honourableseyi: Clear throat!!!!! Good afternoon everyone congratulations to those that have gotten their admissions and visas in part 6, come to DE and succeed. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the page I was in part 6, I know a lot would have actually happened in-between. In any case and or no matter how difficult it is staring at you, just believe that it is doable. Do not give up because that shouldn't be an option. I have told few people around me this same thing when it seemed it is not going to work out, but they are in Germany today to the glory of God. Friends will despise you, family members that have promised heaven on earth will act as if they do not know you anymore when the reality comes, but in all these things, always believe that you are more than conqueror through Christ that loved us. The fact might be saying it is not possible, but the truth is you can do all things through Christ that strengthens you. These are just a few lines of encouragement for those that are passing through so many difficulties in this journey. Many of us have been in such situations before, but to the glory of God today, it has become a testimony.
I am using this medium to register myself to part 7 of this great movement. Now that the examination is over, I think I have little time to contribute in my own little way once again to this movement.
Tips for the incoming students:
** Lower your expectation no matter how promising ** So also to your friends and family members. Let them also know that you are going there to study and you have limited time as per work as a student. This will also allow them to lower their expectation too since some believe once you are in abroad, you are already making millions every week. ** Take your study serious instead of hustling alone in your first year, after that you can then work on how you can manoeuvre and balance yourself between study and hustling since you must have gotten used to the system. ** Money does not fall on a tree, you will have to work for every cent you earn ** Connect with people in your school, city and state. No matter what, they will or can have information that you might not have at your disposal ** Come with your original certificates as well as a certified copy of your certificates. This is because if your program is going south, you can quickly find your level before it is too late. ** If you have a visa for school and city A but eventually going to school and city B, irrespective of what your decision will be, keep city B to yourself till you have entered Germany(you are on Germany soil and not airport) because you make your next move on it. ** Do not forget your winter jacket and boot, but you do not have to buy a lot of them. When you enter, you can get a better one even if it is a bit costly, it will not matter so far it can swallow the cold. ** Whatever skills you have, try and polish it very well and make sure you know the Knitty-gritty of it because it might be your saving grace here. ** If you haven't done so, open a LinkedIn account and try to grow your network even while still in Nigeria. This might come handy in your job search.
If anyone is coming to Hamburg, you can buzz me and let's see what we can do.
The tips are not limited to these, they are just some out of many. This country has everything for you to succeed as an average Nigerian if you are diligent and not lazy without the need to know a commissioner, minister or senator. Finally, please run away from crime and all its appearances no matter how small.
Wishing you all a successful planning, preparation and journey to Germany. Shalom I am coming to Hamburg, I will need your help. I sent you a mail |

okpala95: Hi Intending Potsdamers,
This is for your orientation.
Potsdam is a capital city. Just about 15 mins to Berlin. Its not a super interesting place to live in; - It's a major abode of old and aged people who can't keep up with the youthful life style of Berlin. So they migrate to Potsdam cos it's kinda peaceful.
- The houses a quite cheap but very hard to find. Ranging from 270 upwards. Depends on your choice of apartment and what you are looking for.
- No tourist or recreation places to visit. Speaking from personal view, clubs are also hard to find (clubs are the major places to have fun, as far as i know) People mostly go to berlin to have fun. It's not like there's fun there sha.
- if you mingle with the right people, potsdam could be fun for you.
- UniPotsdam student ID covers transportation in Berlin and Brandenburg. (yes, you can move upandan fr free in these places)
- German foods are blank. No spice, no taste, total waste of energy and emotions.
- Nobody cares about you, so mind your business. Even if you fall from a stairs - they wouldn't care, it's not their business especially when your skin is black. But some people could care though.
- No one cares about your dressing as well - but it could pose a sort of attraction when you wear some pretty short dresses (i mean extra short and revealing) cos of your black skin. People literally look at you in disgust and become ashamed on your behalf. Although, right now, alot of people are walking about shirtless and bras alone. Wch is kind of a soothing sight to behold.. Even when they are not endowed ![undecided](https://www.nairaland.com/faces/undecided.png)
- Education is quite cool. Depends on your program. Mine is okay but very intensive. (you can't select how many courses to take in a semester - means that you spend exactly 2 years.. Except if you fail. And if you try to prolong the program.. People won't take you seriously cos also all the professors can recognise you. Especially during labs cos we're less than 25) In some program, you can select and even prolong the duration of your program till Jesus Christ comes.
-Different faculties in different campus. E.g. Art and languages are in main campus AM neuen palais.
- Work is very very hard to get.. If you don't know German. Tbvh. Except you go to Berlin. Wch is not so far. But still hard to get kn berlin as well. It's good to know German. It's the in-thing now to get a job.
- Afro stores are available as well. Berlin and Potsdam. But bring your food (it can't be overemphasised. Especially when they sell packet of Maggi here for 5€.)
- oh yes.. Resident permit is 1yr. Yes.. 1 yr. That meins you have to blocked your account again or show some funds in your account for renewal of the permit. I don't know how much exactly. - people move to Berlin cos of this. Berlin gives 2yrs. But housing is freaking expensive there. About 400€ upwards. Then you have to move from Berlin to Potsdam fr classes - close to 30-45 mins depending on where you are.
- Sadly, i know nothing about Brandenburg or cottbus. Even though part of the region in Potsdam.
I hope this helps. Pm your questions or ask them here. PS.. I could reply late. Any information on Hamburg? |

It is included in NPC ATTESTATION OF BIRTH and NPC Birth Certificate Plz where did you do yours, are you in Lagos? |

Since you're above 18, they are not going to give you a BIRTH CERTIFICATE. What you're getting is an ATTESTATION OF BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
In the details given by you to them, it will contain your place of birth, mother's name, father's name and your hometown.
There's no "place of issue".
I attached mine so you'd see what it looks like. I blurred the sensitive parts however.
Carpe Diem Is date of birth not included? |

After your studies, you get 18 months from your foreign office to get a Job. when you get a job offer, your 18 months will be converted to a Blue card and in most cases, you could between 2-4 years on your blue card. During the time of possession of this blue card, you need to work for 21 months couple with B1 certificate and you´re entitled to a PR.
Or 33 months + A1 for PR
Does it mean before you get a PR, you will submit your B1 German certicate.
Does it mean before you get a PR, you will present your B1 German certicate. |
