Looks like Kenya is ahead of the pack yet again. The "Giant of Africa" with 200 plus million people scrambled for a pathetic bronze medal They were all busy here on Nairaland talking crap about Kenya and SA instead of working towards improving their toilet of a country. Shame on you Nigeria. You are a hideous blemish on the motherland. #Giant Armpit of Africa 114 Likes 12 Shares |

macaranta: Because these are the sort of things about Kenya that seem to fascinate you nairalandas. You go to google and search for the oddest, silliest stories from Kenya and then post them here under sensational titles. And you do that everyday. What's strange is that these stories must have a sexual connotation. And then you all act shocked, appalled, horrified, and outraged... as if Nigeria is a scandal free country. One of the reasons Kenyan news finds itself here is because Kenya's media houses are THE BEST in Africa. There are a few beacons of continent-wide journalistic excellence, but these are few and far between. East Africa’s Nation Media Group has an excellent network of foreign correspondents across the continent. It produces much of its own news about Africa for its stable of newspapers, television stations and news sites. South Africa’s e-tv has a bureau in Nairobi, Kenya. Nigerians seem very hungry for African stories and Kenya's media houses are printing out more stories than many other African countries. The only problem is that nairalandas are only interested in the Kenyan tabloids. Nairalanders really, really care about our village idiots. They want to know who slept with whom and in which Kenyan village. They want to know which Kenyan villager cheated on his wife with her sister. And in which position they were caught. Oh, and are there any pictures? Please guys, stop. Just stop. You are starting to embarrass yourselves with this Kenyan obsession of yours. I suppose it's ok to feature such stories sometimes, but if it's all you guys care about then it says more about you than it says about us. 2 Likes |
Religion / Re: Is Africa Cursed Spiritually? by MtuFulani: 12:32pm On Mar 11, 2011 |
of course africans are a cursed people. any monkey can tell you that! africans are the dumbest people on earth. they love to elect the most unwise leaders who fullfill their mandate to rob and rape their own people. africans are so selfish. its sickening. i can tell you right now that black people will never get ahead. we are too stupid to help ourselves. in fact we would be doing the rest of the wold a favor if we all killed ourselves and stop begging them for help. if you take a serious look at african affairs, you will see how trully foolish we are. fucking niggaz. |

gallivant: Thanks Gallivat. I am a very patriotic Kenyan and I love my country dearly. You are right: Rome was not built in a day. That is why I would like to emphasize the importance of work and industry. In all reality, Kenya has only one hope, and that is education. Education that stretches FAR beyond our 844 curriculum. A liberal education. What is a liberal education? It is one that teaches us to be free men. Such an education is VERY hard to acquire because it involves A LOT of study. Much more than you imagine. I think such an attitude, as a foundation for our development, is very agreeable. Nothing can shake a nation of sensible men. However, the greater majority of Kenyans today will never know an education of this kind, but they are in the unique position of instilling in their children, a tradition of education. A love for knowledge. Has it occured to you that Kenya, as yet, has no notable Philosopher? We must start producing such people, who will astound us with the breath and depth of their thoughts. People who will haunt our thinking with their thinking. Looking at these pictures, I feel happy with the progress. However, i wish there were more libraries being built all around the country. Also, i wish there were more pictures depicting the progress of our arts. The arts are fundamental to progress, and their impact on a nation's psyche cannot be overemphasized. I saw a picture, of KIMATHI'S statue by the Hilton. Why was he dressed like a world war 2 soldier? When he was arrested, he was clad in a Leopards skin. It would have been a great compliment to the statue, and to Kimathi, to include the leopards skin. Traditionally, the leopard is a reveered hunter. Its skill inspired beautiful poems and tributes. If our children saw this skin, they would feel compelled to ask, "Papa, why is that man covered in a leopard's skin?" And here, papa would bear his civic duty, and educate his beloved son. |

Hi? Call me Mtu. I've been watching this thread for some time now, and as a proud Kenyan, I feel compelled to contribute. I will start, and perhaps end, on a harsh note. It is all very well, that my fellow Kenyans are proud of some of our minuscule accomplishments. I warn you however, not to get it over our heads. If we sat and thought, we would realize that we have nothing to show off. To this day, Ancient Egyptians have more to display than we do. Their pyramids speak to all, of a GREAT people whose character, strength, and resolve remains peerless. Kenya is very much a zygote. A cultural zygote, a political zygote, and an economic zygote. At less than 50 years old, as a people, none of us should be audacious enough to say that he/she knows what it means to be a Kenyan. It is much like a zygote endevouring to describe itself, yet it knows not if it's male or female. Things may look a little brighter now, but remember, that zygotes are easily born still. So, what sensible role can a modern Kenyan play? A donkey. That's the only beast we can most sensibly emulate. We must work hard. 8 hours a day is not nearly enough. 10 hours is equally pathetic. 12 hours isn't much of an improvement either. Nor is 14. 16 hours are reasonable, but they pale when you think of 24 hrs. Day and night we must work. Work is not necessarily physical. There is mental toil too, and this is of greater significance. What tool do we need? A spade! We must dig, and dig deep. Our foundations must be solid, so that when our children stand tall and say that they are KENYANS, that claim will be unshakable. |
