We are happy to announce that world famous “sleepless hacking weekend”
Garage48 (www.garage48.org) will take place in Lagos
on May 6-8th 2011. Garage48 events have been proven it’s success in Europe
so far,  now we are coming to Lagos to connect startup & tech community in
Nigeria. Garage48 Lagos partners are Google and Nokia.

Garage48 is an event for brave and active startup minded people who want to
develop their new idea into a product (or working prototype) in the course
of one weekend. We are skipping paperwork, spreadsheets and we're going back
to the roots of tech projects for building the prototypes in good old
"garage".

Garage48 invites 100 participants with various roles:

   - Graphic Designers & User Interaction gurus
   - Web Front-end Developers (HTML, CSS, JS, Ajax)

@TomClancy I made it with photoshop (same way you work; layering/coloring), though, i now also work with Adobe Illustrator. A lot of advantages come with working or starting in Vector, e.g. You can enlarge ur artwork to any dimension without loss of quality, You can change the thickness of paths easily without having to erase and redraw them like in photoshop etc.). I still use photoshop though, can't do without it

@Poster: You need tutorials on notepad++ It's just a text- editor. If you just downloaded it, what text editor were u using before?, Or do you need help on a particular programming language?

@emmakc: I'm not that good with painting in PS. I takes patience especially when one doesn't have a tablet. For the brush marks crossing the edges; ctrl+click on your drawing layer, then ctrl+shift+I to invert selection, then press delete. Hope that helps?

Create a new layer (ctrl+shift+n), change ur foreground/background color by clicking on it, then fill the selection with your foreground or background color wit alt+del or ctrl+del (that is if u used the marquee tool). If it's a path, just right click & fill path.

Now something weird is going on. I made a comment on this post yesterday & today a blue sreen shows up on my PC. hmmm. Maybe it's the Windows7

I did this with PS/AI. Its more like a promo for a site i'm launching soon . U guys are great, keep it creative. Simple is not boring.

Open the picture in a graphic software e.g microsoft soft(which comes with every PC), adobe photoshop etc. and resize ur pic. Goodluck!

It may be due to a recently installed hardware, like RAM. If you did, try replacing it & see what happens.

@smartsoft: I get ur point. But, i'm not tryin' to have all softwares, i'm just trying to see what gimp has got to offer. who knows . I started graphics with corel but now i use only photoshop.

Thanks for the links . I tried opening my existing psd files with gimp but it didn't handle them properly. I'll suspend PS for while, and see what gimp can do. I also checked out the links,  really impressive. Thanks

I just downloaded Gimp 2.6 and it's looking pretty much like photoshop to me. I already use photoshop/illustrator. please i need informatn from anyone already using the software, if there's anything GIMP achieves better than PS.

Hey guys! I use vista home basic & i noticed that the snipping tool is absent. Is there any way this can be installed. I've tried my best but i only got alternative apps. I want the exact type that comes with vista. Is the search fruitless
