It's different from the normal Anabin because Nursing and Midwifery are regulated profession. Go to the website of a body that does recognition and download their document for recognition. Usually the regeriumspraesidium of a state. The documents are free. They will say that they need a certain amount of language before they can issue you, but you can already translate documents with a dolmetsche/Dolmetscherin or Übersetzer It's not cheap. Then gather the documents and send to them while learning language if you haven't reached B1. This option opens you not only to chance card but also to other work visa options. At the
end they will tell you that your qualification is not up to that in Germany and that you will do an adaptation course. Don't worry. They will still pay you during the adaptation course. And after that you will write an exam that qualifies you as a nurse or midwife.
blovesther:
please can you guide/direct me on how to get the qualification recognised?
I have tried using Anabin, but it's as if that one deals with only degrees.

I applied for the opportunity card today as a healthcare (am a registered midwife)
Please does anyone know what I should get ready for the appointment day.

Do try to get your qualification recognised. Midwifery is a regulated profession. The process includes translation of your documents, sending them to the body that will do the recognition. This is state specific. You will now get a defizitbescheid which you will now be asked to go for further training. You will be paid while undergoing the training.

PhD should be category A. Your spouse have to provide a blocked account too. She can join as dependent or with a family reunion visa. I assume your PhD is a paid position on some certain percentage? If not, then blocked account applies to you too.
wallmosh:

Thanks for the input.

I would be glad for your clarification on someone who has been offered research assistant position (PhD) with provisional Meyer term to be extended upon performance review on:
1. Which category of visa is applying for?
2. Is advisable going with spouse and which visa category will he/she be applying for?
3. What is the financial and other requirements if both are applying?

German embassy doesn't accept bank statements for chance card, student visa or work visas. They might accept for visit visa, but then the person inviting you will still drop proof of sponsor. Language requirements are essential in collecting points as the chancecard is a point based system and one should strive to have a minimum of 6 points.
nnanyelugo1:
Please do your research well.
German Embassy is a accepting 6 months bank statement if you don't have blocked account. Secondly if your degree and university are fully recognised in Anabin(H+) you don't need IELTS and ZAB.

It's better you get clarification from German Embassy to avoid misleading information.

I think some private insurance company allow you to pay when you arrive. I am not sure which one again.
Jupp:

How about the health insurance. Do we have to keep paying for that. How can we go around this? I called BARMER and the customer representative said I have to keep paying so far I'm enrolled even if I'm not in the country.

Get your degree recognised...

Becoted001:
Hi everyone, I am new here. This is my first post. Please pardon any mistakes. Interest in the Germany Opportunity Card exists for me.

I have worked as a data and business analyst for five years, and I hold a first degree in economics as well as a diploma in economics and statistics.

I have also written IELTS with Band score 6.

Is there any other requirement? I will appreciate it if someone can put me through

Chizzaram:
You have to book an appointment online for the opportunity card. Closest to it on the booking portal is the 'other' category grouped with work permit, internship, training, au pair.
For this category you have to wait for a year to get an appointment date. The German mission in Nigeria is not even saying anything about it yet.

This is a case of booking by assumption. The chance card option I believe will be provided when they are ready.

Can someone who had his first degree in English language apply in German Uni with letter of English proficiency from the school?

Some schools are strict on requirements. Best is to send the school an email requesting for a waiver. During our own time, it was common to use a letter from your university, nowadays I see them requesting Ielts of 6, 6,5 and 7,5.

Hello bro, I am a software developer. Been waiting for this chancenkarte since last year. In fact, I shunned UK MSC last year because I have hope on this Opportunity Card AKA Chancenkarte.
I have a few questions though.

How do I prove my years of experience? Will my employment letter and pay slips suffice? I can’t ask my current employer to provide me with any form of letter because I don’t intend telling them that I am leaving until my visa is sure.

Can I use a letter of proficiency in English language from my university as certificate of English language just like the German universities accept.

Anyone can respond to this please.

First of all, the chancekarte is a point based system and you would do anything to increase your points so as to increase your chances.

That includes your experience : You need a letter of recommendation from current employer, or what we refer to here as Arbeitszeugnis from previous employment. Both of them are not the same. You can try with employment letter. I think it should be fine, but you would submit any documents that will increase your chances.

Language skills : A2 German will give you more points, so if you haven't started learning, get on board and take your exam at Goethe institute. English skills of up to B2 : Toefl/Ielts.

I think they expect you to have some links to Germany : like previous visits.

1. How long does it normally take.
2. Do you advise I go do residency in Cameroon (if so how much time does it take).

I have a question for you about learning German in Goethe Institut. Was it worth it? I want someone I know to try their online class? Or do you recommend a physical class? How long did it take you to get to B2? How fluent are you?

Comes down to cost.
If you want to survey both in one... You'll pay and start afresh....

If it's same name on both, then just do a fresh one if cost isn't an issue but if cost is... Then do the other survey perhaps using your son's name or mum's name or wife's etc

The old one was done in the seller's name hence the reason of redoing it. I think there's not much cost difference.

I am in a dilemma. I bought two plots of land recently, one already surveyed and the other not. My question now is, can I survey both of them as one and or I should just survey the other land.

Or is it best to just survey the remaining land?

I look forward to your recommendations. Thank you in advance!

Their site is not upside down. It's one of the best structured site I have ever seen. And if you are going for a PhD, you can contact professors and postdoc directly for a position in their establishment. Google is also your best friend. Best of luck.

You can't live in a country without interacting with her people. German is a hard language, hence integration has always been a problem for the turkish and all other small communities living in Germany.

For me, in the beginning, I was like I don't need the language, until I graduated. The pressure was too much. I had to enrol even though I detest learning languages. I proceeded to learn the langauge, got a job almost at the end with my B2.

Some of the 2011 guys are still here, but the set of people that came with me have migrated to English speaking countries after getting their citizenship, or after their studies. The rest are in Germany, working and playing parents at the end of the day which is a difficult task.
ibo:
Wow, this wonderful thread has gotten to part-8, what a journey, what a story.

Let me just drop this here, it may be useful to someone. For those who have gotten their Visa's and are already studying, try as much as possible to learn the language, before you finish your program. E get why!! Unless you don't see yourself staying back after studies, then you can say Eff the language.

If you are in category B and you don't have an appointment date, just use this time to learn the language.
I am shouting learn the language ohh, hmm what I have seen, and heard my mouth cannot say it all.
My German journey has been eventful with plenty of ups and downs; however, the language has been my secret weapon.
I have so much to write about, I'll probably open a diary thread and post the link here. You guys will have to excuse my use of English, it has been a long time I actually typed more than 100 words in English.

@Justwise I wanted to go back in time, the link you posted for part 4 was broken, I had to use Google. You are doing a good job. I hope @Seun is paying you for this ohh. I no wan hear say na awooof work.

Before I drop my keyboard, If most of you guys noticed, the first set of people who came to Germany, when this thread started 2011ish are no longer here, the country toughens you up, and you think only about yourself. I hope I can make out time and give back to the community.

Why are you so full of yourself? You got German citizenship and the earth should fall?

Dear readers,

The only reason she got the citizenship that early is because she's married to a German. I am telling you that if you also married a German and earns a certain amount (netto) per year you would get the citizenship. Netto is calculated here per household. But you just don't need marrying German, you also need to have the language qualifications and have taken the citizenship test. And you don't even need 3 years, you need 2 and half years depending on your region/state.

If she's to hustle it normally, as an asylum seeker, it might take 11 years or more or shorter if you married or got a German pregnant and you are taking care of your child.

If she's to get it as a student who transited from getting his/her degree then she needs to have residence permit for a certain number of years, have language qualifications of at least B1 before she can get it in 7 years (B2 - 6 years) depending on the state.

There is no straight way to it. Keep your head down. Get a work, do your work. Learn the language. Get integrated and you will be German and in most cases on paper 😂.

Keinbock:

First of all, SIT DOWN LET ME SCHOOL YOU:

First of all, I am a girl. I married a German citizen, which made me qualify for the citizenship. The thing you might not know, is that you can apply for the citizenship after 2yrs and 6 months if you meet the following criteria :
1. You don't have any criminal record
2. You are married to a German citizen
3. You have a job that pays you a minimum of 1490 AFTER TAX.
4. you have been gainfully employed for more than a year.
5. At the time of your application, you are still married to the said German citizen.

Research and research but if you want me to school you the more, then let me know. ( I might not have the time though)

I know you will also doubt it, if I tell you that I published a book in German a year after moving to Germany (it's available on amazon, by the way).

And your brain go scatter if I tell you how much I earn at 31.

I have a question for the Engineers in the house. Between surface wiring and conduit which one would be best when building a rented apartment (blocks of flat). Location is southeast (Onitsha to be precise). The engineer mentioned that surface wiring is outdated for modern building and it's not safe. But someone I know mentioned that tenants might want to rewire things when they pack into the house thereby destroying everything. Now I am lost if we should continue the dropping.

Your recommendation and comments is really appreciated.
