Its true that its not everywhere that train gets to but the cabs are supplimentary to the main public transport system, the train. Am not saying compulsorily the govt should bring in trains. All am saying is other measures of public transport should be made available cos my believe is that this new project is good but might not be affordable by the poor who need the public transportation the most but will rather benefit the rich.

You have not made any sense in your contributions either, make you point clear to the public.

lagos is currently working on a light rail/surface rail project. as time goes on i see it all coming together to form something more effective. as i would expect that the rail system would be expanded sooner than expected.

My people, i know there will come a day that we will all realise that, developed countries initiate project based on the needs of the people. Nigeria of today does not need this kind of project especially Lagos. This kind of project will neva be affordable for the average man of lagos state. Where people cannot afford in some cases to pay for public transportation we are initiating personalized project such as this, it wont help the poor but only the rich, imagine the cost of boarding a cab compared to taking a public transport. Same is applicable here in New york where i reside, its cheaper to commute on train than to commute on cab.

What am saying in a naught shell is, the govt would have taken time to develop the public transport system rather than this kind of project. The lagos state had tried this kind of project many times in partnership with private company and it has not improved the situations of the poor people.

Lets ruminate again please.

i understand your point, but even in New york. its not everywhere trains or public transport gets u to.

This also shows that it is not necessary to comment when you dont know about issues - of course they are all fitted with GPS trackers, meters, navigators same as you see in developed countries - you need to research very well b4 making contributions.

Stunard! sad did u read the part that shows my comment was refering to the cabs we have in lagos as we know it? the yellow ones with 2 black stripes on it. those are the ones im referring to. funny how you are quick to jump on peoples comments yet urs makes me wonder if you did ur research and read others comments b4 u responded to them.

NCC is meant to be under her ministry either directly or indirectly. if it is and she is making all this noise, then i advice she STFU and get her house in order.
Politics / Re: Fashola Commissions 1,200 Cabs. Pictures by mustafar1: 4:35pm On May 28, 2009
the cabs would be well maintained.(hopefully our roads cooperate) i saw a few from the pilot trial back in december. i think the next thing the government should do is, work with the already existing yellow cab owners in lagos on how they could be intergrated into this setup. maibe work on how to make them come together, raise their standard (fitted with meters/GPS/rates should apply) and the likes.

Kobojunkie:

How many people get money to fly for Nigeria sef?

Kobo at this point that question is not enought to convince or prove beyond reasonable doubt that unlimited airports is not wat we need or that everyone building an airport is the best thing we need. i say let all states build airports(if they llike they can build more than one sef). let the laws of supply and demand render the weak airports useless. that was you wont get accused of being anti-development in any state. but by then it might be the detractors of the state that made airlines/passengers to only fly from specific states and ignore other states airports. grin grin

at this point, i pray all the states in nigeria build airport, let the laws of survival of the fittest determine which one would get traffic and be profitable on the long run and which would be overground with weed, and which one we'll use its runway to dry grains and the likes. sad sad
Politics / Re: Three Illegal Varsities Shut In Anambra by mustafar1: 10:18pm On May 22, 2009
how else does one get admission into the university in nigeria? if the students gained admission into a 'university' without going through jamb then i guess they really dont have a case either against, JAMB, NUC and whoever else. and they sure dont have to listen to their cry.

Try Baking it in the oven. it would come out evenly cooked and it sure wont be burned at the bottom like if cooked over flame.

$osisi:

Exactly
If JAMB listed the schools on their list and people applied to them and got in even with the horrendous names
The students ought to be reassigned to other schools
It's not their fault
The Director of JAMB and his top officers ought to be questioned.

the students cant be reassigned to other schools because the school are not controlled by jamb. how is the school they are reassigned to determined even if they can reassign them. this is between the NUC(who is currently playing hero) and JAMB. they messed up and they intend to use the schools and their officials as scapecows.

What tribal lens?. These kids were not duped for sure because they knew the school was not accredited unless the school was accredited before they got admission. How is that tribal lens?

Aloy

they got the information about the school from the Jamb brochure. NUC and JAMB suppose know how the school names take enter jamb brochure now?

Some of the students who spoke with reporters alleged that they pay between N84,000 to N120,000 per session, lamenting that the NUC should find a way of reabsorbing them into the approved universities for them to continue their studies.

typical. you cant  legalise illegal act.

i think the NUC and JAMB should ask themselves questions. my first post on this thread asked some of them. i really do not think the students need to be integrated into approve universities though. worse they should get is refunds and something extra for compensation
Politics / Re: Three Illegal Varsities Shut In Anambra by mustafar1: 9:38pm On May 22, 2009
why una dey rubbish the school name now? those who attend the school would be called ROYALITES. its just like applying to a school called, JUJU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE grin grin
Politics / Re: Three Illegal Varsities Shut In Anambra by mustafar1: 9:16pm On May 22, 2009
how on earth were they able to have their names included in Jamb brochures for potential students to have them as a choice. should retarded NUC be ashamed that they dont coordinate with Jamb to effectively advice jamb on what schools should exist and schools shouldnt.  and they think they have done a good job by closing them down.

and hwats all this affiliate this, affiliate that? dem don turn establishing of university to franchise again. i think say na only fast food joint and the likes dey go the franchise route.
Politics / Re: South Korea's Abandoned Airports: A Warning To Nigerian State Governors by mustafar1: 7:43pm On May 22, 2009
Business plan for nigerian government. issue airport permits to nigerians for a fee, the nation would generate some serious revenue from that since everyone wants an airport with 15 minutes driving distance from their mansions. in this case granting permits would even save them the 15 minutes cos they can build their houses on their airport premises or build airports in their houses. whatever sinks their boat.
Politics / Re: South Korea's Abandoned Airports: A Warning To Nigerian State Governors by mustafar1: 5:18pm On May 22, 2009
a state having 10 airports would not attract investors if the roads leading to the airport gives more turbulence than that which is experienced during the flight itself.
Politics / Re: Nairalander:how Can We Move Nigeria Forward.your Opinion. by mustafar1: 2:48pm On May 22, 2009
its impossible to go the millitant route (whether effective or not) and not have innocent casualty, and once innocent by standers start getting maimed/killed, the focus would shift from the reasons for the millitant actions to the innocent loses. the reason the niger delta millitants wont get what they want is because of the kidnappings of innocents and ransom collections they have engaged in thus far.
Politics / Re: Nairalander:how Can We Move Nigeria Forward.your Opinion. by mustafar1: 2:37pm On May 22, 2009
Millitancy. i dreamed about it for a minute. but like everything else, they'll just add another insulating layer around themselves and become even more unresponsive.

larez:

It is funny reading how Nigerians argue. Y'all like to fight ohh. Meanwhile, are you aware that Enugu Airport was recently sold to a Chinese dude? The other Airport that the Chinese Dude bought was an unused airfield in Eastern Germany with some facility for assembly. Difference between buying Enugu Airport was that it was basically given to him for free. They may talk about concessions and stuff, but dude is yet to build any roads or whatever.

The Chinese guy's main rationale is to use the Eastern Germany unused military airfield and a way-point from China for refueling and assembling some Chinese products so they can stick Made in Germany on them. Enugu will hence become a distribution point for the rest of Sub-Saharan Africa.

If you are thinking what I am thinking, then you may wonder if the rush to build these airports is to give them away and be paid under the table while Nigeria is fleeced for the costs of the airports. I personally think the Lekki Airport is legitimate because of the Lekki free trade zone and the expected activities that will result from it. It is also wise because most Nigerians who can afford to fly are based in Lekki/Victoria Island/Ikoyi. Moving the main Airport hub to that area may help reduce traffic through the rest of Lagos.

Not if they know you're telling on them, letting the corrupt party know you're on to them defeats the whole effort, and the reward doesn't need to be a title, something others will be wandering how the hell did you get that, maybe money, everyone like to be rewarded for doing something good.

i dont understand your point. it might not necessarily be the thieving individuals that would call u names. most times its ur next door neighbour who attended the thieving politicians lavish party the weekend before and thinks the politician is the next best thing after sliced bread.

not everyone does good to get rewarded. if i am able to capture on film/camera any politician doing something illegal, immoral. if i have evidence linking him to illegal/suspect wire transfers, be sure i would throw him right under the bus and even pay out of pocket the good samaritan that would back the bus up over him/her a few times. even if na FASHOLA! angry CALL IT COMMUNITY SERVICE grin
