Sports / Ronaldo's Madeira House Burgled After Garage Door Left Open In Portugal by mubleen(m): 2:52pm On Oct 08, 2020
Police are reportedly investigating a burglary at Cristiano Ronaldo’s home in Madeira.

The thief is said to have got into the property in the island capital Funchal through an open garage door while the footballer was away with the Portugal national team.

A relative of the Ronaldo's raised the alarm on Wednesday morning, according to respected island paper Diario de Noticias Madeira. On Wednesday night, Ronaldo featured in a match against Spain.

The local paper reported that the burglar took the opportunity get in through the garage when it was opened by a maintenance worker.

A signed Juventus shirt, worth around £180, is said to have been among items taken along with other small possessions.

Police are already understood to have visited the property and are said to have identified the thief, described as someone who is already known to them, from CCTV cameras. No arrests have yet been made.

It was not immediately clear if Cristiano's doting mum Dolores or his older brother Hugo, who both live at the seven-floor house, were inside the property at the time.

Meanwhile, his partner Georgina Rodriguez was away at Paris Fashion Week.

Juventus striker Cristiano spent the first part of the coronavirus lockdown earlier this year staying on the top two floors of the house with his partner Georgina Rodriguez and his children after Serie A football was suspended.

They later moved to a villa with a garden around half an hour’s drive away before flying back to Italy.

The former Man U and Real Madrid star played in last night’s 0-0 draw between Portugal and Spain.

Barcelona’s Gerard Pique and former Chelsea frontman Alvaro Morata, are among top footballers whose homes have been targeted by thieves.

OFFICIAL: Man Utd sign Van de Beek from Ajax on a five-year deal
an hour ago / ArseneWang
Manchester United confirm the arrival of Donny van de Beek from Ajax. The Dutch midfielder has signed a five-year contract, with an option to extend for a further year.

Van de Beek, 23, came through the ranks of the Ajax youth system, making his senior debut in 2015. Experienced in European competitions, he played a key role as Ajax reached the semi-finals of the Champions League in 2019 and also featured in the 2017 Europa League final against United.

The Netherlands international contributed 10 goals and 11 assists in 37 games last season before the Eredivisie was curtailed.

Donny van de Beek said: “I cannot begin to explain how incredible an opportunity it is to join a club with such an amazing history.

“I would like to thank everyone at Ajax. I grew up there and I will always have a special bond with the club.

“I am now ready to take the next step in my career and perform at the highest level and there is no higher standard than Manchester United.

Sports / Messi's Father & Agent Says It Will Be 'difficult' For Messi To Remain At Barca by mubleen(m): 11:43am On Sep 02, 2020
Messi's father and agent says it will be 'difficult' for his son to remain at Barcelona

Jorge Messi has confessed it is 'difficult' to see his son staying with Barcelona this summer as he prepares for showdown talks with club president Josep Bartomeu.

Messi's father arrived in the Catalan city on Wednesday morning as he looks to gain clarity on the future of Lionel as he continues to boycott pre-season training in a bid to force through his departure.

As he emerged out of a taxi, a reporter quizzed Jorge Messi for any updates on the situation and while he remained tight-lipped, he did express that he feels it is difficult for Lionel to stay at the club given the player and club are at war now over his contract.

Sports / Messi's Father Jorge Breaks Silence As He Lands In Barcelona For Showdown Talks by mubleen(m): 9:33am On Sep 02, 2020
Jorge Messi has landed in Barcelona for showdown talks over his son Lionel's future - and declared: "I don't know anything".

Messi Snr, who also works as the agent of the Argentinian superstar, was pictured boarding a private plane in Argentina on Tuesday night to head to Spain.

He landed at El Prat Airport in Barcelona first thing on Wednesday morning where he was met by a scrum of reporters after his son plunged the Catalan club into chaos.

In his first public appearance since the news broke, he simply said: "I don't know anything, guys" as he headed into a taxi beyond a scrum of reporters.

He will meet with club chiefs including president Josep Maria Bartomeu later in the day.

It is claimed Jorge wants to negotiate an amicable exit from the club, whilst Bartomeu and Barcelona still hope to convince their star man to pen a new deal.

Manchester City director of football Txiki Begiristain is also currently in Barcelona, with some suggestions he could meet with Messi.

The Premier League club are front-runners to land the playmaker if he departs, with claims they have submitted a huge five-year contract proposal worth a staggering amount of over £600million.

With Messi refusing to report to the start of pre-season training under new manager Ronald Koeman this week, the situation is getting increasingly intense.

LaLiga also waded in to release a statement insisting his release clause at the club still applies.

And the arrival of Jorge Messi means the next 24-48 hours are set to be crucial and could be decisive in the future of arguably the greatest player of all-time.

Barcelona are said to want to offer him a two-year deal until the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Messi, meanwhile, is adamant he wants to leave but faces a tricky situation with dispute over the release clause in his contract.

The player insists the clause has expired and does not currently apply whereas Barcelona and LaLiga say his £623million release clause is still active.

BREAKING: Rakitic undergoing medical ahead of Sevilla return

Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic is returning to Sevilla six years after captaining them to the Europa League title in 2014.

The Croatian midfielder is undergoing a medical in the Catalan capital on Monday ahead of returning to Los Rojiblancos, with an agreement reached between the clubs and player for the return.

The details are outlined by Marca, who say that the central midfielder is now just ‘a step away’ from his return to the Andalusian capital, where his wife is from – – the two met when he joined the club from Schalke – and where the player was keen to return.

The central midfielder has been heavily linked with a summer exit from the Blaugrana as he enters the final 12 months of his current contract, with no transfer fee reported but thought to be minimal.

The 31-year-old has clocked up 310 appearances for Barcelona since his switch from Seville in the summer of 2014 and he has won a plethora of trophies – including four La Liga titles, four Copa del Rey trophies and the 2015 Champions League title.

Sports / Havertz Has Trained For The Last Time At Leverkusen, Boss Peter Bosz Confirms by mubleen(m): 1:30pm On Aug 31, 2020
Chelsea have been handed a huge boost in their pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen star Kai Havertz after his manager confirmed he has had his final training session at the club.

Frank Lampard's side have held a long-standing interest in the 21-year-old and the £90million move looks to be edging closer.

'Unfortunately, our squad has not yet been determined,' Leverkusen boss Peter Bosz said on Monday.

'I don't expect Kevin Volland and Kai Havertz to train with us again.

'It is possible that other players will also change. We definitely need to bring in players.'

Havertz checked in for international duty with Germany on Monday ahead of UEFA Nations League clashes against Spain and Switzerland this week.

Lampard is continuing to rebuild his Blues side this summer after finishing fourth in his debut season in charge.

Havertz's fellow Germany team-mate Timo Werner made the switch from RB Leipzig to Stamford Bridge.

The Blues recently added Leicester left-back Ben Chilwell to their growing list of new signings, as the England international made a £50million move to London.

They also announced the signing of Thiago Silva, formally of PSG, on a free transfer from PSG, as well as French defender Malang Sarr.

Sports / Jurgen Klopp Admits He Would Be Interested In Signing Lionel Messi For Liverpool by mubleen(m): 2:51pm On Aug 28, 2020
Messi remains at loggerheads with the club he has called home for almost 20 years, with a transfer demanded in the wake of what he sees as broken promises.

Barca were embarrassed 8-2 by Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the Champions League earlier this month, and have now replaced manager Quique Setien with the former Southampton and Everton boss Ronald Koeman.

Messi is being hotly-tipped for a move to Manchester City this summer, and when quizzed over whether he would like to add him to his Liverpool squad Klopp responded as many would expect him to.

"Yeah, who doesn't want Messi in their team?" said the Reds boss ahead of the Premier League champions' Community Shield clash against Arsenal at Wembley on Saturday.

"But no chance. The numbers are absolutely not for us. But... good player to be honest!"

Klopp went even further and cast doubt on City's move for the star, perhaps wondering if even they had the finances required to pull off the deal.

"It [signing Messi] will obviously help Man City and make it more difficult to beat them," said Klopp.

"For the Premier League, it would be great, that would help, but I am not sure the Premier League needs that boost.

"He's never played in another league. Football is different here. I'd like to see it. Not sure I will."

Klopp was also quizzed on his plans in the transfer market with the Reds having only brought in Greek defender Kostas Tsimikas this summer.

"We bought players in already!" he said.

"Kostas, the kids are getting closer and look well. I don't know what will happen.

"There is a long time to go until (the window shuts on) October 5th. We will deal with our situation like we always have. We will see how much we can or want to spend."

Sports / Barcelona Coach Ronald Koeman Eyes 2 Key Target In This Summer Transfer (video) by mubleen(m): 8:34am On Aug 21, 2020
Ronald Koeman has identified Memphis Depay as the striker to rejuvenate Barcelona's attack, according to a report by radio station RAC1.

The new Barça coach sees the 26-year-old Dutch attacker seen as the man to replace Luis Suárez, who has been tipped as one of the players close to the Camp Nou exit door. Although, the 33-year-old Uruguayan has one year left on his contract and his camp have emphatically rejected that he will leave this summer.

However, Koeman is steadfast in moving forward with his new project and Barcelona’s sporting direction are taking serious note of the players he wants to bring in.

Depay a more affordable option than Lautaro

Currently plying his trade at Olympique Lyon, Depay is known for being a fast, physical and versatile forward who can also play on the wings. The 26-year-old Dutchman would also be a much more affordable option than Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martínez, who, up to now, has been the number one target for Barcelona’s sporting directors.

Depay has a contract until 2021, meaning Barcelona would look to pay no more than €40 million, taking into account that the player could leave on a free transfer next summer.

Barcelona also eyeing Van de Beek

A second target of Koeman is another Dutchman, Ajax midfielder, Donny van de Beek, who has long been heavily linked with Real Madrid.

Van de Beek has spoken of a possible move to Madrid in the past, but the presence of Koeman on the Barça bench could sway him towards the Catalan capital. At 23 years old, Van de Beek is one of the great promises of Dutch football and could come into replace Ivan Rakitic, whose days at the club are numbered.

Sports / The 7 Most Successful Uefa Champions League Managers In History (video) by mubleen(m): 8:41pm On Aug 20, 2020
The Chaaaaaaaaaaaammmmmmpppppioooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnnssssssssss!

When you hear that music, you know something wild is about to happen. When they rebranded the European Cup as the Champions League in 1992, they created a sporting competition that was as much hype as it was excellent football. The chance and chaos of a cup competition self-styled as the biggest and best club competition around.

The Champions League has delivered on memorable moments over the years. Incredible scenes of drama and tragedy, and central to all this has been the managers. The players get all the glory on the pitch, but managers are just as important (sometimes even moreso) than they are. So we’ve had a look at all the managers since the Champions League’s rebranding and come up with the top 7.

7. Jupp Heynckes
Clubs: Real Madrid and Bayern Munich
W/D/L: 41/16/20
Win Percentage: 70%
Trophies Won: 1998 (Madrid), 2013 (Bayern)

Heynckes was a journeyman coach with a fairly impressive UEFA Cup record when Real Madrid took a shot on him in 1997. A year later and he helped them capture their first Champions League for 32 years, reigniting Los Blancos’ love affair with the European Cup. He was still sacked, though, for finishing fourth in La Liga.

6. Sir Alex Ferguson

Clubs: Manchester United
W/D/L: 105/50/39
Win Percentage: 54%
Trophies Won: 1999, 2008

Sir Alex Ferguson loses the head-to-head with Del Bosque but ranks above him through the fact that he battered just about everyone else at least once during his phenomenally long run in the Champions League (no one can match the 194 matches he’s taken charge of). Sir Alex was, of course, the man behind the miracle minute in 1999, and he was also at the helm for the radically different 2008 juggernaut of a side.

5. Louis van Gaal

Clubs: Ajax, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Manchester United
W/D/L: 57/16/22
Win Percentage: 60%
Trophies Won: 1995 (Ajax)

Sometimes it’s not just how many you win but how you win them. Louis van Gaal’s Champions League career spanned 10 seasons but he was never more brilliant than in his first three with Ajax. Specifically his first two, where he made the final both times, winning it once and only being denied by a doped-up Juventus the year after.

4. José Mourinho

Clubs: Porto, Chelsea, Inter, Real Madrid, Manchester United, Totteham Hotspur
W/D/L: 80/36/25
Win Percentage: 56.74%
Trophies Won: 2004 (Porto), 2010 (Inter)

José Mourinho is a bit like Game of Thrones in that when he first showed up he was brutal, charming and instantly hypnotic but by the end, he was incoherent, contradictory and just plain annoying. The Portuguese shook up the world by winning the Champions League with Porto before moving to Chelsea and almost overnight turning them into one of the best teams in Europe.

Per Opta, the 28-year-old completed 16 successful dribbles in the match, which is the highest in a Champions League game since April 2008.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Benzema Names NEYMAR Best Dribbler, Barca File Case Against Arthur N Much More by mubleen(m): 4:27pm On Jul 29, 2020
Benzema: Neymar is the best dribbler in the world

The two played on opposite sides of the Clasico derby in Spain during the Brazilian's time with Barcelona, but that hasn't stopped the Frenchman from respecting Neymar's talent.
"Neymar, and that's all," Benzema responded when asked by fans on his YouTube channel to name his top five dribblers.
Benzema had been backed by a number of people as a candidate for this year's Ballon d'Or until France Football cancelled the award for 2020 due to COVID-19.
"Of course I think about the Ballon d'Or," he said.
"I have since I was small, but it's not an obsession.
"It doesn't drive me crazy, but when you're competitive it's normal to think about it."
But being the best striker in the world isn't something he thinks about too often.

Manchester United are prepared to sell Jesse Lingard this summer

The 27-year-old England international has seen limited game time this season and only has one year left on his £100,000-a-week deal at Old Trafford.
But while it is believed Lingard is not pushing for a move, The Times report that the popular academy product is likely to leave Old Trafford, with interest in him from clubs across Europe, including Serie A side Roma and Borussia Monchengladbach in Germany.

Barcelona to file case against Arthur and will not rescind his contract
arcelona are not willing to give in to the Brazilian's request to terminate his contract one month before his move to Juventus.
On Monday, Arthur didn't show up for his coronavirus test and, on Tuesday, he didn't turn up for training.
The player feels that he has been mistreated by Barcelona after having previously stated on several occasions that he didn't want to leave the club, only to be forced into a move to Juventus.
The club sees this as an act of rebellion and indiscipline on the midfielder's part, and have filed a case against the Brazilian.
Within the club, they believe that if Arthur had acted in a more responsible way and opened up a dialogue, the situation could have been resolved in a more amicable way.
But after taking the decision to leave without permission, the internal code of the club will be enforced.

Sports / 10 FOOTBALL STARS Who Could Be On The Move This Summer by mubleen(m): 3:06pm On Jul 27, 2020
The transfer window is open and there are A-list players in demand and whose futures are uncertain. We take a look at some of the big names who will be the centre of attention during the transfer window.

10. Wilfred Zaha

It was no secret that Wilfried Zaha wanted to leave Crystal Palace last summer, but the move didn't happen and despite his initial disappointment he managed to get his head right and focus on doing his best for Palace. But a year on, and Zaha finds himself in the same situation.
13. Palace haven't matched his on-field ambitions, he's changed agents and he recently said he wanted to win trophies. Palace held firm on their £80m valuation last summer but that sort of asking price will be unlikely with the current Covid-19 pandemic expected to affect spending. Arsenal were interested last season - as were Everton.
9. Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish has admitted he is "not too sure" about his Aston Villa future - and that is little surprise with the hype surrounding him. Only Kevin De Bruyne made more chances across the entire Premier League season, and the Villa captain made almost a quarter of the club's scoring opportunities on his own. That sort of creativity is difficult to teach, which is something clearly not lost on long-term suitors Manchester United, who appear to be leading the chase for his signature.
17. Although he has spent the season largely cutting in from the Villa left flank, it appears there could be a Grealish-shaped hole on the right of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's front three; after a bright start, summer recruit Dan James' form has faded, while Mason Greenwood's future could be more central.

8. Kalidou Koulibaly

False peaks have long been found on the path to signing Napoli's man-mountain Kalidou Koulibaly, dubbed 'K2', but the stubborn Italian club are set to make the world's most sought-after defender available if they finalise a big-money deal for Lille forward Victor Osimhen.
Liverpool's strict transfer policy prohibits them spending more than £60m on a 29-year-old. But Manchester City, equipped financially and untethered from a Champions League ban, could ditch their usual age-profile and begin an ascent.
Nathan Ake would be cheaper, but the authority, speed and experience of Senegal captain Koulibaly makes him an ideal partner to Aymeric Laporte, and Pep Guardiola's long-awaited replacement for Vincent Kompany.

5. Sadio Mane

This man is phenomenal. He has speed. He has dribbling. He has evasion techniques. He is young. He is very marketable. He can shoot well. He isn't goal shy and he is very understandable. 17 goals and 9 assists wasn't that bad for him. At least he has won the EPL with Liverpool.

3. Marcus Rashsford

On 16th of July 2020, he scored his 17th Premier League goal of the season in a 2–0 victory against Crystal Palace, equaling his tally in the two previous seasons combined.
Rashford was voted third for the English FWA Footballer of the Year award. This 22 year old deserves it. He has been carrying the striking burden at Manchester United for a while now afterall.

Due to football’s popularity globally, soccer players enjoy fame across the globe — especially those plying their trade in the major leagues. But the recognition the players get isn’t always balanced; while some get the due commendation for their efforts, others just don’t get enough credit for what they do — they work their socks off yet do not get the praise they deserved.

10. Keylor Navas

The 33-year-old never got the credit he deserved during his time at the Bernabeu as he helped Real to three consecutive Champions League titles.

At PSG, the trend has continued so far, as Navas’ performances between the sticks are often overshadowed by the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe. The Costa Rican had the best goalkeeping record in this season’s Champions League group stage ahead of the likes Ter Stegen, Manuel Neuer, and Allison as he kept four clean sheets in 5 matches and conceded just 2 goals.

6. PAPU GOMEZ

“Papu Gomez,” is the captain of Serie A side Atalanta. Atalanta have been punching above their weight since the beginning of last season as they reached the Coppa Italia final last term and also shockingly qualified for the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history. The Bergamo-based club not only got past the group stage in their first-ever Champions League appearance this season but have also qualified for the quarterfinals having destroyed Valencia 8-4 on aggregate in the round of 16.
