Well, I don't think this thread should end on that last post. embarassed

The main issue on this thread seems to be with the question of whether Alaigbo is really landlocked and securing access to the sea (in case of any emergency like how it was locked away from the sea by Nigeria, with help from the Ijaw, in the 1960's which was a disaster).

What about Igbo communities that are supposedly Aro people who have spread about to places that are in the other colonially made countries of Africa today, like Cameroon and Gabon. Are there actually Aro communities (or generally Igbo communities) who have settled out of Nigeria?

And I'm talking about immigrants like those on Bioko island.

Yes there are but I'd say that they so not extend pass Cameroun. In those days travelling through thick forest by foot would have taken weeks if not months for a couple hundred miles.

It is interesting to note that two of the eleven girls that featured for the Equatorial Guinean female team against Norway today are Igbo girls. Diala and Chinasa.

But you should be careful because some Equatorial Guineans answer Igbo names but are not necessarily Igbo.

Ezeagu my brother, ewekwa iwe, but sometimes I wonder who's side you are on. This doesn't necessarily apply to this particular thread but I've noticed that you've become, or already are often counter concordial to your fellow kinsmen.

Why so? undecided

When?
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by ChinenyeN(m): 2:42am On Jun 30, 2011
odumchi, what if someone doesn't want to pick 'sides'? and to the best of my knowledge, ezeagu hasn't changed from how I remember him to be.

Haha, I thought I was extreme. shocked
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by odumchi: 4:09am On Jun 30, 2011
I don't know why but I tend to group you and Eze Uche together in my head. I often mentally expect you to behave in his manner since he is an extremist.

But nowadays you resemble Chinenye, who Is an ardent neutralist by choice. It's just something I've noticed grin.
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by ChinenyeN(m): 4:36am On Jun 30, 2011
Ardent? cheesy Does it really seem that way? Well, I'm a very indifferent individual most of the time. It's my actual disposition. It's not that I choose to be. It's just that, for the most part, I don't see the point in taking sides on most things, really. For me, it's just more work than necessary. I never knew it came off as 'ardent'. hehh.

A company rep from Equatorial Guinea and of Igbo ancestry told me about the Igbo in Equatorial Guinee and reminded me yesterday to watch the E.E womens team play yesterday against Norway. I did watch the match live on Eurosports and I confirmed what he had told me. There are indigenous Igbo people in Equatorial Guinea. They have been there more than hundred and ten years now.
Chinasa and Diala do not speak Igbo but their grand parents and parents do. This is from a Guinean who knows them.

The Igbos that are in Benue state. A precise LGA(Oju) was mentioned on an Igede(Benue ethnic group) website. This is not us claiming land that is not ours ooo!

"Created in 1976 from the defunct Idoma Division, Oju local government is located on the southern part of Benue. She is bordered by Otukpo local government to the north and by Anambra and Cross river states to the south. Her other neighbours are: Vandeikya local government to the east and Okpokwu local government to the west.

The inhabitants are mainly Igede speaking people. There are also Izzis and Ezza-Igbos. The ethnic composition makes the local government an example of harmonious inter-ethnic relations."

Interesting. But Okpokwu LGA has more Igbo than Iju. However, thanks Chyz for this info.

Excuse me digging a thread from its grave, but I came to announce that the map I made months ago is being used by the World Igbo Congress, the one recently admitted into the UN ECOSOC.

Really don't realise how much impact you can have with a post online.

If language, which is a constituent of culture and tradition, can not positively identify the true root or ethnical cradle of the people, what else? If English, German, Swedish, French and Dutch men stood together without uttering a word, you had naturally assumed they were European until they spoke their vernacular then their identities get to their roots.

I hope you do not intend to add the reproductive parts of human as an extended identifier of the peoples’ root. After watching the Olympic opening ceremony last night, I am convinced best way out of Nigeria is Republic of Igbo land.
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by Nobody: 6:28am On Aug 14, 2012
Some Igbo people will never stop claiming us the Eastern Ijaws.
Re: The True Extent Of Alaigbo (Igboland) by Nobody: 6:42am On Aug 14, 2012
naijaking1: I asked that question, because the loudest claim on PH come from Ijaw personalities. The reality on the ground is that Ikwerre Igbos, Ogonis, Anangs, and Kalabari people own most of the historical PH.

Original Port Harcourt was an Okrika enclave and there was no dispute to that. The Kalabaris were direct neighbours and brothers and it was the KALABARIS of BAKANA that stood as witness during when the AMAYANABO of Okrika was signing the deal of the land with the British. Ikwere people were not even known to be existing at that. People should not argue this cos it is a rested case. Port Harcourt city also known as town, Borikiri, Abuloma, Okuru ama, Fimie, Amadi ama ( Trans amadi ), Rainbow town are the axis of Okrika in Port Harcourt. The Kalabari may contest Mile one , Eagle Island, Iwofe ( Rumulumeni ) with the Ikweres but Kalabaris do not have time for that. The recent destruction of the KALABARI IKU-KIRI for the SAI PEN company too is not really of interest to the KALABARIS MAINLY BECAUSE THE KALABARIS indirectly Own those part of the city since they own all the properties there. Every other part of Port harcourt is Ikwere.
