Guys, you don’t need to be confused . If you just patiently read through to the end of the instructions, you’d have seen drop off is at DHL.

cerezo:
Tbh, i'm confused too. See screenshot below. Drop-off used to be at DHL office, but it's a bit different this time.

FOR someone who has already picked Lagos, is it possible to switch to abuja?
if yes..what do i need to do?

fill a new ds 160 form?

Yes, retrieve an application with your old DS 160 number and follow the prompt to start a new application. Essentially, it fills the new application with the same details in the old one but be careful to still review every bit. Then change the location to Abuja, if that’s your choice before you submit.

In you CGI portal, be careful to update your new DS 160 as well. Then you can use Abuja for your appointment. It’s your choice!

Just got my passport back exactly 2 weeks after i sent it. If you have the money, just save yourself the emotional stress and send your documents to the Abuja vfs. They're more reliable and definitely faster than Lagos vfs from the stories I've been reading.

- 20th November: I'm in Abuja so i went to dhl office with my documents (it was a Friday so i didn't expect anything). Paid for 2 way courier.
- 23rd November: Tracked my package through dhl, it was received and signed for by someone in the vfs office.
- 24th November: Got 3 emails from vfs that my package has been sent to ircc.
- 30th November: Another email from vfs that my passport was under process with ircc.
- 2nd December: Email that the decision envelope has been dispatched from ircc to vfs. Counterfoil dropped, and status changed to approved.
- 3rd December: 4 emails from vfs (they sent the same email repeatedly). LOI dropped same day.
- 4th December: Passport received from dhl.

It’s a wrap for me! Just got my passport back too. Got PPR 20/11, so exactly two weeks for me too. I also stay in Abuja and used two way courier UPS.

This confirms Abuja is better to send passport to and two way courier is honoured. I paid 3,400.

Wish everyone well!

PhD students usually get 4 years, depending on the expiration date on your passport. Even if you get less than 4 years, you shouldn't worry. You can always renew these things from inside Canada.

Alright then, thanks!

Congrats to all making progress and to all waiting, may you get good news soon.

@Fratermathy, how many years do Phd students usually get for their TRV? Is there a fixed number of years or it varies?

On the passport submission issue, I think Abuja VO is quite efficient. Submitted PP on 23/11 and got counterfoil yesterday. As at this morning, I have gotten the VFS mail that says PP ready for collection. I used 2 way courier, so I’d come back to drop feedback on that once I get my PP.

Good morning all.

Please one question that begs to be answered here is:

Has anyone received their passports back without having to pay the VFS in house courier fee? Obviously, using a two way courier service to send passport to them.

@fratermathy, et al.

BVL dropped 3.37am!

July Applicant. Received AIP Sept 8th. No update afterwards. Followed @ Lekibobos hint to go ahead to do an upfront medical after waiting for an update for about 2 months after AIP. Did upfront medicals on 5th November. Profile updated with medical passed on 12th November. BVL today.

No address on AIP or BVL but I also followed some suggestions here and sent a webform once to Beijing and Nairobi to enquire about the status of my application (about 2 weeks ago).

Congratulations to you and others who have gotten their PPRs.

Since the VAC in Nigeria not currently accepting passports, how will the passports be stamped? Can they be sent to other VACs?

Isn’t the attached the status quo in Nigeria?

The issue of Applicants having issues with their UPFRONT Medicals bin updated on their Profiles can't be ruled out.
Like I said initially, no two application is the same. When I did my Upfront Medical, it was the same day I forwarded the E-medical Sheet to them (via Webform & Nairobi E-mail Address). I was even expecting them to Update it in my profile within 3-days, not until 2-weeks later bfor it got updated on my CIC Profile.

I can remember someone here said he/she sent incessant Webforms to CIC Nairobi & also mails to CIC Nairobi's Email address, before getting the Upfront Medical updated in his Profile.

I think COVID-19 Pandemic is the cause of all this, cos before the advent of AIP, there is a kind of breath of Fresh Air when an Applicant gets a Medical Request.

Like IRCC said

" They can't assure anyone on how soon an Applicant can get a response/update on their application, the COVID-19 Pandemic has made us not able to process applications speedily"

In my own opinion, Since u av an AIP, u shouldn't av a problem doing an Upfront Medical.

Thanks @Lekiboboe for your swift responses all the time. I’d wait till the end of October and if nothing changes, I’d go ahead with the upfront medical.

Lekiboboe:

Really,

you should av done an Upfront Medicals since you got an AIP.

The thing is, Most times no two application is the same.

In my own case, I got AIP & 6 days later I did an Upfront Medical and 2 weeks later it was updated to PASSED on my CIC PROFILE

So, if you recall, some persons were having troubles with their upfront medical getting updated on their profiles. So I just chose to wait to get a MR to avert those issues. And that’s what has kept me here till now. But the lack of update since AIP is beginning to make one uncomfortable too.

Lekiboboe:

In my own opinion, I don't think there should be a problem on that as far as u have done medicals passed it,

It seems AIP has changed the Arrangements of Application, some applicants with AIP got Medical Request while some didn't

This leaves me with a question for clarification purpose,
Should an Applicant who got AIP, has done BIOMETRICS, did an Upfront Medical (Passed) still be
expecting a Medical Request again?

Hi @Lekiboboe,

So I did not do an upfront medical. No medicals at all. Do you get now? That’s why I am expecting a MR.

Are there people that received AIP and haven’t gotten medical requests? Got mine since Sept 8 and since then nothing. Just wondering if there are others like me...

Congrats boss, i applied july 6th, eligibility started first week of august, done biometrics too on 24th, and upfront medical still hoping and waiting. I have never been this worried and anxious in my life. Already enjoying my lecturers and course mates.

Did you recieve your AIP via mail or in your account?

I was quite anxious myself. My classes commenced on 1st of this month and I joined in from the start too.

I received a mail to check my account and the pdf file ‘other’ which has the ‘AIP’ details had been added to the other files.

Why can’t they just channel their energies to updating the statuses of our applications, negative or positive?!

I don't think it worth being worried about as your biometrics details and expiration date is already reflecting on your mycic account. Upon processing your study permit application, the responsible immigration officer will update your biometrics as "completed".

It will end in praise.

Okay then, thank you.

Good morning all.

Please for those that have done biometrics, does your biometrics still show ‘we have not received your fingerprints ...’ ? I did my biometrics on Monday and even though my app now has the biometrics no in the same place where we have UCI and Application No, the biometrics place in the progress section still has ‘we have not received your fingerprints ...’ It’s this normal?

Any help with this, please?

Hello Noms11,

Your application have been received successfully. Thereafter, the commencement of the processing.

What is the eligibility review and background check stating?

All the best

Applied July 8th

We are processing your background check... a day or two after.

24th July - We are reviewing whether you meet eligibility... ( Then status began to show ‘Your Action Required’ I guess Cos of pending biometrics)

8th August - Status changed to ‘Submitted’. It’s been like that since then!

Hello,

Please can someone really explain what happens when the application status changes from ‘Your Action is Required’ to ‘Submitted’ and has remained like that for about two weeks.

Those that got AIP did you observe this in your accounts and what do your statuses currently show?

Thanks!

@justmellow, any thoughts on this?

Please what does your current status show when you log into your CIC account? That’s before you click on ‘view full application’

Hello guys!

I applied for my Study permit on the 16th of June and didn't get any update on my application until I ordered for my GCMS notes 15 days ago.

I just received the notes now to discover that I FAILED the eligibility review done on the 17th of July, 2020.

Part of the reasons for the denial includes ; no travel history and inadequate funds, weak family ties.

I acknowledge that I do not have any travel history and was single when I did the application (married now though). I will defer my admission and use the next 6 months to get travel experience and increase my POF and then reapply again. Unfortunately, my course can only be started in the fall term, so I will be defering to Fall 2021.

I am pained but not discouraged. We will do this once again.

I am grateful to everyone for the knowledge I have gotten from this forum.
