You are just ignorant... If you think I have posted the interior of a Venza come to our office and see for yourself. Mayb Uve not seen a ride like this before no problem we learn everyday.
It's open to everybody; come and see man!

Chief, you need to calm down. The rear interior you posted is not that of a GL450. You might want to check your pictures again. Secondly the car itself is not a 2010 GL450. It's somewhere between 2007 and 2009. The front and rear were redesigned in 2010 and it added LED fog lights to the front and exhaust pipes that are built into the rear bumper.
see attached pictures please and correct yourself especially when you are trying to sell a car.....

Thanks everyone ..am more scared to go ahead now

Which year are you planning to buy? If it's 2012 as suggested by someone then I'd take it that you can afford any maintenance because a 2012 C300 or C350 doesn't come cheap.
Why do you care about fuel consumption. Power and low fuel consumption are not used in the same sentence. If lower fuel consumption is on top of your list then go for a 1.8L engine and forgo the power aspect.

Most cars should last for a considerable length of time if it properly maintained. You said that you use the regular Mobil 20W50 for your current car and I hope that's not what you are planning for the 2012 C300/C350. These cars require specific fluids from engine oil to power steering to brake fluid to transmission fluid.
You need to be sure that you understand what you are getting into!!!!

Business / Re: Black Rhino, Dangote Conclude Plans To Invest $10bn In Kano, South East IPP by Nixon55(m): 11:08am On Mar 08, 2016
Emekamex:
Deceptive heading, the "South East" mentioned here is clearly Akwa Ibom from the article cited.
FYI, bulk of the investment will be in Lagos where Dangote's refinery is based, the only investment in Akwa Ibom is supplying gas from there to Lagos and Ghana.

Is it that they no longer teach reading and comprehension in Nigerian schools or just that the students outrighlty refuse to learn.
The article clearly stated that the Black Rhino group is investing in three power related projects.
1. Solar plant in Kano (100mw)
2. Coal power plant in South East (1000mw)
3. Gas pipe line from Akwa Ibom to Lagos and onwards to Ghana.

Is this hard to comprehend? What's the fuss about Akwa Ibom being in South East or South South?
Nigerian masses being their own enemies...

Chief, in buying a Range Rover or LR3, Fuel consumption should be the last thing on your mind. Gasoline is actually the cheapest part of driving a Range Rover if you understand what I mean! If fuel is your concern, what happens when a N200k component goes bad?

Car Talk / Re: Remove Thermostat From New Car by Nixon55(m): 8:32pm On Jan 13, 2016
ARABICAN:

Thanks bosses for your indirect advice, well, their points of removing it is that the weather temperature abroad is far far cooler than Naija own, and the thermostat delay the fan from starting up on time, this I noticed, the fan of my car may not start rolling for long period, and they (mechanic) said it may cause overheating over period of time.

Chai! No one is congratulating me for starting the New Year with a New Ride ... smiley

Do they remove thermostats in the UAE? Or their own cars don't have thermostats? Temperatures in the middle east gets up to 48deg and no place in Nigeria gets that hot. Some parts of the United States are even hotter than Nigeria in summer times.
Electric irons have thermostats and have you thought about removing it.
Cars go through several tests before they leave the factories and Nigerian mechanics are not smarter....
If you like subject your car to such surgery and may God help you.
I have driven several cars and none of them have their thermostats removed and they have served faithfully.
Autos / Re: Buy Decision: Lexus RX350 Or Toyota Highlander by Nixon55(m): 9:28am On Dec 25, 2015
Which Year?
The RX 350 comes with a 3.5L V6 with an AWD option while the Highlander from 2008 comes with the same 3.5L V6 and has 4WD option.
Both cars are from Toyota but the RX has a Lexus Badge which designates it as a luxury version.
So it depends on what you are looking for. The highlander limited edition would be the one that might come close to the RX350 with stuffs like Dual Zone Climate Control, Heated Seat, Leather Upholstery etc.

Talking from personal experience,MB is the most reliable brand of cars, mostly designed not to park u on D road, but will get home come what may,and their parts are designed to last longer, except there is another meaning of reliable, but if its same meaning as in the dictionary, then MB is designed for ruggedity and reliability.not beauty and luxury, and this is why most top shots go for the benz cos of its design to stand the test of time

When an item is reliable, it is bound to enjoy continued patronage from everyone. Toyota Camry being a best seller is not a Nigerian invention. it is a phenomenon that has its roots in the world's biggest auto market. The average person that buys a car just wants it to take him from point A to B with less hassle. He does not care about the 0-60 times or top speed of 200mph. A couple of people would care about that though but they don't count much. Do I like german cars? Yes of course. I drive an A6. But then I know my camry has been a lot more reliable than the A6.

Car Talk / Some Engine Sensor Functions Explained by Nixon55(m): 4:02pm On Sep 26, 2015
Sensor Reference Guide

Oxygen Sensors (O2)
Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)
Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)
Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT)
Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

Oxygen Sensors (O2)

Purpose:
Measure the amount of oxygen left in the exhaust stream to provide feedback to the computer about whether the air/fuel mixture is rich or lean.

Symptoms:
Poor fuel economy
Rich fuel mixture
Check Engine Light
Failed emissions test
Tech Tip: Test for O2 sensors in front of catalytic converter (S1B1 and S1B2 on your scantool).

With the engine warm, graph the O2 sensor output. Rev the engine to approximately 2000 RPM. A good sensor will oscillate from below 0.2 volts to above 0.8 volts, looking approximately like a sine wave. A bad sensor will be flat-lined and show no response to snapping the throttle. Test for O2 sensors behind the catalytic converter: Graph the rear and the front O2 sensor output. Rev the engine to approximately 2000 RPM. The front sensor will be oscillating actively. The rear sensor should show little reaction and stay at a midrange value (approximately 0.5 volts). If the sensor is flat-lined at zero volts, it has failed. If the rear sensor follows the oscillations of the front sensor, the sensor is good but the catalytic converter has failed.

Symptoms:
Oscillating front
Midrange back
Tech Tip: The computer compares the front and rear O2 sensors. A bad front O2 sensor can cause a rear sensor DTC. Never replace any O2 sensor without testing it first.

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)

Purpose:
Tells the computer what the throttle position is

Symptoms:
Stumble or hesitation on acceleration
Test: With the key on, engine off, graph the throttle position sensor output. Gradually press the accelerator to full throttle. The graph should ramp smoothly with no spikes or drop-outs.

Tech Tip: Most Throttle Position Sensors wear out just off the idle position.

Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAF)

Purpose:
Measures how much air is flowing into the engine

Symptoms:
Poor fuel economy. misfires, stumbles, hesitation
Tech Tip: Graph the MAF sensor voltage on your scantool. With engine at idle, a steady voltage should be visible on the graph. Tap lightly on the sensor housing. A good sensor will not react to the vibration. If the graph jumps, the sensor is bad and needs to be replaced. Next rev the engine and verify that the graph climbs smoothly in proportion to engine speed. A jump or slow-reacting graph indicates a failed or dirty sensor.

MAF related trouble codes are often caused by a leak in the air ducts leading to the sensor. If the MAF sensor is fouled it can often be cleaned with an aerosol electronics cleaner.

Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor (ECT)

Purpose:
Tells the computer if the engine is warmed up

Symptoms:
Poor fuel economy
Poor performance
Tech Tip: After sitting overnight, the Engine Coolant Temperature should equal the air temperature. As the engine warms, it will rise steadily to 200 to 230 degrees Fahrenheit.

Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT)

Purpose:
Tells the computer the temperature of the incoming air used to calculate the air density and fine-tune the air/fuel mixture

Symptoms:
Poor economy, stalling or rough idle when cold
Tech Tip: The Intake Air Temperature Sensor will read approximately equal to the outdoor temperature when the vehicle is moving. Most common cause of trouble codes related to the IAT are a bad connection, or a sensor left disconnected after servicing the air filter.

Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR)

Purpose:
While the EGR doesn’t typically have its own sensor, the system is important and a common cause of Check Engine Light problems. The EGR system mixes a controlled amount of exhaust gas with the intake air to properly control the combustion process

Symptoms:
Failed emissions test, detonation (pinging) under acceleration
Tech Tip: If the EGR valve is vacuum controlled, graph the MAF and front O2 sensors. With engine at idle, manually open the EGR valve (do not manually move an electrically driven EGR valve) and watch for reaction of the MAF and/or O2 sensors. If there is no reaction, the EGR passageways or the valve itself are likely to be clogged and need to be cleaned.

Car Talk / Re: Remotely Follow Your Vehicle Repairs Online by Nixon55(m): 12:16pm On Sep 21, 2015
Hi Gazzuzz,
A friend of mine has a 2007 Ford Edge SEL that has defied all forms of solutions. The car would only start after a couple of days and will drive for not more than a 100m and would stop. Fuel pump was changed after a couple of troubleshooting even though scanners didn't show any codes. The new fuel pump lasted for about 3 weeks and the same issue resurfaced again. I am thinking that it is fuel-pressure related though the scans that he has done yielded no result. His mechanic fed fuel directly into the fuel line that connects to the injectors and the car started but would go off once the car burns that fuel.
Please, that your guy in Port Harcourt is he good with car electrics. If he is, give me his number so that we can reach him. We need some professional touch on that car.
Thanks.

Talent?? Where is the talent?

That creation is rubbish! And if you guys can put emotion aside, and see this attempt at building a car for what it truly is, (garbage) you'll realise this is no different to the boxes with Peak milk cans as wheels most of us used to build when we were kids, back in the 1970's.

The only difference is ours were toys, while a full-grown man who supposedly has a brain is actually building this in 2015, and calling it a car! Come on, guys! angry

I'm all for encouraging local talent, but encouraging what has been posted here would mean insanity isn't too far away, neither are the men in white coats and big nets.

@Siena, I agree with your analysis.
I feel sad for the younger generations of this country. What that guy did was to weld metal plates together and put it on four bicycle wheels and then power it with a Bajaj Motorcycle Engine. What is ingenuity in that? Any welder on the streets can do the welding. The engine was not built by him obviously.
Nigerians should understand technology for what it is. Trying to start car manufacturing from the first principles in 2015 is just lame. The sensible thing to do is to support the likes of Innoson and Stallion and other brands to start car manufacturing in Nigeria. Innoson, even with his heavy investments is still struggling to convince people to buy its products. Automobiles are about safety of lives and no sane human being would endanger his life all in the name of patronizing one ill-conceived product.
China is big in other areas but they are not among top car manufacturers in the world. they have the likes of GM, Volvo, etc build plants in their country and then manufacture for them thereby making it cheaper and more affordable. Geely, which is a chinese car company is probably not rated anywhere among car manufacturers.
Can somebody please tell all these "wanna be" inventors and innovators that the ship of inventing automobile has sailed long ago. Nigeria has other problems that are unique to us that the so-called inventors should start considering. We having ecological disasters, pests, rodents, recycling issues, pollution control etc. "Inventing a car is no longer a quest, it has been done already by the likes of Ford, Daimler, Benz, etc."

Bro, thanks for your response. I am really enlightened. One more question pls, so what advantage do i have buying 2010 camry xle v6 over 2007 camry xle v6, if there isnt much of a difference as such.

Moreso is better for one to go for the 2007 version upgraded to 2010. Please let me know your thoughts.

A 2010 car is 5 years old and a 2007 is 8 years old. I would rather go for a 2010 though I don't really like the facelift. So for me I would buy a 2009 model as the difference in price with the 2007 won't be that much. As for 2007 model issues, I think it's specific to some batches. I drive a 2007 Camry xle v6 with date of manufacture as 06/2006 which means it is among the very first ones produced and it has not given me any issues even though I have driven it for quite some time.
Also know that maintenance is key to the longevity of any car regardless of how reliable it has been designed to be.

I think it is just the LED rear lights, New styled headlamps, front grille, and front bumpers.
The engine is still the same 3.5L V6 268hp (2GR-FE), 6-spd auto transmission.

The one that has a significant change is the I4, where it moved from 2.4L (2AZ-FE) to 2.5L (2AR-FE).
Crime / Re: How Do We Effectively Curb Sexual Offences In Nigeria? by Nixon55(m): 4:45am On Aug 02, 2015
@OP..thanks for the topic. I understand your passion.

Most people make light of rape until it affects them closely before they start thinking of solutions. It's our mentality and reorientation is key to enlighten our people in various areas. The same way people feel less concerned when they see accident victims until one of their own is involved in an accident. I think empathy should be thought and promoted in Nigeria so that people would actually feel what others are going through to an extent.

On ways to curb sexual offences, I believe stiff penalities should be enforced. Blacklisting convicted offenders should be one them. I know we don't have a complete database but let's remember that every bank account holder has his biometric data captured during the the BVN exercise. Every drivers' licence holder has his biometrics somewhere with FRSC. Every International Passport holder has his data with the NIS. So blacklisting can be achieved to an extent if laws are made to support sexual offenders list. Laws can also be made such that schools run background checks on would be teachers/minders and made to pay heavy fines if they don't or if they falsify it.

In my opinion, rape for minors should carry life imprisonment with no option of parole. It won't stop it completely but it would deter some people. Indonesia has death penalty for drug trafficking though it has not completely eliminated drug trafficking but it has deterred a lot of people from heading in that direction.
On the alternative, if anyone is convicted of rape he should be made to join the "civilian JTF" and be shipped to fight alongside the military in the North East against Boko Haram since his mind is idle enough to think about raping someone.

Overall, everyone needs to take the campaign against rape seriously and not make excuses about indecent dressing. If you can control yourself when you see people that are not dressed decently then you shouldn't make excuses for those who can't. They just have depraved minds and should bear the consequences of their actions.

Sir, my degree helps me to be able to decipher things and helps in making the right decisions. It shows me that there are better and more convenient ways of making it to the top, it doesn't guarantee me getting that dream job,but it helps me in creating my own brand. That the world economy is in shambles doesn't mean I should endanger my life for a purpose that is just out to benefit the business owner. What do you think the life expectancy of a truck driver on Nigerian road is? At the training we were told that a person dies every 11 seconds in motor related accidents, add that to what's happening up north, and that's where ur market is. Now this was the question I asked Mr Carlos, if after travelling with the truck for about 350,000km one was unfortunately involved in a ghastly accident and terrible damage was incurred on the person, what then happens, since there is no insurance or medical package and one won't be able to fulfill the terms of the contract. U can guess his answer............. Its a contract and the terms are biding, if the terms are not honoured then the contract is off, irrespective of the reasons.

Sure I understand your feelings. You have the right to turn down job offers using your own discretion. You have all the details to make that decision and it's entirely yours. This job(contract) might not be for you or for most people and I wouldn't even blame anyone for turning it down considering the high rate of road accidents in Nigeria. My point is that we hold to our degrees so tightly that it blinds us to salient opportunities.
Good luck in your quest for better opportunities.
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Dangote 28,000 Job Creation. My Experience by Nixon55(m): 7:31am On Jul 12, 2015
bookface:

Another graduate with self entitlement and delusions of grandeur. The fact that you went through the walls of a university does not imply that the world owes you a living. Labour jobs are not the sole preserve of the uneducated - neither does a university education exempt you from getting your hands dirty. You do not only sound rude, the manner in which you berate a job that many would have gladly accepted - but for lack of opportunity - leaves one with nothing but dismay.

How does Dangote enslave you by offering you a job - which pays, at least (i assume) the national minimum wage - and concludes with other offers such as the opportunity to take the truck with you after a set period of time? You had the right to say no - you did so - well done, move on and let someone else take the job if they wanted to - where exactly is the enslavement part? Here in the UK, there are PHD grads who work at the bar and earn the minimum wage - there's no shame in doing a honest work, if it provides you a living.

I bet many of you treat your maids/security guards to much worse offers.

The company is not happy to bear risk? You don't say - tell me who is? While in principle, this is not ethically right, it is not the company's responsibility to regulate itself. The company's sole preserve is bottom line profits - it is in its interest to cut down its cost, insurance claims, expenses - as much as possible. In a capitalist economy, the company is expected to do so, even if that meant exploiting the weak labour laws of the country. This is why as a citizen, you should vote representatives whose responsibilities will be to improve existing laws to make working conditions fairer for their electorates.

Another way to see this - if the company were to account for insurance costs for all its drivers, it would either have to hire less people ( which implies that you probably wouldn't have had the opportunity in the first place) or it will have to pass the cost on to consumers, which will somehow affect your wallet nonetheless.

Every company wants to determine your life, why single out Dangote? There are those in 9-5 jobs who spend up to 2 hours travelling in between - In the end, they spend their whole day working for the company and all that is left is the weekends and public holidays.
This is a tough job - you can take it or you can take a hike.

Is composing a good text message necessary to do the job? There are several jobs where the main requirement is a good work ethic and the good ol' common sense.

"insult on every graduate" - so you went to a school eh? and you think you are first of your kind eh? or you think you are now somewhat smarter than those who didn't?

Here's a bit of an advise for you - there are three ways to get by

a) If you have a skill set - either through formal or informal education - then sell it to the highest bidder and demand a premium for your skill

b) If no one is willing to pay enough for your skill, then roll the dice, monetize your skill set - set up your own business and see where the night takes you

c) If like any other "graduate" - your skill set is not unique or you cannot monetize it - then nothing makes you special really. You have to start really low like every one else and then work your way to the top, looking out for opportunities as they come your way.

I personally would likely hire a Dangonte driver - who tells me about his experience on the job, and the times he has had to make difficult decisions. To me, this person is likely very trainable, and will bring some soft skills -like negotiation, decision making - etc to my company. I would take this person any day, over someone else who spent the last three years of their lives- after graduation - doing nothing because they are too "cushy" for a driver job.

You are so on point! Most Nigerian graduates think their degrees are worth gold or even diamond. This country graduates tens of thousands of people from different disciplines every year and the rate of job creation is so minute. I have seen people stay at home for several years all in the name of looking for the big jobs. Until people understand that global economy is in a mess and not going to be better anytime soon. Greece is a typical example. It used to be a developed economy but now going through hell. Greek banks have been closed for two weeks now. Let's us wake up from our slumber as young people and build our lives. The government can do very little.
FYI.. some people graduated from schools that costs over $40k a year and you have to compete with them!!!

Wike said Julius Berger and CCECC would be on ground.Ive been using GPS to look for them instead all i see are minor Road patching equipment being used by his "boys". PH is a construction site indeed... grin

Instead of you guys to acknowledge the mistake you made by voting This Man in (or rather by allowing his illegality to stand), you prefer the Easy way out....Force him Down our throats as a success when hes not.

Amaechi tackled issues properly.what we need in rivers State are PROPERLY CONSTRUCTED ROADS.
wike should stop patching roads that NEED TOTAL RECONSTRUCTION.
what hes doing is just hurriedly doing things to give the impression hes working when in actual fact,he wants to get tongues wagging. We are not children.

Bros you are on point. Sometimes I wonder if people knew what PH was like before Amaechi started dualizing the roads. For the records, PH-Aba Rd was the only major dual carriage way in Port Harcourt. The likes of Old Aba Road, Trans-Amadi (Slaughter to Rumuobioakani), Stadium Road, Ada George, Market Road, Nwaja, etc... was done by Amaechi.
Let Wike Pick up new roads and work on. There's Woji road (from Woji junction to Alcon road), Trans-amadi (slaughter to Garrison), Iwofe road, Rupoku-Eneka Road, Rumuokwurushi - iguruta road, etc... There's no need to make noise. Prove that you are better than Amaechi. That's what the masses want to see. Let me not even talk about the heaps of refuse that is every where in Port Harcourt. Hello guys, pls I'm about doing business with a nairalander called kakaki. I want you guys to serve as his referee so I can know the type of person I'm dealing with & know if I can entrust him with my hard-earned 8months money.

I'm sending part of the money to his account for him to help me ship a benz from Germany. Your response will be appreciated.

Thanx guys.

I bought a 2001 Audi A6 in Germany through Kakaki. I have never met him before but I trusted him and he delivered a classic clean Audi to me. I was so impressed with that transaction and his level of communication that I gave him another business for a highlander which he bought from the US and its already on its way to Nigeria. I still have another business lined up with by Q3.
Finally, it's your call to make but I can tell you that he is one of the most trusted guys that I have done business with online. Till today we have not met in person but we chat and talk on phone as we've known for many years.
So chief, it's your call and if your liver can carry it then go ahead.
Thanks.

Car Talk / Re: 2001 Audi A6 C5 Instrument Cluster by Nixon55(m): 4:23pm On May 18, 2015
Siena:

The IMMO microprocessor is housed within the instrument cluster, so yeah, it will need to be coded to your existing ECU and key/s.

Ok thanks Siena.
Send me also the cost of the centre LCD alone at least it won't require coding after changing just the LCD. Let me Weigh the two options. Changing the whole cluster is quite some work.
