Nigerian Health care system needs a reform for cancer care. Cancer care also needs second opinions from London or India to make better recovery or for peace of mind. Integrating different cancer care pathways is very important.

Cancer generally means when abnormal cells grow (multiplies) uncontrollably, whereby some may eventually spread to other tissues in the human body parts. Therefore breast cancer simply is when the abnormal cells in the breast begins to grow.

HOW IT ALL BEGINS

Breast cancer have become so common amongst women, due to this any slight pain felt by a woman would already be assumed to be breast cancer either by her or some random person that does not know any slight thing about breast cancer, without going for check ups or consulting a doctor. Here are some easy steps to follow, before seeing your doctor.

24hoursreporter:
Cancer is one of the most feared ailments in the world. According to experts, it is the second most common causes of death worldwide.

Honestly, whenever we see someone suffering from cancer, death is the next thing that comes to our mind. While cancer is dangerous, it has been overhyped over the years.

Despite the effort experts are making to increase cancer awareness worldwide, there is still misinformation about it.

Again, this ailment affects millions of people every year. According to research, one out of every ten persons has a family member or friend that has been diagnosed with cancer. Yeah! It is that dangerous.

Going by the reports of the National Cancer Institute, there are over 100 diagnosable variations of cancers. While there are advance medical breakthroughs in cancer treatments, most cancers cases have no definitive cure.

This is why it is one of the most dangerous ailments in the world currently. There are still several things most people don’t know about cancer. This article will clarify all the doubts and misinformation you have about this deadly ailment.

9 Misinformation People Have About Cancer

#1. People Who Make Healthy Choices Don’t Get Cancers

This is one of the greatest fallacies about cancer. Sadly, most people don’t even know how cancer starts.

So, cancer basically starts when a regular cell goes the wrong way.

While living a healthy lifestyle; eating well, regular exercise, getting enough sleep, minimizing alcohol consumption etc, can reduce the risk of cancer, but it is not an assurance that you can’t get cancer.

Let me blow your mind a little, we have seen a yoga instructor suffering from cancer. Cancer is basically a combination of genetics and environmental factors.

#2. Cancer is Contagious

Don’t be a victim of the lie that cancer is contagious “blah blah blah”. It’s a Lie with a capital letter “L”…. Cancer can’t be transmitted and if you have a friend or family member with cancer, you aren’t going to catch it from them.

#3. If Your Parents Have Cancer, You will have too

Indeed illiteracy is a disease o. Imagine “somebody whose father is dying of cancer sees such misconception”…. He will basically die before cancer comes.

Even though genetics is one of the factors causing cancers, but most of the cancer cases are associated with secondary environmental factors.

What most people fail to understand is that “we all make cancer cell”. But the immune system recognizes these cells and kill them with certain special cells. These special cells are like Police Cells, they fight all abnormal cell including cancerous one.

You see, we all make cancer cells. But people with genetic cancers are those who are deficient in those cancer-killing cells (Police cell) or mechanism.

#4. Only People Who Smoke Get Lung Cancer

While smokers have a greater risk of getting lung cancer, it is not peculiar to them. We have seen instances where people who never smoked before in their lives died of lung cancer.

So, the believe that nonsmokers can’t get lung cancer is one of the misinformation people have about cancers.

#5. You Don’t Have Cancer If You Don’t Have Any Physical

Nobody disputes the fact that self-examination is good. But not all cancers come as a visible lump. According to experts, Cancers are classified as either liquid or solid.

The solid cancers are the most common one and they are associated with the breast and prostate. Liquid, on the other hand, are present in blood cancers like Leukemia and are less noticeable.

#6. If You Have A Tumor You Have A Cancer

It still baffles me how people use Tumor and cancer interchangeably. Cancer is a group of diseases that cause abnormal cell growth. While Tumor refers to the mass of tissues that form when the body’s cell divide too much.

#7. The Symptoms Of Cancer Are Obvious

This is very untrue. Some patients with cancer don’t experience any symptoms at all. Again, it depends on the type of cancer. For instance, cough is the most common symptoms of lungs cancer. But there are patients with it that never coughed until they are diagnosed.

Also, blood in the stool is a common symptom for colon cancer. But there are patients who never experienced this and they have it. You see, the assumption that cancer symptoms are obvious is a very wrong one and it happens to be one of the misinformation people have about cancer.

#8. Eating Sugar Can Make Cancer Worse

Another misconception about cancer. What do you expect in an era when Dr. Google has suddenly become the highest medical authority…

Some people believe that taking sugar will fuel the growth of cancer. This has made several cancer patients be living a sugar-free diet lifestyle they don’t need to follow.

Breaking news…Cancer patients can eat sugar and it doesn’t fuel the growth of the disease.

#9. Everyone With Cancer Loses Their Hair

Let me confess “ I used to believe that everyone with cancer loses ther hair, until I read it somewhere”. The truth is that not everybody with cancer goes bald.

Most cancer patients that lose their hair could be due to treatment. For instance, if they have radiation to the brain, they may have hair loss. Again, chemotherapy and hormonal agents can cause hair loss.

And cancer patients who have chemotherapy may lose their hair for a few months and then it comes back. ..

Cancer Healed with no medicine, only God!

I worked for the department of corrections for 30 years as a teacher and had just retired. Right after my retirement, I noticed blood in my urine and was diagnosed with stage 2 bladder cancer with very aggressive cancer cells. I was advised by my doctor that because the cancer was extremely aggressive, they suggested the total removal of my bladder and prostate within two weeks. I was told the surgery would be 8 to 9 hours with a 6 to 8 month recovery period. I had a large tumor on my bladder and it had spread into the muscle tissue and the prostrate had cancer as well.
My brother and a close friend of his met me one morning for breakfast and Bruce Van Natta came with them to pray for me. My brother told me about Bruce’s story so I was excited to meet him. After we finished eating Bruce asked if he could lay hands on me and pray. Bruce lifted up his shirt and showed me his scars after sharing his incredible story.
I sat there as Bruce anointed me with oil and prayed right there amongst everyone in the restaurant. I didn’t feel anything special happen right there and then, however
that evening and into the next day I felt vibration going on in my body especially my lower extremities where the cancer was located, it felt strange. For the next couple of months I began to feel much better. I also changed my diet and started eating better too but I knew something was much different.
On January 5th of 2012 I went to the University Wisconsin Hospital in Madison for a second opinion and to be retested by an oncology specialists. That morning I was given a blood and urine test followed up with a consultation with experts specializing in bladder cancer. I was told that they had reviewed all the tests and reports from my doctors in Green Bay. It was their consensus that it was in my best interest to pursue the recommendation of my doctor in Green Bay and immediately have the surgery. I was also told that I could forgo the painful retest based on the previous reports and because of the fact it was a very aggressive cancer, they were anxious to do surgery and chemo. I insisted that they scope my bladder again just to make sure.
This is where it gets really interesting, during the test the doctor scoped my bladder then called another doctor in to take a look. After 15 minutes he called in a third doctor who while scoping kept whispering to the others. After the procedure they told me because it was so late in the day, they would call me the next day with the results. The following day I was informed by the specialist that the options we discussed yesterday were still open, but the Dr. went on to say that my bladder looked really good and there was no cancer there now, my urine had no traces of blood or bacteria, and that it was their consensus that I wouldn’t need the surgery based on their new observation that the tumors were gone. They suggested I still consider chemo and radiation as a precautionary measure because of the cancer that was originally there but had now vanished. I said no way, I know what chemo and radiation does to the body!
It has been a year and I feel the best I have every felt in my life. With changing my diet and eating healthy, I have lost 50 lbs now. Everyone comments on how good I look and how great my skin looks. My blood pressure is in a normal range, and my cholesterol and sugar are normal as well. During one of my tests they said I had the arteries and blood of a 25 year old. I thank God for that day and the willingness of Bruce to take time out and meet and pray with me, I am forever blessed and grateful. One fact I do know, Jesus heals.
