Education / Federal Government Of Nigeria Scrap Post Utme by nob7(m): 3:41pm On Jun 03, 2016
Federal Government Of Nigeria Scrap Post UTME – This is just coming in now now. We have finally gotten the go ahead to announce to the generality of the masses that The Federal Government have finally scrapped off the conduct of post Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) for all candidates who are seeking admission into higher institution. This stipulates that tertiary institutions as it where do have a full liberty to conduct screening for candidates seeking admission into any school. Adamu Mallam Adamu Adamu the Minister of Education, was on hand to deliver this information in the early hours of Thursday in Abuja after openly declaring the 2016 Combined Policy Meeting on Admissions to Universities, Polytechnics and other higher institutions in Nigeria. From the way Mallam Adamu Adamu sounded via his speech, it appeared that the Minister of Education expressed some full level of confidence in the examination that been conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), adding that there was no need for other examination to be conducted by universities after JAMB. “As far as I am concerned the nation has confidence in what JAMB is doing. The universities should not be holding another examination and if the universities have any complain against JAMB let them bring it and then we address it. “If JAMB is qualified enough to conduct tests and they have conducted test then there will be no need to conduct another test for students to gain admission.” Further more, Mallam Adamu Adamu directed the JAMB board to stop extra charges on several categories of changes on admissions which includes change of course, change of school and others. We also had a report from the seen that JAMB has pegged the cut off mark for admission for 2016 at 180. Which means that 180 will be the benchmark, and it will apply to all universities and higher institutions in the country, including polytechnics, colleges of education, and others. According to JAMB’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, after a long debate with delegates from various institutions, told journalists that no institution would go below the 180 cut-off set by the board but for some exception. Prof. Dibu Ojerinde said: “180 is given, no institution will go below 180 this year, And some universities can go above it, I know University of Ife will not go below 200 and University of Lagos will not go below 200 and also UI. All these ones stand but 180 as bench mark for others. “This year we have more than enough candidates, we have over 1.5 million candidates so we will get enough candidates to take in all the schools if they are serious. Re-distribution is already ongoing, because it is embedded in the registration procedure.” Well, i do not know how the generality of the public will take this. But whatever be their reactions, we will let everyone know about it. But for the now, lets hope this will get us to our destined educationa system.
Education / Unical Shutdown As ASUU Goes On A 7 Days Strick by nob7(m): 6:56pm On May 04, 2016
Unical Shut Down As ASUU Goes On A Seven Days Solidarity Strike Over Recent Kidnaps And Security Threats On Lecturers Life is not the same again for Academic Staff of Universe of Calabar. In the late hours of yesterday the 2nd of June 2016 three persons were abducted by men of the underworld. The affected persons were the wife and daughter of an academic staff in the medical college Dr. Ndifon and the son of Barr Aniema of the graduate school. While attempts were made on five different families, only the families of Dr. Aniema and Dr. Ndifon fell into the hands of men of the underworld. The security men inclusive of soldiers and police men were quickly called but before they could reach the vicinity, the men had whisked away with the abducted persons through a ready speed boat in the riverine area of the University. The security challenges in the University seems not unabated as the university security seems too unequipped to contain the sophisticated armory of the men of the underworld. The security challenge is made complex due to the terrain that has an adjournment of both a thick bush and a river that serves an escape root for criminals after their nefarious activities Unable to contain the security threats, the Academic Staff Union of University, Unical Chapter had declared a 7 day solidarity strike to call on the University management, the state and federal government to come to his their aid. Meanwhile an ad hoc committee has been formed to look at the holistic security challenges and make recommendations to the university management and government

Religion / Three Phones Gone Missing In Our Room( Touching Story) by nob7(m): 6:17pm On Apr 17, 2016
Touching Story. About three phones have gone missing in our room in the past five months. When we reported to the School's security, they only told us that it was a roommate that is responsible. Everyone of us in the room was waiting for the day we will catch the culprit. Last Tuesday, when we were all asleep; I think it was about 2 am, Ben woke up suddenly and his phone was gone. His phone was the most expensive of us all. When Ben woke up and couldn't find his phone, he sprang up from the bed and quickly opened his cupboard. He rummaged the contents, even removed his clothes but could still not find the phone. I was in the room when it happened; sitting and reading before I dozed off with my heading resting on my books. So when Ben couldn't find his phone, he gently shook my shoulders until I woke up. 'It has happened again', he told me. I didn't even need to ask what happened as I could see the panic and loss written in his eyes. This is the second time his phone had been stolen. So I took my phone and dialed Ben's number; just to be sure it had not been misplaced. 'Error in Connection' was what I saw on the screen of my phone. I dialed it again and it started ringing not just on my phone, but the actual ring tone of Ben's Samsung phone was faintly audible. We were both surprised when we heard the tone. I beckoned on Ben to keep quiet as he was visibly ready to 'finish' the person who took his phone. I continued dialing as we moved silently, following the direction of the ring tone. There were four bunks in the room, each with two bed spaces. Ben and I use the same bunk just beside the door and the sound was coming from the last bunk at the extreme left corner. We tiptoed, Ben and I, like Jack Baeur until we traced the sound to the top bed space on the last bunk. 'So it is John who had been stealing phones in this room'. Ben whispered to me. We shook his leg and woke him up only to find out it was not John sleeping on the mattress. Neither of us had ever seen the guy before. To make matters worse, the ringing was coming from the bag he was using as pillow. When he woke up, he looked at us strangely as if he didn't know why we were there. We opened the bag and found not just Ben's Samsung, but three other phones. 'So, you are the one who's been stealing our phones!'; Ben shouted at him. Before he could find an excuse, Ben slapped him on his left cheek and walked out looking for anything to break one or two of the guy's bones. I don't know; but there was something about the guy. So I asked him, 'Oga, what are you doing here?' 'What are you doing with Ben's phone'. He was just looking at me without saying anything, so I slapped his right cheek with my left hand. 'ANSWER ME!', I screamed at him; waking up the roommates who were around. John had obviously gone to night class to read and I assumed the other three roommates who were absent had also gone to read. The two guys remaining in the room with me and Ben came and gave their own round of slaps. The accused was now staggering when Ben came back with a long wood hard enough to kill the guy. As he raised it up, the three of us, the roommates, held his hands so he wouldn't murder the accused. Ben dropped the wood and swept his right leg against the thief's legs and he fell down. Ben had told me before that he had attended the Soldiers' recruitment training but failed the medical test. I believed him right then. I looked at the guy crumple on the floor and before Ben killed him, I decided to interview him, at least to know who he is. He was now sitting on the ground where he landed from Ben's force. 'Who are you?' I asked him again; this time gently. He was crying but it was only the tears that were coming out. It was then I realized he had not even uttered a word since it all started. Not even when he fell to the ground. 'Why are you in our room'? I asked again. 'Can you even talk?' He shook his head then. I was now confused. Why was he shaking his head? So, I asked again, 'Can't you talk?' He shook his head again. 'Wait, is it that this guy is dumb?', I asked the guys. The guy then nodded his head and pointed to his mouth and then shook his head left to right. It hit me then. The guy is dumb but not deaf. That was the first time I am seeing a case like that. My anger changed to pity immediately. 'Are you dumb?', I ashamedly asked the guy to confirm. Again, he nodded his head. 'Can you read and write?' He nodded again. 'Get me a pen and note!' I said to my roommates over my shoulder. I collected the pen and wrote on the note, 'Who are you? Explain yourself.' I was almost in tears as I read his fine handwriting, 'My name is James, I am John's elder brother. I am a student of Delta State University. I was traveling to Delta but our bus stopped for the night at Benin. So I decided to sleep with my brother till tomorrow morning. He brought me here around 12 am and went out to night class to read. He gave me the bag to keep for him. So I decided to use it as pillow so that it won't be stolen'. I held the note with the guys at my back as all of us read it. I became so weak I almost fell. 'The guy is innocent.' I needlessly announced. When we realized this, even I was ashamed of myself. Ben just stood there with the wood he almost used to hit him, looking as if he was the one who had been beaten. I am not sure, but I think I saw tears in his eyes as he realized he had just punished an innocent man. So we knelt down; Ben and I, we knelt down and clasped our hands so he will know we were really sorry. With tears in our eyes, we told him, 'We are sorry. Sorry for accusing you wrongly and beating you for it'. The dumb guy just smiled with bleeding lips from the blow I gave him. He smiled and looked into our eyes. And I could see pity in his eyes. He smiled and shook his head and then wrote in the same paper. 'It is Alright. I took the pain willingly. Please don't beat my brother anymore. I knew why you were beating me. John had always been a thief, right from home. But please don't report or beat him again'. Tears dropped from my eyes as I read his sacrifice. He deliberately allowed us beat him just so that John will be free. I lend my hand and raised him up as I used my cloth to wipe the tears from his face and blood from his lips. It was then my own tears flowed from the corners of my eyes. .. this is what Jesus did for us on the cross of calvary. kept quiet and even died so that we can be saved. He never protested his innocence but bore it all for us. He gave his life for you. What have you given for him? Return the life to Him, He's in Love with u..... Send to others by sharing.... it's high time we won more souls for Christ..

Jokes Etc / My Funny Experience Yesterday (joke) by nob7(m): 6:14am On Apr 01, 2016
Yesterday, I was very hungry, And since my girlfriend wasn't around to cook a delicious meal for me, I went to a supermarket to pick something to eat. As I was walking, I noticed a man staring at me. I looked at the man and kept walking to the front counter to pick Gala. As I picked it, I turned to see the man right in front of me. I smiled and greeted him, then went on to get Coke. The man followed me through the store. I was getting a little nervous and angry because he was following me without saying anything. Trying to be friendly I said, ''Hi!'' The man finally said, he is sorry for staring at me, but I look like his youngest son. They just buried him two weeks ago. I felt so stupid for getting mad as I expressed my sincerity to him. He said he was fine as he knows his son is with the Lord. Then he asked me to do him a Favor. I said, ''Of course, if i can''. He said he was a bit sad that his son never said goodbye before passing on. He asked me to get in line behind him, and as he left the store I should say, Goodbye dad! So that he can have a sense of closure. Though his request was weird, I however agreed to grant him. As he collected his bags from the cashier and walked away, I said, ''Goodbye dad!''. He turned and said, ''Goodbye my dear son!''. When the cashier calculated my bill she said the total is 20,500 Naira. I screamed, ''For what? How can a Coke of 120 Naira and 50 Naira Gala turn to that amount?''. He replied, ''Your dad said you are paying for his bill too!''. ..guess what happened next.. .. .. .. .. I fainted!

Education / How Much Time Should You Devote To Studying? by nob7(m): 9:17am On Mar 13, 2016
You have approximately 16 waking
hours a day to spend on this "job" of
academia. We can assume you might
spend 2-4 hours in class, 2-3 hours
socializing (a sports team, a club,
activity, playing video games or just
talking with friends), 2 hours eating,
and 2 hours in hygiene/chores. That
leaves me with 5-8 hours a day for studying.... how long do you study in a day?
