Got my Blue Card. Took two weeks after applying. Tho there is bureaucracy here in Germany.

I would find some time to put up a wiki so people can be guided.

cc @Sam8850

I think people need to know what to expect in Germany before they decide to come. It's very good to be here but beware that it's not a capitalist society like the USA. It's a socialist country. They tax you heavily but things work here. Lowest crime rate.

It's not that easy here but it's better than Nigeria if you know what you are doing here.

Congrats man!.

The WIKI would indeed be helpful

Hello Guys,

Decided to share this so as to encourage others.

Had my Visa interview on December 17th, 2018. Questions asked were the same as posted earlier by others.

5 weeks later, I received the mail requesting that I provide insurance details and confirmed travel date.
My employer had already informed me in week 3 that approval had been granted by the foreign office .

Visa was delivered earlier this week, week 7.

Special thanks to Sam, who took time to help out in the early days. I went with so many copies that Mr. Paulinus was confused, I was confused too at some point cheesy

My profile, I am currently an SAP ABAP developer with over 5 years experience. Preceding that, i have 5 years experience in other fields like Java and Oracle ERP.

Leaving in some weeks. Wish me luck guys. smiley

Congrats and goodluck!

I think it would be really helpful if you spend some time to post some questions or some info for newbies so at least they also can benefit. cc @ NRIAGUDUBEM also.

I'm not trying to force you but it feels great after learning a lot from this group you also give back in any little way you can. Post in forum so others can learn

Please read this first to understand the basic concepts. These applies to Berlin as I do not know about other states.

There is a bureaucracy here... You must have a Schufa, bank account, contract or payslips of three months before you can get a house.

Just read about the Anmeldung and most importantly get a house that allows you to do it. That way you can bypass the bureaucracy and have all your documents registered. If you have money use wunderflats. Else check the fb groups in the article.

Hello, how did your appointment session go ?

The appointment went well. She asked me similar questions which were already listed in this thread at some point
It was relatively straight forward questions.

Mehn Bro you have to really calm down and if you have a job here in Naija hold on to it until the day you get your visa you can just resign.

I am in your situation or should better say was in your situation, I needed to leave in a month but it took me 2 months before I got an appointment (mainly because I didn't know what time to check for appointment) then eventually went for my interview in November and till now I'm yet to get my visa. Once you go for your interview just pray and hope to be lucky as you may get your visa within 2 weeks or longer, so let your employers know it may take longer time.

Hello, wanted to know what kinda questions would be asked for the work permit VISA interview.
Also, I just hope you receive your VISA ASAP.
Am beginning to be sked about the duration for processing the VISA, cos I got interview next week

I am applying for family reunion visa. Had my interview in October and I guess verification is complete even though I didn't get an email on that. My spouse has a blue card and has been invited to the foreign office for an interview next week. God's willing we'll get a favourable response this month.

I have been checking the website for an appointment since late December, but I havent seen any. Is this how tough it is to get an appointment? Who knows how I can easily get a work permit appointment at the Lagos embassy?
