A lot of people just like to talk trash about their country once they get out.
What have you done for Nigeria?
Aren't you encouraging corruption as well?
In traffic do you practice right of way? You'd rather curse the man in front of you for allowing traffic on the left.
Same people flagrantly disobeying the laws in Nigeria but will become incredibly obedient whilst abroad. Although some of them are goats still, they go abroad with their filth and disobedience. Just saying.. God bless Nigeria

PS: There are filthy areas everywhere, even in the states you have Ajegunle. It's good to admire the system that works but learn to encourage and make your country better as well. It starts with you!

GTB won't process 950GBP.
Use a FirstBank card or process a Form A.

drunkenmaster:
Hi house, in a present predicament. I need to pay the fees for my student visa and it will cost 950 pounds. Which bank card can I use? Anyone here used GTB?

Get an EE sim (10GBP plan)and a Tesco International call card. Even better when you download their app on the phone.
I think the only reason why most people use Lyca and Lebara is because they want to make international calls.

Anyways, best of luck mate.

00francis:
Hello Everyone!

I have been a silent follower of the thread...I read all parts and even the sister thread on survival in the UK before my application, and I can't thank you all enough for the great wealth of information you have all shared.

I applied on the 14th of September, made sure I called my bank(Skye) before paying for it visa fees to avoid any hiccups, and it went smoothly on the first attempt. I booked for interview on the 16th at Abuja VAC. when I got there a lot of guys haggling at the entrance telling me my passport was the wrong one...instinctively I ignored. To large extent the interview went smoothly, only struggled because I mentioned I might transport myself to school using a bicycle and I was asked how much the bike will cost...I didn't know. I also struggled to answer the timeline between my school application and response.

I got my decision mail on the 28th(6 working days if u remove the public holidays).

When booking for flights please go direct to the airline's website. I got an Air France return ticket from PHC for (204,338) $1021...from Lagos its $939. I traveled on the 4th of October(night flight) and arrived Cranfield on the 5th.

The schedule here in Cranfield has been crazy... 9-5pm daily...the cold on Thursday was something else and we're not in winter yet.

I had some free time yesterday and so I went down to the post office at Milton Keynes to pickup my BRP...I was told it was not there and they gave me a form to contact UKVI...anyone here had a similar thing? I'll like to know how it was resolved.

Oh yeah thanks to this online community I was able to contact someone here who accommodated me in his room for 3 days for free until I got my own accommodation yesterday... I would have lost some good cash paying for a hotel so thank you all.

I've got lyca and lebara...I need advice on which one to actually use and how to activate the plan.

Once again thank you all so very much.

Got to Aberdeen today.
Came through AirFrance, connected via Paris.

No fuss at immigration.
They asked for my admission letter, asked about who is sponsoring my tuition and stamped. They were nice! The taxi driver was also very nice.
I got a Taxi and left for the city center. BRP wasn't ready though.

In other news, folks in Aberdeen, RGU or Uni of Aberdeen; How did you get accommodation? Not talking school accommodation.
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 3 by muteEcho: 6:00am On Sep 18, 2015
@creamyworkz, Hi.
It shouldn't. Your sponsor(RGU) is a licensed UK HEI. They can assert you English proficiency.

creamyworkz:

i have a place on a course in the same school and i am still awaiting decision on my visa application, but i wasnt required to undergo any english language test, all they requested for was waec certificate and my degree certificate i hope it wont affect decision on my visa application

Hi Mates.

Another silent follower.
You guys are doing an amazing job.
I basically read through the forum and I got a hang of exactly what to do and how to do it. I also went through the UKVI's Tier 4-PBS document.

I picked up my Visa yesterday(Monday), it's been ready since Friday though.
Had my interview on the 2nd of September at the VAC Ikeja. Give or take, it took 7 working days.
I'm heading to Robert Gordon Uni. Aberdeen.

So about the application process.
I obviously applied to the school, got admission, paid tuition and got CAS. For the CAS though, RGU made payment of IHS and IELTS mandatory. So I initially made payment for IHS, but I processed a refund which I got within two weeks of initiating the process.
My IELTS was alright too. Speaking: 7.5; Writing:6.5; Reading:7.0;Listening:8.5; Overall band score:7.5.
I actually got my CAS before my IELTS was out, I gave them an expired TOEFL result (108/120) and my WAEC result showing my English result, so they processed my CAS with that, plus the school is HEI. But they asked for my IELTS when I got to the VAC and good enough, I had it with me.

I did my TB test at IOM, Ikeja. Its pretty straight forward! Call them to book an appointment and go for your appointment. PS: The guys at IOM(Ikeja) are very nice people! Very cultured.
Anyways, I think I'll just list out what I submitted. Sorry for the plenty story grin cheesy wink

Documents Submitted

Bank Statement (Use Oanda.com as your exchange peg. Don't forget currency variation!) But if you start counting your 28 days and you find out you didn't put enough money in your account before your started the 28 days count, simply make additional tuition payment(if you made part payment though) and have your school update your CAS to reflect the new paid tuition. I highlighted when the funding in my account started and when it ended.

CAS Letter

TB Test Result

IELTS Result

Oanda Print out (The didn't return my Oanda Print out but returned my bank statement, so yea! they actually use it)

Visa Application Printout

Bsc Certificate

I also labelled accordingly: Appendix A - D.

PS: Just pay attention to certain details and read this forum well well and you'll be fine. Please don't forget UKVI's website oh! They change immigration law more than a woman changes her own mood. cheesy
