This was announced after the policy meeting of the education sector which took place today, Tuesday, August 22nd.

Dating And Meet-up Zone / How You And Your Co-founder Can Develop A Reliable Relationship by nairavibez: 12:07pm On Aug 21, 2017
Last week, when I asked a female leader in tech to comment about the growing number of sex scandals that are popping up every month, she declined, full stop, sharing these stark words instead:

“Every time I speak up about this I feel very unsafe. And I’ve been warned my life could be threatened. So, I’m sorry, but I just can’t keep sticking my neck out for everybody else.”

That’s a loud reminder to how charged the topic is at the moment. In fact, sexism at the workplace represents a still very much understated cultural battleground. It’s so common that the young and burgeoning esports industry is already rife with violent threats and harassment against its professional female players, which the industry is lazily addressing by segregating the sexes into gender-based leagues.

Segregation is tantamount to ignoring the problem, tucking it under the rug, and so avoiding the problem altogether. Too bad you can’t do that in a commercial workplace.

Fortunately, there’s an opposing trend that has all to do with the growing sense of permission women are increasingly giving themselves to speak out and clash against casual misogyny and gender-based disrespect. Every time they do, it’s like a mini-explosion that serves as a cultural catalyst that accelerates things.

You’re missing the big picture if you think this is just about women. I can’t think of a company, an offering, or market that wouldn’t become all the more enriched and effective as a consequence to increasing gender reconciliation in the ‘free’ market.

Case in point: Emerging tech
As I wrote about back in February, when you ensure that both sexes are present throughout the various layers of a company’s organization, its offerings are conceived, developed, and positioned in a way that doesn’t unintentionally alienate half the pie of the population. It’s important to start looking at the major opportunity costs that are faced when women don’t have a seat at the table.

The status quo will naturally resist and the particularly bad apples will predictably turn even more rotten and sour when their deeply ingrained societal patterns are challenged. And women, like the tech leader I approached, may sometimes succumb to the pressure. But by and large, it’s a very positive sign that this bullying appears to be losing ground and is failing to quell the growing trend of women who, despite the associated taboo and consequences, choose to stand up to toxic cultures.

Indeed, it’s hard to miss the continual series of sex scandals that are being reported at flagship tech companies like Uber and, just earlier this month, the now infamous seed accelerator, 500 Startups, thanks to the now notorious Dave McClure. What exactly does it say when the most influential institutes in the startup and tech community, the ones we tend to look up to, are found guilty of cultural toxicity at its highest ranks?

Where there’s smoke, there’s fire
The situation is more widespread than people tend to realize, particularly us men, and that it’s becoming a central theme that is now being seriously addressed is not because the industry itself is growing up and evolving. No, it’s happening because women are taking it for themselves. Every time they whistle blow about these repulsive incidents, episodes, or conditions, it’s like the whole collective community of women at the workplace gets catalysed that much more.

“One of the reasons I think this problem persisted so long is precisely because women were afraid to speak publicly about it and share real experiences and names with a wider audience.” Marija Butkovic, co-founder at Women of Wearables (WoW), told me. “Sometimes it takes a drastic move to achieve a small change, but even that is better than nothing. Women are not weak, it’s time we stop being silent as well.”

Toxic cultures can only persist and fester when there’s weak or no reporting about it, and that reporting only takes place when women give themselves permission to voice their opinions louder, clearer, and directly at the heart of the target so that action is taken immediately to detox the conditions or factors responsible. This is exactly what builds up the immune system of an organization’s emotional intelligence: when shit hits the fan and the organization has no choice but to deal with the unsightly warts head-on.

Each relatively explosive tech scandal is in fact a healthy sign of the growing pains companies need to get through in order to treat gender diversity as a major issue. Think of them as mandatory flu shots. A low-grade fever might accompany it, but you’re ultimately far better off as a whole moving forward.

“Even if these cases don’t bring drastic change for the position of women in the tech industry, they still move the needle on the actual awareness on the problem itself. We can expect to see things changing only when we start talking about it and when women start to speak up sharing their experiences.” Butkovic says.

Aside from encouraging a system that is immediately receptive, responsive, and proactive in untangling itself from the grips of ‘bro culture’ and the tendency to consciously or unconsciously turn a blind eye to casual misogyny as an institution, the other priority has to be on balancing the scales of gender parity in terms of sheer numbers. Women in tech are in serious need of backup.

“Challenging the ‘bro’ culture in tech requires more than just supporting the few women left there — it actually means attracting, recruiting and keeping more women.” Sharmi Albrechtsen, CEO at SmartGurlz, told me.

Albrechten’s startup, which makes coding robots and action dolls for girls 6 and older, for example are running an ongoing workshop called “Tech Bro Guys” that matchmakes some of tech’s finest ‘bros’ with young female participants who they get to mentor. So, here’s a corporate volunteering program that is run by a startup in order to instil aspirations and an appreciation for tech as a more than viable career path for female youth. And all the while, the tech guys who participate in these programs will gain some first-hand perspectives that might have a positive and constructive influence.

There’s indeed lots of creative ways to do deal with the wider problem, if you really want to look for them, and those efforts will at least demonstrate an outward interest by companies in addressing sexism and the health of their company cultures. Sex scandals, on the other hand, most certainly point to a lack of real inner commitment to that ideal and can serve as a great alarm clock to take a deeper look under the hood and throw out what needs to go.

Science/Technology / Volkswagen’s Electric Microbus Will Hit The Road In 2022 by nairavibez: 11:04am On Aug 21, 2017
Earlier this year, Volkswagen unveiled the I.D. BUZZ, its Microbus-inspired EV at the Detroit Auto Show. Most of the people assumed that it would meet the same fate as many concept cars. However, it won’t. The company announced that it will put the I.D. BUZZ into production, with a hope to begin selling by 2022.

volkswagen

Initially, Volkswagen is targeting North America, Europe, and China to launch the EV. From the design, it’s quite clear that the EV is a pure honor to the iconic vehicle from the company, which was sold in North America between 1950 and 1980. However, as all the batteries will be mounted under the floor, the production version of the EV is expected to veer a little from the original one. Also, like the original microbus, the I.D. BUZZ will be offered as a cargo van. According to VW, they took the decision aiming at the commercial market, where the internal combustion engine vehicles are quite expensive to operate because of the emissions regulations.

The company says the new I.D. BUZZ is going to come after a more conventional all-electric Volkswagen under the I.D. label. VW hopes, being introduced under the label, this new bus will take advantage of the electrification and autonomous driving capabilities.

Find basic information about Android smartphone.

THE TIME OF RELEASE
Google will be going live with its Android O at 1440 EST, a few minutes right before the eclipse is at its annex. Users can experience the eclipse on VR through Google Earth by clicking Android.com/o on Monday.

You can either view the eclipse with the Android O or via NASA’s live feature. Furthermore, one can also learn astounding facts regarding both solar and lunar eclipses that appear once in a year.

WILL OREO BE AS DISAPPOINTING AS NOUGAT?
Hopefully, Oreo will not be as disappointing as Google’s previous release called Nougat, which was supposed to be named Nutella. Naming these OS’s after desserts have been a ritual practice by Google for a long time.

However, according to a post by 9to5Google, which was about Google+ revealing the teaser with a file named GoogleOreo_Teaser_0817_noDroids (1).mp4.

That post was immediately replaced with a different file called Octopuse.Teaser.mp4; however, the harm was already caused.

THE FOLLOWING PICTURE WAS LATER TWITTED BY EVAN BLASS:

Health / Another Doctor Tests Positive To Lassa Fever In LUTH by nairavibez: 10:01am On Aug 20, 2017
“Psychological and other supports have also been provided and her family contacts are closely monitored,” the CMD said.

He stated that three doctors admitted with confirmed Lassa fever in the teaching hospital have all been certified fit and discharged home as subsequent repeated tests on them showed that they tested negative for Lassa and no longer harbour the disease.

Last week, two patients were brought to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital and later diagnosed with Lassa fever. Three doctors who closely attended to the first patient later tested positive for the disease and were admitted, while 135 other contacts had been followed up.

However, it was gathered that 70 of the contacts that were being followed up have also been let off, having completed their period of observation. He said over 400 LUTH staff attended a grand round on Viral Hemorrhagic Fever yesterday at which various aspects of this contagious ailment were discussed.

The importance of a high index of suspicion, early diagnosis and referral were highlighted to medical workers who were also enjoined to observe universal precautions while attending to any patient who may be suspected of having Lassa fever.

The CMD spoke further: “There is a fully equipped response squad available round the clock to assess and take over the management of any suspected cases in LUTH. Various meetings have been held with doctors and other members of staff to reinforce these messages. Trainings have also been conducted and are ongoing for staff at the forefront of patients’ care. Both the Federal Ministry of Health and the Lagos State Ministry of Health have supported LUTH with the provision of more drugs and Personal Protective Equipment, follow up services and decontamination. Free hand sanitizers have been deployed to various wards.

“Ebola Containment Trust Fund, a non-governmental organisation has provided 10 telephones and airtime for the use of our Lassa Fever Response Team in LUTH. The team has been beefed up by several volunteer staff who are working assiduously to overcome this dreaded disease and we are optimistic, buoyed by the successful discharge of those three doctors who had earlier tested positive.”

Prof. Bode said that an internal enquiry had been empaneled to audit possible breaches in established service protocols and any other reasons that resulted into hospital personnel getting infected.

He added that the disease was gradually tapering off but noted “we must remain vigilant while ongoing efforts are maintained to control the disease. LUTH Management thanks all stakeholders and the Press for their continued support.

Foreign Affairs / Without Trump, Twitter Could Lose Almost A Fifth Of Value by nairavibez: 9:45am On Aug 20, 2017
…US president has 36 million followers and has tweeted more than 35,000 times since 2009

That’s the conclusion of Monness Crespi Hardt & Co analyst James Cakmak, who said that the social media company would see as much as $2 billion in market value wiped out if @realDonaldTrump quit tweeting.

It’s not that the US president’s defection would touch off a mass exodus, lowering the number of “monetisable” daily active users, Cakmak said in an interview. Instead, losing its most prominent user would hit Twitter’s intangible value and lead to what’s known as multiple compression.

“There is no better free advertising in the world than the president of the United States,” said Cakmak, who has a neutral rating on Twitter shares.

While Twitter doesn’t disclose the total number, Cakmak estimates daily users are around 125 million, about 30 per cent fewer than Snap.

Twitter said in July that daily active users rose 12 per cent in the second quarter, compared with the same period in 2016.

Trump has 36 million followers and has tweeted more than 35,000 times since joining the social media service in 2009.

Twitter’s business doesn’t face much risk from “potential diminishing political relevancy”, Cakmak said in a note published on Thursday. “What’s most important is the execution of the right strategy, since at the present state we find Twitter not capitalising on the opportunity that’s in front of them.”

Twitter shares have fallen 14 per cent since Trump won the presidency in the November 8 election. The company’s market cap is about $

Business / How I Started My Business With N1000 by nairavibez: 1:15pm On Aug 12, 2017
Mrs. Ekanem Ekuma, CEO Dreamwalk International Ltd. is on a mission to use local materials to create products of international standards. Ekuma started her business with N1000 only. She started with a dish washer and today, she has eight products to her business name. She boasts of Dream Care floor cleaner, dish washer, hand wash, hand sanitiser, glass cleaner, car wash, laundry detergent and toilet bowl cleaner.

The CEO told Inspire her inspiring business story and what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

How did you become an entrepreneur?

I used to be a banker. But at some point, I became frustrated with my life and job. I thought I could do something better by starting a business. I attended a Poverty Alleviation Skill Acquisition Training that lasted three weeks. During that time, I learnt to make the regular road side liquid soap.

But I told myself that I can bring my education into the business and make something better out of it. After lectures, I would Google the chemicals mentioned in class as well as their uses and how they can be combined to produce different home products. When I was able to discover what each one does within the local formulation, I was able to vary it to get something better.

My first outing was a flop. I wanted to do something big. I started with dish washer, I made containers for my products and it cost me almost a million naira. But all that money went down the drain because the containers were not right. The products were okay but I didn’t understand the market. I went in big and lost big. I started again with the floor cleaner and this time, I took N1000 and told myself that if my investment is small, then my loss would be small.

I took N1000 and I bought small chemicals and ten small bottles for my product. I came back and I mixed my floor cleaner. By then, I was neck deep in depression because things were not working out well. I was frustrated and wondered why I left my job for an uncertain future as a business woman. But that time, I made something that worked. I sold them and took the money back to the market.

The floor cleaner was the birth of all my eight products. From the N1000 I invested, I made N1500 gain. I grew from there. I got back into making dish washer. I researched a lot. I made so many mistakes trying to make a good dish washer. My house was filled with chemicals and smells of chemicals. I lost money mixing chemicals. But I continued till I got it right. It has been five years since I started my business. My products have evolved.

How did you get your business registered?

I started at the back of our house then and from the money and the business made, I rented a small shop where I paid N6000 a month. I went to NAFDAC to get approval for my business. When they came to inspect my shop, they told me what I had wasn’t standard space.

They outlined all the conditions I must meet for them to register my business which included potable water, large space, fenced environment. The list was long but I was determined to do this.

After a year, my neighbour moved and I begged the landlord to allow me take her shop so as to expand my space. I was able to do some fencing and expanded my space. NAFDAC finally gave me approval. It took me almost three years to get NAFDAC approval. All our machines are locally fabricated. Our chemicals are locally sourced. My aim is to use locally made products to create products of international standards.

What other help did you get building your business?

I did all these on my own. I researched a lot on making these products. It was also based on trial and error. I learnt from my mistakes. I failed a lot. It took a lot of time and efforts

What lessons did you learn starting your business?

You need to start small. When you start small, the losses are small. Don’t try to be different from the rest without understanding the market first. Creating unique products is great when you have made a name for yourself. When you are nobody, look like somebody until you have entered the market successfully.

You have to be ‘stupidly stubborn’. Stay in the market no matter what the market does to you. There are so many pitfalls, but just stay there. With time, you will make it. There were people who laughed at us initially but now, they have come back to be part of our success story.

Try to build a good foundation. In my former factory, we had a well water source but NAFDAC didn’t want products made with well water. I didn’t want to start on a faulty foundation. So, I went to water board for solution because there was no water on that street. I spent money extending pipes of water to my factory. But as soon as I drew the water from five streets away, the pipes were cut because of road construction. I lost money trying to do the right thing but it didn’t stop me from getting NAFDAC approval. They saw through my sincerity of purpose. Aspiring entrepreneurs should start on a clean slate, no lies and no shortcuts.

Be proud of what you do. The only thing one should be ashamed of is begging and stealing. I tell people everywhere I go that I make soap. I don’t look down on myself. I don’t feel ashamed doing it because it is the work of my hands. I get my satisfaction from people buying and using my products. The feeling is priceless.

Be your own first staff. What your business cannot afford, it is not ready for you. I was the only staff when I started. I painted my first factory. I couldn’t afford to pay workers then. You shouldn’t feel too big to do anything that would build your business. When you become successful, all the sacrifices won’t matter anymore. Financial discipline is also very important. Don’t dip your hands into your business money.

How do you market your products?

We have an online store where people place orders. If you are buying from our online store, you have to buy a certain amount of products especially if you are not in Lagos. Also, we have distributors who buy from us wholesale and sell at market price. There are also people who market on commission basis.

Were there times you felt like giving up?

Yes, I felt like that many times. I have cried so many times building this business. That water issue was everything we had worked for in a year and it all went down the drain because of road construction.

It broke my heart many times. I spent half a million naira drawing that water to my factory. I have been laughed at many times when I went to market with some of my products. Those times, I cried. It felt like I made a mistake going into business. Some distributors also absconded with my money after selling some products.

Where do you see your business in another five years?

Dream Care would have become a household name. We want to be in every home. We don’t want Nigerians to miss foreign products that are expensive. We want to replace foreign products at minimal costs.

Why are your products edible?

I am conscious of toxicity because I make household products and children are exposed to them. I make my products with vinegar, baking soda and citric acid and table salt.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

Follow your dream. Give it all that you have. Your business is your life. Nurture your business like a child. Don’t put responsibilities on your business. Let the business grow. Put back what is making into it. Build your business while you make money from another source that will feed you and meet your family’s neeD

Sports / Burnley Storms Stamford Bridge As Chelsea Begins Title Defense by nairavibez: 1:09pm On Aug 12, 2017
Burnley FC heads to the Stamford Bridge today with an intent to checkmate reigning English Premier League champions Chelsea on their opening fixture.

Antonio Conte has spent the summer bemoaning the lack of money spent by his team in the summer transfer market, fretting about the lack of players he needs to be successful both in the Premier League and the Champions League and wondering where his sources of offence are.

Now imagine how much more intense those cries would be had Conte not won the Premier League title in his first season with Chelsea.

The reigning title-holders begin their season today in a state of flux as they host Burnley at Stamford Bridge.

Conte’s first season on the London touchline turned into stardust as Chelsea (30-3-5) rocketed from 10th during their shambolic title defense in the 2015-16 season to back atop the table for the second time in three years. The Italian had the luxury of not worrying about any European competition, and he was able to keep his squad fresh as Chelsea were eliminated in the fourth round of the EFL Cup and reached the final of the FA Cup.

This time around, the Champions League beckons.

Conte has been vocal on repeated occasions he wanted to aggressively spend this summer to keep up with the football powers both in England and Europe, the Manchesters, the Barcelonas, the PSGs of the world, yet there has been little splash aside from the £70 million for Alvaro Morata of Real Madrid and the combined £60 million for Monaco’s Tiemoue Bakayoko and AS Roma’s Antonio Rudinger.

“Last season we played many matches but we were able to rest a lot between games,” defender David Luiz said. “This season we will be playing midweek and then again at the weekend, so it’s more about the rest and rotating the team because some players will play in the Premier League, and then others will play in the Champions League, it’s more about the squad.”

The lack of depth was further exposed when midfielder Nemanja Matic, a key player in Conte’s 3-5-2 formation last season that changed the complexion of the Premier League, shockingly left last month to rejoin former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho at Manchester United for £40 million.

“Matic knows very well what I think of him,” Conte told Sky Sports. “The importance for me about this player, who is a really good player, a top player, very important for our team, but sometimes you must accept this crazy transfer market.

“But he is a great loss for us.”

The problem up front was in part exacerbated by Conte, who told Diego Costa his services were no longer wanted at Chelsea shortly after last season ended. Love him, hate him or otherwise given his pantomime villain routine on the pitch, Costa scored a team-high 20 goals in league play to help Chelsea win the title and is now content to bide his time at Cobham waiting out Atletico Madrid’s transfer ban that ends in January.

His absence is a glaring void that needs to be filled, the sooner, the better. And while Morata had 20 goals in all competitions for the Champions League winners, leading the line in London will be a tall order for the 24-year-old, perhaps more so since Conte and Chelsea were gazumped by Mourinho and United for top target Romelu Lukaku.

Some of Chelsea’s growing pains were apparent Sunday when they lost the Community Shield match to Arsenal on penalties at Wembley. Morata was a late substitute, while starting forward Michy Batshauayi failed to impress. Though still an impressive distributor of the ball, Cesc Fabregas lacked pace at times and left N’Golo Kante with far too much clean-up work to do in front of the defence.

Conte has warned, repeatedly, that his current thin side could suffer a “Mourinho repeat” championship hangover without reinforcements. Chelsea are rumoured to be interested in disgruntled Southampton defender Virgil Van Dijk and Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who would be reunited with Kante from their 2016 Premier League title days, and the next two-plus weeks leading to the deadline will undoubtedly be full of moves and countermoves to get up to speed.

One holdover who will miss Chelsea’s lid-lifter is attacking midfielder Eden Hazard, who is recovering from an ankle injury. Hazard’s return to form was a key reason Chelsea returned to their winning ways as he finished with 16 goals and five assists in league play.

Amid the drama that surrounds Chelsea enter Burnley (11-7-20), who finished 16th last season and six points clear of the drop in their return to the Premier League. This campaign will mark the first time the Clarets will play top-flight football in consecutive seasons since 1973-76, but like the Blues, they enter this game with a large question mark at the forward position.

After negotiations for a new contract with Andre Gray fell through, Burnley opted to sell the striker, second to Sam Vokes last season with nine goals, to Watford for a reported £18.5 million, which is one of the largest transfer fees in club history. The largest came in July, when central defender Michael Keane was sold to Everton for £25 million.

The two moves have thrust Burnley into the favourites’ spot of being relegated this season, but the outlook is anything but dreary at Turf Moor. In fact, defender Ben Mee thinks Saturday might be the perfect opportunity to catch Chelsea on the back foot.

“You have to play them at some time,” he told The Telegraph. “You might as well play them early, you might catch them by surprise, you never know. Our performances against the big teams were pretty good last year, barring Chelsea away and it’ll be a really good test for us early in the season.”

But the Clarets’ road form, including that 3-0 hiding by Chelsea, leaves much to be desired. Burnley had just one victory and a paltry seven points outside Turf Moor, getting outscored 35-13 and failed to score a goal in the run of play on the road until their eighth match.

Chelsea have won all three Premier League matches at home over Burnley, whose last win at Stamford Bridge came on penalties in the fourth round of the 2009 Carling Cup. The Clarets have not won at Chelsea in league play since 1977 in the Second

Sports / Arsenal 4-3 Leicester City by nairavibez: 11:41am On Aug 12, 2017
Jamie Vardy heads Leicester in front against Arsenal
Giroud’s dramatic winner was his 50th goal for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in all competitions

Substitute Olivier Giroud headed in a dramatic late winner as Arsenal fought back to beat Leicester City in a thrilling start to the 2017-18 Premier League season.

The Gunners trailed 3-2 with seven minutes to go before Aaron Ramsey and Giroud swung the game back in the home side’s favour at a euphoric Emirates Stadium.

Alexandre Lacazette headed the Gunners ahead 94 seconds into his top-flight debut, only for Shinji Okazaki to nod in an equaliser just two minutes later.

Vardy then slid the visitors ahead from Marc Albrighton’s cross, before Danny Welbeck drew Arsenal level at the end of a pulsating opening half.

Leicester took the lead again when Vardy headed in Riyad Mahrez’s corner before Arsene Wenger made an inspired double substitution which sparked Arsenal’s comeback.

Substitute Ramsey smashed in an angled drive – from a corner which was won after Mesut Ozil handled in the build-up – before Giroud showed athleticism and strength to meet Granit Xhaka’s corner.

Listen: 5 live Football Daily – Arsenal get season off to a flier
Giroud proves his worth after deciding to stay
Giroud’s days at Arsenal appeared to be numbered following the arrival of fellow France striker Lacazette from Lyon for a club-record £46.5m fee.

And Wenger revealed after Friday’s win that Giroud, who has scored 97 goals in 231 appearances since joining from Montpellier in 2012, could have left the Gunners this summer.

“At one stage I opened the door for him as I knew I had many strikers, and in the end he decided to stay,” said Wenger.

“He doesn’t want to leave and I’m happy he wants to stay.”

The 30-year-old wasted no time in proving his worth with another vital goal after coming on as a substitute.

Giroud offers a different, more physical option for Wenger, but is hoping for a more substantial role at the club.

Since the start of last season, he has scored seven Premier League goals when coming off the bench – three more than any other player in the same period.

“I prefer to be on the pitch as much as I can but I want to help the team reach the targets,” he said.

Wenger delighted with ‘cracking’ opener
Arsenal rally to avoid another opening defeat
Arsenal started the new Premier League season having won just one of their previous five opening matches – all of which were also home fixtures.

In the build-up to Friday’s game Wenger repeatedly stressed the importance of beginning with a positive result against Leicester – and the Gunners appeared to have listened to their manager as they made the dream start.

Lacazette was perfectly placed to take advantage of Wes Morgan misjudging Mohamed Elneny’s cross, flicking in a low header to become the fastest-scoring debutant in Premier League history.

Alexandre Lacazette
Lacazette scored with only his second touch in the Premier League. His first? The kick-off…
The joy did not last long, however. Leicester exploited sloppiness by the Gunners to go ahead, leading to murmurings of discontent among the home crowd.

Arsenal’s failure to finish in the top four of the Premier League for the first time in 20 years last season, not to mention the criticism Wenger has received from some sections of the Gunners support, meant the Frenchman could ill-afford to begin with a defeat.

And the mood ebbed and flowed inside the Emirates – with some of the familiar grumblings of discontent evident.

The atmosphere turned dark among the home fans after Vardy’s first, the audible frustration subsiding when Welbeck calmly rolled in Saed Kolasinac’s cut-back, only to return again when Vardy restored the Foxes lead.

Wenger looked on anxiously from the dugout, eventually appearing on the touchline when he introduced Ramsey and Giroud after 67 minutes.

Within 20 minutes both players had scored – and the mood completely changed – as Arsenal avoided losing their opening fixture for the fourth time in five years.

Leicester show glimpses of their title-winning form
Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare talked in his pre-match interview about the Foxes knowing their counter-attacking strengths and trying to use them to good effect against Arsenal’s “fashionable” back three.

That is exactly what they did.

The visitors found joy down the flanks, exposing the Gunners’ familiar defensive failings through Vardy’s sharp movement and quick balls forward.

Arsenal win thriller against Leicester
Leicester targeted Arsenal from wide areas, putting in 14 crosses from open play during the first half – double the amount of their hosts. The two blue arrows denote their first-half goals, with the red arrows not finding a blue shirt
Their rapid breaks were reminiscent of their title-winning side of two seasons ago, as was their clinical finishing: the Foxes scored with each of their three efforts on target.

Unfortunately for the 2015-16 champions, it was their own lapses of concentration which could not keep Arsenal out at the other end.

Led by captain Wes Morgan and new signing Harry Maguire, Leicester remained resolute in the second half until the pressure from Arsenal – who had 27 attempts at goal – eventually told.

“Scoring three goals away from home is a positive and we’ll get back on the training field to make sure we sort the problems out,” said Vardy, who turned down a move to the Gunners last summer.

Post-match reaction
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger:

“We know defensively we can do better but overall we produced a top-quality game.

“When the substitutes came on they had enough quality to make the difference.

“I’m convinced that overall this kind of game can strengthen the belief. When you’re in difficult situations you’re reminded you’ve done it before so can do it again.”

Leicester manager Craig Shakespeare:

“We spoke about being compact and being a threat with the pace of Vardy. We executed that well. We’re disappointed to score three and come away with a defeat.

“When teams make substitutes just before corners it’s confusing. I’m disappointed with the handball in the build up, but once the corner’s given you have to defend it better. I don’t know whether it was lack of concentration or game management.

Arsenal just love playing against Leicester…
This was only the sixth time that an opening game in a Premier League season has seen seven goals scored – no game has seen more
Arsenal are now unbeaten in 22 Premier League games against Leicester City – winning 15 and drawing seven – and they have won 11 successive Premier League home games against the Foxes
Alexandre Lacazette scored with his first shot (and second touch) as a Premier League player
The last player to score a goal faster on their Premier League debut was Thievy Bifouma, who came on for his Premier League debut for West Brom at half-time and scored after just 36 seconds in a 3-1 defeat at Crystal Palace in February 2014
Lacazette is just the seventh player to score on his Premier League debut for Arsenal, after Kevin Campbell, Steve Bould, Fredrik Ljungberg, Emmanuel Adebayor, Samir Nasri and Thomas Vermaelen.
Jamie Vardy has now scored five goals in his last five Premier League appearances against Arsenal
What’s next?
The rest of the opening Premier League weekend, of course…

After that, Arsenal go to Stoke City – a place where they have struggled in recent years, winning just one of their past seven trips – on Saturday, 19 August (17:30 BST).

Leicester return home as they welcome newly-promoted Brighton on the same day (15:00 BST).

Science/Technology / A Guide To Responding To Negative Reviews On Glassdoor (infographic) by nairavibez: 2:48pm On Jul 29, 2017
Glassdoor has become a great resource for people to learn about a company, as the career website allows employees to write anonymous reviews.

Although sometimes, an angry or emotional employee might leave a company an undeserved poor review. And with nearly 61 percent of job seekers saying they read Glassdoor reviews before making a decision about a potential employer, it’s important to monitor your reputation on the site.

There’s a right way to respond to bad Glassdoor reviews. For starters, don’t just ignore the comment altogether. Instead, respond with a “thank you.”

When you’re responding to a negative review with a “thank you,” you should also address each point that they’ve made in their comment -- publicly explain how the company plans to solve the issue. In addition, combat the negatives with some positives so people see that your company is a great place to work. Share positive aspects of the company to give a broader view. Not only that, but the response should come from the company’s CEO to make it more powerful.
