LeRoyACCA:
Good Day Guys!

Many thanks for all those that have been updating this thread with valid information.

Please, I have some few queries and will like those that are in the finance/accounting field in UAE to please advise ME.

I'm a Chartered Accountant-ACCA-UK Member and also have passed CFA(US) level 1 and writing Level 11 CFA Exams by June'19 with more than 8 years relevant experience in Financial Modeling, ERP, Budgeting, Financial Planning & Analysis, etc.

Currently I' work as a Senior Financial Analyst here in Nigeria and make like..N500k per month. From my experience, it's really difficult for one to make above that without knowing someone (I might be wrong though).

Looking at coming to Dubai to job hunt and will like to know from those with local experience if its worth it and whats the best way to do go about it. I've had guys that have move from here and were lucky to find great jobs but all of them are in IT and not in Finance.

Any advice 'll be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

LeRoyACCA.
Leaving a job of 500k to job hunt in another country is sickening, personally I won’t advice it. Secure a job online from Nigeria don’t come and be dragging housekeeping job with Indians, I repeat Stay away from UAE visit visa for the sole purpose of job hunt... it’s more difficult to secure a job now as Africans honestly, regardless of your qualifications. An average Nigerian working in uae is looking to migrate to another country. A country where you can have a life and probably become citizen someday, and hey! If you’re going to be honest with yourself more than 30% of African immigrants in America don’t have 500k naira after tax, house rent and utilities

yes its confirmed, I applied for a 3month tourist visa 2weeks ago but am only been issued 1month right now.
Though I have rejected it and request for a refund while I would go ahead to apply for a direct employment visa instead!
I just wonder why a whole uae embassy came out to debunk the news couple of days ago whereas its trueeeeee
it’s not true, there’s 3months visa. Someone got his own today

Sorry if I don’t share your enthusiasm, take this to the business thread those people have more risk appetite,we all know being an entrepreneur is taking risk of uncertainty but this type of business is not for the faint hearted, my personal experience before leaving nigeria structured my reasoning as your whole savings can disappear right in front of you forget insurance or whatever. I know Business is the road to riches as treasury bill won’t necessarily make you rich but it’s a good investment portfolio + retirement plan and long as I keep adding monthly wealth is certain.

perhaps we can run the numbers to see exactly which option is better.

So state either the date you commenced the FD, or the tenor you're doing. That's one parameter that's yet needed.
Thanks I appreciate, the lost would be around 153k. I guess it’s better to hold till maturity

The whole of page 735 was all about I-invest whether it’s legit or not, whether to deal with bank or the app. Personally I won’t invest my hard earned money through I-invest but then everyone is entitled to their opinion, with that being said I’ll please advice everyone to ignore further response on it as there’s already enough message here to decide on.

I need public opinion, I have 8m fixed deposit at the rate of 8.5% that’ll mature may 23 but I’ve been contemplating on terminating and add more to invest in treasury bill at the secondary rate of 11.75% my bank already sent the form but my account officer said I’ll loose 25% of my accured interest if I terminate before maturity do y’all think it’s wise to terminate and invest on Tbills or hold to maturity.

My personal experience, I invest failed to care even with my money in their kitty. Las las I wasn't paid interest for the period the money was with them.
My bank, FBN confirmed money left my account to destination. I invest said they can't see my money. Sterling Bank said they are only bankers, it's between 2 customers so I go sort it out with I invest. I stay in Uyo, no I invest office. I then threatened my bank who then lodged a complaint with cbn and the threat made I invest to call me within 2 days and claim they have seen my money in their coffers. All this took away over 3 weeks from me and even when they claim interest will be paid for the period, they never did and I was contented with my capital. That was my personal frustrating experience.
Contented with your capital got me lol.

No bank will give you that rate. I'm currently running a FD with. First Bank Nigeria @6.8%. I'm on monthly rollover
You can’t say that conclusively, I have a 6m fixed deposit with ecobank @ 9% and 1m-5m will offer you 8.5%. Been running this for over 1year

Jeeez
so I have been wasting my money on fixed deposit since 2years
Principal of 2m on fixed deposit @ 8.5% for 91days will give you 42,000 so it’s really not a waste considering the flexibility of Fixed deposit. Overall Tbills is better but FD is not a bad investment aswell, Depends on how you see it tho

What about getting a job offer before coming, with salary details and other packages already confirmed.
90% of direct employment is a scam unlessif you’re dealing directly with the company but if you’re dealing with an agent smh. It’s either they overhype the terms like salary or job description or they give you 3months visa and leave you stranded. Uae visa is the most instrumental to scam gullible people because you can’t process it yourself from naija thus the need for agent

Bitter truth!!

As a Nigerian coming to the uae you need to prepare your mind for the worst, I put my statistics at 20/80. 20% of getting a job and 80% of not getting. Dont misquote me pls, there’s employment opportunities but very very scares for Africans, I fact getting a cleaning job as a Nigerian na struggle.

Your brother, cousin, Aunty, friend that promised you job when you come here is probably lying, na luck and Gods grace carry everyone of us reach here.
If you count 1-100 I’ll be among the ones with good job so don’t think I’m speaking from a frustrated perspective it’s a sad reality, they will probably not tell you the truth. Very few are lucky, there’s no harm in trying but don’t spend your last cash in coming cod it’s like playing bet9ja. I know few Nigerians doing well, working in nice establishment but from 2018 it’s more difficult. Just my 2cent. Yalla!

Tele: +971 528463580
Web: www.fna-ae.com

I am still in Nigeria and would like anyone to help tell if it is scam.
Scam. Judging from the uploaded offer letter, it looks fake as the stamp and signature was attached from MSword and also telephone number should be landline with extn number if they want you to communicate with a particular person. Overall as a uae resident for years I can suggest to you over and over again that it is fake it is now left to your discretion

With one month remaining in ur visa, I doubt if u will see a company that will agree to process ur employment visa and emirates I'd card, should in case u failed to get it, only three options left for u before ur visa expires, 1, you go for visa change at Oman if u still have enough money with u
2, stay illegal and work with out valid papers, is risk and it comes with penalty if u are caught
3, return to Nigeria with ur returning ticket and u must exit before the 90 days elapsed that's is 87 days to avoid paying for over stay penalty at the airport , good luck
This is so so wrong, you can get a job with 1 week left on your visa. Government companies like NCTH/ADNH will process your visa under 5days I’ve seen several cases and this type of advice is bad. Run from people like this

No doubt there’s a lot of discrimination against Africans in uae especially “Nigerians” an employer will prefer to employ other less qualified nationalities than Africans. But then don’t forget your destiny and star will also determine your faith here, I’m in Abu Dhabi and I can confirm to you that uae is way better than Nigeria, even in Nigeria our fatherland you have to hustle for job so why would you come to uae and rely on someone promising you job, person wey no get company here. Come prepared, come informed, be ready to start solmall and be contended. I know more than 6 Nigerians that got job in the last 3 months although it’s not a very big job but definitely not construction. We all know construction work is for bangalee people, Africans are strong no doubt but we can’t do hard job like this people. Attached is an offer letter of someone I know that got employed last month. Don’t ever be discouraged, lastly if you let people project their fears unto you and box you into not making moves you’ll never make it in life. UAE made me a millionaire and I’ll be forever grateful
