Theflint1: Thanks chief, checked the engine oil dipstick, not milky white, but the radiator cover, I noticed a hole on the head of the radiator tank, and I don't think that hole was there before. I attached the image for reference...do I need to change the tank, or it can be fixed?
If that hole is your issue, once the engine gets to operating temperature, you will see water/coolant or steam escaping from there so run the test, if that is the issue, replace the radiator tank.
Theflint1: Hello house, please what could be the issue?
A couple of days ago, doing my regular morning oil and water check, I noticed that the water in the radiator had reduced, I topped it off and used the car for the day. On my way home I was getting notification from the dashboard that I should check coolant...got home and a couple hours later I opened the engine to see if the water in the radiator had dried, only to see that I forgot to cover the rubber radiator tank (I left the lid on the engine instead), I replaced the water in the radiator, and since then, the water from the radiator keeps evaporating and telling me to check coolant. I know my forgetting to cover the radiator has caused something, please any ideas on what the problem might be?
leakage 1. check the engine oil dipstick, if milky white is noticed then the gasket has been affected by the high temperature and the water or coolant is mixing with the engine oil.
2. if the dipstick is clean, then change the radiator cover, probably as you left it on the engine, the heat has damaged the rubber and it can no longer hold pressure.
3. if after changing the radiator cover it is still same, then you need to check the radiator itself, it may be faulty.

Makes sense, I think I will take time to look for the exact gasket, another thing I want to know is if the top MUST be grinded when changing the gasket
Since it's over heating I believe they will have to grind it, but the technician fixing it should know all that.
Thanks a lot for this input as am really worried, a car I bought less than 2months ago and now I have to change gasket
I think the follow come gasket is iron, are you suggesting the mechanic should get another iron gasket to replace the burnt gasket or should he use fiber gasket, which is what is mostly obtainable in the market
if the gasket is made of iron, he should replace it with iron gasket, all this fiber I don't get.
klenton: I have a Lexus Es 350, the car recently overheated and I noticed some milky substance mixed with the engine oil, which suggest that my top gasket could have burnt and I now intend to change it.
but my worry is whether the car will remian the same after changing the top gasket, the car was just bought last year November.
secondly I want to know the kind of gasket I should use to replace the burnt one, should I get the same iron gasket which the car comes with or I should use the fiber gasket as replacement (the fiber gasket is what my mechanic actually recommends we use)
2GR is an aluminium engine, ensure the mechanic checks the block well for compromise because if the internal components are compromised you need to get a replacement engine not changing gasket. If the block and internal component are okay, then the gasket should be iron (i believe graphite) and he shouldnt double the gasket oooo.
fineboynl: lol last year before tinubu comes in to spoil every. Some but transmission for rx330 650k. Only transmission. When they mounted it transmission fluid will leaking underneath it. What can they do? Transmission that was waybill from lagos?
is like you dont know what 1mzfe engine is. it is a 3.0L engine fitted to RX300,Avalon, highlander and first gen sienna. he isnt talking about 3mzfe (3.3L)
Tucode: Hello guys, please I need your suggestions. My friend is about buying a car, 2017 Honda Accord to be exact. He has the option of choosing between a tokunbo car and a Nigerian used that was bought brand new in 2021 from Honda dealership in Lagos. The person that owns the Nigerian used car is selling because he is relocating from the country. The tokunbo is expensive because of the import duties and all but he really doesn’t mind. He just wants to know which will be better. The Nigerian used is tokunbo standard clean from the pictures but his worry is that he believes that even though they’re both Honda cars, he feels that the one produced for the American market will be more durable and reliable than the ones sent to the West African markets. Could this be true? Should he go for the Nigerian used since it is significantly cheaper than the tokunbo?
a 2021 honda accord bought new in nigeria is a good deal. carry your technician along and scan, let him certify the condition, all those tokunbo too are used vehicles and mostly accidented and packaged.
wait you bought a 1mzfe with VVti for 540k toyota owners dey suffer sha. engine ooo without transmission even if it has compressor, alternator and kickstarter 540k for 1mzfe is fu*king expensive. engine that was 120k in 2019 nawa ooo
fineboynl: Just wondering if one can use them as temporary home in some state in Nigeria instead of buying land or renting apartment in far away states
Yes you can, Govt has no problem with that. But it's a vehicle, expect serious trouble in tout infested areas cause you have to get sticker of all those haulage vehicles whether your plate is blue or Red.
stevebankz: My car is a 07/08 Toyota Camry V6 , with a 22 pin gearbox , i first noticed that my reverse was jerking and will eventually off whenever i try to reverse . A computer scan was done , plugs were checked , and none was the issue , then my mechanic suggested we visit a gear box specialist who eventually charged me over 250k to change the valve body , pump and one other item I have forgotten, but then after all that, the gear performed fairly okay with the reverse working , but after a few weeks, the movement became so dull and the movement become so slow and doesn’t select fine .
Am actually tired and frustrated on trying to fix anything again, which leaves me with considering changing the entire gearbox , please experts here, what would you suggest I do and that would work ? Also I noticed my gear doesn’t enter into S anymore , Only P, N , R, D , because my car has S in the gear selection, please advice me what I can do
Thank you
Buy new tokunbo direct gear box. Your gearbox is U660E and a bit expensive around 500k or so. But when fixing they must be extremely careful cause dirt is the major killer of that transmission which is introduced when doing shaft or suspension work.
Thanks for your reply, but my friends Carina e is Salon 2.0 precisely,
I also observed that the car is not too common expecially in Abuja, drivers in Abuja prfare Nissan or Mazda, most of the Carina e I have seen are looking so tantant and unkept.
People are saying the parts are scarce.
Please can you share Me more light as regards to that sir.
If the parts are scarce its because of your location. CARINA E = toyota Avensis 1998 to 2002. So if you see that Avensis the part is same to carina E.
But my advice use what is common in your location yo gain people trust and easy of maintenance.
