Jobs/Vacancies / Presidency Employed 200,000 Nigerians At Once by NAIJACUBEZ: 2:24am On Jan 27, 2018
The Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, has boasted that no government in the history of Nigeria was able to employ over 200,000 graduates at once.

Osinbajo said the Muhammadu Buhari-led government was able to break the jinx through its empowerment scheme, as N-Power.

The VP made these remarks during a media chat on the last day of his participation at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Below was his conversation:

Last week, the Niger Delta Avengers said they would resume attacks within days, has there been any contact with the government and the Avengers?

Vice President: Let me say that we are in constant consultations with all of the groups in the Niger Delta, but more importantly, we are working on all of the issues that we agreed with PANDEF. We are engaged with the groups; we have opened the Maritime University, we are working hard on the Modular Refineries which we hope will be a replacement for some of the illegal refineries and also create opportunities in the Niger Delta. We are in constant consultations, there are many groups in the Niger Delta, including the Niger Delta Avengers, and we are in constant consultations.

You have been in several bilateral meetings. What has been the major highlight(s) for Nigeria to take home?
Vice President: I think the major thing is collaboration, which is really where everybody is at. The world has become a much more interconnected place. There is really little that is being done in Nigeria that doesn’t have some kind of either regional or global impact in the world. A lot of what we are talking about is collaboration; economic collaboration, collaboration against terrorism and all manners of extremist behaviours. That is what I am taking away.

There have been talks about collaborations in the past, have you secured any concrete cooperation in this regard?
Vice President: You don’t sign agreements here; all you can do is what I have said. Talk about what can be done, in what areas we can cooperate, what are the best and easiest ways of working together. You can’t wait to sign conventions; the world is moving far too quickly, the issues are so dynamic.

The US has said it would welcome a weaker dollar, what would be Nigeria’s response to that?
Vice President: We are naturally concerned about currency issues everywhere, but a weaker dollar does not necessarily hurt us (Nigeria). We are concerned most about ensuring our exports are cheaper. Our concern is how to make ourselves competitive with our foreign exchange. So we have to deal with our own currency issues, ensure our currency is stable and adequate to meet with the challenges posed to us at this time. We are more concerned about sorting ourselves out and remaining competitive.

What is government’s position on allowing the Naira to flow freely?
Vice President: The issue for us is in ensuring that the currency is stable. What the NAFEX (Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange) window does is, more or less, to provide an opportunity for the Naira to have its real value against the dollar. In some senses, we are there. What works today is some sort of intervention; you can’t just open up and say, let things go the way they want. You just mentioned that the US would like to see a weaker dollar, so obviously there is intervention somewhere. We want the market to dictate as much as possible, but where we find that there may be complications, we are ready to intervene.

The security situation in Nigeria is a huge concern, isn’t this a deterrent for global investors?
Vice President: Global investors are coming. As a matter of fact, we are doing much better than ever before. If you look at the difference between Q1 of 2017 and now, there is a lift from $908million to $4.1 billion. There is no deterrent. I think that global investors understand that there are security challenges everywhere and that so long as you are able to provide enough grounds for people to believe that, by and large, there is safety. Look at what is going on elsewhere in the world, security is a challenge everywhere. The duty of government is to ensure that security is maintained as robustly as possible.

Sometimes by the very nature of security concerns, if something is happening in the Delta or up North somewhere, it really does provide a challenge for security agencies, but it is an opportunity to beef up security. We are recruiting policemen, we are even trying to build up the army and recruit more people into the army. For instance, if you look at what happened during the clashes in Southern Kaduna, we had to locate a military formation there. We may have to do that in several other places, locating military formations where we find communal violence. Security is dynamic; you have to keep working at it.

Someone mentioned that Nigeria is politically and economically stable, do you agree with that?
Vice President: I think so. The economy is certainly in much more better state than it was 2 years ago and even 4 years ago. Our reserves are at $40 billion, the highest it has been in 4 years. Our capital market is set to be the best performing in the world. We have moved up 24 places in the ease of doing business, agriculture is up by over 3%. We are becoming a net producer of rice, 7 million to 11 million tonnes of paddy which has never happened before. We will be self-sufficient in rice production. Investments are also coming in, so economically; I would say that we are doing very well. The critical thing is that the man on the streets must feel the impact, which sometimes takes a while, because when you are talking about growth, there must be jobs, but growth doesn’t immediately translate to jobs.

What we are trying to do is to establish a system of governance that first of all, emphasises prudence in financial spending, which is what we had in mind to do with the TSA and with the general controls in spending. So we are earning 60% less than what was earned in 2014, but we are spending N1.3 trillion on capital expenditure, the highest in the history of the country, with 60% less revenue.

Education / Education Minister Dismisses Evolution Theory by NAIJACUBEZ: 1:18am On Jan 24, 2018
India’s minister for higher education has been condemned by scientists for demanding that the theory of evolution be removed from school curricula because no one “ever saw an ape turning into a human being”.

Satyapal Singh stood by his comments on Monday, saying his ministry was ready to host an international conference at which “scientists can come out and say where they stand on the issue”.

“I have a list of around 10 to 15 great scientists of the world who have said there is no evidence to prove that the theory of evolution is correct,” Singh told a crowd at a university in Assam state, adding that Albert Einstein had agreed the theory was “unscientific”.

Singh, who has a postgraduate degree in chemistry from Delhi University, said he was speaking as a “man of science”.

“Darwin’s theory is scientifically wrong,” he said at the weekend. “It needs to change in the school and college curriculum.

“Since man is seen on Earth, he has always been a man. Nobody, including our ancestors, in written or oral, said they ever saw an ape turning into a human being.”

More than 2,000 Indian scientists have signed a petition in response calling Singh’s remarks simplistic, misleading and lacking in any scientific basis.

“It is factually incorrect to state that the evolutionary principle has been rejected by the scientific community,” the statement said. “On the contrary, every new discovery adds support to Darwin’s insights. There is plentiful and undeniable scientific evidence to the fact that humans and the other great apes and monkeys had a common ancestor.”

Education / How To Pass Exam Excelently by NAIJACUBEZ: 1:17am On Jan 22, 2018
Start studying early. Give yourself more than enough time to review the material that was covered in class. You might want to gauge how soon to start studying by how much material you need to review. For instance, if you have to review material for an entire semester, you might want to start studying a few weeks prior. However, if you are just taking a test that covers material over a few chapters, a week prior or even three to four days may be sufficient.[1]
Only you know how long it takes you to study, so you are the best judge of when to start studying.
If the class material is especially difficult for you. Start studying early. Give yourself enough time to truly grasp the material, practice it and then review it.
Get a full night’s sleep before the exam. Your brain needs time to subconsciously digest everything you’ve put into it, so start early so you don’t have to stay up all night.[2]
Image titled Prepare for an Exam Step 2
2
Read through the entirety of your notes that will be on the exam. It will refresh your memory of the material and help you remember what you learned. It will also help to make you aware of all the information in your notes, where it is located in your notes so that you know where to find them, and what might be missing from your notes. Decide if you think your notes are sufficient enough to study from. Did you miss any classes? Are some of your notes missing? If so, you might need to borrow someone else’s notes.
3
Get some good notes. If you’re not a good note taker, or if there are “holes” in your notes, then ask a friend if you can copy his or her notes. Good notes can make all the difference when you’re studying. They can explain content that the book doesn’t explain well or highlight information and make it easier to understand and remember.
If you only have five pages pf notes, but your friend has twenty, then you probably missed some important information. Compare your notes to your friend’s to see where the holes are in your notes.
Image titled Prepare for an Exam Step 4
4
Ask your teacher about the test material. One of the easiest ways to begin your studying process is to find out what is on the test directly from your teacher. Many teachers will provide some guidance on what will and will not be covered on the test. Knowing which material the test will cover will help you focus on the main material that you need to study.
Your teacher most likely won't tell you exactly what is on the test, but he or she might give you some pointers by handing you a study guide, or simply announcing what the exam will cover. [3]

Part 2
Reviewing the Information

Image titled Prepare for an Exam Step 5
1
Re-read your notes. This time re-read your notes for understanding. In other words, you are going to study your notes. Start with the most basic information. So, if you’re studying an art history unit on impressionism, make sure you know what impressionism means. Who were the most famous impressionists at the time?
Ask yourself, who, what, where, when for each theme/subject matter that you are supposed to know for the test.
You can look up information online to study from, but the best information to study from is the information presented to the class because the answers will be derived from your classroom materials. Sometimes information on the internet can vary from the information that you are presented in class.
If you are planning to study from information provided on the internet, stick with sources that end with .edu or .gov.
Image titled Prepare for an Exam Step 6
2
Take notes while you study. Yes, take even more notes. You can highlight and underline the information as well, but writing the information down really helps you retain it better. Make sure to write down concepts that you are struggling with or are having a hard time remembering.[4]
Break down complex subjects into steps or parts. For instance, if you are trying to learn the order of historical events, list out each event that happened in the order they happened. For instance, first Linus Pauling discovered DNA, then he was awarded a prize. Write down the time frame and the events that influenced each happening. Knowing these side notes should help you to recall information because they increase your level of understanding.

The Nasarawa State government has suspended a principal and three teachers following the viral video which sparked controversy showing female students of Government Science Secondary School, Nassarawa-Eggon being flogged.
Recall that Nollywood actress and filmmaker, Funke Akindele, had strongly condemned the flogging of the students, calling for sack of the teachers involved.
The State Commissioner of Education, Mr. Tijjani Ahmed confirming the school officials’ suspension told newsmen in the state that the suspension was meted out following ban of flogging in public schools across the 13 local government areas and 18 development areas of the state.

Celebrities / Why We Put Up Our Mansion For Sale – Paul Okoye Reveals by NAIJACUBEZ: 4:17am On Dec 16, 2017
Paul Okoye of the dissolved P’Square group, has finally disclosed the reason why himself and his brother, Jude Okoye, put up their Squareville mansion located in Omole Estate for sale.

Back in September, the brothers had put the mansion up for sale and the agent is aiming to sell the building which has a swimming pool, basement and other exotic features for 320 Million Naira.

Speaking with STV, Paul listed why they were selling off the house.

He said, “It is a normal thing. I and Jude own squareville, so we decided to sell it. We had already fixed it up as our office and studio and one side for our signed artist.

“When we moved into Ikoyi, going down to Omole became too stressful. Before now, we were okay with the house on the mainland because we had no kids nor family then.

“Now we have our families and going through the third mainland everyday was stressful.

“So, we just decided to sell it while we are making plans to buy somewhere on the Island, preferrably Lekki which is close to us, not the one that the house is on the mainland and when we have to go there, we would be checking the traffic situation.”

A middle aged man, Yahaya Umar was yesterday sentenced to 14 years imprisonment by a Borno State High Court for raping a 13-year-old Hajja Ibrahim, an Internally Displaced Person (IDP).

According to the charge read by the clerk of the court, the convict, Yahaya Umar lured the victim from Abaganaram IDPs camp in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, to one Rainbow Hotel in same Maiduguri city and had forceful sexual intercourse with her.

The charge reads, “That you Yahaya Umar (male), on or about 21st September 2016 at about 1900 hours at railway quarters Maiduguri , within the jurisdiction of this honourable court committed rape on one Hajja Ibrahim of IDPs camp Abaganaram primary school , in that you forcefully had sexual intercourse with her and you thereby committed an offence punishable under section 283 of the penal code laws of Borno State.”

In order to prove its case, the prosecution brought five witnesses to testify and some exhibits were tendered in evidence.

Counsel for the defence equally called the accused to testify for his defence. Both counsels waived their rights to address the court. All the testimonies of witnesses as well as the defence were examined by the trial Judge, Justice Alkali Wakkil Gana.

In his ruling after the testimonies, Justice Gana found the accused guilty of the offence and sentenced him to 14 years imprisonment.

Justice Gana said, “I believe the testimonies of the prosecution witnesses. They impressed me as witness of truth. Accused person in his defence stated that the victim wanted a place to stay hence he took her to his house and harboured her until the following day.

“You can tell this type of information to the marines. It is a matter of common knowledge that there is curfew in Maiduguri and everybody is expected to be at home before 10pm.

“The court is at loss why the accused person should carry the young girl to his house. He is not a truthful witness. I have watched his demeanor in the witness box. He did not impress me as witness of truth.”

I disbelieve his testimony.”

The Judge said the court was of the opinion that the prosecution has proved its case beyond any iota of doubt.

“I find him guilty as charged and hereby proceed to convict him. Predators of minors should beware, they do not deserve any clemency. The convict has committed a heinous crime. He does not deserve any sympathy knowing the conditions the IDPs are going through. Only the devil can commit such atrocity.

“Parents and guardians should desist from compromising or condoning any abuse against their wards. He is sentenced to maximum prison term of 14 years with hard labour,” Justice Alkali Wakkil Gana ruled.

However, earlier before the conviction, the court had directed law enforcement agencies to watch activities of hoteliers in Maiduguri, saying that a witness has disclosed that Rainbow Hotel is a hub of rapists, and that young girls are being patronised.

Romance / Endless Tears (love, seperation And Sex) Episode 11_20 by NAIJACUBEZ: 12:46am On Dec 08, 2017
She took me through a narrow passage in

silence, and as we walked, it occurred to me

that the girl would be a staff. Still in the narrow

passage, we passed by two doors which faced

each other and took three steps further before

the girl stopped in front of a door which she

opened. There was also a door facing the door

she opened but I disregarded it and followed

her inside.

A mattress was on the floor, enough to fit one

person comfortably. There was a small table

beside it, and a big box lay at the far end of

the room, by the wall.

The girl smiled, and then frowned. “Oh, forgive

my manners, I am Tina” she said. “I am the

cook, even though I look small, my food is

always very sweet, you could eat your tongue”

she boasted with a grin. “My room is opposite

yours. You would meet another girl, Tola, she

is the cleaner. She went out to get some

things. I am sure you are Amara” she ranted.

I was feeling awkward because something

seemed very wrong and out of place. I nodded

stiffly. “Yes. Amara” I responded. “Where is

corper… I mean, Mr erm.. Alex. Where is his

room? Does he stay in one of the rooms we

passed?”

The girl laughed. “Of course not. His room is

upstairs” she leaned forward to whisper. “It is

a very massive room. This place is not as big

as his toilet” she grinned. “This is where the

staff stays”.

What? What the hell is going on? Before I

could voice my panic and question, we heard a

car horn and the girl startled. “The boss is

here, I have to go and serve his food. He

asked me not to talk to you, please don’t tell

him I said anything, if he asks.” With that, she

vanished.

I stood, still reeling from the implications of

what I had just heard. Am I to stay with the

staff in my own husband’s house? It can’t be

real. The drama just never seemed to end. I

don’t know how long I stayed there, at the

middle of the room, but suddenly, the door

opened and I spun round to see corper Bello

crowding the entrance. He entered and closed

the door behind him.

“I see you are fully settled” he said with clear

indifference. “Well, since you have obviously

pushed your way into my life, let me lay down

the rules and regulations. You are in this house

as maid and not a wife. Don’t ever mention it

to anyone that we signed a marriage contract,

or worse, that you are carrying something of

mine in your tummy” he said with obvious

disgust. “Everyone here has been informed that

you are the new staff employee, and that is

what you would be in this place. You would

join Tola in doing the cleaning and other house

chores. Never interfere with my food because I

won’t want to contact cholera or food

poisoning. You would be given the staff

uniform, so you don’t have to go around in

your pathetic clothes. Do you understand me?”

I stared dumbfounded. He seriously did not

mean all he just said, did he? “You expect me

to work as a maid in my husband’s house?”

His eyes flashed with fury. “First of all, you are

not my wife. Even though we signed a bunch

of miserable papers, you can never be my

wife. Secondly, you should be glad that I

dignified you with a maid’s position. You either

do this or leave. You chose to marry me,

whatever you see is of your making, not mine”

he growled out.

I swallowed. “What did I ever do to you? What

is my crime Corper?” I breathed.

“You got pregnant. That is your crime” he

turned to leave then stopped. “And while you

are here, you should never call me Corper, you

call me boss” he opened the door and left.

What happened next?

Endless Tears Episode 12

One week passed and the idea of being a

maid in my husband’s house was still like a

bomb. Each passing day added to my shock

and dismay at this display of impunity. I have

never felt more like garbage like I did now,

having to work with the maids in the house.

Ever since Corper walked out of my room, I

hadn’t set my eyes on him. I was careful to

ensure that we never happened to be in the

same place together. My hatred for him grew

with each passing day, but my love for him

was not eliminated either. I still could not

understand why thoughts of him still plagued

my dreams. Every time, I entertained the hope

that he would change and love me the way he

professed in the village. Unfortunately, there

was no indication that this would ever happen.

My pale state and vomiting had made it known

almost immediately I arrived that I was

pregnant.

Batch B Corp members who
served in Edo state and passed out November 2, have been crying to the government for solution to their unpaid October and November
allowances with their bicycle allowance (a sum of #41,100) which is supposed to have been
paid before they passed out last month but hasn't been resolved till now.

When investigated, it was made known that some of the Corp
members were paid *3 of the amount they were supposed to be paid while a very good number of
them have not been paid at all. They have waited and done so many things but nothing visible has been done to salvage their situation.

The frustrated ex corp members can no longer hold it as most of them are stranded and can not travel back to their various homes. This is an excruciating pain in the hearts of the Nigerian graduates who have served their father land, all to be repayed with such a lovely gesture, that has left an ugly scene in the hearts of the affected.

Romance / Endless Tears Episode 1- 10 by NAIJACUBEZ: 9:12pm On Nov 26, 2017
Endless Tears Episode 1
Never have I fathomed in the four corners of
my little mind that I would be derailed from
my goals. My eyes have always been fixed on
that glorious spot. I always spied my
neighbour’s television just to be able to listen
to the news, see beautiful people and aspire to
be like them, but everything changed all of a
sudden. My focus was diverted, my brain was
hacked by a stronger device and I was left
with only one thing to drive my every action –
my emotions. Corper Bello appeared and he
became the driver of my every action, because
he held the key to my heart……
My legs dragged sluggishly on the fanciful
Abuja road as I forced myself to keep the pace
my parents were setting. We have spent three
days here in Abuja, doing only one thing –
searching for Corper Alex Bello. I can’t believe
all that is happening and waking up from this
nightmare seems practically impossible. My
legs throbbed and my waists seemed strained
from excessive walking. Every pedestrian I saw
was gaily dressed, looking like the ones I saw
on television. Even though this was my first
time out of the confines of my little village, I
was not enjoying myself, simply because there
is nothing to enjoy.
“Move faster pregnant woman and stop
dragging your foot on the floor.” Dad snapped.
People walking past turned round to stare at
me but I kept my head bowed as shame
overtook me again. Yes, I am pregnant for
Corper Bello. Dad never stops reminding me,
like I can ever forget. How can I forget the
news that trauncated my dreams and brought
shame to my face?
“You this useless thing, when you knew you
could not handle the rigors of pregnancy, why
did you spread your legs wide like a satellite
dish?”
Stung, I blinked back tears and walked on with
my head bowed. Thoughts vacated my head
as I walked lifelessly behind my parents.
“Ahn Ahn, Nnayi” my mum murmured
defensively.
“You better shut up woman” Dad countered.
“Look at you, like mother like daughter.” He
hissed. “You better pray we find the useless
guy that impregnated your daughter today, if
not, you both would leave my house.” He
hissed again facing me. “I wonder where you
got your waywardness; it is definitely from your
mother’s family because we don’t have sluts in
my family.” he said emphatically.
Pain sliced through me like a million knives. I
had gone from being the pride of my family to
being a shameful example in every family in
the village just by one single act. I had cried a
lot during the past few weeks but now, now all
I have is hope that this momentary pain I am
feeling is worth it. Tears burn in my eyes as I
remember my dreams,
