Health / Is Covid-19 The Equaliser That It Has Been Touted To Be? by Mrlimerine: 2:33pm On Sep 17, 2020
Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, has not been spared from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. The government has recently lifted lockdown measures, which the President acknowledges imposed a heavy economic cost on the country.

In the early days of the virus’ spread, it was touted as a great equaliser in some quarters as it does not discriminate, infecting both rich and poor. However, it has not affected us equally – glaring examples include access to health care for testing and treatment and the ability to adhere to social distancing measures. Furthermore, COVID-19 lockdowns aimed atslowing down the spread of the pandemic have severely curtailed economic activity, resulting in the loss of income, particularly for those who can ill-afford this.

This has exacerbated existing food insecurity, leaving governments, NGOs and other organisations established to assist with the response overwhelmed and overstretched. The increased need for support during this period is massive, but through the support of companies such as PepsiCo, other corporates and the goodwill of ordinary individuals, we will do everything that we can to provide relief to communities that we serve.
FoodClique has been providing meals to thousands of vulnerable Nigerians since 2012. But the country is now experiencing extremely high levels of hunger, an unintended consequence of the COVID-19 economic shutdown. At FoodClique, we believe that hunger is everyone’s problem, even if it does not affect you directly. Therefore, each and everyone of us who are able to offer a helping hand during these trying times, should do so.

So, to my point, COVID-19 is not an equaliser. It has actually widened social and economic divisions with many poor people lamenting that they will not die from the disease, but from hunger.

None of us know how long this pandemic will be with us, and many more will continue to suffer during this period and beyond. If you are reading this, you are probably one of the few in a position to help someone. So, I urge and call upon you to do your bit to help those in need during this crisis.

Business / Old Mutual Deepens Access To Insurance Benefits With E-claims Channels by Mrlimerine: 5:18pm On Apr 30, 2020
As businesses lockdown to halt the fast-spreading COVID-19 pandemic in Nigeria, Old Mutual Nigeria, has launched an electronic channel to ensure unbroken and convenient access to insurance benefits for its customers.

The firm, which is the Nigerian subsidiary of the pan-African insurance firm and global financial services provider, Old Mutual Limited, announced that policyholders, despite the lockdown, can make claims through its digital and mobile-friendly, e-commerce web portal, to ensure that their access to the benefits of insurance remains sacrosanct.

The e-claims channel is in line with the brand's commitment to providing accessible, swifter, convenient, affordable, tailor-made and exceptional customer-service inspired insurance services to the Nigerian customers.

Commenting on the development, Executive Head, Marketing, Old Mutual Nigeria, Alero Ladipo said that the launch of the brand's revamped e-commerce web portal aligns with its continuous leverage of digital innovations to deepen accessibility to its insurance solutions to its customers.

"We are committed to deepening accessibility to insurance solutions to our customers in Nigeria. With the rapid spread of COVID19, businesses have resorted to working remotely. Also, the Federal and State Governments had to carry out the responsible constraint on movement and large gatherings in its effort to break person-to-person spread of this virus. So, it is expedient that we meet our customers at the point of their needs.

"To ensure that everyone gets the benefits of their insurance policy, our customers can now initiate a claim by simply visiting our website www.oldmutual.com.ng, click on 'Make a Claim' button at the top right corner of the home page, fill the form with the relevant details and select Claim under the drop-down menu. After this seamless process, the customer's claim will be paid within 48 hours", she added.

Other requests that can be made are to make a part-withdrawal on your Savings Policy or a surrender when required.

Old Mutual is committed to building trust with customers and offering solutions to both their prospective and existing customers through innovative services and products that meet unique needs for both individual and corporate customers all available at their fingertips.

Phones / Re: Has Mtn Lumos Electricity Fold? by Mrlimerine: 3:18pm On Mar 30, 2020
We all know you want to sell your inverter. Now, badmouthing and pulling down another brand in the name of marketing is what I can’t stand.
I use the Lumos box, I understand it’s capacity and I use my appliances accordingly. That way, I don’t stress.
If you don’t overwork it, the Lumos box is a brilliant alternative for anyone trying to relieve theirselves from all these NEPA blackouts and generator noise wahala. Get real! Tell people why they need to buy your own product, biko.

It's pretty simple. Buy your box, they install for you, you subscribe, and you are connected to the service. I got mine at an MTN outlet. But my guy just don't overload it and you will enjoy it. I heard they are now on Jumia sef.
