Superstar Gospel Singer, Tim Godfrey has narrated how he attempted suicide when he was younger due to hardship as a ‘houseboy’.

The singer revealed in an interview with The Sun that he had very humble beginnings and had to become a houseboy by the age of 12.

When he was asked his most embarrassing moment working as a houseboy, he said ;

Working as a houseboy was not an embarrassing experience but a painful one. I was always beaten and abused. There was nothing fun about the experience. I was flogged until I bled. I never stole and was not disobedient but it was not a good experience. I remember one day I ran away from my master’s house and I almost committed suicide.

I was like ‘this life is not worth it. If I go back to my parents, this man will come for me again, because that was about the fourth time I was running away from his house’. It was a nightmare staying with him. I couldn’t watch television, listen to radio or play around with friends.

I was just there washing, cleaning and sweeping. I became a houseboy at the age of 12 due to crippling poverty.

A young lady, who mocked actress Regina Daniels for getting married to 59-year-old Ned Nwoko, has been outed as someone who is also married to a 72-year old white man in England.

In a video she made, she expressed disappointment that Regina Daniels got married to Ned Nwoko, a 59-year billionaire yesterday in Delta State.



Shortly after she made a video expressing her disappointment, another video surfaced showing her with a white old man she is allegedly married to.

Regina Daniels and Ned Nwoko got married yesterday, a union that was kicked against by the father Jude Ojeogwu. According to him, it doesn’t have his consent. He also revealed that he and Ned grew up together and that he’s actually 62 and not the widely publicized 59-year old the media say he is.

In his post shared on Facebook yesterday, Jude Ojeogwu stated that he couldn’t believe Ned would be getting married to his daughter whom is says is 17-year old and not 20. He also warned her mother who has been calling the shots concerning the marriage.

The man whose body was found lying in a pool of blood by a roadside in Aba, has been identified as Divine, an ex-soldier from Nkporo in Ohafia local government area of Abia State.


The body was seen lying at Bata junction off factory road, along Aba-Owerri road in the early hours of Tuesday. He was lying with his legs spread apart and bloodied human organs can be seen in the middle of his legs. His penis had been cut off. He was also bruised in his inner thigh, as though he had been burnt with an iron. See previous report here

A HEALTHY LOVELY MAN AROUND 35 YEARS OLD.

The acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu, has said the commission is seeking partnership with Nigerian entertainers to fight corruption particularly internet fraud.



He made this statement on Wednesday while speaking on the prosecution of musician, Afeez Fashola, a.k.a Naira Marley, for charges bordering on internet fraud at an interactive session with artistes, comedians, and On-Air-Personalities in Abuja.

“I have said it in the past and I will also like to restate, that the EFCC does not go after an innocent person.

“Our mandate is to rid Nigeria of any form of economic and financial crimes, and internet .



Magu also sought to partner with Nigerian artistes and comedians in the fight against corruption particularly internet fraud.



EFCC acting spokesman, Mr. Tony Orilade quoted the chairman to have told the stakeholders in the entertainment industry that they had a part to play in discouraging criminality in the society.



He said, “You have a very wide reach, so lend us your voices. Please let your works propagate and promote integrity and the right values.

“I urge you to raise a collective slogan against all forms of criminality among our youths, condemn in strong terms, ostentatious living without credible sources of income, particularly the get-rich-at-all-cost syndrome among the youths.

“We need you to join hands with the EFCC in this fight against corruption because we need you more than ever before to change the negative narratives about our country being havens of internet fraudsters.

“I have always stressed that we cannot claim to have the monopoly of knowledge of how to fight corruption at the EFCC.

“We are, however, driven by the passion to explore all frontiers that will enable us to achieve a better society for our children yet unborn – an egalitarian society and one which we all can be proud of.”

A bus belonging to the Bus Rapid Transport scheme in Lagos State has been razed by fire on the Third Mainland Bridge.

According to the Twitter handle of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency, the fire started around 9:30 a.m. shortly after the Adeniji Adele section of the road, inward Iyana Oworo.

As of the time of filing this report, the fire had been put out by men from the Lagos State Fire Service.

Samuel Nkemakolem, Yenagoa

A 300-level medical student of the Niger Delta University, Ammasoma in the Southern Ijaw Local Governmant Area of Bayelsa State, has committed suicide for failing his examination.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the student, identified as Uzakah Ebiweni, dived into the Amassoma River and drowned before he could get help.

Sources at the university said few hours after Ebiweni’s body was recovered, another student attempted to kill himself by running into a fast-moving motorcycle was rescued by other students.

It was gathered that Ebiweni, a student of Surgery and Medicine at the Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences of the NDU, decided to kill himself following his failure to realise his dream.

He was said to be among the students disqualified by the institution after their results were released on Friday.

Ebiweni, it was learnt, found the development difficult to accept and was said to have dropped a hint about his suicidal intention through his WhatsApp status update.



He said the late student might have resorted to suicide after news that he was among the 22 students shortlisted to be withdrawn from the college.

Ingezi stated, “You know, it is a general practice that every student passes the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery exams before progressing to the next level of academic pursuit.




“But Ebiweni and 21 others failed beyond the level that they could be placed on academic probation for another academic year; so, they had to be withdrawn. So, in our usual practice, we did not break the news to the students until they had been invited for counselling.

“When Ebiweni was counselled and informed that he would be withdrawn from the college, he accepted the decision of the college in good faith and left, only to for the university to hear afterwards that the young man took his own life.”

The first female President of the Federated African Medical Students’ Association, Esite Winifred, lamented the development.
