They started dating when she was 17. He was 31. They married a year later. The girl is an American citizen of Congolese origin.

The ex-wife of a very popular Congolese gospel artist, Mike Kalambay, recently revealed that she left him because he beat her with a belt for one hour while she was 5 months pregnant. When she had announced their split last year she only mentioned leaving due to his infidelity.
