THE GERUMA PEOPLE The Guruma people live in northern Nigeria, in an area where Sharia law has been imposed. They are primarily located in four main villages in Bauchi State. The Geruma are ruled by the Gera people, and because of this they have adopted Islam. Their literacy rate is low. Their language is shifting from Geruma to Hausa, the dominant language and culture of the area. Ministry Obstacles The Geruma people are resistant to the Gospel of Christ, and they live in an area where Sharia law is in effect. Much care must be taken by anyone approaching them with the Gospel. Outreach Ideas Christian recordings are available in the Geruma language, and many resources are available in the Hausa language. Workers are needed to make these available to the people. Pray for the Followers of Christ There are Christians in some of the nearby people groups. Pray they will see their part of the Great Commission and reach out to the Geruma. Pray for the Entire People Group Pray the Geruma tribe will be given a growing desire to learn more about Jesus (whom Muslims call Isa al-Masih), as he is mentioned in the mosque. Perhaps he will come to some in dreams and visions. |

THE GWA PEOPLE GROUP State found: Bauchi state (Toro LGA) Population: 2520 Religion: Africa Traditional Religion Language: Gwa Bible translation: NO Christian: 3% Evangelical: 2% History The Gwa people exceled as hunters, but now they are more likely to be farmers. Where Are they Located? The Gwa people group are located in Saminaka Gwa, a village in Toro local government of Bauchi State. To get to this community from Jos, move to Magama along Bauchi road, from Magma to Ganjole, from Ganjole to Saminaka Gwa (Old and New). What Are Their Lives Like? They formerly settled in a location which was at a distance to the present Gwa village. Because they are hunters, they go to the interior forest to hunt. After killing the animals, they encountered the challenge of moving the carcass to their settlement where they would sell the meat. They established the habit of preparing it and cutting it up for easy carriage. Eventually they established a new village near where they hunt. Since the land is also fertile, they engaged in farming as well. Hausa culture is gradually dominating the Gwa culture. What Are Their Beliefs? It should be noted that the Gwa people group had their own native religion in the past. Now they blend that with Islam, resulting in folk Islamic beliefs. Officially they are Muslims, but their daily lives are dominated by the same gods that they worshipped before the arrival of Islam. What Are Their Needs? Reach the Rest has mobilized ECWA church to the field and that has given many Gwa people the opportunity to hear the gospel for the first time. The Gwa need workers, as well as hearts that are open to the life-giving gospel. Prayer Points �Scripture Prayers for the Gwa in Nigeria. �Pray for the Gwa culture to be renewed and enhanced by a work of the Holy Spirit and shaped into a God-centered and God-honoring mold. �Pray for the Holy Spirit to move among Gwa family and community leaders to seek His face and enjoy His blessings. �Pray for the Lord to thrust out workers who will be compelled to nurture a disciple making movement among the Gwa people. �Pray that soon the Gwa people will have faith that will lead them to live honorable lives that will draw others to the Savior. |

The joy produced by the Holy Ghost is a crucial part of our Christian Race. (Acts 2:24, Hebrews 12:2). Joy is a strong catalyst in the journey of our faith. However, there are seasons when life hits and things go on a deadline, what should be the response of a believer? Our response determines what happens right after - Joel 1:12, Habakkuk 3:17-19 Anywhere the spirit of God is, there must be joy. When we are full of the spirit, there is an outflow that our lives must produce - they are outflows of Joy. WHAT ARE THE OUTFLOWS OF A JOYFUL LIFE? � SINGING: "Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. While it has always been God's desire to fellowship with His children, it is also important to realise that God wants to be valued and treasured above everyone and everything else. He is a Jealous God. He used to come down to fellowship with Adam. But after the fall, Adam was banished out of God's presence. Man then had to pay a price to get God's attention. He approached God's presence with great care and fear. He had lost his glorious access into God's presence. Thank God for the sacrifice of Jesus by which access has been restored so we are able to come boldly into God's very presence through a new and living way - the blood of Jesus. He therefore hides himself so that only those who mean business can find Him. It is said that in agronomy, the farther water is from the surface of the soil, the deeper the roots of the tree go in order to connect with the water it so desperately need to thrive. God wants us to seek and pursue His presence HERE ARE SOME TIPS TO ACTIVATE THE PRESENCE OF GOD 1. Hunger for His presence Read Psalm 63:1-2 2. Worship Read 2 Chronicles 5:13-14 3. The Word Words create atmospheres. Words can produce excitement or grieve. They attract or repel. The right words create a conducive atmosphere of love and acceptance. When you constantly speak the word of God, you will create an atmosphere that attracts the presence of God. Luke 5:17 4. Obedience When you walk in obedience to God's instructions, the presence of God will be evidence in your life. Genesis 26:2-3 A lot of people you walk in the enemy's hand by walking in disregard or disobedience to God's word and God's instruction to them. God has zero tolerance for rebellion and will withdraw from you once you're walking in disobedience. Hosea 5:15 |

YOU CAN BE LED BY THE SPIRIT Romans 8:14-17, NLT 14. For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. 15. So you should not be like cowering, fearful slaves. You should behave instead like God's very own children, adopted into his family—calling him "Father, dear Father." 16 For his Holy Spirit speaks to us deep in our hearts and tells us that we are God's children. 17. And since we are his children, we will share his treasures—for everything God gives to his Son, Christ, is ours, too. But if we are to share his glory, we must also share his suffering. For many Christians, being led by the Holy spirit is for pastors and some special Christians. They have either never expected to be led by the Spirit or have given up on any such expectations. They only use their senses in making the choices and decisions of their daily lives, but as we can see from our text, being led by Holy spirit is an indicator of our relationship with God. The good news is, every child of God can or should and can be led by the spirit of God. Our senses and our reasoning are good and we should use them but they only enable us to relate to the physical and mental world around us. They cannot help us relate to the spiritual world in which God lives. Once we are saved, the Holy Spirit comes to live in us and can relate divine information to us through our own spirit. How can we be led by the Holy Spirit? To be led by the Holy Spirit, we must: 1. Believe that God will lead us and trust Him to do so. 2. Ask for His guidance often. It is a good practice to pray for his guidance each morning. 3. Pause before making important decisions and ask Him to show you what to do and listen in your heart for His direction. Conclusion: We get better at discerning His direction the more we actively seek it. Do you need the presence of the Holy spirit in your life? Yes you too can be led by Him. First you need to be born again. John 1:12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. Confess Jesus right now, say you believe Him, ask Him to come into your heart. Yes after that, Heavens rejoice over your soul and welcomes. Ask for his spirit to lead and guide you. God is with always. |
