDe (common rail diesel engine) like Scorpio, but it will also, in due course of time, get a petrol engine for its export avatar.

Mahindra Cars India is cranking out Xylo from its Nashik plant. Mahindra car prices range between Rs. 600,000 to Rs. 800,000 The maximum capacity for the MPV is 20,000-25,000 units a year while the Scorpio’s top capacity is 40,000 units a year.
