Politics / Help, My Hubby Comes Too Quickly by NEWSPoster: 11:42am On Jul 08, 2015
Dear Bunmi,
After only five years of marriage, my husband seems not to be interested in sex— at least with me! We didn’t have sex before we married for religious reasons, but since we’ve been together, he’s avoided getting intimate.
I always have to make the first move or dress up to tempt him. The few times we do have sex, it is over so quickly in about a minute and I end up unsatisfied. Please help!
Jumoke, by e-mail.

Dear Jumoke,
I can hear your disappoint-ment! You must be feeling a lot of frustration right now. You’ve waited until marriage to have sex and now your husband doesn’t appear to be up to the task. It would be easy to blame yourself, but this almost certainly says more about your husband.
If sex is very quick, then he may be suffering from premature ejaculation. This is a condition where a man ejaculates within a minute or so of getting an erection; sometimes so quickly that penetration isn’t possible.
It is estimated that 40 percent of men suffer premature ejaculation at some point. Sometimes it is temporary, but for others it is a lifelong condition— causing a lot of frustration to both partners.
Sexual problems can be difficult to cope with and for some, it is easier to avoid sex than face up to the truth. Your husband may be avoiding intimacy because he doesn’t want to let you down again and feel the disappointment of not being all he knows you’d like him to be.
The good news is there are treatments for premature ejaculation and new medications on the horizon. All you need to do is persuade your husband to get help from his doctor. Find a relaxed time to tell him how you’re feeling and suggest you see the doctor with him if it helps.

Politics / Court To Continue Hearing On Nwosu’s Alleged N855m Scam by NEWSPoster: 10:31am On Jul 08, 2015
Justice Kudirat Jose of a Lagos High Court in Ikeja will today continue hearing on the N855m fraud involving the deputy manager of a bank (identity withheld), Anayo Nwosu.
Nwosu is facing trial alongside an Indian national, Ashok Isran, Olajide Oshodi and Sunny Obazee, both managers of the same bank.
Also charged along with Nwosu are NULEC Industries Limited and the bank in question.
It will be recalled that a prosecution witness for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Chukwuma Orji, had informed the court about how top officials of the bank connived with the Indian national to deceive Mr. Daniel Chukwudozie, a Managing Director of Dozzy Oil and Gas Limited, to part with the sum of N855m under a spurious private share placement deal.
However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and fraud.
Orji had told the court that one of the defendants, Anayo, carefully concealed the bankrupt status of NULEC Industries Limited to their victims, Chukwudozie and his company, convincing them to invest N285m in NULEC Industries through the phony private placement.
The witness further disclosed that even before the private placement was opened on July 25, 2008, the defendants had allegedly withdrawn a large proportion of the funds and wired the rest abroad.
He, however, pointed out that the wired sum was later returned in parts to various accounts traced to Isran in Nigeria.
The witness further told the court from the investigation that Anayo, being the account officer to NULEC in the bank, fully knew that the firm was indebted up to N130million to the bank, but hoodwinked the victim to invest N285 million due to his desperation for promotion.
According to the witness, the first action by the alleged managers on the invested fund was to settle NULEC company’s N130 million indebtedness to the bank before transferring the remaining sum to Risa Enterprises in Switzerland, a firm purportedly owned by Isran.
“Our investigation indicated that the first defendant, Anayo Nwosu, as the account officer of NULEC Industries Limited was aware that NULEC was indebted to various banks such as UBA, GTB, ACCESS Bank and Bank PHB, but his desperation for promotion led him to approach Gozzy Oil and Gas to invest in Nulec Industries shares.
“He was aware that the fifth defendant, Nulec Industries Limited, was indebted to the bank in question to the tune of N130 million when he approached the MD of Gozzy Oil and Gas for the share offer.
‘’For the purpose of the offer, an account was opened with the bank, named Private Placement Account, while there was another account called Operation Account through which the company conducted its daily affairs.
“Our investigation also indicated that immediately the Operating Account of Nulec Industries Limited was credited, N130million was fraudulently removed and used to offset indebtedness of the company to the bank out of the N285 million outstanding, while the remaining fund was wired to the offshore account of Risa Enterprises in Switzerland.
‘’The fact from our investigation revealed that the businessman fraudulently lost the money before the commencement of the shares offer,” the witness disclosed.
EFCC alleged that withdrawal of funds invested by the victim was done by the defendants between July 15 and 16, 2008, about nine days before July 25 date of the share placement, though fraudulently.
The commission maintained that it was able to confirm that there was no error that the fund was paid to the Operation Account rather than Private Placement Account, stating that it was a well-scripted fraud by all the defendants in the suit

Politics / Indonesia Arrests Man Selling Protected Eagles On Facebook by NEWSPoster: 10:00am On Jul 08, 2015
Indonesian police posing as wildlife buyers have arrested a suspected trafficker for selling protected eagles on Facebook, an official said Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, authorities in Indonesia’s second-largest city of Surabaya swooped on the man’s home on Monday, where they discovered 14 eagles in cages and cardboard boxes, provincial police force spokesman Argo Yuwono told AFP.

Among the various species were white-bellied sea eagles and spotted kestrels, as well as five baby eaglets, Yuwono said.

“Before arresting him, we went undercover and acted as buyers to confirm he was selling the birds on Facebook,” he said.

“Eagles are protected animals in Indonesia. Selling these birds is illegal and a serious crime.”

It’s the first known case in Indonesia of wildlife being sold through the popular social networking site, the spokesman said.

Police claim the man had been running his online operation for six months, selling eaglets for 750,000 rupiah ($56) and fully-grown birds for up to five million rupiah each.

Yuwono said four of the eaglets had since died from illness, but the other birds had been sent to Indonesia’s natural resources conservation office, which deals with wildlife-trafficking cases.

If found guilty of possessing and selling the protected animals, the trafficker could face five years prison and 100 million rupiah in fines.

Indonesian police in May arrested a suspected wildlife smuggler after discovering nearly two dozen live birds, mostly yellow-crested cockatoos, jammed alive inside plastic water bottles in his luggage.

Crime / Boko Haram Has Destroyed 850 Churches, Says PFN by NEWSPoster: 9:28am On Jul 08, 2015

The President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Dr. Felix Omobude, has revealed that about 850 churches have been destroyed, with many people killed and injured through the activities Boko Haram in the northern part of the country.

Omobude stated this on Tuesday during a visit to the Oyo State chapter of the association, at the Rehoboth Cathedral, Oluyole Estate, Ibadan.

He was assisted during the visit by the founder of Sword of the Spirit Ministries, Bishop Wale Oke; Oyo State chairman of PFN, Bishop Taiwo Adelakun (of Victory International Church) and other clergies.

While condemning the renewed insurgents’ suicide bombings and other attacks, coupled with the heavy casualties being recorded, Omobude urged the Federal Government to rise up to the task of defending the citizens from the Islamic fundamentalists.

According to the clergy, peace would reign in the country when people live together without the fear of being attacked by a set of individuals. He however aligned with the approach of the Federal Government to the dialogue with the sect, if they were ready to embrace peace.

He said, “By my understanding of the government’s position, it is not that the government is going to beg the insurgents. The war against them will continue. If they say they want to talk, no government will turn deaf ears to them.

“We are appealing to our people as well as our leaders to come together and treat the insurgents as criminals, which they are truly because nobody can justify the dastardly act of bombing places of worship.

“The PFN condemns the atrocities of the Islamic sect in all ramifications. We acknowledge the efforts of the security agencies, especially since the inauguration of the new government and we appeal to the government to make the security agents comfortable so as to be able to concentrate on the task at hand.”

Omobude also appealed to Nigerians to accept displaced victims of the sect or those who were rescued by security forces back into the society. He added that the fellowship, in its effort to assist the victims of Boko Haram across all religious divides, set up an appeal fund. He said so far, over N40m have been spent on the rehabilitation of the people.

“I urge everybody around the victims to be their brothers’ keepers, by giving them any assistance necessary,” he said.

He called on Nigerians to be patient with the new government and pray for its success.

Meanwhile, the National Human Right Commission has said that Nigeria has the third highest number of Internally Displaced Persons in the world, just behind Syria and Iraq.

The commission noted that security challenges had continued to be one of the greatest threats to the country.

The Chairman of NHRC, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, raised the alarm in Abuja while delivering a keynote address entitled, “Good governance beyond 2015: Setting agenda for inclusive and sustainable development in an era of change.”

He said this at the national conference which ended on Tuesday in Abuja.

The event was organised by the United Nations Millennium Campaign, Millennium Development Goals Office of the Presidency and Open Society Initiative for West Africa.

According to him, because of the fragility of the state and its institutions, violence has become a major cause of mortality in Nigeria, which means that the global idea of the MDGs/sustainable development goals could be threatened.

Odinkalu said, “Nigeria has the third global population of internal displacements, behind Syria and Iraq, with the possibility of internally displaced persons. Reflecting the fragility of the state and its institutions, violence has become a major cause of mortality in Nigeria, with the Heidelberg Centre’s annual conflict barometer reporting that the country was fighting two wars at the end of 2014 – in the North-East and North-Central respectively in which possibly tens of thousands were being killed.”

The NHRC’s boss stated that the MDGs and indeed, the wider project of development were themselves founded on the notions of human rights, human dignity and equality generally.

He also quoted the Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre Global Overview of 2014, which says that Boko Haram’s ruthless campaign to establish an independent Islamic state in north-eastern Nigeria also drove significant new displacement.

“It was responsible for displacing more than three-quarters of, at least, 975,300 people in the country during the year while many others fled inter-communal violence in the Middle-Belt region,” the report stated.

The IDMC report also added that as at the end of 2014, 38 million people had been forced to flee their homes by armed conflict and violence in the world. These, the report added, were living in camps within the borders of their various countries while 11 million people were newly displaced during the year, the equivalent of 30,000 fleeing each day.

Politics / Buhari’ll Stop Poor Funding Of NDDC – Oshiomhole by NEWSPoster: 9:15am On Jul 08, 2015
THE Governor of Edo State, Adams Oshiomhole, has assured the Niger Delta Development Commission that President Muhammadu Buhari will stop the problem of the commission’s poor funding.

Oshiomhole explained that the current leadership in the country would enforce the statutory obligations of the Federal Government to the NDDC, unlike previous administrations.

He added that Buhari will comply with the laws guiding the funding of the commission.

The governor spoke at the Government House in Benin while receiving members of the Board of the commission who paid him a courtesy visit on Monday.

In a statement signed by the Head, Corporate Affairs of the NDDC, Mr. Toye Abosede, and issued in Port Harcourt on Tuesday, Oshiomhole explained that the people of the Niger Delta region were expecting much from the commission as a result of the challenges facing them.

He pointed out that the people of the oil-rich region were still facing the problem of oil pollution and other forms of environmental hazards.

He said, “The current leadership of the country, unlike the previous administrations, will enforce the laws concerning the statutory obligations of the Federal Government to the NDDC.

“The expectation of the people of the Niger Delta from the NDDC is very high because of the varied challenges facing the inhabitants of the oil-producing region, especially with respect to oil and gas pollution as well as environmental hazards.

“The South-South Governors’ Forum will soon meet to articulate the way forward for the region. The governors from the South-South share a common passion with NDDC for the development of the region,” the governor said.

Earlier, the Chairman of the NDDC Board, Senator Bassey Ewa-Henshaw, lamented that the activities of the commission were being hampered by funding challenges.

Ewa-Henshaw specifically said that over N800bn due to the interventionist agency had been withheld over the years, adding that N45bn ecological funds accruing to the NDDC were also outstanding.

The NDDC chairman explained that the withheld funds arose from the non-compliance with the Act establishing the commission.

Ewa-Henshaw stated that the NDDC had since inception been getting 10 percent, instead of the statutory provision of 15 per cent from the Federal Government.

He appealed to the governors of the states covered by the NDDC to push for the proper funding of the commission by the Federal Government and oil companies.

The chairman regretted that major legacy projects that would have given the economy of the region a boost had suffered because of inadequate funding.

He said that the current NDDC board inherited about 7,000 projects and a liability in excess of N1trn, including Interim Payment Certificates that were not paid.
