The Sins (or Crimes) Of Jesus by huxley(m): 10:32pm On Aug 08, 2008 |
Many people believe that Jesus (if he existed) lived a spotless and sin-free life. But is that really the impression one gets from the bible. I submit that some of the things that Jesus did would be considered as crimes, if not sins, in most societies today. According to the bible these are some of the things he is said to have done, or had his disciples do; 1) Curses an innocent fig tree that did not belong to him, thus killing it. 2) Cast some demons out and sent them into a herd of pigs that did not belong to him. The pigs were thus driven insane and ran and threw themselves off a cliff. I bet, you the owner of the pigs would have got really mad with Jesus. 3) Stole (or took without permission) someone else's donkey. 4) Allowed his disciples to walk through someone else's corn field and harvesting corn for themselves without the owner's permission. Worse still, this happened on the Sabbath. 5) Caused a commotion at the temple by overturning the tables of some businessmen. I put it to you guys that none of such behaviour would be tolerated today. If Jesus really did any of these, then he cannot be said to be sinless. ===================================================================================================== Some of my other threads The Dangers Of Religious Fundamentalism To Intellectualism https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria?topic=110955.msg1929006#msg1929006 Danger! 1) Curses an innocent fig tree that did not belong to him, thus killing it. The tree was fruitless so it was of no use anyway. And by the way that was why He cursed it, not because He was looking for food and the thing had none. Remember He went on to state the repercussions of a christian not bearing fruit. 2) Cast some demons out and sent them into a herd of pigs that did not belong to him. The pigs were thus driven insane and ran and threw themselves of a cliff. I bet you the owner of the pigs would have got really mad with Jesus.Yes, the bible does say that the owners were mad and they sent him out of the city. But would you rather save aherd of pigs than save yourself, from whatever situation? If you are not a vegetarian, dont u know the number of animals that have been killed so that you can chop and survive? Bottomline, you cant compare the worth of human life and animal life. |

Re: The Sins (or Crimes) Of Jesus by huxley(m): 10:55pm On Aug 08, 2008 |
A_K_O: The fig tree was simply out of season and no reason to be killed. BTW, why did Jesus not realise the tree was out of season but had to make a trip to the tree to find it was out of season? If he not all-knowing? The more you look into this Jesus character, the more you cannot resist disliking him and finding him immoral. Could he not simply have killed the demons? Why send them into a herd of innocent pigs? |

@A K O: « #6 on: Yesterday at 10:40:16 PM Good answer given by Huxley, to your dubious response, intentionally hiding that the tree was just simply obeying the laws that guide the fruiting of fig trees. Do mango trees have fruits out of its seasons? Do women get pregnant with ovulating? Everything has its place, its season.
Yes, the bible does say that the owners were mad and they sent him out of the city. But would you rather save aherd of pigs than save yourself, from whatever situation? If you are not a vegetarian, don't u know the number of animals that have been killed so that you can chop and survive? Bottomline, you can't compare the worth of human life and animal life.
The same darn Pig, you Christians love its flesh. In america, they call it the other white meat. Is one of you concerned that Jesus might have shown you by this action of his that Pig should not be consumed? @Davidylan: I think the Abuja court is more suited for it.
