Glock22: Ohh I understand. About the permit application, is it a submit everything at once thing or a step by step process? Because this proof of funds issue is still touch and go at the moment. If it's feasible to just get in the application first and kind of sort things out along the way? |

Glock22: So they just replied the first web form I sent on Monday, in that web form I just told them I got admission for this fall and I want to apply for a study permit but I have an ongoing sponsorship application. They replied "We acknowledge receipt of the documents and wish to inform you that they have been added to the file. Please note, for technical reasons, they may not be visible in your online account. Rest assured that your supporting documents are indeed added and available for officer review. · If your enquiry was solely to provide documents, please note this is the only response you will receive. · If your enquiry included additional questions in addition to the documents, they will be addressed separately, as soon as possible." I'm not sure what documents they're referring to, I didn't submit anything. Hopefully they send another email. But right now I'm checking for all the things I need to submit a study permit application, and just start on that. |

Glock22: That's the thing, the admission is only valid for this fall. And its a nursing program, the bsn programs always start in the fall. I considered going through the practical nursing route that starts in winter but all the colleges i checked don't accept intl students. |

Hello everyone, So a little backstory, my sister, brother and my mother are already permanent residents of canada and my mum submitted a sponsorship application for me and my dad. This was in 2020, there was the pandemic so they didn't start processing it till 2021. Around July or August 2022 we sent a webform to IRCC because we weren't receiving any updates(it was a paper application), we called IRCC but they just kept saying its still in process. September 15 2022, me and my dad got an email to do medicals, and then a week or so later we got another email to submit some additional documents(police report, proof of relationship, educational certificates). In this same email they said, "You have 30 days from the date of this letter to submit additional information so that we may continue processing your application. Please note this will be the ONLY opportunity we will provide for you to submit additional evidence. Your application will be assessed in 30 days and the final decision will be based on the evidence on file at that time. If you choose not to respond with additional information, a decision will be made based on the information on file, which may result in the refusal of your application". We submitted everything. When i saw that they had requested for medicals and decision will be made in 30 days i was like okay i can even start preparing to move here so i applied to some schools, and mind you when i was applying i wasn't thinking about it from an international students perspective (although i did apply as an intl student hoping to change status soon) so i didn't exactly go for the cheapest school, domestic fee was like $7k so it wasn't bad. I got admission to one of the schools for fall 2023 in February, but the matter of study permit didn't come up because everyone was thinking oh there's still time. We tried checking the application status online but it wouldn't login, up until about 3 weeks ago when my brother randomly tried and it worked, okay o now we have access. The last thing that was written there "Medical results have been received", nothing about the other documents we submitted. Now May is almost over, webforms have been sent, still no word. Now we're thinking of going the study permit route but the international fee for this school is $32k, plus the $10k that is required, i didn't even bother converting to naira to see what it is, cause i don't know where the money will come from. I only found out about the GCMS notes last week and i told my sister to request for it, apparently it takes a month, anyway its not like we can do anything else but wait. I'm just holding onto the hope that God can make a lot of things happen between now and when i have to enroll. I'm not sure what advice i'm seeking but any would be appreciated, especially if anyone has been in this type of situation before. Thanks. |
