nke a bu "a b d" Igbo odi iri ato na isi (36)

Ok, you would have to say this in English when you are trying to explain. Don't behave like those igbo teachers in school that don't teach the basics before blasting you with the language you don't even understand. undecided

That's by the way. grin Let me try and interpret the quote. " This is a b d Igbo. They are 36" Correct me if I'm wrong.

I know the alphabets already, can you write numbers?

Is there a reason why he/she can be either O or O with the dot?

stillwater:

Something called Vowel Harmony. "O" goes with "E" & "I" sounds, and "Ọ" goes with "A" & "Ị" sounds.
Re: Learning Igbo Language by Nobody: 1:00am On Apr 14, 2009
Do you mean something like

Oge

O ga ga (I don't have the key for the O with a dot)
Re: Learning Igbo Language by ChinenyeN(m): 1:38am On Apr 14, 2009
Yeah, like that.

Oge || Ọ ga-aga

Those are some simple, and straight forward arrangements of vowel harmony. Here are some slightly complex ones. . .

Kwupụta
Legharịa
Kpọkue
etc. etc. One sentence in Igbo is an example of complex arrangements of vowel harmony. Sometimes, the vowel harmony "law/rule" isn't followed. . . but that's mainly seen when you get dialectal.
