EFCC Declares Ibori Wanted Again by upchair(m): 8:07pm On Apr 13, 2010
The EFCC has declared Ibori wanted again. It was on channels 8 PM news tonight April 13th, 2010

Our God does not sleep. Where are Yaradua and Andoakka to come and save him.  grin

I pray this time though he is prosecuted and that he will go to jail for real. This needs to happen before we can start believing in the sincerity of the EFCC and the Judiciary.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has declared the former governor of Delta State, James Ibori wanted on corruption and money laundering charges.

The commission said this in a statement issued by its head of media and publicity, Femi Babafemi. "Following persistent public enquiries over the status of the case involving the former governor, we will like the public to know that James Ibori is wanted by the Commission for interrogation," the statement said.

It stated that letters of invitation had been sent to Mr Ibori's known addresses in Lagos and Abuja, and a warrant obtained for his arrest.

NEXT had earlier reported on Mr Ibori's disappearance after the anti-graft agency commenced a massive hunt for him over his role in the illegal disposal of about 500 million units of Delta State-owned bank shares while he was governor of the oil rich state from 1999 to 2007.

Justice at last? Or is this one of the usual pick up and drop that has been the case with Ibori?

Ibori may be corrupt yes! but he is far better than most governors . He may not have been the perfect governor but he achieved things in Delta state . The incumbent , Ewetan Uduaghan who happened to be his cousin so far has not achieved any thing as governor of Delta state. The little he has achieved if any at all , are his attempt to accomplish Ibori's unfinished projects ( some of which are still on going even after 11 yrs of starting them ) and very sectional projects in the Itsekiri area which are even nothing to write home about . For me and for most Deltans , Uduagha as a governor is a monumental failure .

ok, if it is true that ibori has been arrested, it means nigeria will start having steady power supply, our educational systems will start working, our roads will be in good shapes, our security will be perfect.
i am happy that all the problems of nigeria have finally been solved.
with ibori arrested, everyother thief in nigeria will now become a saint. in fact there will be no need to further investigate the harliburton bribery scandal.
nigerians are one foolish ppl. always ready to leave the objects for shadows.
how on earth is every nigerian interested in ibori and orji uzor kalu who ribadu told us are the criminals without asking questions.
how long are we going to remain like this?

James Onanefe Ibori is said to be the come-back-kid,
wherever he is now, am sure he will be plotting a new escape route, Houdini style, ,
but for how long will this hide and seek game continue between Ibori and the law?

Arrestin Ibori or jailin him will not solve all our problems but we must arrest him, constant power supply cannot solve all our problems but we must solve d power problem, havin a credible election cannot assure us of d best leader but we must hav credible elections we must solve our transportation problems even though dat alone will not bring abt d end of our woes

All those complainin shld realise dat EFCCs is just one arm of d govt other arms shld do their job

Obasanjo I hail thee, he is showing goodluck the steps needed to be a successful dictator, in politics there are no enemies, just different interests. Ibori might be getting the reward for being the backbone of the cabal, first ribadu is coming back and next ibori is on the run! Damn if this does not reek of obj nothing else does.

Re: EFCC Declares Ibori Wanted Again by Rheinmetal(m): 3:50pm On Apr 14, 2010
EFCC should spare us the B.S. It would appear that they resort to this gimmick each time to remind us that they still exist. We all know the anti-corruption drive has nose-dived with the lady Waziri at its helm. In a country that is globally renowned for its corrupt government officials, how many of these thieves have been successfully prosecuted for their alleged crimes excluding thief Bode George?

Okay! say they nab Ibori what next? collude with him to play the usual jurisdictional card, or better still have his SANs seek and get perpetual injunctions till our usual seven-day memory syndrome kick in. When these bohos are serious about bringing Ibori to justice they know where to get him, and how to get that done. No need for attention grabbing headlines!!!
Re: EFCC Declares Ibori Wanted Again by chidichris(m): 3:53pm On Apr 14, 2010
oh! ibori, a national issue.
how on earth are we decieving ourselves?
after ibori, who is next and how many year does it take nigeria to destroy one thief in a country of over 150 million thieves? our hope is hanging on the balance.
if 1 ibori takes efcc and nigeria all these time arrest, we have to multiply that by like 150 million iboris out there.
i can't help but cry for this shameless group called nigeria.

Ah Nigeria!
Another Drama, Didn't they know where Ibori was before they declared him wanted? Is Ibori the only one who stole money? what of the money they claimed to recover before? They want us to believe they are really effective? I don't believe these guys. Remember we see only the things they want us to see.

Kobojunkie:

Very good question!

Other governors had been presenting themselves at the offices of EFCC, and at the Courts, when and if the need arose. Ibori absconded. He's not the only ex-Governor with lawsuits hanging round his neck, but he's virtually the only one on the run at the moment. Even Ayo Fayose has come out of hiding.
Re: EFCC Declares Ibori Wanted Again by Region(m): 10:42pm On Apr 14, 2010
how can EFCC Declare Ibori wanted when he was asked to submit himself on the 17th of april.? It is obvious that he wants to be frustated ahead of the forthcoming election. Ribadu, OBJ, and the rest of them, would continue to envy him as long as they live. NIGERIA and it's PADI PADI government. make Yardua wake up RIBADU go run again.

Unless and until Ibori and his ilk: Odili, Igbinedion, Alams, Anenih, Aondoaaka, Turai, are handed several life sentences, Nigeria will not know peace or progress.

I am no supporter of Ibori and I believe he should be jailed for corruption . However, you can not declare somebody wanted yet when you sent an invitation for him to appear on 17th April. Let us be civilised please

Who is Banana Republic? Ibori is an apostle of Banana Republic, this man thinks Nigerians are fools, he does not know that we all know him. Ibori I want to assure you that you will never go unpunished, you must be jailed in this country. You are just a pety criminal that became governor because of the nediocrity nature of Nigeria. Nobody is persecuting you politically for you are nobody in this country. How can a man who was found gulity of criminal activities in London ever be a governor in Ngeria. As far I am concern you are an ex-con. You cannot hide, you must pay for all you have done.

Ibori should face the music and EFCC should make sure that he is punish for all that he did.
Ibori should stop wiping sentiments and crying foul. Ibori that set up persecution timetable for Ribadu is now the one running. Light must prevail over darkness.

Ibori is notorious for using the law to cover his corrupt practices.Remember the controversial abuja court case which he denied the identity of the subject matter. He may look smart but surely evil cannot prevail over good.many days for the thief but one day for the owner. He shall surely join his colleagues in kri kri sooner or latter

This man should be convicted once and for all. But I have feelings that hammer of judgment will surely fall on him unaware like his father Bode Gorge.

Yar\'adua\'s role in shielding ibori through the instrumentality of oandoakka is most unfortunate, now that both characters are out of the way, ibori has no hiding place again. Most regrettable however is the role played by efcc under mrs waziri who decided to play to the gallery by deliberately diluting the evidence presented to the court thereby paving way for ibori\'s acquittal by the court of appeal, this casts a big slur on the continued chairmanship of mrs waziri in the post-yar\'adua\'s dispensation.

Ibori is trying by all means to wriggle out of the mess he has put himself. By the way, what lawyer would want to take up a sordid case such as this. Even a child in the mother\'s womb knows that is Ibori\'s hands are not clean in this whole issue not to talk of the whole nation, Nigeria which he has put in the sportlight in a disgraceful manner. Tony Eluemunor, you ought to be ashamed of yourself. You should consider yourself a disgrace to all deltans for speaking in favour of Ibori over the fraud he perpetuated while in office. You are wasting your time trying to speak in favour of him. Ibori must surely vomit all the money he stole from delta state. That is the only way he can be at peace with himself. Nigerians are tired of having rogues as leaders.

What I dislike is Waziri\'s antics of playing politics with her position and office. She likes to pretend to be fighting corruption when in the real sense protecting and abetting the vice. Nothing has been heard about EFCC\'s appeal against Ibori\'s acquittal. Nigerians fail to understand that EFCC chooses weak and compromising lawyers, prepares a weak argument inorder to lose the case and blame the courts, or claim they are following \"rule of law\". Farida Waziri has lost the confidence to speak against the backdrop of the news that Ribadu might be back. She along with notorious Aandoakaa worked assidously to protect corrupt people. One of Ibori\'s file that was awaiting destruction has finally been revived. Last week Waziri spoke apparently through Festus Kayemo against the withdrawal of charges against Ribadu; Can the \'learned\' Kayemo dispute the fact that Ibori is an ex-convict in Britain which information was not disclosed in his (Ibori\'s) Code of Conduct form. Which Nigerian govt has charged him on this?
Lets watch and see

Ibori, this is the final journey, I knew that a day like this will surely come, a day of truthfulness, a day that the law will be well interpreted, a day that Nigerians will start administering the absolute supremacy of the law as administered by the law court.

You cannot escape this. This is your final journey to jail.
