Simple. Considering Nigerian traffic, they're the BEST. If you're a sales person, wouldn't you sell your product (in this case, ad space) to the highest bidder? |

Politics / Nigeria's President Buhari Warned By First Lady - BBC by NetnaijaCom(m): 4:04am On Oct 14, 2016 |
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari's wife has warned him that she may not back him at the next election unless he shakes up his government. In a BBC interview, Aisha Buhari said the president "does not know" most of the top officials he has appointed. She suggested the government had been hijacked, saying a "few people" were behind presidential appointments. Mr Buhari was elected last year with a promise to tackle corruption and nepotism in government. His wife's decision to go public with her concerns will shock many people, but it shows the level of discontent with the president's leadership, says the BBC's Naziru Mikailu in the capital, Abuja. The president famously remarked at his inauguration that he "belongs to nobody and belongs to everybody". In the interview with Naziru Mikailu, Mrs Buhari said: "The president does not know 45 out of 50, for example, of the people he appointed and I don't know them either, despite being his wife of 27 years." She said people who did not share the vision of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) were now appointed to top posts because of the influence a "few people" wield. "Some people are sitting down in their homes folding their arms only for them to be called to come and head an agency or a ministerial position." Asked to name those who had hijacked the government, she refused, saying: "You will know them if you watch television." On whether the president was in charge, she said: "That is left for the people to decide." Mrs Buhari said her husband had not told her whether he would contest the 2019 election. "He is yet to tell me but I have decided as his wife, that if things continue like this up to 2019, I will not go out and campaign again and ask any woman to vote like I did before. I will never do it again." Asked what she regarded as the government's major achievement, she said it was to improve security in the north-east where militant Islamist group Boko Haram has waged an insurgency since 2009. "No-one is complaining about being attacked in their own homes. Thankfully everyone can walk around freely, go to places of worship, etc. Even kids in Maiduguri have returned to schools," Mrs Buhari said, referring to the city which was once the headquarters of the militant group. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-37642282 |
Phones / How To Transfer Files Wirelessly Across Android, Ios, Windows, Linux & Mac Devic by NetnaijaCom(m): 1:18pm On Oct 07, 2016 |
Have you ever been in the position of wanting to wirelessly send files between one or more of your devices no matter the operating system? Be it Android, iOS, Windows Phone, Windows 7/8/10, Mac, Linux and you couldn’t find a working solution? Well, lemme introduce you to the world of Feem. Feem is a software application available for all of the above mentioned operating systems and let’s you transfer files wirelessly using a Wi-Fi connection irrespective of internet connectivity. The only requirement for Feem aside the app being installed on both devices is that the devices you wish to send files between are connected to the same Wi-Fi network. On Android, turning on your Wi-Fi hotspot (whether or not mobile data is turned on) and connecting other devices to it works too. If you use a MiFi device or a Wi-Fi router, all well and good. Phones / How To Opt Out Of Whatsapp Sharing Your Data With Facebook by NetnaijaCom(m): 5:50pm On Aug 25, 2016 |
In case you missed it, WhatsApp will henceforth share your private data with Facebook. In this post, we'll be guiding you through opting out of the bond if you already opted-in or prevent you from opting in altogether. WhatsApp details two ways to opt out of sharing data for Facebook ad targeting on its blog here. Firstly if you haven't already agreed to the new T&Cs you can opt out before agreeing to the new terms by tapping to read the full terms of service and privacy policy - and scrolling to a control at the bottom of the document - where there's a check-box option for sharing the data which you then untick before hitting agree... If you've already accepted the new T&Cs without unchecking the box to share your information with Facebook, don't fret, WhatsApp is also offering a thirty-day window to make the same choice - via the settings page in the app. To exercise your opt out in this scenario you need to go to Settings > Account > Share my account info in the app and uncheck the box/toggle the control displayed there. There you go, no more data collection by the data mining Facebook! Source: @netnaija |
Phones / Whatsapp Will Now Share User's Personal Data With Facebook by NetnaijaCom(m): 5:22pm On Aug 25, 2016 |
This was bound to happen. It was predicted when Facebook acquired WhatsApp that this would inevitably happen and the company has indeed confirmed it today. WhatsApp will start sharing user data with Facebook. This includes sharing users’ phone numbers to provide them with “better friend suggestions” as well as “relevant ads.” Facebook is the world’s largest social network and if you use it, chances are it already has quite a bit of your data, and now it’s going to get even more. WhatsApp says that it will share basic metrics about the app with Facebook, metrics like how often people use the app. Sharing users’ phone numbers with Facebook will enable the social network to provide better friends suggestions and relevant ads. In its blog post announcing the changes to its privacy policy, WhatsApp reiterated its resolve to keeping users’ conversations secure and private. It said that even as it coordinates more with Facebook, users’ encrypted messages will remain private and no one else will be able to read them, not WhatsApp, and definitely not Facebook. The change is being made to enable users to communicate with businesses that matter to them. It provides an example of hearing from your bank about a potentially fraudulent transaction or getting notifications from an airline about a delayed flight. Facebook has been testing these integrations with Messenger and the data sharing between the two companies will enable WhatsApp to start offering similar integrations. - UberGizmo | @netnaija |

Leicester City’s new signing, Ahmed Musa, grabbed a brace on his debut but his goals could not help the Foxes overcome Barcelona’s firepower in their final International Champions Cup clash. The Foxes were trailing the Spanish giants 3-0 at the end of the first half after goals from Munir, who grabbed a brace, and Suarez. The Nigerian international, a 46th minute substitute, brought spark to the English Premier League champions scoring twice in quick succession to threaten a remarkable comeback. Barca’s Rafa Mujica, however, restored a two-goal advantage with a late strike. The 2016 International Champions Cup friendly football match held at Friends Arena on in Solna, Sweden. Politics / APC Blames Niger Delta Avengers’ Attacks On PDP by NetnaijaCom(m): 7:41pm On Jun 05, 2016 |
The South-South Zone of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has blamed the current attacks on oil installations in the Niger Delta region on the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying the attacks are sponsored to derail President Muhammadu Buhari’s government. The APC stakeholders who also praised Governor Adams Oshiomhole for his “commendable performance” in the delivery of infrastructure noted that the June 18 primary of the party in the state will be free and fair. In a communiqué, party leaders from the five states in the South–South at a Stakeholders meeting in Benin City, weekend, noted that it is erroneous for agitators for the state of Biafra to categorise any part of the South-South as part of constituency, saying the “Niger Delta is not, cannot, and will never be part of Biafra”. The communiqué reads in part: “The Zone commends the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on his performance in his first year in office, support his fight against corruption and his effort to restructure the country’s dwindling economy and building a viable Nigeria. “The Zone acknowledges the commendable performance of the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole in the delivery of infrastructure and other dividends of governance to the good people of Edo State. “The Zone notes the upsurge of the renewed militancy in the area, in the name of ‘The Avengers’ and condemns its activities in its entirety. The Zone does not believe that their nefarious activities are driven by any patriotic fervor, rather we have cause to believe that they are instigated by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party to derail President Buhari’s government in order to avoid the long arm of the law on their criminal activities while in government. “The Zone notes the present agitation for the State of Biafra and the inclusion of the Niger Delta in the map of the constituency representing the Biafra State. “The Zone states unequivocally that Niger Delta is not, cannot, will never be and can never be part of Biafra” The South-South APC also urged the national secretariat of the party to provide a level-playing field for all aspirants of the party in Edo State while it praised President Muhammadu Buhari for commencing the clean-up of Ogoniland as recommended by UNEP. Earlier, the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole had assured that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will conduct free and fair primaries in the state. He said: “in the contest of the forthcoming election, I am happy that we have some of the aspirants in this room. I have spoken to them over and again. Our party has a tradition; elections are conducted by the national body, not by the state chapter of the party. And we are fortunate to have at the national body the very head coming from Edo State. So, the primary should be free and fair. It is not a choice. It is not a favour.” On his part, National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun who was represented on the occasion by the Deputy National Chairman, Engr. Segun Oni said, “we are the incumbent government here, and as the incumbent government, our government has done very well. so, we can campaign in the name of the government, and we know the reaction of the people will be positive. In spite of this, we will not rest on our oars. We know that the opposition has reduced itself to a rag-tag army. As at the last count, they already have about three and half chief executives already running the party together.” He continued, “I am sure a state that is as sophisticated as Edo State, and its people who have always been in the forefront in the fight for liberty, the fight for progressive politics cannot put their destiny in the hands of people who cannot manage themselves. Therefore, we know when the time comes, they will only be regarded as jokers. Therefore, it is a done deal, but we will not rest on our oars.” National Vice-Chairman, South-South, of the party, Prince Hilliard Eta said, “While celebrating a distinguished Governor and the party in Edo, this gathering of progressives today should be used as a unique occasion for reflecting on the successful consummation of the merger process of the legacy parties that formed our great party and the journey so far. It is also an opportunity to put our immediate past in perspective to remind ourselves of the obligations and assurances we have given and would have to continue to give to Nigerians as we assume the onerous task of fixing the country.” He said, “Let me urge all the aspirants that are contesting the party primaries to play by the rules; there should be no campaign of calumny, no fighting, and no bigotry. As we go into the primary election, one mindset is real, one of you will emerge and whoever that person is, he is a candidate of all and his subsequent victory will be for all. For us as a party, we want to come back to Edo, have a roundtable with all of the aspirants and the candidate and decide on how to jointly move Edo forward from where Governor Oshiomhole has left it.” http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/06/apc-blames-avengers-attacks-pdp-celebrates-oshiomhole/ |

Crime / South African With Cocaine In Bra Arrested At Lagos Airport | Photo by NetnaijaCom(m): 7:11am On Jun 05, 2016 |
An attempt by a South African woman to smuggle 1.210kg cocaine from Nigeria to her home country was yesterday foiled by anti-narcotics officials. The 34 year-old apprentice chef was arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, in the process of boarding a Johannesburg-bound plane. She allegedly concealed the substance packed in two parcels in her brassiere. The drug was detected by a female operative of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during passengers’ screening. NDLEA commander at the airport, Ahmadu Garba gave the suspect’s name as Lekganyane Lerato. Garba said “The suspect was intercepted during routine screening of passengers on South African airline. The drug was neatly concealed but certainly not good enough to escape our notice. She is currently under investigation and will be charged to court very soon.” The suspect said that she was lured into drug trafficking by friends. She said she “never imagined that the drug would be detected because it was carefully concealed inside my brassiere. A female officer requested to feel my boobs that was how the cocaine was detected. My travel expenses were handled by the sponsor who promised to pay me $3,000 when I get to Johannesburg but all my dreams have been dashed following my arrest” Lerato lamented. NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Col. Muhammad Mustapha Abdallah (rtd.) expressed optimism that the chances of being caught with drugs are getting higher in the country. “Daily arrest of drug traffickers has validated our superiority. Drug trafficking organisations may try their best but they will end up in prison custody.” http://thenationonlineng.net/south-african-caught-cocaine-mmia/ |
Politics / Soldiers Invade Kurutie - Tompolo's Town In Six Gunboats, Molest Civilians by NetnaijaCom(m): 10:31am On May 30, 2016 |
SOLDIERS swooped on Kurutie (Little London), another community in Gbaramatu kingdom, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State, in six gunboats at about 4.30 am, today (Monday) , hunting for members of the Niger Delta Avengers. The residents were asleep when they came, but many scampered into the bush when heard the sound of the gunboats. The soldiers, who quickly cordoned the community, embarked on a house to house search. “I am looking at the soldiers from a hideout in the bush, they are going from house to house. We know their tactics, so we ran away when they landed this morning at the jetty in the town, belonging to Tompolo’s father,” an informant told Vanguard on phone at about 5.30am. Tompolo has repeatedly denied having any link with the Niger Delta Avengers, but the military seemed to disbelieve him , and were chasing him. It was gathered that Tompolo’s father was not in Kurutie when soldiers stormed the town this morning, but an over 70-year-old man, simply identified as Do Good Ikekama, is among the citizens allegedly molested and forced to take the soldiers around some homes. Ijaw leader, Chief Godspower Gbenekama, who spoke to Vanguard at about 6.00 am, confirmed the siege to Kurutie. He said that despite the appeal by the Gbaramatu monarch, HRM Oboro Gbaraun II, to the Coordinator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Brigadier General Paul Boroh (retd) that the soldiers should be professional in their duties, they were still harassing people. However, the soldiers, according to reports, left the community at about 6.30am . http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/05/soldiers-invade-kurutie-tompolos-real-town/ |
Politics / Re: President Buhari's Federal Excuses Council By Reno Omokri by NetnaijaCom(m): 9:36am On May 30, 2016 |
I was disappointed not getting to see the list of people who stole from Nigeria and now they say they would release the loots but wouldn't mention the names, of what use is that to me? Sometimes I wonder how GEJ, with the amount of corruption Buhari an His Federal Excuses Council are forcing down our throats, was able to rule successfully without causing sufferings on the innocent masses. Now we're comparing GEJ's first year to Buhari's first year, compared to the available things on ground GEJ achieved, it's a shame that the one fight against corruption Buhari has been preaching since he assumed office, we have not seen any effect, even common list he promised us since, we didn't get any. Sincerely I thought Buhari was going to do way better, but it seems I thought wrong. He's just successfully increasing his list of failed promises daily. 5 Likes |
Phones / Etisalat Increases Charge On Airtime Borrowing by NetnaijaCom(m): 9:09pm On May 25, 2016 |
While almost every commodity out there seem to have significantly increased in price, same cannot be said about telecommunication subscriptions/charges...well, until now. While the heavy data users are still consoling themselves over the increment in Airtel's night data plans which got a whooping 500% increase from N200/3hrs to N1000 amidst other increased plans, Etisalat has increased the service charge on their borrowing system which takes effect tomorrow, May 26th 2016. Initially subscribers were charged 10% of the amount requested as service charge but now, it's been increased to 15%. This means for every N100 you borrow, you'll be charged N15. So if you borrow N1000, you'll be paying N150 as service charge. Never really been a fan of the borrowing system by network providers and this development means any chance of maybe using that if Etisalat is dented. What's your take on this? http://www./forum/phone-computer/mobile/25209-etisalat-increases-charge-airtime-borrowing |

Phones / Google Launches Allo, A 'smarter' Messaging Platform; Duo, A Video Calling App by NetnaijaCom(m): 8:40pm On May 18, 2016 |
A report from yesterday hinted that Google could be looking to hop on board the chatbot bandwagon, in which the end result would be similar to what Facebook has done with their Messenger platform. It seems that the rumors were true because Google has since announced a new messaging platform called Allo. At its core, Allo is another messaging platform in which users can chat with each other. However Google has placed a lot of emphasis on how the app will allow users to be more expressive thanks to stickers and emojis designed by artists around the world. They have also introduced features like whisper and shout, which basically allows users to determine how big the text size of a reply is. There is also a built-in image editor that lets users edit images within the app and send it without having to leave the chat. The idea behind it is to ensure that users won’t need to keep swapping apps, which brings us to Google Assistant. Allo will come with Google Assistant built into it and will allow users to make restaurant bookings and ask it all kinds of questions, like sports scores updates, trivia, and even play games. The app will also feature the same smart reply function found in Inbox by Gmail. This allows for quicker replies and the best part is that it will learn your chat habits and over time, it will offer up replies that will sound like it came from you, not via machine learning. The smart reply feature is so smart that it can actually identify photos as well, like a breed of a dog, a dish, and its ingredients. There is even an incognito mode which ensures that users can keep chats private. There will be end-to-end encryption and messages that are deleted will stay deleted forever. Users can even set messages to expire. In addition to Allo, Google also announced Duo. This is an accompanying app to Allo and is essentially a video calling app. One of the features of Duo is called Knock Knock. This will show users a live preview of the person calling even before you answer. Google has also emphasized how there will not be a delay between the call and the answering of the call. Both Allo and Duo will be available on iOS and Android and will be seeing a release this coming summer. http://net.netfiles.ng/forum/phone-computer/tech-news/25024-google-launches-allo-smarter-messaging-platform-duo-video-calling |
