Baales in Ogun State have voiced their grievances, over the receipt of #16m being released by His Excellency for their monthly stipends despite regular releases by Governor Abiodun.


Frustration has been mounting among these leaders as they claim that while the governor has been making timely payments, most of them are not receiving their rightful entitlements.

There are four traditional councils in the state- Egba Tradition Council, Yewa Tradition Council, Ijebu Tradition Council and Remo Traditional Council.

Narrating their ordeal, while speaking to journalists in Abeokuta, the state capital yesterday, President of The Ogun State Councils of Baales, Tunji Falola, debunked rumor that Governor Dapo Abiodun has not been paying the 1,600 registered Baales in the state as promised.

He recalled that the governor began the release of N16 million monthly stipend for all the registered Baales in the four traditional areas of the State in February 2023 after their council had appealed for it.

Making further revelation, the President disclosed that the Remo Traditional Council started paying its Baales #15000 per baale per quarter upon receiving the first grant from the Ogun State government. Yewa and Ijebu paid a few selected baales for two months. The story is not different in Egba.

Falola lamented that the baales later discovered that the state government had been releasing their monthly stipends regularly up till the month of October 2023.

He said several appeals had been made in terms of correspondence to the governor about the plight of baales.

Then came December 15 last year, we had our oko’ilu day. It is a congress of all Baales in Ogun state. In my opening address at that occasion, we requested four things from the state government.

One, we asked the governor to sponsor that occasion which he did instantly. We pleaded for vehicles, monthly stipends and a secretariat accommodation to enhance the administrative continuity of the association of Baales.

The traditional rulers are fathers to Baales. They appoint baales and give us the impetus to exist. Rather than saddle them with the responsibility of collating a statistical data for baales, we commenced the registration of baales in 2020 using only one criterion : presentation of a certificate of appointment issued by a prescribed authourity, an Oba. This has resulted in several "unknown" baales rushing to their Obas to legitimise their appointments. As at today, there are 784 registered Baales, in Egba, 315 in Ijebu, 468 in Yewa, and 149 in Remo.
We appeal to our traditional rulers and the State government to save our souls.

The Kwara State High Court sitting in Ilorin, the state capital, has sentenced a traditional ruler and two others to life imprisonment for conspiracy and kidnapping.

Those convicted are the Sarkin Fulani of Kwara, Usman Adamu; his brother; and one Gidaddo Idris.

They were tried and convicted of kidnapping one Abubakar Ahmad in 2022.

The convicts were said to have collected a ransom of N1 million before releasing their victim, who spent 20 days in captivity.

The Kwara State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Idowu Ayoola, brought the monarch and two others before the court for alleged conspiracy to kidnap.

Delivering judgement on Thursday, the presiding judge, Justice Adenike Akinpelu, held that evidence adduced by the prosecution proved that all three accused persons connived to commit the crime.

The judge said the argument about whether or not they were physically present at the scene of the crime was immaterial.

Justice Akinpelu declared that the convicts “supposedly arrested their victim claiming that he was a kidnap suspect to extort money from him”.

She added: “I am not persuaded by the submissions of counsel to the defendants to dismiss the two-count charge against them based on the fact that they were not at the scene of the incident.

“It is saddening and disturbing that community leaders charged with the welfare of their subjects could because of the love of money, breach the security of the same subjects.

“They are hereby found guilty as charged and are so convicted.”

After listening to the convicts’ allocutus, the judge said: “By Section 15 of the state Anti Kidnapping Law, the court cannot exercise any discretion of leniency.

“So, you are hereby sentenced to life imprisonment. The sentence is to run concurrently.”

Justice Akinpelu also ordered the convicts to pay N600,000 to the victim of the abduction as damages.

Equipment worth 1.2 million euros will be imported to effect maintenance on Eko Bridge in Lagos, minister of works, Sen. David Umahi says.

Clement Ezeorah, assistant director, information, at the federal ministry of works made this known in a statement he issued on Sunday in Abuja.

He stated that the minister made the declaration when he paid a working visit to the Third Mainland Bridge, Carter, Falomo, Iddo, Eko, Marina and Iganmu bridges in Lagos State.

He added that the minister inspected the bridges on Saturday alongside some directors in the ministry and contractors.

Mr Ezeorah quoted the minister as saying that the deck on Eko Bridge would be opened to effect the maintenance.

Mr Umahi commended President Buhari’s administration’s work on bridges, noting that the Second Mainland Bridge, also known as Eko Bridge suffer two problems.

“Eko Bridge suffers two problems – the lack of maintenance, and the eating up of the bearings. There are lots of pair gaps, but the last administration did very good and wonderful work.

“Work is ongoing; it will be completed in 2024 because we are pushing for an increase in the number of workers and equipment to site.

“Without Eko Bridge, we will not have any truck coming into Lagos Island,’’ the minister said.

Mr Ezeorah stated also that Mr Umahi said the Third Mainland Bridge, built in two sections, required comprehensive maintenance, particularly by the federal government.

The minister noted that the deflection on the bridge was caused by the lack of maintenance by successive federal government administrations preceding that of Mr Buhari.

He noted also that the facility, however, received attention from the state government since President Bola Tinubu became governor of Lagos State.

The Phase One of the 11.8km Third Mainland Bridge was inaugurated by President Shehu Shagari in 1980 and completed by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990.

It is the third bridge connecting Lagos Island to the Mainland. The two other bridges connecting the two parts are the Second Mainland Bridge and Carter Bridge.

Mr Umahi thanked Mr Tinubu and the National Assembly for looking at infrastructure in Lagos State strategically.

He noted that Lagos State was the financial capital of the country which had lots of national infrastructure that tremendously added to the country’s GDP and should not be neglected.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been advised to sign an Executive Order on unexplained wealth by Nigerians.
The Senator representing Borno South in the 10th National Assembly, Ali Ndume, gave the advice during an interview on Channels Television on Sunday, October 29, 2023.

Ndume believes there is a need for laws that will compel any individual with no verifiable source of wealth to explain themselves to the authorities, stressing that similar laws operate in the United Kingdom and other countries to tackle corruption.

Talking about his previous efforts to introduce a similar piece of legislature in Nigeria, the lawmaker said, “I have tried several times, but you know, there were excuses here and there.”

He, therefore, proposed that the executive should lead the effort to make such laws while urging Tinubu to sign an executive order regarding that in the interim.

He added: “I think the best way to get this across is when the bill comes from the executive or in the interim, the current president should sign an executive bill on unexplained wealth.”

Ndume stressed that the level of unexplained wealth in the country, especially among politicians and civil servants, remains alarming, and some laws are needed to combat that.

He “I know of civil servants that live in houses that not only their income, their salaries, or their life pension – assuming they would live in this world for 90 years or 100 years – cannot buy.

“The same thing with some of our politicians, especially the politically exposed persons like ministers, you find, as you rightly said, some of them come to the National Assembly, and suddenly there is so much money,” he noted.

The Senate Chief Whip also called on Nigerians to demand better accountability from public officials while reiterating that politicians are public servants.

“The public are those that are supposed to put us on our toes to represent them and account for our actions,” he added.

The Board of Directors of Premier Breweries Plc Onitsha in Anambra State has reiterated its commitment in reactivation of the Brewery.The Board made this statement to debunk the rumours that the company is up for sales. The Board emphasised that the company is in talks with different technical partners from Brazil,Germany, Bulgaria, and Italy but has not finalised any agreement. The Board in a public notice issued to press through it's Attorney Dr Anthony Orunkoya Esq,stated that there was set back in the reactivation process being carried out due to some policy issues hence the need for seeking new technical partners to complete the reactivation.The Board refused to disclose the identity of any of the prospective partners.Some of the prospective technical partners were companies that attended the Brazilian Business Summit to mark the Bicentenary Independence Celebration of Brazil in Lagos.

Last August, the Federal Government announced a N5 billion palliative for each state of the federation, including the Federal Capital Territory, to cushion the impact of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

It is instructive to note that the federal government was specific in saying that the palliative is not meant for everybody but for the most vulnerable people in various communities across the country. The term, 'poorest of the poor' was used in some instances to categorize those who should benefit.

The government of Prince Dapo Abiodun in Ogun state has been severally lauded at home and abroad for its way of sharing the state's share of the federal government palliatives. For one, Governor Abiodun made it clear to everybody involved in sharing the palliatives that it must get to the intended beneficiaries.

But in spite of the painstaking effort of the government in Ogun state to ensure that the palliatives get to the right beneficiaries promptly, some people are unrelenting in their bids to tar the administration with negative brushes for reasons not beyond politics.

This explains the case of the man in this video who claims to be a Community Development Association chairman somewhere in the state. Taking to social media and throwing cautions to the wind, he betrayed the posture of a man out to do mischief so as to score cheap political gains.

His narrative that the bag of rice he was holding was meant for the whole community is an old bead of lies that has constantly been confirmed to be untrue as he would not be the first rabble-rouser to spin that web of lies.

For the umpteenth time, need we repeat it that the bag of rice is meant for ONE vulnerable family in the community, and not for all resident of the community, including this chubby looking CDA chairman and his likes.

Checks revealed that that bag of rice was actually sent to Mr. CDA chairman to.for onward transfer to a vulnerable widow in his community. But instead of doing just that, ensuring the intended beneficiary gets the grains at the right time, he chose to play politics with the palliative .

It is still left to be imagined how some fifth columnists can openly express their expectations that the government should provide grains for all families everywhere in Nigeria. Or how else can one explain this man's disappointment that Ogun state.did not providing enough bags of rice that would go round every family in his community?

It is obvious that no amount of explanations would have prevented this man from carrying out the hatchet job he did with his social media skit using the palliative meant for a poor widow and her children. He would not be the first to be carried away by the allures of social media in his Obafemi Owode LGA.,.in fact in his very ward.

Another CDA boss who had made similar remarks was to later recant his claims, saying he later discovered that many bags of rice were shared in his community while the one given to him was meant for just one vulnerable family. It has similarly been established that numerous other bags of rice have been sent to beneficiaries in Shokeye community through other stakeholders aside from Mr. Chairman. Sadly, he chose to play the usual dirty politics of his political party on social media.

Suffice us to tell him that it is impossible to secure the politics victory they could not win at the polls and at the tribunal through the backdoor by hoodwinking the people of Ogun State with lies and half truths on social media. And playing the roles of fifth columnists with the well thought put palliative arrangement in the state will not endear him and his defeated political party to the good people.of the state.

While we call on the good people of the state to ignore the antics of these rabble-rousers and their sponsors, we urge law enforcement agents to start considering possible punitive measure against people who use the social media to intentionally mislead the public.

Equity Concepts Entertainment boss, Rowland Okorie is set to take the Republic of Ireland by storm with his history making initiative, Project NWAFOR Igbo.

Project NWAFOR Igbo will imprint its footprints on the soil of Ireland and history of mankind as the dreadlock Global President will be presenting two papers during the education seminar and interactive session titled: "Project NWAFOR Igbo, Positioning For Greatness and Africa, Plugging Into The Global Economy."

Rowland, in a short interview with us makes bold to say that making racism history is the best theme for this year's event.

According to him; "It simply means inhumanity to man by man and it is a scourge to humanity that manifests in various forms. Over in Nigeria racism has two kids namely tribalism and marginilsation and the Igbo tribe has suffered this for years."

Rowland said; "The only way we see forward is economic emancipation and this can be achieved via alliance with other freedom and forward looking nations."

Part of the programmes lined up for this year's Black History Month are lectures, exhibitions, performances and educational activities which are just a small selection of things taking place as more events aim to explore a myriad of topics, with a focus on art, literature, activism, politics and music.

These activities are a fantastic way for visitors and participants to improve their knowledge of Black History Month whilst promoting the important event.

The overarching goal of Black History Month is to enhance understanding, conversations and awareness of Black history, as well as the ongoing struggles that Black communities are faced with.

"Project NWAFOR Igbo's unavoidable presence at this year's event will mark the visible line of partnership as we plan to network with our brothers on the Irish soil," says Rowland Okorie.

"We plan to use them as a point of contact to give us insight into the realities in Irish communities. As you know there is no where in the world with a thriving economy that you will not see an Igbo man."

The tribunal had affirmed Abiodun’s re-election in the last general election.

The community leader said Abiodun deserves the victory having worked very hard.

He also rejoiced with the leadership of APC in Ogun State.

Chief Fadipe  said the judgment again confirmed the confidence the people of the state have in the ruling APC by re-electing Governor Abiodun.

He hailed the judiciary, especially members of the tribunal, for delivering justice “diligently, thereby protecting our democracy, due process and the rule of law.

He therfore called on the people of Ogun State to continue to support Governor Abiodun with prayers as to take the state to a greater height.

An Iroko, Sir Mark Onyejiji, Has Gone To Be With The Lord A great son of Itu Agunaeze, Ahiara Ahiazu Mbaise, Sir Mark Chukwunyere Onyejiji has gone to glory. He was a respected retired Police Officer who trained his two brothers and made sure they became successful. Sir Mark Chukwunyere Onyejiji was born in 1931, he died on July 31, 2023 spending 92 successful years on earth.

He served with the British Police’s Peacekeeping Force in Congo. He was the Chairman of a key Igbo societal structure, Ndi Apara ( a group strictly for the first sons of every family. He was the Chairman of CMO in Itu Agunaeze and Commander General of Knight of St. John . He also served as Chairman of the Parish Council for 12 years.

In giving back to the society, he fixed many of his people in the Nigerian Police Force . This great man was one of the first people to erect a glass house. His younger brother His Royal Highness, Eze Engineer Cosmas Onyejiji did not mince words while eulogizing him. “My elder brother was not a greedy person.

He was someone who wanted light to come into his family and community. He used the money he earned from his service in the Police Force to train me and my other brother. He served his family and people very well. His time has come and he has gone to rest with the Lord. We pray God accepts his soul and gives his immediate family and the entire Onyejiji family the heart to bear this loss .We will miss him a lot “. His sister-in-law ( ) also prayed that God accept his gentle soul. She praised his caring and unifying personality.

According to her, Sir Mark as he is fondly called, was a unifier and a father figure. Speaking about his father, Kenneth Chimaoge Onyejiji, said his father loved his wife,Mrs. Thereza Chukwunyere Onyejiji who died 4 years ago, his family members, and everybody he came across, dearly. He said his father lived a fulfilled life, travelled round the world and taught them that the keys to success are education and patience.

He added that Sir Mark also taught them the power of love, unity, forgiveness, and the fear of God. Chief Okechukwu Onyejiji, his second son, appealed to his loved ones not to weep because his father was a man who expressed true love and received love from his people. Sir Mark Onyejiji is survived by his 11 children- two boys and 9 girls . They are : Scholastica Obiagaeli Emenayo nee Onyejiji, Lilian Nkechinyere Nwabuisi nee Onyejiji, Maureen Uche nee Onyejiji, Emerobi Ekeanyawu nee Onyejiji, Kenneth Chimaroge Onyejiji, Akunna Ofurom nee Onyejiji, Chief Okechukwu Onyejiji, late Ifeyinwa Onyejiji, Okwuchi Orji nee Onyejiji, Ijeoma Onyengwere nee Onyeji, Obianuju Onyejiji. Birth and Parents
Born on January 14th, 1967, she hails from the family of the late Reverend Daniel Uzuazano Akporero and the late Mrs. Florence O. Akporero. Her parents originated from the Ozoro community in present-day Delta State, Southern Nigeria. It is important to note that her parents were individuals of great honor and deeply committed to their faith. The late Reverend Daniel Uzuazano Akporero was a remarkable communicator in the English language and a highly regarded educator who left a lasting impact in the Mid-West region of Nigeria. Alongside him, her late mother was also a prolific teacher.

Together, they lived as shining examples of the Christian faith, steadfastly following the teachings of Jesus Christ until their passing. (For additional details, please refer to the biographies of late Reverend Daniel Uzuazano Akporero and the late Mrs. Florence O. Akporero).

Her Education
She was born into an academically oriented family, which afforded her the privilege of commencing her education at an early age. Her educational journey began at Ezoti Primary School in Benin City, part of the former Bendel State, spanning from 1974 to 1979, culminating in the attainment of her First School Leaving Certificate. Following this, she enrolled at Idia College in Benin City from 1980 to 1984, where she obtained her West Africa Secondary Certificate (O’Level). During her time at Idia College, she held several notable positions, including President of the Press Club from 1982 to 1984, Senior Prefect in 1983 and 1984, and Secretary of the Literary and Debating Society from 1982 to 1983.

Subsequently, she pursued a Certificate in Theater Arts in 1987. After completing her O’Level education in 1984 and obtaining her certificate in 1987, she gained admission to the esteemed University of Port Harcourt. Between 1986 and 1992, she pursued a degree in Theater Arts, earning a Bachelor of Arts (Theater Arts) upon graduation. Her time at the University of Port Harcourt was marked by active involvement in student unionism, where she became a prominent advocate for the welfare of her fellow students. From 1990 to 1991, she served as the Vice-President of the Student Union and later assumed the role of President from 1991 to 1992. Additionally, she held the position of Vice-President in the Bendel United Students Association.


She continued to pursue her passion for education and personal development by seeking further qualifications. Her academic journey led her to enroll in the Law degree program at the Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt (now Rivers State University) from 2002 to 2006, where she earned her LLB (Hons). Subsequently, she attended the Law School in Bwari, Abuja from 2006 to 2007, culminating in her qualification as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court and Supreme Court of Nigeria.

Josephine Diete-Spiff has a penchant for pushing boundaries and achieving excellence. In her quest for knowledge and expertise, she pursued an MBA at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom, between 2009 and 2011.

Additionally, she obtained her Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) with a focus on Entrepreneurship from Walden University, USA, in 2015. Her dedication to academic pursuits is further underscored by her receipt of an honorary PhD (Philosophy) from Ashland University, Ohio, around 2004.

Her extensive experiences and diverse skill set are immeasurable. She is a certified professional in various fields, having achieved the status of a licensed Management Consultant (IMC) in 2018 through the Institute of Management Consultants.

Furthermore, she holds the title of a chartered banker, certified by the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (CIBN) in 2014. She has also demonstrated a commitment to effective communication, gaining certification in French communication skills after rigorous study at Alliance Française, Port Harcourt, from 2000 to 2001.

In recent years, she has continued to expand her horizons, earning certification as a fitness trainer by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM, CPT) in the USA in 2023.

Job Experiences
Her career journey began in the mid-1980s when she made her mark in the renowned ‘Hotel De Jordan’ and ‘Friday Special’ television drama series, a stint that spanned from 1984 to 1996. These television dramas, broadcasted by the Nigeria Television Authority in Benin, featured notable actors such as Chief Agbonifo Enaruna as Idemudia and David Ariyo as Kokoori, among others, as her co-actors. Simultaneously, she ventured into TV presenting with the same station, hosting ‘Children’s Time,’ a program tailored for children and teenagers.

Josephine Diete-Spiff JP holds the esteemed title of Twon Ibe Opuyingibo, which translates to ‘The Great Mother of Twon Brass Kingdom.’ This title was conferred upon her by her husband, His Eminence King Alfred Papapreye Diete-Spiff CFR, who serves as the Amanyanabo of Twon Brass Kingdom.

In 2011, she made her foray into the world of politics. Her Royal Majesty, Dr. (Barr) Dame Evangelist Josephine Diete-Spiff JP, entered the political arena as a candidate representing the PDP in the Brass/Nembe Constituency of Bayelsa State, running for a seat in the Federal House of Representatives. Despite her diligent efforts, her campaign did not yield success due to the absence of an election process. Instead, the party and the Bayelsa State Governor, Chief Timipre Sylva, chose their preferred candidate. In the same year, she threw her support behind the election campaign of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, doing so through her non-governmental electioneering organization called Zenith Nigeria Group Campaign Organization for Jonathan for President 2011, where she served as the Matron of the NGO.

In addition to her revered role as the Queen of Twon-Brass Kingdom and the Twon Ibe Opuyingibo of Brass Kingdom, Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff maintains a strong and profound connection to the teachings of Christ Jesus. Her spiritual journey aligns with that of her parents, who initially started as Anglicans and eventually embraced the Pentecostal faith.

Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff has remained a loyal member of the Anglican Communion her entire life, actively participating in the spiritual growth of individuals. Her unwavering commitment to the Anglican faith was formally acknowledged in 2006 when she was ordained as an Evangelist within the Anglican Communion. A total of 20 young Bayelsans who were selected in the scholarship examination organized by the Lady Josephine Alfred Diete-Spiff Foundation in collaboration with Nigeria Agip Oil Company for secondary school education, have emerged among best graduating students of their set after six years.


The beneficiaries of the scholarship scheme sponsored by the queen of Twon-Brass Kingdom, Barr. Josephine Alfred Diete-Spiff, were selected five persons each, from the four houses (Ama), that made up Twon-Brass, in a keenly contested examination of over 60 children in 2017, and were subsequently admitted into JSS 1 in Titare Royal Star Academy in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

These were part of the successes recorded over the years by the foundation’s consistent drive to tackle issues of poverty, cultism and gender based violation by educating and empowering the girl and the boy child through enhanced opportunities for
developing talents.

Queen Josephine Alfred Diete-Spiff who doubles as the President of the Queens of the Niger Delta Initiative, congratulated the young graduands on the successful completion of their academic pursuit in the different sectors of the noble star academy, adding that they have proven their worth in character and learning and deserve advancement for their outstanding excellence.

According to her, she has given scholarships to orphans, physically challenged, pastor’s children, foundation member’s children, as donations to clubs and associations and her immediate community.

She said, “This year, like last year is unique to us and my kingdom as among the graduands are 20 children of Twon-Brass Kingdom, taken from each house, six years ago and trained with full educational scholarship, inclusive of free transport, boarding and medicals in partnership with Nigeria Agip Oil Company.

“I am glad to state that this promise was fulfilled, as they came to Titare Star Academy as teens and are leaving as grown teenagers more enlightened, brave, courageous and confident in themselves.

“I hope their achievements will spur them to great heights that will enable them to contribute to the growth and success of Twon-Brass Kingdom. I hope the opportunity they have been given will create a sound foundation for their future.”

Expressing her gratitude to Titare Star Royal Academy, the overall best graduating student, Favour Ongwatabo, said that determination, prayer, seriousness and passion made her to come out with Distinction, both in school and also in the 2023 Post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (Post-UTME).

“I look forward to being a good lawyer and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. I really want to make the law profession to look good because right now it seems as if they are attacking lawyers. I want to change the narrative.

“I want to advice young girls out there to be serious, don’t allow your parents lack of money to discourage you because this economy is bad for everybody. Just make your parents proud, don’t disappoint them. Never lose focus, just have a goal and make sure you have passion for your goal”, she said.

Olali Miracle Karina who is a beneficiary of the scholarship, said that the school really built her up in terms of standard, discipline, boundaries, how to make rules for herself and achieve them, humility and spirituality.

“We always pray, they taught us to love God, there is so much to talk about the school. I did not really had the confidence I was going to make it, I was actually anxious but I prepared very well”, she said.

Another beneficiary, Numomoipre Biodoumoye, said he was small, timid, and not really outspoken, adding that with the help of many factors, “all those things changed”.

“The part I like the most about the school is the academic aspect. It has made me to believe that I am heading somewhere. I know it is not going to be an easy journey but I truly believe that using all that I was taught, I can achieve greatness”, he said.

Speaking on behalf of the parents, Mrs Hope Christian, said her feeling towards the school and the role Queen Josephine Diete-Spiff had played in training these children cannot really be expressed with words alone.

“I am grateful for what she has done for my child and the other children. Our children have embarked on a fruitful journey throughout their secondary school. The school has really nurtured them and I deeply believe they are one step closer to their greatness”, she said.

Edo residents who are elated by the free bus service by the Edo State Government have commended the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, for always putting the people at the forefront of his government’s decisions and policies.

They noted that the policy will in no small measure cushion the impact of the fuel subsidy removal by the Federal Government on thousands of households in the State.

Obaseki had recently approved free transport service for passengers on all routes operated by the state-owned Edo City Transport Ltd (ECTS), which commences.

The service which spans an initial two-month period covers commuting within the Benin metropolis and from Benin City to the major cities in the three senatorial districts and will run between 6.30 am and 7 pm daily.

The transport scheme is expected to cover intra-city and intercity routes including Auchi - Igalla - Ibillo–Ososo; Uzebba–Ikhin – Otuo, and Abudu-Ubiaja, Abudu-Urhonigbe and Ewohirin to Ewatto.

The intra-city routes are Ramat–Kingsquare; New Benin–Kingsquare; Kingsquare – Ekenwan Road; Kingsquare–Airport Road; Kingsquare–Sapele Road and Kingsquare – Adesuwa, Kingsquare–Ogida; New Benin – Upper Mission; Kingsquare–Ugbowo; Kingsquare–Agbor Road; Kingsquare–Upper Sokponba; New Benin – Ugbowo and New Benin–Aduwawa.

Speaking on the development, the residents commended the governor’s compassion and foresight, noting that the policy will reduce the transport burden on the people, thereby reducing the suffering and hardship inflicted on the people as a result of the Federal Government’s fuel subsidy removal policy.

Mrs. Mary, Edokpolor a mother of three, applauded the governor for his empathetic response to the challenges faced by Edo State residents, describing the policy as a lifeline to her family.

According to her, “I can’t thank Governor Godwin Obaseki enough for this free transportation initiative. It's a lifeline for my family and many others who are faced with hardship because of the fuel subsidy removal. His compassion and love for Edo people is evident in this act, and we're truly grateful. With the money saved on transportation, we can now allocate more resources to our daily economic activities, especially feeding thereby ensuring better welfare for our children.”

On her part, Joy Eromosele, a Benin-based banker said, “Governor Obaseki’s decision to provide free transport services is nothing short of visionary. It shows his deep commitment to the wellbeing and welfare of Edo people. He has always put the people at the forefront of his government’s decisions and policies and we're fortunate to have a leader who understands our needs and takes action.

She added, “This free bus service will significantly ease the financial burden of commuting to work for myself and other workers in the State, allowing us to save more and redirect the resources to other aspects of our daily lives that require attention.”

Osagie Ewaenigho, a student of the University of Benin said that Governor Obaseki's approach to the current transportation challenge faced by the people is thoughtful and practical.

He noted, “This initiative will tremendously help students like me as well as other residents. With reduced transportation costs, I can now afford to buy more study materials and invest more in my education.”

The Baale of Mamu, Ijemo land at Oke Mosan has congratulated President Bola Ahmed  Tinubu on his victory at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal, on Wednesday.


Recall that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, as well as the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) had taken Tinubu to court over his victory at the February 25 poll.


The community leader in a statement issued on  Thursday  said the judgment has further cemented his electoral success, establishing his popularity among Nigerians from North to South.

“I send my felicitation to the President and Commander-In-Chief, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on his well-deserved victory at the Election Petition Tribunal today Wednesday, September 6, 2023.


"Having secured the majority votes in the February 25 presidential election and met all the constitutional requirements for victory, today’s judgement has further shown that Nigerians truly voted for Tinubu.




"I  celebrate with Tinubu on  the landmark judgement delivered yesterday at the Presidential Election Petition. The judgement affirmed President Tinubu’s victory at the 2023 general elections. The  judgement represents the voice of Nigerians who voted in the February elections.

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal has dismissed the petitions filed by Atiku Abubakar and his party, the PDP against the election of President Bola Tinubu.

The Justice Haruna Tsammani-led five-member panel said the petitions filed by Atiku and PDP lacked merit.

“Having found all three petitions to be unmeritorious, I hold that the return of Tinubu as elected President by INEC is right.”

The four issues raised in Atiku’s petition had to do with non compliance with the electoral act, and also questioned whether Bola Tinubu scored the majority of lawful votes cast to be declared winner

Atiku also claimed that Tinubu was not qualified to contest the election having been linked to a fine of narcotics forfeiture in the US.

Also, the tribunal rejected and discountenanced exhibits including witnesses’ statements tendered by Abubakar to substantiate his allegations of electoral irregularities and malpractices at the last presidential election.⁣

The court also expunged 37 exhibits tendered by the witnesses from the court’s records.

On the issue of Tinubu’s conviction and the issue of his dual citizenship, the Tribunal again held like it earlier did that this issues were incompetent and liable to be struck out and same were indeed struck out.

The Nigeria Police Force is worried over the discovry of gas pistol( Spyder Victor) recovered from a robbery gang in Lagos.

The gun, the first of its kind in Nigeria, was recovered from a suspected robber on Eko Bridge.

The police said they were still studying the gun to know how it came into the country, and why the gang decided to go for the make.

Unfortunately, the prime suspect, who his gang members claimed that only him could say the source of the gun and why he decided to go for the kind, escaped arrest by jumping into the Lagos Lagoon.

The police are currently searching for the suspect whether dead or alive.

The gang member whose gun was recovered in his possession, told the police at the command headquarters, Ikeja , while he was being paraded among other suspects, that the prime suspect abandoned the gas pistol and jumped inside the lagoon from
The suspect claimed that he didn’t know anything about the source of the gas gun only the prime suspect that could say the source of the gun to the police.

According to police investigator, the police would do everything possible to get to the root of the matter.

Lagos State Commissioner, Mr. Idowu Owohunwa,who paraded the suspect and other suspects , described the gun,as a unique gun, Spyder Victor, “we will get to the root of the mater.They were two suspects ,but one jumped to death into the Lagoon from the Eko Bridge”.

The CP said, he had never seen such a gun since he joined the force.

As Nigeria joins the rest of the world to celebrate “Isese” Day (day of tradition), Baale Of Mamu land, Okemosan, Abeokuta, Ogun State,  Chief Fredrick Fadipe has urged  traditionalists in the country to  pray for Nigeria as they celebrate Isese day today.

He called on them to use the occassion of this year's celebration to pray fervently for Nigeria in casting away pain, poverty and insecurity in the country.

PRESIDENT BOLA TINUBU APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CNG INITIATIVE; TARGETS NATIONWIDE ADOPTION WITH WORKSHOPS FOR SMOOTH TRANSITION TO CNG-FUELLED VEHICLES

In furtherance of his commitment to easing the impact of fuel subsidy removal on Nigerians by reducing energy costs, President Bola Tinubu has approved the establishment of the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI).

This transformative initiative is poised to revolutionize the transportation landscape in the country, targeting over 11,500 new CNG-enabled vehicles and 55,000 CNG conversion kits for existing PMS-dependent vehicles, while simultaneously bolstering in-country manufacturing, local assembly and expansive job creation in line with the presidential directive.

The landmark initiative, which comprises of a Comprehensive Adoption Strategy, will include the following: Empowering Workshops Programme w/ Nationwide Network of Workshops, Local Assembly and Job Creation as key points of emphasis with an initial focus on mass transit systems and student hubs in order to significantly reduce transit costs for the general populace in the immediate term.

Furthermore, in line with the PCNGI's determination to ensure a seamless integration of CNG utility within the current midstream and downstream energy value chain to support its sustainability, the PCNGI will facilitate the provision of workshops across all geopolitical zones and states with essential kits and comprehensive training for newly employed staff, thus creating new opportunities for technical skill development and employment for Nigerians.

The new nationwide network of workshops, to be established through the initiative, would ensure widespread access and demand side utilization of CNG technology and CNG-related expertise, thereby facilitating smoother transitions for vehicle owners at the wider benefit of the Nigerian economy.

Under the aegis of the PCNGI, the following strategic objectives will be achieved:

— The development of new stakeholder-operated Intrastate Mass Transit systems built on CNG.

— Support for states to onboard new CNG buses as part of their Intrastate Mass Transit network (wholesale conversion, retro-fitting and new purchase).

— The deployment of CNG buses through existing Private Mass Transit operators, including new financing programmes for operators through an innovative asset finance programme.

— Incentivize investors to invest in CNG processing, distribution and utilization by providing incentives for enhanced investment and partnership.

— Deliver training and technology transfer to support the After-Sales Services and maintenance sub-industry to create sustainable jobs.

President Tinubu's focus on assembling CNG-enabled vehicles within the country will stimulate economic growth, create employment opportunities, and bolster the nation's automotive manufacturing capabilities.

The launch of this initiative also underscores this administration’s commitment to fostering a cleaner environment by reducing carbon emissions and promoting energy security through the utilization of domestic natural gas resources.

Nollywood actor and filmmaker, Femi Adebayo Salami has opened up on the extra miles he went to bring Jagun Jagun, his newest movie, to life.

In an interview with the press, the box office King revealed that he sold his properties to fund the movie because he didn’t want to seek help from financial institutions and individuals.

He disclosed that Jagun Jagun is a multi-billion naira project, though, he can’t disclose the exact amount he spent on funding the project.

“Jagun Jagun is a multi-billion naira project and I can’t say the exact amount I spent on it on shooting

I used the proceeds of Agbeshinkole to produce Jagun Jagun. I was working on not getting funded by finance houses and individuals. At a point, I was out of finance and because I had faith that the project would work, I sold my properties”.

Elsewhere in the interview, he revealed that his worst nightmare is how to beat Jagun Jagun in his next project.

When he did King of Thieves, he knew he was going to beat it with his next project, but now he doesn’t have such confidence.

My worst nightmare is that I have to be at Jagun Jagun with my next production”.

Femi also spoke on how he built the warrior school from scratch.

“We built from scratch the warrior school. We were forced with the challenge of purchasing that land, we wanted to own the land. And at a point, we had an agreement and paid for it, but the children of the owner of the land changed their minds about the land sale. We have built the school halfway when the children who came from Lagos told us to stop. They were ready to destroy all that we built and that held us up for almost a week, going to the Police station and Obas appealing to them and we were told to only shoot there and not buy it.

Speaking about his inspiration, he said, “What inspired the story of Jagun Jagun is the youth and environment of Nigeria.

I wanted to pass across a social message to the youths and wanted to do it culturally”.

It is obvious that the passing of a loved one, more so one's Father, leaves a very painful trail and agony. But please be consoled by the fact that from God we came and to Him we shall all return after our earthly sojourn.

For us humans, there is a time to be born and a time to die. Though the timing and manner of death, an inevitable end, is a secret known only to the Almighty God.

Major Segun Oni answered the call of God on Monday 13th of August 2023 at about 5:40am when the dreaded terrorists, bandits ambushed their camp in Niger State. We learnt he was the senior officer who led the squad to save the lives of the citizens and to protect their properties but it's so unfortunately he embarked on a journey of no return at the age of forty plus. I never knew July 20, 2023 will be the last day we will be exchanging pleasantries together when I received your call to tell me some things and to further commend my proactiveness over my profession Oh! what a painful exit!

It's on a record that Late Chief Oni, your biological father laid good legacies for you to follow in which you never derail from his good antecedents until this abrupt death. You are a very active officer in the Nigerian military force with a pure heart to discharge your effective activities at when due and always accommodating any Eruku Youths who come around you oh! What a giant stride Major Segun Oni.

We mourn with grief while I pray that the Almighty God grant the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss. (Amen).
