Romance / A Must Read:like A Rolling Stone, Let The Tears Begin To Stroll. by ModoetForma(m): 11:56am On Aug 04, 2014
"Kissing Air"- Fallen Hydra.

You chased after me. I shove open the door with a deafening crash, slamming it against the opposite wall. You rise and call out to me, incoherent words and meaningless phrases. The late afternoon light is bronze and sears my cheeks without notice. The suitcase in hand is empty, barren and void like a desert; what do I have to take it with me when you've plundered and stolen everything else? The lonely dirt road is strangely unfamiliar but the train station is in sight. I stride towards it.
You caught my hand. As you wretch my body to face towards you, your gasps surge down my face and your dark eyes distort, wild with fear. You ask me stupidly if I was really going. When I recoil away, you pluck me back again as if I am a flower that bends away from your oppressive wind. Staring at me to the point of being a glare, you tell me not to leave. My dress slides easily over my body like the ocean's waters; what happened to the love that was born that day I first touched the sea's tears? A distant ringing weaves in between us like a fluttering butterfly, warning me that the train was leaving. I start to tear away..
You drew my lips to yours. As I try to break free again, you yank me in and your cold lips presses against mine. Your hand screens and masks my cheek. For a moment, I forget my anger and everything seems right again. But I remember her, the one who destroyed everything that was right between us. I can feel the cold ring on your finger that presses against my cheek like a cold glass window; why did you care if you had her? A hard slap across the face shatters our contact. Hot angry tears scald my eyes and face. I turn away, knowing that if my graze crosses yours I would lose sight of all reason to leave, to become your chained prisoner again. My eyes didn't catch yours.
The hard road pounds against my feet. My sandals unravel then fall away, allowing loose stones to claw and to slice at my skin. The torrid heat parches my already impoverished throat. Rasps heave my body and, for an instant, the sun shudders. Then your voice screams the phrase that threatens to draw me back and make my tears storm for you. To weep for the paradise lost to us. Those two words still rings in my ear as my feet whisk me away. Don't go
~~~
Screech! The ear-piercing sound as the train shrieks to a stop slaps me out of my shrouding thoughts. I look up. I'm alone on this platform with only the dry wind as my companion. I see myself standing, abandoned on the forsaken platform like the sole survivor standing in the scorching desolation of an all-consuming firestorm.
Then I remember. When I left, you didn't chase after me or catch my hand or kiss me or beg me to stay. You didn't care enough to come after me. You chose her and forgot me.
You didn't follow.
The sliding door glides open before me with a low hiss. Staring over my shoulder one last time, there is only empty space waiting for me on the tiled platform. Then I wrap my hand around the handle to hoist myself up onto the lined steps.
Suddenly, something wispy curls around my wrist, stopping me. There you were, the most perfect mirage that my delusional mind could create. This apparition has the special scent that you had. Your echoing words of don't go, like the last dying notes of a love song...
I am shocked to find that even shaking my head was difficult. Your eyes convey the deepest regret that would've never appeared on your real face and warmth spreads from me for this flawless illusion that takes your smooth features. Before I can stop myself, I close my eyes and lean forward. My lips touch yours so tenderly.
To the world, I was just kissing air. Maybe I was just kissing my heart good-bye. But that last fleeting kiss, like a grazing butterfly, tasted like the salty tears of a far away ocean where a love was once born.
If only you cared enough to follow.
If only you cared that much.
Politics / Jonathan Warns Miscreants To Steer Clear Of Osun Polls. by ModoetForma(m): 3:27pm On Aug 03, 2014
Osogbo – President Goodluck Jonathan has warned miscreants to steer clear of the Aug. 9 Osun governorship election or face the wrath of the law.
The president gave the warning at the campaign grand finale of Sen. Iyiola Omisore, the state’s governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osogbo on Saturday.
Jonathan, who presented Omisore with the party’s flag, restated the determination of his administration to deploy massive security personnel to the state during the election in order to ensure that the exercise was properly policed.
“We will ensure that the election is violence-free. There must be one man one vote, one woman one vote and one youth one vote. You should all say no to violence and ensure that the votes count,” he said.
The president explained that the Federal Government would deploy enough security personnel to ensure the safety of lives and property, as well as a credible, transparent, free and fair election.
The president, therefore, urged the people to vote the PDP candidate to further facilitate Federal Government’s presence in the state.
In attendance at the rally were Vice President Namadi Sambo, PDP National Chairman Adamu Mu’azu, PDP Board of Trustee Chairman Tony Anenih and Governor-elect of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose.
Earlier, the president had visited the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade at his palace in Ile-Ife to pay homage.
Politics / Dangote Donates $1B To "Sorry" Nigeria For Productive Development. by ModoetForma(m): 12:21am On Aug 03, 2014
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Friday commended the Chairman, Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote for investing one billion dollars ($1billion) in rice production in the country.
The President made the commendation during the signing of the $1 billion-dollar Rice Investment Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), between the Federal Government and Dangote Group at the State House, Abuja. The Minister of Agriculture, Adewunmi Adesina and Alhaji Dangote signed on behalf of the Federal Government and Dangote Group respectively.
President Jonathan said the Dangote Group’s investment is the single largest investment ever made in rice production in Africa. He thanked Alhaji Dangote for investing in agriculture and assured him that his investment will be worthwhile.
President Jonathan said he looked forward to a time Nigeria will be self-sufficient in rice production and a net-exporter of the grain, adding that the Federal Government will protect Nigeria’s borders and check smuggling.
“Government cannot allow its borders to be porous. We are working on non-human measures and smugglers should have a rethink now and change their ways by investing their resources in other meaningful areas,” he said.
In less than four years, Nigeria hopes to become a net-exporter of rice. The Dangote Group’s investment in rice will cover five states and contribute additional 1.4 million metric tonnes of Paddy rice.
Alhaji Dangote thanked the President for the consistency of government policies, noting that the current $25 billion-dollar Dangote Cement Company was the result of the consistency of government policies. He assured President Jonathan, “We will continue to work hard and will not disappoint you.”
Meanwhile, President Jonathan has expressed his immense appreciation of the kindness of all persons who responded enthusiastically to his appeal for collective action by contributing generously to the Terror Victims’ Support Fund during the fund-raising event last night at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja.
The President said he was overwhelmed by the expression of support, cooperation and solidarity by Nigerians and friends of Nigeria from all walks of life. It shows that the public is genuinely concerned about the threat of terrorism to our common humanity and stands ready to support worthy causes and pro-people policies.
President Jonathan notes that the overwhelming demonstration of support for the Fund has greatly inspired and encouraged the government to continue to adopt every possible measure and do everything within its powers to bring terrorism in the country to an end as quickly as possible.
The Federal Government’s initial target of Fifty billion naira (N50 billion) was exceeded, a clear indication of support for the Federal Government’s counter-terrorism strategies.
The President commends the Chairman of the Terror Victims’ Support Foundation, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) and members of the Foundation for accepting to serve the nation in this regard. He is confident and convinced that the Foundation will make judicious and transparent use of the funds in order to ameliorate the negative impact of terrorism in the affected areas.
The total sum of Fifty-eight billion, seven hundred and ninety million naira (N58, 790 billion) was realised during the fund-raising on July 31, 2014 with the highest donation of N10 billion and the lowest individual contribution of N5, 000. President Jonathan appeals to other Nigerians and friends of the country to make their token contributions to the Fund as the Foundation seeks further support.
DrHesjay: Yea... Kinda kinda
It looks like you might be an aspirant. Blast your utme,blast your p utme . Your 100L level is very crucial. Many medical students are usually withdrawn at this stage. Avoid anything less than c in your grades. There is a policy of not having more than 3 d's or 1 F. I don't know if that still applies now but that was the case then. Failure to meet these requirements can hinder you from moving on to 200L. 100L is usualy the pre med stage tho so you still do your physics, chemistry and co. You must pass all these courses o. The exam was CBT. I don't know about now. Your 100L rain semester too, tackle all those physics very well. They are kinda thick. Succesful completion of the 100L sees you move on to 200 L also , students from branching departments like anatomy and physiology are allowed to cross into medicine depending on how conc your GP is. I don't know if that still applies now. 200L levels sees you being introduced to the cbd/ibs programe during harmattan semester in which you write an exam afterwards. There is no grading of students so its usually a pass/fail system whereby, getting anything less than 50 means fail. Also note that 100L level is usually done at the maincampus (ps) so at leats you can freestyle small before you cross over to cohs in uith. 200L rain semester sees you do another program to ( I can't remember the name) but you will be tested with a comprehensive exam at the end of the day and you must pass them o. The comprehensive exam is like a promotional exam. You are being tested on all you've learnt from your physiology, anatomy and biochemistry. Within these periods, you go for tje cobes program where you are beaing posted to different parts of the states for different assignments. At the end of the programe, you'll also be given exams on integrated papers. You must pass it o. Na like the 4th time I go talk am be this. After your 200L tho, you have a very lenghty break . The begining of 300L sees successful candidates from 200L start with another cobes program after which you write another integrated paper exam. Programs are done,exams are witten in 300L. You also get to write your first MB in 300L and you must pass these exams o mr man. Successful candidates from 300L the cross into 400L. 400L has a very lenghty calender year. In 400L, programs are done, exams are written , MB's are written and you must pass them o. 400L also marks the end of the basic medical year and successful students cross into 500L. 500L marks the begining of the clinical year.Its highly clinically oriented lots of courses to take and exams both internal and external are written and you must pass them o. This is like the 7th time I'm emphasizing on this. You also go for cobes in 500L. 600L too is also similar to 500L. You have lots of programs to do,exams to write as well as your mb's and you must pass these exams.Then from there, you can start thinking of what the future holds for you.
Best Wishes.
Education / Re: Pls Can A 2.2 Graduate Apply For Masters Directly Without Pgd by ModoetForma(m): 7:30pm On Aug 02, 2014
You can actually apply but it all depends on your GP. Most of the top nigerian universities accept 2.1 but a few can also accept 2.2. So in a nutshell, you can apply but it will be extremely difficult since 2.1 candidates will be considered first before they even think of considering you. In unilorin, we consider 2.2 candidates though.
Hope that helps.
Romance / The Dark Twisted Love Zone: A True Story That Will Make You Cry "I Waited" by ModoetForma(m): 2:06pm On Aug 02, 2014
A true story from Abigael.
His name was Ian. He was 23, and I was 19. I was a sophomore in college just moving into my new apartment when I saw him. He made a habit of smoking on his balcony, which I didn't mind because I knew someday I was going to have enough courage to talk to him. I was so shy. One day I bought a pack of cigarettes, and started smoking, in hopes that he would talk to me- which soon after, he did.
Everyday after that I stood outside his balcony to talk to him. I'm a decently shy person when it comes to men. I'm not awkward, but I'm often referred to as being quiet with an angel face. About 2 weeks into our balcony talks, he turns to go in his house, but before he could I stopped him and surprised myself when I asked,"When can I ask you on a date?" I suddenly got quiet and flustered, mainly because never in a millions years would I say that to any man, but all I could think was that this man must be worth it. He laughed and said,"Whenever you want," and walked into his house. I smiled and walked back to mine.
However, when I did officially ask him, he told me he wasn't ready to date because he was engaged earlier that year and had to break it off due to their differences. I told him I understood, but he made a point of saying that just because he wasn't ready then didn't mean he wouldn't be ready later on, and to not give up. I didn't.
At times, I became frustrated because all I wanted was one date with this man. I knew that I would love him, if he just gave me the chance. But I had to wait, because I new he was worth it, and good things come to those who wait. Three months went by, and I was slowly wearing him down with my charm, but he still came back with "patience is a virtue", and promised me that I would some day have that one date with him.
I always felt bothersome, like maybe I should just take the hint that he doesn't want a girl like me. I waited six months. Still, everyday I was outside his balcony talking about nothing for hours. As much I tried not to give up, he was the one slowly wearing me down. I walked into my apartment one day and saw that my phone had a message on it from him. I'll always remember it, "I never felt like I was enough for anyone, but I know that I'm enough for you, and I'll never stop appreciating you for that." It was the best feeling in the world to read that.
We finally had a date set for our first date. It felt like the most important day of my life. I knew I was in love with him at that point, when one date meant the world to me.
He worked about 45 minutes away from where we lived at a golf course. He knew the roads like the back of his hand. It was Wednesday and I noticed that his car wasn't out in front of his apartment, but I didn't think anything of it, until I got a call from his roommate saying I should meet him down in Lewiston, which was the city Ian worked in. I had a feeling in the pit of my stomach something was wrong. On my way down, I had passed a terrible accident involving two semis and what I would find out later to be Ian's car.
It was now Friday, two days after the accident, the day of our first date. My heart felt as if it was melting, it hurt so bad. But I sat outside his balcony and waited for him just like I had for 6 months.
At his funeral, I had the pleasure of meeting his parents. When I told them who I was, his mom smiled and looked at his dad, and said, "This is her". She told me to wait while she grabbed something. It was a letter Ian had written to her 6 months earlier. It was a letter about me. The last line read, "Mom, I'm going to marry this girl."
I waited 6 months for one date with a man that I never got, and I would do it a thousand times again if I had the chance.
Politics / Ebola Alert! FG Stops Transportation Of Corpses Into Nigeria. by ModoetForma(m): 12:50pm On Aug 02, 2014
As part of preventive measures against the Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, the Federal Government has directed relevant authorities to henceforth stop receiving corpses from the West African countries into the country.
The government specifically banned the bringing of corpses from the West African countries where the spread of EVD had been established. It however said that there was no fresh case of Ebola virus disease in the country.
The implication is that any Nigerian who dies in any of the affected West African country would be buried there as the cost of keeping such corpses in mortuaries until the EVD palaver settled could be very enormous. It also means less expenses for such bereaved families who may have to bury their loved ones in the said countries of West Africa.
On the heels of the Federal Government’s action was Anambra State government which yesterday, directed the screening of corpses entering into the state from any part of the country as part of it’s precautionary measures against the dreaded disease.
However, there were mixed reactions to the advice by health officials on Nigerians to avoid the consumption of bush meat so as not to contract the dreaded Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, at Amasiri in Afikpo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, where the Health Minister, Onyebuchi Chukwu, hails from.
70 contacts under monitoring
At least 70 persons have been identified to have had contact with the late Liberian, Mr. Patrick Sawyer who died of EVD, in Lagos, just as the Lagos State government said that two earlier identified persons who developed fever after having contact with Sawyer had tested negative of the killer disease.
At separate news conferences yesterday, at Ikeja on the update of Ebola case in the state, the Director, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, Professor Abdulsalim Nasidi, the Lagos State Commis-sioner for Health, Dr Jide Idris and Special Adviser to Governor Babtunde Fashola, Dr Yewande Adeshina, at Alausa, said the Rapid Response Team, RRT, on the disease was currently tracking all contacts of persons exposed to the passenger with EVD.
Nasidi, who commended the Lagos State government for its prompt response and pro-active measures so far, said that 75 percent of early detected patients of EVD survived.
Nasidi explained: “All the guidelines we are using were specified by the World Health Organisation, WHO. On the manifest concerning Sawyer, the manifest we are waiting for included the manifest on the first flight between Monrovia, Ghana and Lome… We have got some of the information but there are some little gaps we are trying to fill. We are getting full corporation from the airline operator.’’
On the corpse which arrived Anambra State from Liberia, they said it came into the country through Air Gambia. It was received in Lagos on July 21, 2014 and transported by road. It was received in a private mortuary.
“The FG has issued a directive that we will henceforth not receive anybody or corpse from the West African coast especially from Liberia and others that were on red alert for Ebola virus. Mechanisms are in place to checkmate that. For instance, a plane was to come into the country with a corpse but the port health officials rejected it. Our problem is the land border.
“We are working in collaboration, the country will be notified through the diplomatic channels that they should not allow any transportation of any dead corpse into the country, so it is both side
“But in order to have effective monitoring, we held a meeting today (yesterday) and how it will be done was stated. We shall be giving update on this very soon.
“All the handlers of the corpses brought into the country from Liberia via Air Gambia will be registered and tracked and those who accompanied the corpse to Anambra and the mortuary handlers are under quarantine in Anambra State.
“Our team in Anambra State will tomorrow, (Today) give us the statistics of those who came in contact with the corpse.
Foreign Affairs / From Convicted Offender To A Millionaire,man Gets New Life. by ModoetForma(m): 8:32am On Aug 02, 2014
Michael Phillips has been spending most of his time these days living in a tiny room in a no-frills northeast Dallas nursing home.
Until recently, he had a roommate who slept in a bed 2 feet away, and staff brought him three square meals a day.
Only a few hours passed each day in which he didn't think about his burden of four decades: being a convicted sex offender.
That was before Friday, when Phillips was officially exonerated by Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins' Conviction Integrity Unit, which determined via DNA testing that he was falsely convicted. The state will now pay him handsomely for its mistake.
It was a first-of-its-kind exoneration in that Phillips wasn't clamoring for vindication. As was the case when he accepted a plea deal in 1990, he felt that his race would preclude him from getting a fair shake in the justice system, so he just accepted his plight.
After entering his plea, Phillips, a 57-year-old African-American who grew up in New Orleans, served 12 years in a Texas prison for the rape of a 16-year-old white girl at a Dallas motel where he'd worked as a maintenance man.
Confined to a wheelchair due to his battle with sickle cell anemia, Phillips has been out of jail since 2002. He has been living in nursing homes the past few years as his health has spiraled downward.
Though he's been out of prison for 12 years, he considers his life one long sentence, as he was forced to wear the branding of a convicted sex offender.
In his first week as a free man, Phillips is overjoyed and struggles to put his emotions into words, instead pointing to the spirituality that helped him cope all these years.
"A-W-E doesn't describe the feeling. I don't know if they got a word that describes how I feel. To have a leash taken off my neck and off my ankle, I know how my ancestors felt when they got free," he said.
According to the Dallas Police Department report from September 28, 1990, the victim was awakened by a man wearing a black and white ski mask.
While struggling with the man and biting his hand several times, the victim told police, she pulled up her assailant's mask and recognized him as Phillips, a man she had seen living at the motel.
The following month, detectives showed the victim a six-picture lineup, and she again identified Phillips as the man who raped her.
(The Dallas Police Department no longer presents photos side by side, because the district attorney's office says it suggests that the perpetrator must be present and compels the victim to pick one.)
It didn't help that Phillips had a record. In an interview with CNN, Phillips acknowledged committing a home burglary when he was 19.
"Being young and foolish, there were things you do that were juvenile," he said.
But at 32, he was trying to make an honest living and was shocked to hear that he was being charged with a rape that he hadn't committed. He feels that the prior burglary conviction and a "broken criminal justice system" were to blame for the bad advice he got next.
"The first paid public defender came in there and said, 'Mr. Phillips, the DA went back and saw that you just got out of prison a couple of years ago, so they want to lock you up for 99 years.' He thought he was doing me a favor. He said, 'You could get life, so you are going to take this 99 years.' "
Eventually, another public defender convinced him to cut a deal and plead guilty in exchange for 12 years behind bars, rather than risk a trial. Fearing that a jury would not side with him after a white girl picked him out of a photo lineup, he took the deal, he said.A 2012 National Registry of Exonerations study found that among rape exonerations with eyewitness misidentifications, most involved a white victim and African-American assailant.
"That's huge racial disproportion," Gross said. "In most rapes, the attacker and the victim are of the same race. Rapes with white victims and black rapists are less than 10% of the total. So why do they make up a majority of rape cases in which innocent defendants are exonerated? I think the most powerful reason is the difficulty identifying strangers of a different race."
Psychological experiments bear this out, Gross said, "and in the United States, the biggest problem is Caucasians have a much harder time identifying African-Americans than identifying members of our own race."
Gross hopes the successes in Dallas create a road map to reproduce similar results in other jurisdictions, he said.
"We should do it, to the extent possible, because there may be a lot of innocent defendants who were convicted of terrible crimes who we could identify but who have just given up or moved on as best they can. Also, this sort of project might teach us lessons about the causes of wrongful convictions that we would never learn from other exonerations," Gross said.
Phillips is pleased Watkins and his unit are trying to help the many innocent men he met while incarcerated. Watkins and his team say they will continue fighting to free them.
"On one hand, this was like finding a needle in a haystack, because Michael Phillips had given up on pressing his claim of innocence, but on the other hand, this was a methodical approach that can be replicated nationwide," Watkins said. "Untested rape kits should not just sit on a shelf and collect dust. The exoneration continues to expose the past weakness in our criminal justice system."
Newly minted millionaire
Last week's exoneration not only clears Phillips' name and his credit report, it will also make him a wealthy man.
Texas law awards an exoneree $80,000 for each year of wrongful incarceration, so Phillips will get a lump sum of $960,000 and then $80,000 a year for as long as he lives.Texas also offers exonerees state-run health insurance and a free education, if they choose.
His family is planning to throw a big party for him this weekend, complete with barbecue, music and lots of joyous embraces.
Beyond that, all Phillips knows for sure about the future is that he is going to move out of his nursing home, buy a new vehicle and go to the dentist.
"The first thing I am going to do is get a Ford pickup truck and a house. Or I might just hit the road. You got 50 states. I might just hit the road and visit the rest of the country. I dreamed of going to China and walking on the Great Wall of China," he said.
Phillips has contemplated these possibilities for some time, never thinking that it was possible that his "crazy daydreams" could one day become reality.
But before he's done with his interview, he goes back to his original message. Leaning on an old Dorothy Love Coates gospel tune, he wants to make sure we know what he is really thankful for.
"Hang on to your faith. The Father works in his own time, and like the good song says: He may not come when you want to, but He's always on time."
Career / 10 Easy Ways To Be Successful In Both Business And In Life. by ModoetForma(m): 10:02pm On Aug 01, 2014
Why do some people succeed, while others fail to reach their goals? Here's one business owner's observations about what successful people do that others don't.In life, like in business, you have the people who are out there living it to the fullest and the bystanders letting it pass them by. You have the people who sit around and mope all day about how miserable their lives are, then you have the people who are out there crossing things off their bucket lists on a regular basis.
In business, you have the people who started from nothing and didn’t do anything to change their situations, like the people on occupy Wall St., then you have the people who saw whatever little opportunity they had and made the most of it.
Success is more than an idea, it is a state of mind. Although success is relative to each individual, the key to achieving success is the demeanor in which you go about living your life and taking advantage of opportunities that come to you.
Whether it be in life or in business, you should never take anything for granted and you should learn how to make the most of the situations that are presented to you.
10. Letting your gut-instincts keep you safe.This is more than street-smarts. I believe that gut instinct is not just some strange source but 1- the spiritual essence of us and our connection with the source of life, but also 2- it is a lifetime of observation and learning from experience. I surely have experienced life and I have spent my life observing people. I have the ability to peer into the insides of people. My mother could do it. She would make these statements about people she barely knew and she'd hit the nail on the head about their very essence. I too have this ability. The thing is it's not always something you can verbalize but your gut tells you some things right off the bat. This is a very useful thing in the business world and I believe we all have this ability but not everyone taps into it. Being able to read people doesn't mean that you immediately run or become best friends, it means that you proceed with caution filing away the info you've got on hand right now. If there is something queer about a business proposition, keep this up front as you examine it. You know in your gut when something's right and when something's not right.
9 A lifetime of self-examination- I cannot stress this enough.We are a work in progress. You will make mistakes, your attitude will change and you will grow. But if you don't take the time to examine yourself and your attitudes along the way, you run the risk of becoming stagnant and brittle. And brittle is a good candidate for crumbling dust. Examine your relationships with people, your business practices, not just your finances. In the end, it is your relationship with people that makes you successful in both life and business. If you find yourself having the same issues arise, it's time for some self-examination. What are you doing to contribute to this issue? What can you do to create a change?
8: Open mindedness to new ways of thinking.How many times have we seen people, throughout history, hold on to what they believe is the ONLY way to think, to find the world moving on without them? It was generally thought the automobile would never catch on; after all, weren't bicycles and trains more than enough? It doesn't mean you have to change your way of thinking or embrace it, just examine it, educate yourself about it and recognize that it may be here to stay.
7:Open mindedness to new technology--This relates to number 8 but in a business capacity, it is even more important. A pencil and paper may be your preferred method of working on finances, but you had better know a few things about technology or you and your pencil will be left behind. Sure you can hire others who know, but what you don't know CAN hurt you. Read! You can learn so much about anything by reading. And if you were tech savvy you would know the internet is the greatest addition to the library in regard to learning about everything!
6. Being streetwise and book-smart- There is nothing more important than having a reasonable balance of both. Naivety can cost you and not being educated to the level you need to function well in your chosen environment can cost you as well. Don't leave your street-smarts at the door in business environments but temper it with real knowledge as well.
As I enter this man office ehn....The man kon dey look me head to toe. I kon dey talk for my mind, I was like shey this guy na gay ni, wetin baba dey look. Na one kind young lecturer like that. If he won senior me sef, e no fit pass 5 years. Na so the man begin dey talk. ''Just look at you dressing, look at the way you dress and compare your self to others. Do you think this place is PS ( main campus). Where do you tjink you are !!!! Are you stupid, are you this, are you that." I waz like omo I don enter am today o. Wetin I do. My dressing wasn't even bad coz I was on a polo and khaki with sandals. After all the shakara and shouting sha, he later attended to me....Unluckily for me, meeting this man was going to be my greatesr mistake in that school. He sha made sure he didn't lemme rest, always troubling me here and there. Any little mistake, he takes it up like one big thing....He even failed me in an exam we wrote and he did it in a painful way...He failed me with one mark. I got 49% because in medicine, we use a pass or fail system so when you get below 50, its a fail and that can mean trouble for you.....I kon dey wonder, why this man no just gimme my one mark make I go free. That result will continue to haunt me though because I was unable to continue the MBBS programme. Medicine is sweet and when you see 600L students, they say many had fallen along the line but the good lord hath brought us this far.
Oh I remember my 100L days where they keep on saying if you get 3 d's or 1 F, you won't crosss to the teaching hospital. Me I no send 3 d's or 1 F ooo......I enjoyed my self and I enjoyed my self to the fullest ni. Opportunity comes but once. I made a lot of friends. All those chicks ehn, I miss them all. Only God know where dem dey now.
But this fateful day, something unpleasant happened.....TO BE CONTINUED.
Well mine is the University of Ilorin o. As for majority of the students in naija, everybody won go unilag. By the time unilag bounce me like three times, nobody tell me sey make I change to another institution. Of all the institution on ground, I felt unilorin would be the best choice. Applied for medicine, blasted jamb, blasted post jamb but like every other student, the main obstruction is getting admission. I checked portal for weeks. All they kept on saying was "dear aspirant, you have not been offered provisional admission yet,kindly check back later. I even gave up until one day I go cafe go check my e-mail. Na hin I kon talk sey make I even check this nonsense portal sef. To my joy, I was given admission.
After every registration and every uploading and downloading, I went to the school from lagos. Was confused and moving up and down because I didn't know where UITH was. Funny me, I thought I could get accomodation that same day. I check time, na hin I see sey yawa don gas. I'm that kind of person that makes friends easily and I saw one guy, talked to him, made friends with him and GBAM, he allowed me to stay one night in his place. The next day, I continued my hustling as usual and then located COHS. I didn't even know who my supervisor was and busted into one lecturer's office. "This man was going to be my most hated man in that school.".........Then, the unwanted happened.............TO BE CONTINUED.
This guy is insane and self stupidity teaches you to call your self pink guy, a name dedicated to kids like you from obnoxious parents. The pink guy you call yourself shows clearly you are the one from your so called "product of leaking condom". Let me take my time to correct your insidious misuse of words. I'm sure you meant ''leaking" and not "licking". Well its not new, your educational background is clearly poor like I earlier said. And don't tell me to have a nice day because your type don't have friends and never will you. Once again, check yourself and find out what's wrong with you boy pinky.
Foreign Affairs / A Must Read: 10 Urban Tales That Will Send Chills Down You Spine. by ModoetForma(m): 1:58pm On Aug 01, 2014
1. Foot prints in the snow: This urban legend involves a teenage girl who was home with her little sister while their parents were out on the town. After watching some television together, she sent her little sister to bed and then went back downstairs to watch more TV. Eventually, she got bored with what she was watching and turned it off, then curled up in a blanket on the couch and watched the snow fall through the large sliding-glass window in the living room. She had only been watching for a few minutes when she saw a man walking toward the sliding glass doors with deadly purpose. He started to pull something shiny out of his coat and she dove under her blanket in terror.
After a while, she pulled down the blanket and found that the man was gone. She called the police, who immediately rushed over to the scene to investigate. Upon examining the premises, one of the first things they noticed was that there were no footprints in the snow. And with the rate of snowfall, there was no way they could have been covered that quickly. Puzzled, the officers inspected the residence and noticed wet footprints on the carpetleading straight up to the couch where the girl had been sitting. The madman had been behind her the whole time and what she had seen had been his reflection in the window.
2. The chilling discovery: are multiple versions of this story, and most of them start with a young college girl who was studying late, and thus was spending a lot of time in the library instead of her dorm room. During a late night of studying, she realized that she had forgotten something in her dorm room, so she decided to make a trip back to go get it. When she opened the door she found the room dark, but figured that her roommate was either asleep or out studying like her. Not wanting to disturb her in case she was asleep, she left the light off, grabbed what she needed, and went back to the library.
Upon returning to her room, she found her roommate lying on the floor with a slit throat. But the worst part was the messagewritten in lipstick on the bathroom mirror that read simply, “Aren’t you glad you didn’t turn on the light?”.
3: The gas station attendant:It was late and a young woman was driving through an unfamiliar area deep in the country. Her car was old and ureliable, and soon she realized that she’d have to stop for gas soon if she didn’t want to start walking. As luck would have it, she came across an old gas station a little farther down the road. It was an old-fashioned station, the kind with an attendant who comes out to pump the gas, and something about it set the alarm bells ringing in her head. But she knew that she couldn’t get much farther without refueling, so she reluctantly pulled into the gas station and asked the attendant to fill up the tank. The attendant seemed nervous as he filled up her gas tank, but eventually he finished the job and came over to the driver’s side to get the payment. She gave him a $20 bill and he examined it carefully, then told her that it was counterfeit. At this point the alarm bells weren’t ringing any more—they were rioting. The attendant explained that he would have to take her back to his office and call his manager, because the counterfeit would have to be reported to the bank. Once he had convinced her to come with him, he explained that the bill wasn’t actually counterfeit—he’d gotten her out of the car because there was a man with a hatchet hiding in the backseat.
pinkguy: pls start coming now he-goat
It just shows how stupid you are and how extremely ineligible you are to be even called humanoid. You posted rubbish and everyone is against it. Of all words you learnt from your sorry educational background, the best you remember is ''he-goat". Your mother must have forgotten to teach you manners o and check yourself, sit down and think of where your problem lies before your life becomes more miserable. Until then, continue to feel sorry for yourself.
Foreign Affairs / Ebola Virus Hits New Heights. by ModoetForma(m): 9:51pm On Jul 31, 2014
Nancy Writebol fought for her life against Ebola hemorrhagic fever on Thursday.
While she did, the virus that befell the American missionary in Liberia as she worked to save its victims continued on a rampage through West Africa.
It is believed to have killed 729 people in Guinea, Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria from March through July 27, the World Health Organization said Thursday.
It is the worst Ebola outbreak in history. There is no cure and no vaccine, but care from medical workers so far has helped sustain the lives of nearly half of those stricken.
Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Thursday that even in a best-case scenario, it could easily take three to six months to stem the epidemic in West Africa.
The outbreak also prompted the CDC to issue a warning against all "nonessential" travel to the countries coping with an outbreak, Frieden said.
As for Writebol, her family is praying that her life is spared, too.
U.S. government officials are in ongoing talks to bring Writebol and another Ebola-stricken American, fellow aid worker Dr. Kent Brantly, back from Liberia, an administration official and a State Department source said on Thursday.
Writebol's husband, David, who is with the same mission as his wife, is near her, said their son Jeremy, who spoke with CNN's Chris Cuomo from the United States.
But she is isolated from him, and he has to wear head-to-toe protective clothing similar to a hazmat suit so that he does not contract a disease that starts out with similar symptoms as a strong flu but can end in internal bleeding and death.
