Congratulations mummy to be,loved your responses to the VO so elaborate but straight to the point.Sometimes clipped and monosyllabic responses don't just cut it.
baeboss:
Hi everyone. Here is my visa application story/Poe story. I'm grateful to God Almighty for everything. Got my visa ending of January 2017. Applied for B2. Interview took place in abj. Went with all my documents but no single document was requested for.
The female visa officer asked what I was going to do in the US and I told her that i was pregnant and I intend to take my maternity leave and go give birth in the US then quickly come back and resume work. She asked me what i do for a living and I told her I'm a lawyer and i work for xxxxxx company. I even went further to explain in details, my duties/roles and all other services i provide. To confirm if i was truly a lawyer, she asked about my most recent interesting case in court. Also asked what my husband does for a living. Told her a writer for xxxxx company in the US so She asked if he was based in the US and i said no, he is based in Nigeria because he covers stories in the West African region. She asked for my EDD and how long I intend to stay in the US. I told her 8 weeks but was hoping that I will deliver before my EDD so that I could quickly come back to Nigeria. She further asked how much the child birthing will cost and how much i have of which i told her about $13,000- $14,000 for child birth and xxxxxx amount of money on me. She asked if this is my 1st pregnancy and i said yes with a smile on my face. Her last question was if the pregnancy has any complications and i quickly said no and that since its my 1st I just want what is best for the child and while i was saying all that, she was already handing over the white paper to me. Her last words to me "YOUR VISA HAS BEEN GRANTED, YOU HAVE BEEN TRUTHFUL TO ME SO BE TRUTHFUL AT THE POE." By God's grace I spoke with confidence all through the interview and I was audible. Most importantly I prayed to the Holy Spirit to speak through me and also be with the person who will interview me. Got my Emirates tickets for Dallas and then United airlines for Houston. Flew Emirates at 34+weeks. Submited medif form to the email addy but still Used a fit to fly letter from teaching hospital. Spent a night in dubai. Dubai visa and hotel accommodation covered by emirates. Landed in Dallas around 10am. The airport DFW was empty so no queue. Tried to use the self service machine but my passport was not scanning so was asked to meet the CBP officer. I did not spend up to 2 minutes. The officer asked me where i was going to in the US and what i was planning to do and i said Houston and that I'm on maternity leave so i intend to rest and give birth. He asked how long i intend to stay and I said 8 weeks and he stamped me in for 6 months. No single documents was asked for again. (Even tho i had paid my doctor's fee and accomodation) Went to carry my luggage then met the 2nd CBP officer who asked me where I was going, i said Houston. He said asked how much I have on me and i told him xxxxx amount. He said i can see that you are pregnant and i smiled and said yes. He asked if i have any family in the US and i said no. He asked if I have made arrangements for accommodation and i said yes and paid for and made gesture to show him the accommodation receipt but he waved and said I can go. Took a shuttle to terminal E to board United airlines to Houston. Arrived Houston 40mins later and waited for my host (precious cedars) to come pick me up. Using Dr Dama Ziworitin a.k.a Dr Z and i have already had my 1st appointment with him. After which i went to register with Oakbend. Oakbend honoured their old price after i showed them the correspondence I was given by Dr Z when I first contacted him. To God be the Glory! Special tnx to my amazing friend @Diobyy (babygirl you are one in a million. I love you) and all other ladies who responded when i reached out to them in the course of my research.

reniduke:
Hi Mrs sugar, im in houston too. got in on wednesday. the flight via emirates is looooooong. i have never experienced such in my life, my last US trip was on United airlines so 17 hours direct from Lagos, while this one was 30 hours total, abeg it was a lesson in endurance, food was pfft. I'm just 32 weeks so ds your KLM must have been sweet for una with 36weeks belle.

Anyway, our POE story is similar and since i cant figure out how to type on nairaland unless Im replying someone, lemme just state where mine was different from yours.
1. I flew emirates, They asked for my fit to fly on emirates.
2.when i landed in houston, no body asked for a single document, not doctor's records, evidence of payment, like nothing, all my papers stayed in my bag, and i found myself asking them, sorry, is that all?
3. First officer asks what im here for, i say maternity leave, he says ure pregnant?!?, (cos i dont look it, if you're not looking for it), he asks if anyone is joining me later, i say husband, he says cool. any food, i say no, he says- not even egusi, I say not even that. Then i ask him if he's had egusi before, he says- does it taste like mangoes? i laugh, i tell him what it is, he laughs and says, sorry to keep me further, but i just need to see one more officer.
4. Then I got sent to secondary check where i was getting nervous for nothing. Officer said he just wanted to tell me I had done well by notifying the embassy in Naija and then he calls two of his colleagues to read the email the embassy sent them about me, then he starts to gist me about two other women who lied about pregnancies and how they were denied entry. I make all the right, "ehn ehn", "oh my" sounds and he says i should keep it up, honesty and all and ensure my hospital gives me a clear bill before i leave. He Asked how much i had but did not ask to see any proof even when i told him i don't have cash only card (must be my angelic face).
4. NO agric visit, the end!!!

Thanks Nairalanders in this forum!!!

Are you sure we didn't meet same CBP officers?congrats dear,God see us through

Hello all
Thanks once again for this great forum,I honestly don't know how the testimony I had last month would have been possible. Shared my stories already

Got into Houston yesterday and want to share my Poe story, another victory testimony.

Flew KLM to Houston at 36weeks.Pls this is not for the faint hearted and won't advice anyone to try this, fly earlier if you can.I wasn't asked for fit to fly though I had one from my doctor.

Got to Houston safely, food on plane was DELICIOUS!IT JUST KEPT COMING LOL!

Got to the CBP officer.Very handsome and young hispanic guy
Our flight was the only one at the time so no crowd.Apparently he was gisting with another cute officer so they were both in good moods
CBP1:hello passport please(smiling)
Me:hello(hands over passport)
Cbp1:*looking at passport* you sure this is you ma'am (both CBP 1 n 2 chuckling)
Cbp2 :it would be a problem if it weren't her

Me:I was tired but had to laugh."Yes that's me" (pregnancy altered my looks a bit)

Cbp1:so you want to give birth in US why?
Me:my hubby and I want the best for our baby, its our first child and we scared of high mortality rate back home cos of past complications plus America ranks no 1 in obstetrics care
CBP:OK....but you'd have to follow my colleague to the other room for secondary inspection
Me:with a smile says okay

Then comes the almighty famous secondary inspection lol.

After 10minutes waiting with other people Cbp calls for me and I followed him to a room and sat.Just me and him

CBP:*typing and then pauses* oh I see you're here for child birth and you informed the embassy already
Me:yes
CBP:how long you here for?
Me:3 months
CBP:oh I see....to give you time to recover right?
Me:though I put in 8 weeks in my application, explained I was told the doc would have to certify me and my baby fit to fly before I could leave so had to extend my stay to 3months

CBP: okay
CBP:you have some papers to show me?

Me:handing all my docs

Cbp:pls keep all your receipts you'd need them when next you come into the US so you won't have issues okay?

Me:"nods* okay I will
At this point I knew it was a done deal!

Cbp: okay this checks out.You already made some deposits too i see.how much on you?

Me:Bleep dollars

Cbp:oh sh*t!!!!!I just typed and hit delete mistakingly. Sorry ma'am will have to do your paper work again

MesadI just dey look the guy )
He typed and gave me my papers after stamping me till October( 6 months). He didn't even notice my passport would expire September.
All took like 5min

Carried my luggage to agric. The guy says "oh from Nigeria hope you don't have Garri, yam or chicken products like knorr chicken lol".They know us well!
I said no just the regular knorr cubes he laughed and said "oh you been here before?" I said no but I'm aware of the rules,he says to his colleague "this one knows the rules even on her first trip". They both laugh.
He asks someone to help me with my bags without searching and I was free to go.

Houston Poe will be a breeze if your burden of proof is in order with your medical visa,no need to fear. It's when the story is otherwise then you may have a terrible experience.

Thanks to all Nairalanders!May God crown all the sacrifices and efforts we are making for our children with blessings.

You just spoke my mind,in trying to give responses to inquiry some people become savages lol.Let's put ourselves in peoples shoes sometimes before responding and to the person receiving advise the ultimate decision still lies with you.No one here is a vo or cbp remember that
ojceskills:
It is really unfair when lots come here and advise people to give up and have their babies here in Nigeria...If he wanted to do that, he wont be seeking alternative advise...I remember same way the lady who lied about visiting relatives for 40 days and was denied was severally advised to just have her baby in Nigeria but lo..She finally went back and was truthful and got the visa...My point is he is aware he messed up and is now trying to make things right by suggesting a holiday trip before going for birthing why be such a wet blanket though

shakidude:
Hello all,

Continuation of my experience.

Part 2:

After I was denied the visa renewal in Abuja, I contemplated going to Canada but found out that it takes about 4 month for visa processing and I'm far gone in my pregnancy. Hubby planned to send me to UK (I have a valid UK visa and family there.) since my pregnancy is high risk but me I was skeptical. If we are going to spend that much for birthing, it's better in the US where I get to have d health care that I want and also citizenship for my baby. I decided to try again this time in Lagos (exactly 2 weeks) as earlier adviced then by nefertitiram, misssexiest and others here but I went alone cos hubby was not interested.

Here goes the transcript:

VO: good morn ma'am
Me: good morn
VO: where are you going in the US and why?
Me: Texas and to have my baby
VO: what do you do?
Me: I'm a physical therapist(physiotherapist)
VO: what are your roles?
Me well composed, told him a lot about all I do
VO: nodding and smiling. Okay, let's say I have left shoulder dislocation, how are you going to manage it?
Me: in my mind, I was like, is this a promotion interview or visa interview? Still calm and smiling I told him about how i will first assess him and how I will rehabilitate him till he will regain  functional use of his limb.
VO: impressed. Now glanced to d screen and read for a while. Turned to me and said. I see that you were recently refused in abuja
Me: that's correct
VO: do you know why?
Me: No I don't she no kuku tell me. Na green paper she give me.
VO: I also see that you have applied for all your visas in Abuja. Why have you decided to come to Lagos this time?
Me: like I said earlier. I was refused in Abuja and couldnt understand why and I wanted to reapply as soon as possible and I was under the impression that I will get a faster date in Lagos.
VO: how much are you paying for the birth?
Me: this time, I didn't bother to ask whether na doctor's fee or total. My budget is 20k. About 8500 for the doctor and other expenses
VO: can i see ur Dr's correspondence
Me: handed it over and he read through it
VO: how much did you pay the last time
Me: Though the hospital fee was  4200, I rented an apartment and paid 1500, I flew to Arizona with my husband, I bought groceries and others so if I calculate everything, I will say about 8 to 9k
VO: why are you not going to this same hospital this time around?
Me: this time I'm going alone. I can't afford to stay alone in Arizona without my husband since I have no family or friend there. I'm going to Texas to stay with a friend.
VO: how did you find out about this hospital
Me: smiled and answered. I did research online.
VO: He began typing for so long ooooo and I'm like wow! I hope he's not going to deny me again. Na so I begin fire prayer
VO: looked at me and said excuse me ma'am. He went inside with my passport oooo. I knew i had done my best and he was impressed with me. So maybe he went inside for further discussions. I continued praying and asked God to take control.
VO: came out much later with a bright smile. Congratulations ma'am, your visa has been approved. At that point, I went to Cloud 7 abi na 9 self.
Me: thank you, thank you.

I prayed before I went and friends and family prayed with me. I give the glory  to God for directing me to the right person and staying with me throughout the process.

Conclusion: If you are really convinced in your heart that you have not done anything wrong, never lied during your application or interview but was still refused, apply again, go with confidence and state your case. Most importantly, avoid Abuja embassy now if you are pregnant and going for visa renewal, they already have a mindset for refusal and it would be very hard to convince them.

Good luck to others.

Congrats dear.

NOTE that people here are not VOs, Airline reps, CBP or anything related. Everyone is just sharing based on their personal experiences and those of friends/relatives (true or untrue). Most importantly, it's good to try your luck regardless. Go after what you want - no matter how difficult they might seem to others, your case is different.

People have used BI/B2 visas for childbirths and were able to renew successful manhy times. In whatever case, notify the embassy of change of intention, be prepared for POE interviews, don't lie for any reason to the immigration officials and get your documents ready (including receipts).

I had an interesting encounter in Chicago few weeks ago at POE, I will share latter smiley

Ire oo!
thank you so much

Hello all
Just want to thank you all for the tips i read on here.I want to share i had a successful interview today at the U.S. Consulate after declaring i was going to birth in Houston and to the glory of God was granted my visa
I don't know if anyone remembers my story from the first time i applied for visa and said would like to spend 40days on tourist visa just in feb last month but was denied?I posted my transcript.
Well i applied for a tourist visa then to go for a graduation being pregnant but concealed nicely in a big dress though wasn't asked if i was and didn't declare even though truthfully i wanted to travel for the purpose of birth.I was given an almighty blue rejection slip lmao.
So barely a month later i decided to apply again but sought advise here first about the possibility of applying to go give birth and what my chances were though everyone who commented after i posted the transcript adviced me not to bother, telling me i would definitely get a no.That i should have my LO here wait a year b4 reapplying, others said it would seem desperate others said its a hopeless case and truly my case was a mess.
Regardless,i was convinced in my heart to give it another go.This time applied for a medical visa ,armed with correspondence with doctor plus her letter of acceptance hubby and i already made a small deposit for doctor's fee and went there for interview and 2min later came my white paper.
It was only God because i had truly just 2.8M naira in my account!yes o
They didn't ask for a single document!God showed himself to me today like he has never before!I'm still shaking even now.
This just goes to show if you're convinced in your heart about something especially when you believe God has directed you, follow through. He always sees you through

Oh this is so wrong. Don't bother please. Here is a possible remedy. Give birth here in Nigeria, when the child is a year old, apply for a tourist visa for the both of you, go for tourism purposes and then on the next trip, have the next child. Unless you can spare visa fees, don't reapply even after 3 months.
- 40 days was a red flag. To reappear saying you want to give birth, after that interview, would be another red flag. Now your husband I guess is a US Citizen, another red flag (maybe, maybe not).

ok thank you
