phuck_NL:

Unless Noah's ark was as big as the entire earth itself, this story is a MYTH. It was written by PEOPLE. Why is it so hard to believe that PEOPLE LIE.
The same people who said the earth was flat, who said there was a ladder than connected HEAVEN to the earth?
Thank God for Astronauts, we know all that was a lie.

For those who say the bible is 100% correct let them read Jeremiah 8:8

Waiting for OlaAdegbu to provide answers. grin grin

The bible is 100% true. There must be some explanation lurking somewhere shocked .

Read Jeremiah 8:8 and you will see that the bible is not 100% correct. It never was. When Jesus was quoting the scripture was 1 Corinthians scripture? Was the book of John scripture?

oluafolabi: This question is putting the bible in a very tight corner though. sad sad

1) If there is no explanation for how thousands of animal species including microorganisms stayed aboard that small ship then it could imply that the story was just a jewish myth.

2) If the story is a Jewish myth, then it implies that the bible does not contain 100% true stories.

3) If a myth such as this is in the bible, how can we prove the efficacy of other stories?

4) Did the good 'creator' create another set of animals after the flood?

I'm suspicious though.

Why would OlaAdegbu want to put himself and the 'holy book' in a tight corner like this?

undecided undecided

Jeremiah 8:8 says ' How can you say "We are wise and the law of the Lord is with us?" Look the false pen of the scribe certainly works falsehood. The bible is not 100% correct. The bible itself tells you that everything ib the bible is not the truth. Some lies have been put into the bible.

pickabeau1: That was in the old days.. We need to move on with the times

Child marriage should be condemned

The bible was written in the old days so why are you still following what you find there? Why do you give tithes? Why do you sing Abraham's blessings are mine? Why do the Jews still observe the Passover? Why do churches celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles.
My friend airplanes fly, the computer works marvels because people did not throw away what their fathers learned and discovered. Instead they built upon it. History, science , mathematics etc!!! Marrying a 14 year old virgin was part of the Jewish tradition.

You Nigerians have traditions. The Jews also have traditions. The name Masada does not appear in the bible. But it is a very important place and event in the history of the Jews. Where did that info come from?? Check the Catholic Encyclopaedia. Joseph was 90 years old when he married the Virgin Mary who was between 12 -14 years old.Check the Catholic Encyclopaedia. Whether you believe it or not, is not relevant. The fact remains that marrying a 14 year old girl is acceptable even in your great America. Go and read and find out.

I am still waiting for you to tell us Mary and Joseph age in the Bible smiley. So, you are using Catholic encyclopedia to explain the Bible smiley. People are indeed desperate

Show me in the bible where Masada is. The bible is just one library of information. Other libraries (books) give information. Have you heard of Josephus the historian, or Pliny or Constantine. Is Constantine in the bible? Yet he is a very important figure in Christendom. The bible says "My people go into captivity because of lack of knowledge. Hosea 4:6 Isaiah 5:13.

Obviously you are not following the commandments of God because the bible says "Give attention to reading, to exhortation to doctrine. 1 Timothy 4:4. If you gave attention to reading you would know that most all of Church history comes from the Catholic Encyclopeadia

Sometyms I weep cos I rly dnt know where this country is moving to, unimaginable things happening here and there. Its high tym d muslims in this country come together and condemn this unspeakable and inhumane act before it gets out of hand. People lyk yerima are animals and should be treated as such

Which unspeakable inhumane act Joseph was 90 years old when he married Virgin Mary who was 12 years old. So the founders of the Christian religion can do it and you do not castigate them.

if the Woman who gave birth to Jesus Christ was between 12-14 years old when she got married, got pregnant and delivered the Redeemer of the World what is wrong in a man in Nigeria marrying a girl of 15 years old.

The canonical gospels of Matthew and Luke describe Mary as a virgin (Greek παρθένος, parthénos).[3] Traditionally, Christians believe that she conceived her son miraculously by the agency of the Holy Spirit. Muslims believe that she conceived her son miraculously by the command of God. This took place when she was already betrothed to Saint Joseph and was awaiting the concluding rite of marriage, the formal home-taking ceremony.[4] She married Joseph and accompanied him to Bethlehem, where Jesus was born.[5] In keeping with Jewish custom, the betrothal would have taken place when she was around 12, and the birth of Jesus about a year later.[6]

Typical Islamic apologist tactic of jumping in another direction to avoid the savage and cave-man like attitude displayed by it's adherants. Where in the Bible did it say Mary was 12-14 years old? If you can't provide this answer, I will not be surprise

@ Judek2
The Catholic Encyclopedia states, “From the age at which Hebrew maidens became marriageable, it is possible that Mary gave birth to her Son when she was about thirteen or fourteen years of age. No historical document tells us how old she actually was at the time of the Nativity.”

Also, “Jewish maidens were considered marriageable at the age of twelve years and six months, though the actual age of the bride varied with circumstances. The marriage was preceded by the betrothal, after which the bride legally belonged to the bridegroom, though she did not live with him till about a year later, when the marriage used to be celebrated.”

What are all you people shouting and ranting about?? The Virgin Mary gave birth when she was aged 12-14 years. In Australia a 14 year old girl got pregnant for a 14 year old boy. Nature says a woman is ready to give birth when she starts seeing her monthly cycle. In America it islegal to marry a 14 year old girl.
Jealousy people. You ladies just dey jealous say d man no choose una to marry. ABBs people. Acquired Bad Belle Syndrome. Make I hear word jare!!!

Our Failures hold the secret to our success. Why? Because when we learn, we learn lessons that help us avoid the same sort of failure, thereby moving us steps closer to success. Failure in and of itself is not the problem with Nigeria. Failing to learn from our failures however, is. We seem stuck in a loop; we continue to make the same mistakes over, and over again, without grasping the many lessons in all this so we can propel this country forward.

grin grin grin grin
@ Kobojunkie

It is really demoralising!!!

Permit me to list some failures :- Corporate Prostitution where female graduates swarm out of banking halls in the name of marketing to receive deposits in cash and kind from lasvicious money bags. The men who send them out and those who take them in -would they accept that they are responsible for the failure in this country

Bishops who encourage laziness in their congregations,

Who is to blame for the following mistakes which we continue to make

Bauchi religious riots, Kaduna religious riots, Jos!!! When are we Nigerians going to learn from our mistakes

What can we do to make Nigeria a Better Place??

Why do people fail?

From the posts on this forum it is evident that so many Nigerians (Pastors,Reverends, politicians, the clergy, businessmen, traders, civil servants, married couples, parents, indeed most Nigerians are failures).

90% of Nigerian graduates are jobless, cash strapped, desperate failures looking for some means of coping with the realities of life in Nigeria.

Yet some of their colleagues, friends, and university course mates are landing plum jobs in the telecoms sector, in banks and in oil companies. Some have started church ministries as a means of making money to survive

The painful thing is that these class mates and other people who have landed these lucrative jobs may not even be as smart and hard working as they are.

What are these 90% of Nigerian graduates doing that is causing them to fail? Why have they not yet been employed even though their mates in banks, telecoms, oil companies and churches are happily collecting unbelievably huge, mouth watering incomes every month. Why are these people failures?

Many of these unrepentant failures are not ready to ask themselves the hard questions
(such as, “Why haven’t I succeeded yet?” " Why haven't I got a job yet?", " Why am I not married yet?"wink. Instead Some blame their parents, blame their wives, poverty, their friends, the Nigerian government, politicians , the Catholic Church etc; some even blame their children. Who is responsible for such massive failure in our country?

What do these people need to learn? What do they need to know or to do so as to reinvent themselves in order to succeed?

What is the difference between those who succeed and those who fail?

How can they -( these young Nigerian graduates ,many middle level Civil Servants ,many office workers and many politicians, many parents, many married couples even many Reverends and pastors,)-how can they eliminate the failure barriers and go from crippling failure to success?

What can we do to make Nigeria a Better Place?

Jobs/Vacancies / Are Naija Job Interviews Free And Fair? by naira2009: 10:55am On Dec 01, 2008
Hi
This is to all you great guys and members of Nairaland!!

I thought all interviews in Nigeria were free and fair until one day by chance, just before the interview started, I saw the  list  of the names of the persons who were going to be employed.

I needed money. I was hoping to get a job so that I could start life .I did not know that days before the interview started the top management of the company had already selected the people they were going to employ.

The interview was just a camouflage. A disguise. A smokescreen for the due process stuff. I was just like you. All my life I had been  waiting for someone to help me get a good job. Nothing happened  until I discovered a simple secret.

This  secret changed my life and helped me to stop going for job interviews.

Amazingly I also discovered  that even though thousands  of people like me  have this priceless secret they never discover it .They just ignore it and never use it.

That is why they continue making the 10 deadly mistakes that keep people poor.

Do you make these deadly mistakes ? Many people do!!!

What do you guys think? Are Job interviews in Nigeria Free and Fair?

Prince
