Car Talk / Re: Tell Us Your Car Fault Lets Assess And Fix Them by nurey(m): 3:37pm
samuelkingz:
Good Afternoon House, Please my radiator is having issues. Its not leaking but the water dries up and i have to put water daily and stop to refill at intervals. what could be the cause cos i was using radiator coolant but as it dried up i replaced with water to understand what happened. Please kindly help.

diagnose the leak noni, check all around the car while parked not on and while parked and engine on to see any leakage, if none then next diagnosis is
1. check your transmission dipstick if it isnt milky in colour, if milky in colour you have a burnt gasket and the coolant is getting into the engine, or blue smoke noticed from your tail pipe means coolant is getting into combustion chamber. Also remove radiator cap, start car if you notice continuous bubble in the radiator when engine is running then gasket has burnt which can cause coolant source
2. Check your radiator cap or rather just change the radiator cap cause when the radiator cap is bad coolant will leak only when engine is very hot. while at this check the reservoir tank too for leaks.
3. your water pump might be bad too causing escape of coolant.

what vehicle are you using?

Car Talk / Re: Can 02 Sensor Perform It's Function Without Catalyst In D Car by nurey(m): 3:42pm On Jun 24
For this particular camry, it is a yes. Just weld the straight pipe to replace the catalyst pot, then buy a O2 sensor defouler, bolt the defouler to the straight pipe then bolt the O2 r AF sensor to the defouler and you will successfully fool the computer to not throw a code. The AF sensor absent affects fuel economy negatively.

Car Talk / Re: Toyota Corolla 2009 Gear Issue, I Need Urgent Assistance by nurey(m): 2:44pm On Jun 24
Abiola2akin:
Good morning.
So sorry My story is lengthy, It the way I can explain my problem, so u can understand me.
I'm using a 2009 corolla, and my problem with the car started like 6-7 months ago when I noticed small gear oil was leaking in btw the engine and the gear. The Mec said they will need to bring down the gear box to change the seal and I said no way, that I will prefer to be toping the oil than to risk working on the gear. I usually top the oil 1liter every two weeks depending on how much I drive the Car which is not that bad. Then it changed for the worst last month, I started using 1liter every week, then twice a week, then 1liter every day.
At this point I do not have a choice but to change the seal. The seal was changed by the mec and the leaking didn't stop, so a gear specialist was call to check the gear and he said I have to replace the oil pump. Bought oil pump 45k and when he came to install the pump the turqe converter didn't come out easily as it should and he said I have to change the converter too, piad 35k for another converter, he installed it, we mount the gear back and the oil leaking stop but I noticed some clicking sound coming from the gear box, call his attention to it and he said it will stop when the oil circulate fully, So he left.
I engage the gear and everything seems fine until after two days, car won't move as it use to, it revs high with slow movement, managed to get it home and the next morning, it did not engage in drive at all, I tried it later in the afternoon and it engaged, test it out in the street and drives fine. Tried testing it later at night and the drive didn't engage again. I was planning to arrange the car to be towed to my Mec workshop and I engage the drive and it worked, I quickly drive the car to Mec. The gear guy come again and open the back aluminum and said Its bad he showed me the worn out part and said It has to be replaced and he will change the fiber in it. Paid another 150k for the aluminum cover.
But he brought a worked one, that he couldn't find the tokunbo and vow it wont give me any issues that it's just to hold the pressure. He fixed it and car works fine again took the car home for sallah and returned on Wednesday.
Thursday night gear started revving high with little or no movement, but this time around I noticed if I allowed the car to cool, it works fine for some minutes and goes back to revving high with no movement. Now the gear guy is telling me to change valve body I told him never that he should get me good tokunbo aluminum cover I paid for, or give me back my 150k or I get police involved.
I make enquiry on the cost of a new 9pin gear and I'm get a price range of 550k to 750k.
It's too expensive for me right now, Have spent all savings for sallah and it will take a while for me to get 750k for new gear box
I'm thinking of retracing my step from the convert maybe I should just put back my old converter and see how it goes then replace the aluminum back cover if that doesn't work.
Have scand the car and it's not bringing gear related code.

I need help pls.
I need a competent gear specialist pls.

We have always reiterated here that no gear expert for naija for now even parts to fix the gear are not available.

Retrace your steps and if it works fine manage the vehicle and save up for replacement gear. Normal scanner won't pick gear codes, you need high end scanner for that.

Car Talk / Re: Do You Sell Honda Accord Air Fuel Ratio Sensor ? by nurey(m): 1:58pm On Jun 23
Buy only new sensor which is available but costly, all this used you can't determine if it is for your exact Accord because all the sensor look alike, also you don't have the tools needed to test the oxygen sensors at hand, even the seller won't let u use a blow torch to test it.

I have it in mind to buy a car and my friend told me to go for lexus gs350 2008 and have seen the lexus gs350 tokunbo for a price of 5.8m, nothing to fix just buy and drive.

Is the lexus gs350 a good car? In terms of fuel economy, cheapness of spare parts, all round resale value. Are they any known issues with this particular model of lexus.?

If there is any car that's good that I can purchase apart from this lexus please advice me. My budget is around 5-5.5m

Please advice me, I'll be in comments section thanks.

GS350 tokunbo cannot go for anything less than 8m not even 2008 model year I doubt you will even see it for that 8m budget 10m plus for any GS350 from 2006 upwards tokunbo.

All your intention about the car are very opposite. The part is one of the most expensive midsize sedan, the engine cost a fortune, body parts cost a fortune and the V6 engine is not a real guzzler but isn't fuel efficient either cause it uses a high powered engine and it is too heavy in mass.

Your 5.5m may be low for any recent tokunbo vehicle but see if you can get a Acura CSX or a civic SI those can give you joy closer to The GS in a compact form

wwwkaycom:
My elder brother is on the verge of purchasing a beautiful 2005 Skoda Octavia at what I consider a remarkably low price. Neither of us knows much about Skoda, but he's drawn to it for its cleanliness, aesthetic appeal, and smooth driving experience." It's a 2005 model with manual transmission.

I'm hoping someone here can share insights about the Skoda Octavia. Online reviews suggest they are well-regarded vehicles, and gave the brand 8 out of 29 reliability rating which I hardly understand. Can someone please assist me?

Dey your dey, make Skoda dey him dey make nobody worry nobody.

Skoda octavia is a watered down VW Passat abi nah Jetta. They are less complicated than VW but have shitty build quality. If the engine is good, you will enjoy it. The bone of contention should be technician, don't give a low level kazeem to fiddle with the vehicle, the manual transmission is a plus for you.

Hello house

So I drive an Hyundai Elantra 2017 at the moment, but I'm looking to dispose it and do an SUV next. I'm looking for the best option between these three
1. GLK 2010
2. Venza 2010 or
3. MDX 2010/11/12

I think I like the build of all 3, but I have read so many reviews on them from other threads and YouTube that I am more confused than when I started researching.

My preference is basically fuel economy and peace of mind. I do long distance travel maybe once in 2/3 months, all other waka is mostly running short errands for my wife or the occasional outing to parties. All in all, I hardly go out.

I'd like to leverage on the advise from the knowledgeable chairmen on this thread, what is your strongest recommendation?

N.B: Budget is <= 10m. With the present state of the economy I have made peace with the fact that I may have to do Nigerian used (which is against my better judgement anyway).

Buy a Tokunbo with your 10m, what ever reliable vehicle it is within range of. Naija used of those vehicles are expensive, better you buy tokunbo than naija used to have peace of mind.

which one be mistakenly? you mistakenly saw the key hole, mistakenly insert an object then mistakenly turned it to mistakenly know what will happen grin you have locked the gear knob, either use the object to turn it back to the position you met it, if not possible, then the gear dash assembly will have to be dismantled to disable the lock mechanism

You can't learn how to ride a bike from YouTube. If it is a brand-new unit dead the idea of learning from YouTube because we wey don dey push bike 5years plus sef we still dey fall dey damage our bike, some sef will throttle when they loose control and end up in damaging the bike severely.

Find someone to teach you, easier if you can handle a bicycle

The present government is toeing the same path by putting the cart before the horse with no policy direction, non productive civil service, wanton corruption and off course globe trotting with public funds.

Soon civil unrest may set in cause the cost of things especially food is alarming and an hungry man is an angry man. Also companies are downsizing big time

yes you are supposed to drive normal with O/D on. its when going through rough terrain, downhill descent and hauling heavy trailer that you may need the O/D off to stop the gear from entering higher ratio

O/D is engaged by default in normal driving meaning O/D is on when it is not shown on the dashboard you, can only disengage it by pressing the button.

But normally the O/D should be left on while the vehicle is used in normal driving.
